Sahara in Norwich

We had been going to this place for years and it was lovely. Today we were loudly and rudely ordered away from the table we had chosen. The man said a sarcastic thank you as we turned and walked out. I can only think it's because I'm disabled and have mobility aid.. Sadly we disabled people are used to this disgusting treatment. All the previous good manners were just a lie it seems. I feel insulted and disgusted and I will never go in that place again. So distressing.

Fabulous home cooked dishes, we had the houmous plate with salad and olives...it was lush! Will definatly be back

Booked by my son to meet his fiances family, never been before, we had a lunch at the Magdalen Street venue, 8 of us, great friendly service, one of the best coffee's I have had in a long time, much better than the chains, everyone commented on how nice their lunch was, a mix of paninis, tagines, platter and harissa chicken. Happily return again, the large car park a minutes walk away is also handy, right opposite Anglia Square.

This is a great find. Good for just a cuppa or food. Lots of choices of hot food including vegetarian and vegan.

The place from outside has a good vibe, but inside the service was curt, ingredients seemed cheap. Felt like a bait and switch.

Lovely Falafel and chips, tasty fresh ingredients and great service. We bought some pastries to take away as we were super full, they looked amazing and were so reasonably priced, they tasted delicious. Thank you

A real gem, great for mint tea and baklava

Loved the food, and the mint tea is amazing! Chose from the specialities - it would be rude not to! Great pastries to take away too. Warranted a return visit to collect some goodies to take home!

Stay away, Rude staff very unhelpfull, loads of egg options on the menu other than egg on toast, asked if my partner could have just eggs on toast to be told "No not after 12oclock, was 12:10, baffles me how you can turn custom away because you refuse to cook an egg past 12oclock. Wierd people

One of our favourite cafes in town. A great to relax and catch up or sit quietly and watch the world go by. The fresh orange juice is delicious and so are the chicken ciabattas. Staff are so friendly and welcoming.

Really nice lunch spot! The falafel wrap was perfect. Visited with colleagues for quick work lunch, service was friendly, attentive and funny. Also the coffee was really good, nice beans and well made.

This is a great stop for a coffee and food. Used by regular locals which give it a lovely inclusive atmosphere. The service is great along with competitive prices. My go to cafe as soon as I get off the bus from Cromer even though it means a walk into the city centre after.

We are regular visitors to both Magdalen Street and, more frequently, St. Benedicts Street locations. The latter features a pleasant outdoor seating area in warmer weather. A wide range of drinks are available with excellent coffee, along with a selection of cakes including various North African pastries. The food menus (breakfast and lunch) also feature a number of traditional North African dishes, and food is always freshly prepared and well presented. Personal favourites for breakfast are Eggs Benedict or Royale, while at lunch the Goat’s Cheese Salad is both a work of art and delicious! Above all though it is the welcome and friendly service that keeps us going back. Customers are treated as guests and returning customers (of which there seem to be many) greeted as friends by the unfailingly friendly management and staff. This personal touch goes a long way, and we always leave feeling that these guys deserve our business.

I had an amazing eggs royale and my friend had egs Benedict we couldn't rate it highly enough and the service was excellent.

So glad we stopped here when looking for somewhere to eat, the food was so tasty, I recommend the tagine with some Turkish bread. Only downfall is there seemed to be more rice than there was tagine, I had expected the rice to come on the side and the tagine be full of the dish for £10.50 but the portion was very small. Definitely a lunch portion. Would definitely return and try something different! And recommend to others.

A great place to pop in for lunch or a drink and cake. Service is always with a smile and delicious. We always pop into the St Benedicts cafe when we are in the city.

Wow, what a great little place! The coffee was fabulous (and I am a fussy coffee nerd!) and the homemade Baklava was about the best I have tasted in the UK. I have no hesitation in recommending this place and, no, I am not on the payroll - just a very satisfied customer!

Great staff, very friendly and warm. I like the simple menu, everything fresh and done well. We had the lamb meatball ciabata, which was good. I like the attention to detail on the garnish etc. Nice produce shop within the cafe for as spices etc.

I’ve been there two times, first time i had a good latte then second time I tried the North African food for the first time and it was very delicious. Brother Faisal was wonderful and he welcomed me in a good way.

Have popped in a few times and it never dissapoints. Great coffee, great mint tea and very tasty wraps to keep you going. Love the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. A gem that is worth a visit if in the area.

Delightful place. Such lovely coffee and panini. Would thoroughly recommend this place if you're in Magdalen Street or Anglia Square area. Such friendly and helpful staff and a fascinating variety of good on offer. Really good value! Definitely will be going there again before too long.

Came here with my history group for the first time on 14th February. Had a decaffeinated Mocha which was lovely.

The lovely people who run this cafe have created a welcoming, relaxed and positive place to enjoy the great food on offer. The chakchouka is delicious, as are the other dishes I've tried here. The Sahara has been a really welcome addition to this street, this local community and Norwich. Magdalen St. wouldn't be the same without it.

This restaurant and cafe is incredible! Tasty food, best coffee and fresh fruit juices. The staff is suuuuper friendly and so sweet! My daughter loves to come and enjoy some hours there. Everyone there is so lovely and of course best traditional food. Kitchen is very clean and high quality food. I can highly recommend for lunch or brunch.

My partner and I absolutely loved this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the staff are friendly and the food is unpretentious, authentic and delicious. Coffee is amongst the best we’ve had in Norwich too. Can’t recommend enough! Will be back.

Taken to Sahara for lunch. One of my favourite places with interesting menu choices and I have never been disappointed with anything I have chosen so far. The selection of cakes has improved to now include a few English favourites, which is a nice idea. They serve great coffee and I am already looking forward to my next visit there.

Tasty Mediterranean food in a relaxing and pleasant locale slightly out of Norwich centre. The staff were attentive and pleasant to deal with - and the food options are both reasonably priced and packed with flavour. Baklava especially was out of this world.

Can't believe we have walked past this place for so long without going in. The food is amazing and the coffee is too. Good value with a very friendly atmosphere and service. You can buy their coffee beans and a few item such as olives, olive oil, pickles etc. Will definitely be going here again.

I would have like to put a review but I cannot! It’s ludicrous, the cafe kitchen is closed between one and two pm! So we had to go elsewhere to eat 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Only stopped for a quick coffee break, lovely staff, great atmosphere. Our little boy felt really left out so they made him a kids cappuccino (minus coffee ), he felt really grown up.

Stopped by at The St, Benedict’s Street cafe. Staff seemed fine but the food was very sub-standard and unimaginative. They said they had run out of bread and rice, so had to have cous cous with the red pepper dish which was just tasteless.The chips...

Beautiful little place and the waiter/owner was awesome and kind... sadly both our lamb and chicken tagines were very bland (no part of anything seemed to have any seasoning at all) so were left disappointed with our meals

I had an excellent lunch at Sahara and will definitely visit again. I don't normally wander that far down Magdalen but it was worth the walk. Stumbled upon this place by chance at lunch time today , enticed in by the wonderful morrocan inspired decoration and interesting menu. We were offered a lovely cosy corner seat surrounded by more beautiful decorations creating a lovely atmosphere. I do not eat meat and was overwhelmed by the vegan & vegetarian options available. I would have tried one of the tagines but it was quite hot outside, so opted for a nice refreshing goats cheese salad. I can honestly say it was the nicest salad I have ever had & the staff kindly gave me a little pot of spicy home made Harrissa sauce as I asked if I could have some spice to add. The staff were all really happy, friendly & attentive. I am very glad we found this place and can say is definitely a new favourite, can't wait to return and try the other options .

My extended family have a horrific range of dietary requirements (intolerant to gluten, dairy, citrus, yeast...) but Sahara is a crowd pleaser with options for everybody meaning we've been a few times. Shakshuka and a chai latte every time for me though!

Good coffee with a range of pastries and more substantial meals. Covid aware (which is more than I can say about some of the customers) with a one way entry and exit system.
