Very friendly staff and great food

Good food and great staff - very fancy for not that expensive. The lamb kofta was just difficult to eat it took me ages but would recommend.

Great find thanks to google maps! We were looking for somewhere that did small plates for me and larger plates for my partner. We were not at all disappointed. Food was fantastic, and service was impeccable. We had a little celebration between us so ordered sparkling rose, great value by the glass and tasted lovely. Would definitely recommend.

We had a bizarre experience here. The service was great. The prices were over average. We were given a menu and struggled to choose anything as it was limited. We were warned it would take a while for our 2 fillet steaks to arrive. As we were waiting, we watched other tables being served food that wasn't on the menu. Very very strange

The food here is impeccable, as is the service and range of beer and wine. Nothing is too much trouble and it really is a great experience every time.

I was there with the family on a Saturday night. A bit loud for the kids, but the food and atmosphere were top notch. Recommended.

Popped in on the off chance on easter sunday and was seated very quickly by the staff. Ordered lamb sunday roast and the homemade burger. Absolutely outstanding food.... The portions were very large, food was lovely and hot and the service was exceptional. Finished off with a delightful sticky toffee pudding. 10/10 on everything and exceptional value for this quality food. Will definitely recommend TNQ to everyone I know.

Expensive for what you get. Great location but needs a better menu and better food.

I recently visited TNQ with my boyfriend, shortly before visiting Manchester Cathedral for an event. At first, I was not too sure what to expect from this restaurant, as it was the first suggested restaurant to pop up on my google search. However, my experience at the TNQ, to my surprise was delightful. The food was absolutely exquisite. From the presentation to the portion sizes and most importantly the taste and texture of each dish. For starters i ordered the roasted cauliflower. Out of this world to say the least. It is not too often, when I am absolutely utterly blown away by a starter. Compliments to the chef, as soon as I finished. The wait-time between starters and mains was appropriately timed. I believe that the perfect amount of time for the food to settle between starters and mains was suitable. Next, I had chosen to eat the beautiful Gnocchi which was one of the vegetarian options. Usually, I rarely go for the Gnocchi, due to never having a great experience with the taste of other dishes at previous restaurants. However, this night i felt rather curious. Devine- Was the only word to describe the main. After we ate the mains, we had no other choice but to experiment with the desserts. Deciding which dessert to chose from off the menu, was a challenge and a half, because every dish which presented itself before me on the menu, had my mouth watering. In the end, we both decided to finish off with sharing a Sticky Toffee Pudding. Gorgeous, it was. The food was a ten out of ten. I could tell that the waiters and waitresses were highly trained as I have never had such a good experience before, at such restaurant. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I shall be returning in the near future. This was quite possibly one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had in my life, and I would highly recommend visiting. Thank you TNQ for making our night that extra bit special.

First time visit here and it won't be the last. The asparagus starter and pork main were packed full of flavour and generous portions. Really tasty food. Customer service was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Recommend the Thirsty Thursdays deal. Staff were generous with replenishing the wine bottles. I thought the menu was limited but that’s a personal opinion.

TNQ is an experience. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to Manchester, this place is a must-visit for anyone seeking contemporary British cuisine at its finest. The relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, coupled with the culinary expertise on display, makes TNQ a true gem in the heart of the Northern Quarter. I can't recommend it enough and eagerly anticipate my next visit!

My first introduction to fine dining, and was so glad I came here for it. We came during a 50% offer, and would happily return at full price! No exaggeration to say it was the nicest meal I'd ever had (I had the pork belly main). With all three courses, and the quality of service we received, the premium level of dining was evident throughout. As someone very inexperienced with fine dining, but passionate about food, my meal here has opened up a whole new ball game. I highly doubt anything will come close to the pork belly at TNQ though!!

Really friendly staff, food was really nice and even better as it was the 50% discount on food, no issue's at all even though evrey table was full we was well looked after, food was hot and fresh! really enjoyable

Absolute fine dining. We came during a 50% off menu offer and wow the food was insanely good! If you're wanting to be full then it's probably not the place for you as portions weren't huge, with the price and the status we didn't expect massive portions. The service was fast and the waiters were lovely too! I honesty cannot recommend the food enough, as someone who doesn't like to spend masses of money - I would still come back here when there's no offers on. That's how good this food was, we had a 3 course meal for 2 people, and drinks. During the offer the total bill came to about £65 which was great value especially with the quality of food.

Nice atnosphere and staff but sadly absolutely revolting food. My companion's Subday roast was gristly with overcooked potatoes, and my beef burger was served cold. Staff were very pleasant when I sent the burger back, but unfortunately the second burger, while mostly hot, arrived with fries that were somehow badly undercooked. Starter Caesar salad was awful, slathered in dressing with packaged croutons. Tomato & Mozzarella salad was okay, but tonatoes were flavourless--admittedly out of season, but then why oh why was this on the set menu? The coleslaw with the burgers was mostly imitatoon mayonnaise and utterly inedible. This kitchen must regularly burn salads. Left feeling quite sick afterwards and I hadn't had any alcohol (the lime cordial was a tually quitw good). Bought a Domino's pizza for €6 on the way home that ended up, ninus the self-loathing, a better meal. It was also, crucially, cooked.

In Manchester for a couple of days and met up with family for dinner. Having sat down at 7.30 pm... before we knew it was 10.20 pm! Yes the company was wonderful, lots of great conversations and laughs. Along side this was the lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff and the food was the star ⭐. Roast Chicken breast, the presentation was perfection and the taste... Wow. An explosion of tastes along with a perfect sauce. The restaurant looks very unassuming from outside... Don't walk by walk in. 😊

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! Had the most amazing food this afternoon. It’s a small venue so I would advise to book in advance. There is a set lunch menu which is amazing value or the regular menu. Three courses £26 or two courses £21. Superb 👌🏻

Our first time at TNQ and we will definitely be back. Booked in for a special birthday Sunday lunch and found everything to be great, from service, to portion size, to presentation and quality of food and also value for money. The restaurant was very busy whilst we were there, but the service flowed really well, all the food arrived piping hot and the staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Like many restaurants in Manchester, TNQ has special offers in January which made our visit something of a bargain though it would still be great at full price. Perhaps because of the offer, it was full on a midweek evening. There was a pleasant buzz about the place helped by welcoming and efficient staff. There had been an Australian themed event the day before and some remaining barramundi was available as a "special". It was a great opportunity to try something that was new to me and turned out to be very tasty - as was my wife's choice of the more usual monkfish. The desserts were excellent too. I hope we will return before long.

Loved the food , service and atmosphere would definitely go again

I've been here three times, and the first two were good. However, on my 3rd visit on the 17th Jan, I had the monk fish dish. Around an hour after leaving the restaurants, I had extreme stomach pain and could not go sleep at all that night. The next day I went to GP, and then doctor said it is caused by containmented food likely from the fish. That's why it took only a short time to effect me. My husband rang TNQ to let them know the situation and try to help them avoid effecting others. They said they will get back to us but we never heard back. We didn't ask for anything from them, but we expected they would at least let us know everything is okay and apologies.

Our food - Grilled Monkfish and the lamb special was great. The special was actually pretty good value at £24. The sauce with the Monkfish was stupendous and the best fish sauce that I have ever tasted. Wonderful. Service was fine. Prompt. Friendly, menu clearly explained though the pic of the lamb was not enticing tbh. Well-recommended !

Food great, service good but we were left disgruntled when we were charged 10% service of what the bill should’ve been before the January discount which then worked out at 20% of the bill. Cheeky and although I know it’s discretionary it will put me off returning.

Fantastic food and service. Delightful wines and the 50% off January sale was a huge bonus. Not our first visit and definitely not our last.

Usually a lovely little restaurant but on our last occasion the waiting staff were discourteous and unfriendly. We were made to feel somewhat unwelcome! Such a pity - we will not be visiting again.

Great birthday meal. Good service, well-prepared and presented food, particularly the pork belly. The ambience is relaxed and the price is competitive, considering the location.

I've been to Michelin restaurants but I'd choose this one over them every time. Food, service and atmosphere are always excellent.

We hadn't been to this place for ages so a visit was overdue. Although arriving just after 6 pm a Thursday, we were surprised to find the restaurant very busy, but we were made welcome quickly and seated at a very nice table. This was a theme for the evening as the service was outstanding. Ali, our Iranian waiter simply could not do enough for us and was professional , friendly and looked after us very well. The food was terrific. We went straight to main courses and had the braised beef which was delicious and had a real depth of flavour. The cod was incredibly fresh and the accompaniments of cabbage with crispy bacon and chips went perfectly. They were big portions as well, so we even managed to get a takeaway for our lunch the next day! All this was washed down with a bottle of Slovinian red wine which we had tasted first and was of a good quality and great value for money. It's a lovely place that deserves to do well and down next visit won't be as long off that's for sure!

After a movie on the New Year’s Day, we decided to have a lazy late lunch and just dropped in TNQ where we were welcomed by Ali who so nicely greeted us! Ali & Paria made our day super special with their kindness and great hospitality. The roast dinner is a must have! We will be back soon for more! Wonderful food, wonderful people and wonderful experience!

Took the opportunity to try TNQ during their January sales, it was totally worth it. Braised beef shin and slow roast pork belly were tender and flavourful. Excellent service.

What a hidden gem this is. Amazing food which was absolutely delicious. Enjoyed every mouthful. Cosy restaurant with attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for us. We will certainly be visiting again.

Lovely quiet restaurant with a great menu in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Opposite the old Fish Market facade the restaurant has lovely ambience with a cosy interior and gentle music playing. Food was very tasty. Serving size is not huge but if you get a starter and main it's filling. Service was excellent too.

Celeriac truffle soup was divine

We went out for some lunch yesterday 30/12/2023. We ate off the express menu had 2 courses for £21 couldn't eat anymore for a dessert as we were very full. The food was delicious 😋. I had the soup which in fact is one of the nicest soups I've ever had , my main was the seafood spaghetti and again was delicious. Service was fantastic , the staff couldn't do enough for us. Fresh water on the table and a lovely atmosphere. We had a couple of cocktails which were excellent . Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning .

I cannot begin to say what an incredible evening we had here. I took my partner for his 40th and as I live in the Midlands, did a lot of research on where to go that was walking distance from our hotel. TNQ stood out with its reviews and it's easy to see why. The food was sublime, I could have eaten my starter alone ten times over. The cocktails were lovely and the atmosphere was perfect. As I explained we needed somewhere quieter, they couldn't be more accommodating giving me 2 choices of suitable tables. Both of us completely cleared our plates for both courses, one of the best meals we both had ever eaten. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Cravings are a funny old thing. After stumbling around like some kind of weird Father Christmas, looking for a Christmas dinner, I ended up at this place as the fifth one that I tried. To say that it was serendipity would be an understatement. All they had left was a table by the kitchen (by this point, I didn’t care I’ve eaten in the kitchen and helped wash up). I was just desperate for a turkey dinner, and yet I managed to find myself one of the nicest I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection, the potatoes crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just like an armadillo. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, and all of it was hot, something that is quite a rarity nowadays. The Kitchen even indulged me and my request for a couple of extra roast potatoes. Amazing place, rammed to the rafters and I can truly see why.

Sunday lunch was amazing. Lamb with cauliflower cheese with truffle. Lots of gravy to. Starter was very nice but dessert wasn't that good coconut panna cotta. Will definitely be going again. Service was top polite professional and very much attentive to us.

Wonderful place. Party of nine for late Sunday lunch. As a vegan best food other than that which I cook myself! No fake meat. Just good food. Lovely staff. Very reasonable. I will be booking again soon to take my husband who would happily ride home on his tea!

Such a gem of a place. Service exceptional, attentive and not invasive. The setting and design is beautiful, love how intimate it feels. The food speaks for itself. Each course was wonderful. Most incredible Baked Cod and the Morello Cherry dessert was incredible!

Delicious food! Wowzers, such attention to detail by the chef who checks every dish - the flavours were so delicate. I had prawns and white fish with saffron. I wanted to drink the sauce!! My husband had fish as well and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was perfect. Go try it

Absolutely delicious Sunday dinner, could not fault anything and my daughter and mum in law (78) loved it too. Also pleasing to see deserts didn’t let the dinner down. Lovely atmosphere and relaxed.

What a fantastic meal we have just had at TNQ. Great value, great service & sublime food. Very quiet when we arrived at 5.30, but filled up later. We ate from the express menu which had brilliant choices. We had crispy pork, beetroot salad & salt and pepper squid & whitebait all were absolutely delicious as our empty plates confirmed!! Mains were flat iron steak, baked cod, seafood spaghetti( quoted as the best ever!) & lamb kofta flat bread. Good sized portions perfectly cooked. This will now be our go to in Manchester, the best meal we’ve had in the big city for ages, thanks for restoring my faith in city centre restaurants.

A long time favourite place for us but it hadn’t been our intention to eat here that evening. We had a problem with the place where we had a reservation so popped in to TNQ to see if they could fit us in. They could. Sigh of relief. It’s always a good looking seasonally changing menu and, as ever, there’s nothing I wouldn’t have been happy to try. So, lightly smoked haddock croquettes to start for one of us. They sat on creamed leeks and there was a scattering of crispy shallot for texture. A small slab of pork belly also had crispy skin, just as it should do. There’s a pequillo pepper and sherry “jam” acting as a sauce, which also had a lovely hit from chilli. Black pudding bon-bons and a couple of pork “quavers” just added to the pigginess. Great starter, IMO. For mains, a simply cooked chicken breast was enhanced by everything else on the plate – crisp rosti, leeks, delicious cream and mushroom sauce. And a slice of crisped Spanish ham. Beef shortrib was long cooked in a well flavoured red wine braising liquid. There’s parsnip puree, cavolo nero and a tang from pickled walnut. A pretty much perfect autumn dish. We shared a portion of nicely fried chips. We had room for dessert. A lemon polenta cake was excellent in itself and the addition of lemon sorbet and lemon posset just built additional layers on to it. Cheese selection was good – Kirkhams Lancashire, Baron Bigot, Cheddar, a blue, and sheep and goat cheeses (names forgotten). Came with crackers, grapes and a housemade onion chutney (a bit overly sweet).

Best roast in Manchester by far. Go here regularly and it's consistently amazing.

Okay food but took an hour and 10 mins for the first course of an express meal to arrive. Nice surroundings. Good wine selection.

Popped in Sunday early evening as we thought the Sunday roast might be good. Place was almost full at 6pm on a Sunday and everyone was tucking in to the same roast dinner so had the same idea. Food was very good, I had the 3 meat roast and there was plenty and real gravy too. Drinks are fairly expensive, large glass of red/white was neatly £10 but it’s central Manchester. Overall, good food, good service and seems popular so are doing something right.

The food is fabulous, couldn't fault it! The staff were terrific, couldn't fault them. The ambiance is lovely and has a real low-key quality that speaks for itself. Will be back here again for sure!

My partner and I were really looking forward to this Sunday lunch.. we had searched for the best roast dinners in Manchester and this came up. We booked due to the review of being runner up for a best Sunday lunch 2 years running. It was very quite inside.. Nice looking restaurant.. quiet atmosphere for the northern quarter. We ordered the Sunday lunch 2 courses and got the broccoli and ham hock starters.. they tasted very good however the broccoli was hard to cut into. For mains we ordered the 3 meat roasts.. it came luke warm.. and the beef and lamb had a lot of fat and gristle on them.. when asked how the food was I pointed this out and he told the manage.. along with all the other staff in the restaurant, which made me feel uncomfortable after receiving funny looks back. We ate what was tolerable and I made a point of showing them the unedible meats on my plate.. our bill was discounted the full bottle of wine we ordered. Presentation was really good but the taste was very sub par! Not acceptable.

Overrated. Entire place smelled like fish, the chairs, the menu in my hands, everything. Burger was overpriced for the quality. 5 pounds for bread. Overall did not meet my expectations.

I had a pretty good roast dinner at tnq, my friends and I went for a Sunday roast it was a group of 8 of us so we had to pay a £40 deposit. we got a mix of either the pork, lamb or veggie roasts between us, the consensus was the veggie roast was the best. I had the pork which was very flavourful but all of the roasts were kinda of let down by the roast potatoes which had either been reheated or left under a heat lamp so the outside was tough and leathery. I also had the vegan pannacotta (I'm a dairy intolerant ) which was quite disappointing it had the texture of firm tofu and kinda tasted like tofu too, I couldn't taste the coconut at all, the mango sorbet was nice though. The food was good but what really let it all down for me was the services our server really wasn't happy to be at work that day clearly, we didn't get menus and had to ask for drinks menus, she rushed us through ordering forgetting to take some of our drink orders which we had to call her back over for. And snatched the menus back from us. Not sure I'll come back tbh it wasn't my kinda place.

The food was top rate! We sat in the annex across the street from the restaurant proper. We went out last minute. So service was a bit spotty, but the staff was friendly and attentive.

Let me start by saying, when the food arrived, it was delicious. The service was a bit off from the start - we stood in the doorway waiting for someone to notice us. Not a biggie but sets the tone. Here’s the thing, it was a small, perfect storm of situation against us…the first waitress wasn’t great. For example, when I ordered my steak she didn’t ask how I wanted it, wasn’t interested in our wine order. The wine turned out to be off - I tasted it and I should have called it then. But you know what it’s like - it doesn’t taste or smell so terrible that it’s obviously off but after half a glass you don’t enjoy it and realise. I know, middle class privilege- but when you’re spending your hard earned cash…We also got stuck behind a big table (it’s a relatively small joint) so our starters took nearly 30 mins to arrive. But when they did, delicious! Chargrilled tender stem broccoli and a ham hock terrine. As was the main course - Flat Iron steak and chips (with peppercorn source) and roast breast of Goosnargh chicken and, as was desert - chocolate, cherry and vanilla mousse. Our second server was charming and made up for everything. So, all in all, a mixed bag. We will be back to give it another go. Clearly the kitchen knows what it’s doing.

Cannot fault the service. Starter of Gazpacho was reasonable but nothing to rave about. Sunday lunch served Luke warm. Pork belly and lamb fatty. Roast potatoes over cooked as was the Yorkshire pudding. Not sure if the head chef realises, but standing at the hatch of the kitchen staring at tables is a bit off putting. Doesn’t look happy to be there either. A strange visit all in all. Would be willing to try again but not in a hurry.

I would have give it five stars only within a week they change the desserts. I was looking forward to creme brulee but saying that the lemon polenta cake was surprisingly tasty . Fish and chips was lovely .

We were a fair sized group and we all ordered different dishes, but every single one was amazing. So much flavour, so delicious. The menu options were really interesting, the staff and service were super. Prices were fair considering the high quality. Just want to eat it all all over again!

I've been to TNQ many times with my husband for Sunday lunch and have always said that it's the best in Manchester, but last night was the first time that I've been to a Gourmet Evening. My Granddaughter Harriet booked it and treated me to an Argentina night, it was absolutely fantastic, the food and wine out of this world and the service from the staff so good, now I know why these evening are always booked up.

Booked for our sons 21st birthday meal. The people waiting on us were attentive, warm and friendly. Tables set at a nice distance from others so you don’t feel on top of the next table. Food was amazing, timed perfectly between each course. Even the fussy eaters in our group of 4 found the food superb! We booked a Friday at 6pm which was the perfect time. Will be our go to next time we visit the northern quarter!

Second time I've been here 1st was excellent but the latest visit was not that good we ordered a starter to share which was going down very nicely but the main meals came before we had finished and they just took it away I had ordered a steak for my main meal and nearly every bite was so chewy and full of gristle it was impossible to enjoy and eat not a good visit 2nd time around I'm afraid

Culinary delight - we visited on Saturday evening and it was perfect . Sherry infused figs were delicious and the Goosnargh chicken washed down with a very pleasant Albariño was exceptional. Service was as ever friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend and will return
