The best restaurants serving British food in England

Me and my husband decided to have a nice day out. Problem was one of the bar staff was acting fairly rude other than that food was top quality and fair prices.

Brilliant. Went for afternoon tea for the wife's birthday. Food was fresh and plentiful. So much we needed to get boxes to take cake home. Everyone working there were lovely, friendly and right side of attentive. Seeing the food other people ordered we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Wife had a lovely birthday thanks to such a lovely little place for an amazing tea. 😁

I had such a good experience here a few weeks ago - very friendly, kind service. The food and drinks are always good at Pret but the service here made my morning.

Friendly mother and daughter team. Had lovely cream tea, excellent value. Later had bacon, sausage sandwich, great bread. Would have preferred bacon, sausage to be cooked more, but that’s personal preference prefer well done. Also sold hand selection of handmade jewellery, trinkets etc. bought lovely earrings and ring.

I visited this cafe today for a coffee and sausage bap, £9.35. I paid with a ten pound note and got no change. My coffee was delivered, followed later by my bap. I then questioned the price with waitress and said that I hadn't received my change. She came back saying 'Heaven forbid I forgot your 65 pence'. Not that this was a real issue, but whether she thought it was her way of a joke came over as being sarcastic. The coffee was average at best and the sausage bap, less so. Typical microwave food, so hot it was tasteless with no colour to look that it was cooked. Given the price, poor service, tasteless food and additional cost to park they won't get my custom again. I'd rather use the cafe opposite who know how to treat customers how they like to be treated!

Appsolutley gorgeous food and drinks me and the wife will be returning. This was our first visit Thank you for a friend place and great staff service was quick and seamless.

Lovely venue and friendly place

This is possibly the most welcoming cafe in Hitchin, which is why we return regularly. The staff are great, the food is lovely (such a selection) and the price is not typical of Hitchin pretentiousness! Highly recommended.

Every dish was perfect from crab cake starters to creme Brûlées. Our family table of six had three different choices of mains, salmon, chicken and venison. Every plate was perfect, with tasty sauces, jus, creamy leeks and lemon butter sauce with the fish. We all had desserts and wine too. This is how restaurants should be, great service, no rush and absolutely stunning food.

Had to come on here and leave a review after such a lovely experience. Myself,daughter & granddaughter went in for food and drinks before going to the nearby hotel for the night. The food was really nice with great portions. The service they gave was the main reason for my review today. They could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed! Even offering to change the eggs if they were not to our liking! Well done ladies. Keep up the great customer service.

Called in by chance after a 7 mile walk. Coffee and cake was called for. The Lavazza coffee is lovely, and the banana bread with cocoa nibs was plentiful and delicious. Will be back. They also had Queens of the Stone Age on quietly in the background, win win.

A welcoming cafe with a great selection of drinks, cakes and hot snacks. We were able to get a pram on which was great. Highly recommended.

Been going to Tracey’s for a little while now after I was looking for a traditional cafe in Nottingham and I must say, I’m impressed. The food here comes out in good time and is all made fresh, it is by no means anything fancy but it’s a wholesome environment that does a great breakfast. I will be back.

Very nice soup, cafe a little cold, but soup warmed me up!
