Urban Munch in Norwich

Food is always nice and tasty 😋

I was tempted to go inside because it had a small menu, so it got to be good as a guiding principle, as suggested by many master chefs. It could easily go into disarray in quality and inventory control, bound to be dropping balls here and there if otherwise. I was proved correct with the hog pork in baguette; it looked simple but might have taken lots of skills into the preparation. I went there around 4:00pm no other customers except the owner, who was quite chatty and had a lot of depth in world history, etc. A good brain makes good foods; he means business. Cheers from Hong Kong! 1st timer for Norwich!

Every time I go the owner is incredibly friendly and the food is to die for! Definitely a hidden gem!! - review update - the place is still as good, and I grab lunch here every time I’m in the city centre.

Love this tiny hole in the wall with amazing hog roast options. I’ve been here a number of times from Lowestoft (I’m originally from Bermuda) for a pulled pork sandwich and have never been disappointed. The dude is always friendly and it’s right in the mix of the action in Norwich, right across from the Castle. I highly recommend this place, enough to drive 45 mins when a craving develops!!

Go to this place alot as I work next door, food is amazing, ialmost always get the pork and poutine and i cant teccomend it enoigh, wish it was open on a Sunday though.

Nick is so cool and his French is perfect (private joke) 😉 It was very good, I was a little apprehensive with the apple sauce but it went well 👍

Best roast and juiciest potatoes I've ever eaten. The sauce was also delicious. The meat was buttery tender. Don't go there, run! You have to try this!!!

Absolutely incredible food, great value for money, couldnt recommend enough! I had the most mouth watering hog roast with all the trimmings. Only bad part was being so full I didn’t want to leave 😂 The owner/member of staff is incredibly friendly and is lovely to chat to. Asked about my day and the atmosphere is very inviting and welcoming. Will be back!!

Very happy with the food, absolutely sensational chicken dinner that I got. Tried the chicken when leaving the store and I couldn't believe how good it was! Will go again and have taken a picture of menu for future reference!

Excellent food, would regularly go here for lunch when working in the city. Pricier now than it was back then, but that's likely a sign of the times.

Bring the old owner out of retirement… I know it’s been a while, but no matter how many times I give UM a chance, I am bitterly disappointed every-time. Gravy - watery and tasteless (used to be thick and very tasty) Stuffing - hardly taste of anything Chicken - dry and tasteless Asked for salt, was told I don’t need salt as it’s already salty… how can something that taste of nothing be too salty. To top it off, the guy who’s serving looks and acts like he’s being forced to be there.. Last and final time I’ll be coming here, you get more taste out of a chicken baguette from greggs ..

First visit, walked past many times before without noticing it but now I've been and had a hog roast roll I will keep going back.

Used to have this regularly, so thought I’d get a treat today. Service was nice and polite, but baguette was not how I remembered it! He cut up the pork into tiny bits with a good cm of soggy fat, so that just made me feel sick when I was trying to eat it. The stuffing and apple sauce barely tasted of anything, and there was no crackling at all. Gravy was about the best bit sadly.

Went today to get 3 Roast Dinners- Pointed out to the Man Serving that he had a Dead bug in one of the trays with the sausages in it. He took his serving tongues and put the bug in the bin to then put the same tongues in with the Meat. Not only cross contamination but really would it have been that hard to quickly wash them. When I said wow you really just did that he said it was fine! It’s NOT Fine. Have logged a complaint with Food hygiene as the whole shop looks Dirty! Clearly decided not to order in the end.

Great place if in the city. Such a meaty sandwich. Lots of selection. Everything is freshly prepared. Would highly recommend.

I love urban munch. Tasty comfort food that's exactly what you'd expect to be. Consistently great for years. Lost a star as price has probably gone a bit high for what it is.

As a first time customer I was served with rudeness, disdain and servitude! I requested to buy cooked roast pork slices and was immediately told there is no crackling! I then replied I would just have the pork slices, he then proceeded to shred up the pork which I had not asked for as I requested pork slices! Obviously he did not listen to my request! ! I left the establishment and shall never return! Unsatisfactory customer service and I highly recommend that one gives this establishments a big miss!!!

One of the single greatest culinary experiences of my life. Fantastic value for money. Potatoes and gravy were a dream. Baguette had all the meats and gravy, stuffing and apple sauce. Beautifully cooked, melt in the mouth. Will certainly be back soon. Would give it 6 stars if I could.

Returning today after Covid restrictions have allowed, and its still the same great tasting hog in a box Urbsn Munch we all love. Today i had the hog pork roast dinner and a refreshing ice cold can of pepsi. You can now pay by card too! Thank god Urban Munch has survived.

I am a local and have lived in Norwich for my whole life. When it comes to food, trust me, Urban Munch is the main LINKK. I have been here a few times in the past and I came in today and I bought a Meat dinner for £6.50 which was absolutely phenomenal. I was starving and it soon filled me up! The portion sizes are generous and the prices are EXTREMELY fair for what you receive, he should really charge more! The man who runs the joint is very polite and his ways with food are masterclass it makes my mouth drewl and water every time! I recommend everyone visiting from outside Norfolk to visit Urban Munch as it's an absolute MUST and you cannot miss this small little restaurant. Unbelievable Food Well Priced Amazing service Generous Portioning Bossman if you are reading this, ill be back hungry for more!

Grabbed a quick snack at urban munch , went for the roast pork baguette. I went for onions and gravy with it. Sat outside and happily munched away, very tasty with plenty of meat. Very enjoyable little place, I will call back if I am ever in the area.

Muy feliz de haber encontrado este lugar, después de 30 minutos estresantes tratando de encontrar estacionamiento, y otros 30 minutos tratando de averiguar lo que nos apetecía comer, nos topamos con el increíble Urban Munch, muy recomendable el derretimiento de cerdo con chile, estaba tan bueno, volviendo de nuevo para probar algunos de los elementos del menú, ya que todos sonaban muy bien en el tablero del menú.

Since the business has changed hands the quality has gone down hill. Still all of our favourite options, but just not as tasty. For example, the crackling has been consistently soft, the gravy too watery, stuffing was anemic, roasties undercooked and I'm afraid to say flavourless. It's a real same :(

Amazing food, plenty of food and always stacked! Love the place, will be coming here for many more years! Highly recommend!

Since I last sent this place is not suited vegitarians but if you like hot cosy Sunday dinner style meals with a range of meats this place knocks out of if the park. Portion sizes are quite large. So if you have a big appetite this should hit the spot. If you don't this have smaller portioned options (but I haven't tried those)

Tasty food, inexpensive, lovely staff

We had our first one the other week. I had the chicken dinner & my partner had the chicken & pork dinner. Our boxes would hardly shut they were so full. It was a real stuffer though. So many roast potatoes & lush gravy. Plus it was well worth the money. I think they're onto a winner especially now it's colder. I heard it's under new management, well I reckon the new people are doing just fine. Keep it up :)

We stumbled across this place totally by accident, looks nothing from the outside and quite frankly on the inside but when I popped my head in the food looked great, beautiful big roasted joints of meat and all the trimmings... I had the pork with crackling and stuffing really tasty and great value and the other half had the baguette filled with chicken, stuffing and cranberry sauce... it was amazing value and they don't skimp on the portions.. will definitely be back.

Recientemente fui a Urban Munch por primera vez desde que me tomaron el control y estaba tan contento de que todavía fuera tan sabroso como antes, ¡si no incluso más sabroso! La salsa era perfecta, las papas asadas estaban crujientes por fuera y esponjosas en el medio y todo estaba perfecto. ¡Estoy tan contento de que hayan mantenido la comida igual que antes y estoy emocionado de que salga su menú de Navidad! ! No puedo esperar para regresar.

I’ve been going to Urban munch for years And I’ve always been happy with the food and the service but I’ve noticed since it’s changed hands the quality of gravy has improved and the portions are bigger,10 out of 10 for taste and value for money,Definitely be going back

As this place is close to where I work, myself and work Chums would visit constantly. Previously found the gravy/stuffing to be overly salty which wasn't to nice. Potatoes used to be a bit overdone and rubbery. Meat was always delicious. Since changing hands I think the potatoes have improved, love that the skins are left on. The gravy and stuffing aren't anywhere near as salty as before. Meat was perfectly cooked and the mixed meat roast defeated me as I couldn't finish it all. Really enjoyed my lunch!! Portion size is brilliant, will definitely be returning. Keep it up.

Have been to urban munch for the last 3 years. Even though I found the grave far to salty, I always went back because everything apart from the gravy was superb. Now that urban munch is under new ownership everything Including the gravy was spot on?! The gravy isn't salty, portion size seemed bigger. Potatoes with skins on I love. Definitely will be returning. Well done keep it up.

Used to love this place then they started using potatoes with skins on. They’re now chewy and I just can’t eat them. I’m so gutted. Everything else is amazing.

Went today for dinner - I think the quantity and quality was fine and similar to before.

I have been going to this food shop for a few years and when I heard it was being sold i was worried it might change but luckily the new owner is keeping it the same and is doing just as good a job

Food not to the same standard as the previous owner, baguettes were old and stale. Gravy not as flavoursome as before and the baguette was filled with more onion then meat

La comida sigue siendo excelente, nada ha cambiado. He estado yendo allí durante años, aparte del nuevo propietario, ha hecho un gran trabajo, gente muy amable allí si estás en la ciudad comprando en cualquier momento y visítala, no te decepcionará.

Nuestro equipo de trabajo se fue hoy, a pesar de que ayer hubo una mala crítica. Para nosotros, el menú y la comida eran exactamente iguales. El servicio fue amable y realmente disfrutamos nuestras comidas. No se desanime por el cambio y compruébelo usted mismo. Además, estarán abiertos los sábados nuevamente pronto.

Ive been going yo urban munch for over s year now a f the food there is to die for i normally the pork dinner with cracklin and have to say it is very filling and worth every penny.

Inexpensive, very tasty, and generous portions just about sums up this eatery. And the meat is even free-range! Good job I don't live in Norwich, or I'd end up round as a barrel! Do note that the place is cash-only, but there's an ATM across the road.

OMG where to start,this little place is amazing,we had hog roast in a baguette with all the trimmings very yummy,the couple that run it are lovely,I like the notice board,it’s closed when the food runs out.

Pork and Poutine is amazing. A big box full of Roasties, Pork and Stuffing topped with gravy, cheese, more gravy and more cheese! All for £5. Can't recommend highly enough.

Can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this place before, I used to visit this place every time I came in the city. When I first tried this place , perhaps 2010, I had a pork and hoi sin sauce baguette. (Unfortunately they don’t do the hoi sin sauce anymore, but they do offer the best hog roast baps/ baguette and now wrap anywhere.

only place in the city centre to get a take away carvery and open at 9 so can get a roast for breakfast :)

¿Bien, qué puedo decir? - Definitivamente amo éste lugar. He estado frecuentando este lugar por cerca de 8 años y nunca me ha decepcionado. La comida siempre es deliciosa y abundante. Mi favorito por mucho es el pollo a la barbacoa. La cantidad de queso usado podría atascar el corazón de un elefante, pero es por eso que me encanta. Valor definitivo para el dinero aquí. Hazlo.

Popped in here for a roast pork sandwich , I thought I had died and gone to heaven . We had a roast pork and apple sauce baguette , fantastic. My wife could not eat all of hers so I did for her , true love .

My favourite lunchtime treat. Great sandwiches. Can’t go wrong with a BBQ chicken melt, corker or the pork poutine.

Qué gran equipo de marido y mujer. Sirven el menú de cerdo más delicioso de Norfolk. Muchas variaciones en cerdo asado o cerdo en un rollo, pero vale la pena el dinero. Este no es un lugar caro para comer. Tiene que ser uno de los restaurantes más pequeños de la zona, pero sirve a un gran número de clientes con personas dispuestas a hacer cola fuera del lugar.

Back again with the mrs for my mixed meat dinner and she got the "2 dog's". The food here is absolutely amazing, can't fault in it anyway.. can't wait to go back

Have passed this establishment many times and have been tempted to try their street food. Today I did and it was excellent . If you come across it, don't pass it by, get some cash out and eat there!

If you work in the city then "Accidentally" forget your home-made lunch and come here! Love the Hog Roast Baguettes, Sausage Cowboy Baguette and the Pork and Poutine is awesome (and heavy, a good sign!). If there was an on-line menu, my company would put a lot of orders in (but then maybe that would make the queues longer).

Possibly the best sandwich in Norwich. Old school vibe with a no frills approach, it's inexpensive and just bloody delicious!

Go in, ask for a SuperHog. Talk about Breaking Bad (dude is a big fan), then walk out with a fantastic pork roll with onion, gravy, crackling, beans, and apple. Take a couple napkins and a fork,

Regularly visit Urban Munch, usually once a week as I work in Norwich. The food is excellent, the rolls are baked to perfection and the filling can't be faulted. Bloke & wife that run it are also very friendly, easy to have a chat to about anything and do well to remember regulars and their orders. Ideal location, cosy inside, and great decor. Is a shame to be stood outside sometimes if it's cold when they are busy, as queues can get long but the food is well worth the wait.

If you are hungry you won't be after you stop here,pick anything and its good,don't expect to be seated its food on the go, although there are a couple of seats inside and outside but you just come here for the food which is scrumptious. The propirator is a very friendly guy and is allways up for a chat if you have the time,make sure you have a couple of napkins it can get messy with the gravy,a very good messy.

After a couple of busy days visiting my family near Lowestoft it was back to Norwich for a bit of Christmas shopping. Colleagues at work were talking about this place and that they do a Christmas dinner in a baguette - I have passed this place many times and the smells are always really delicious. So... along I went - had the roast chicken in a box - oh my word..... just like mother makes. The gravy especially was out of this world. Will give it another week or so and I am back for the christmas dinner in a baguette. That is if I can wait that long ha ha!

Had the BBQ Sausage Melt. Delicious. Plenty big enough to fill me up for a days shopping. Lots of choice. Very friendly.

Loved the service and the staff. Did find the gravy very salty and lacking flavour (maybe lay off the thickening agent) it let it down tbh but would go again and try something different

I chanced upon this place a few weeks back as I needed something to eat before an appointment. The service was quick, the food was great (their corker baguettes are exceptional, £3!) and the staff friendly. The have small seating out front of the shop, as well as a couple of seats inside, so it is worth finding somewhere nearby if you want a seat while eating. The food is cheap, it's veggie and vegan friendly too, which is great, plus they can also cater for certain dietary requirements. Highly recommended for a quick lunch if you are in a hurry!

Tiny place across from Castle Mall. I ordered a roast hog baguette for £3.95 takeaway to have during my train trip back to London. The meat was so tender and full of flavor. Would love to try their other items on offer in my next visit. (Not a fan of their styrofoam food boxes though).

I was at work bemoaning a recent carvery I had that wasn't very nice at all and we were thinking where locally could we go for a carvery when someone suggested Urban Munch. It sounded good - a roast dinner I could bring back to my desk so myself and a colleague headed off there.
