Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar in Norwich

One of the best meals we’ve had. The service was excellent - two very friendly and attentive waitresses. The food was sublime - absolutely delicious! The atmosphere had a balance between being cosy and had a buzz to it. Top notch and very fairly priced! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely recommend to others and be back ourselves!

Nothing can be faulted about this restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is wonderful and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm and comfortable.

A small establishment that appears to put service and quality at the top of it's attributes. The food is sensationally good. Not cheap, so reserve for very special occasions and you won't be disappointed. Lovely waiting staff.

A warm welcome followed by great cocktails, even better food and wine followed by the perfect dessert- a Lemon Pannacotta. Presented beautifully and not a mouthful too much. Just the right wobble, presentation and say no more.

Was our first time at the Bishop, but will defiantly be back. Best cheese souffle I have ever tasted. All the food was excellent and such good value.

There was a young party of people in the bar giving the small venue a lively atmosphere. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent. Warm, inviting and NOT intrusive. The Sunday lunch menu was very good. My starter of cured trout with gooseberries, heritage tomatoes and dressing was marvellous. My roast pork was good ( but missing crackling). The dessert of frangipani with apricot sorbet and ginger/ honey cream excellent. We’ve planned to go there for our Christmas lunchtime outing ( pre Christmas). Can’t say any more

Spending an unplanned day in Norwich I fancied an English style restaurant lunch. Bishop’s was the first one I found among the huge range of international options. I used the online booking system but this failed to get through to the restaurant. However, there was no drama and we were seated without any delay. The service from the owner was first class as was the 3-course set lunch menu. Each dish was special and I picked up a few new ideas to try myself at home. A great experience and the set menu was excellent value for money.

A splendid Sunday lunch with the addition of hake on the menu as well as the usual roasts. This is a lovely restaurant with a great menu, atmosphere and level of service. Oh yes and it’s great value as well. It was definitely the right place to celebrate our anniversary with our long standing friends.

The ricotta ravioli in pea soup was divine..we had beef and lamb and the sauce for both was smooth and lip smacking tasty....the side of cheesy cauliflower was the best we have ever tasted....the wine was refreshing the staff were happy and tentative it's a place to visit and enjoy knowing when you walk away it's with a beaming smile

I've visited a few fine dining restaurants in Norwich and this is one of my favorites. If you love really good food and wine with very professional and personal service you'll love it.

Best restaurant in Norwich. The food is good quality and always consistent. Cured sea trout was amazing. Also, lunch menu is good value.

The food was excellent, tasty and beautifully presented. The service was polite and timed very well. There were several other tables occupied but the service remained well timed. It was a very wamr day but the dining room was at a very nice temperature.

The food was exceptional, flavoursome and beautifully presented, both of us having different dishes for all the courses, (I really recommend the Beef Fillet). I have eaten here on numerous occasions. Truly the finest food and restaurant in Norwich. Alex and staff are always on point. The pea and ricotta starter was outstanding. Stonebass was excellent. 🌸

I went with my daughter to this restaurant. First impressions were very good. However, I’m sad to say things rapidly deteriorated. We ordered the roast beef meal. As usual it arrived with most of it piled under the meat. This seems to be how it’s presented these days. It’s not how I want my roast meal plated. I like things to be separate. I pointed out to the very nice waitress that the so called roast potatoes were soggy because they were placed under the meat along with other vegetables. The Yorkshire pudding looked wonderful, perched on top of the beef. Looks can be so deceiving. It turned out to be chewy & difficult to cut. I couldn’t eat it. A lady on the next table left her Yorkshire pudding too. The meat was lovely & the gravy. The other vegetables were okay. The worst part of our experience was the enormous noise. It was awful. Another couple were also troubled by it & they moved to the bar area. There are too many tables for such a small restaurant. When we complained the owner was sarcastic & unpleasant. Not a nice man. We took the dessert & what we had left, home & put the potatoes & the Yorkshire pudding into a deep fat fryer. It brought them to life. I would suggest that if the restaurant has a deep fat fryer they should do the same just before serving to ensure that both are crispy. Needless to say, that was our first & last visit.

I another wonderful evening in Bishops. It’s wonderful to be able to sit at the bar and have a drink and a chat with Alessandro before dinner. It’s also lovely that at this time of the year the air conditioning works very well service food and wine, as always superb

We used this restaurant as part of our 50th wedding anniversary celebrations. We have managed to make our celebration last a week. We were married in Norwich. We were warmly welcomed. The food and service were outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will use this restaurant again whenever we visit Norwich. They helped to make our day very special.

A lovely way to celebrate my birthday and first trip to Norwich for a while following a period of poor health. Bishops reminds me of everything I love about our City...Small, beautiful, full of character and distinctive on its own terms. Tasty, interesting food and a well considered wine list. All in all a great treat!

We had a superb lunch - all 3 courses surpassed our expectations. The flavours were exceptional, the waitress was attentive and knowledgeable, and Alessandro’s wine choices hit the mark. Never disappoints and in my opinion one of the best restaurants in Norwich.

One of the best Sunday roasts we’ve had. The pork was cooked so beautifully, and so was the rabbit. Service was above and beyond.

Bishops provided absolutely incredible service to us at the weekend when we attended for a belated birthday celebration! Alessandro was so warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped through the door. This really set the tone for the evening, and set the standard for us. Flora and Emily both tended to us throughout the evening with exceptional service. The food itself was out of this world, notable favourites of mine are now the Cromer Crab Tortellini, and the Beef Fillet. The flavours came together perfectly in each dish that arrived. Each dish was beautifully presented and throughly enjoyed. I truly cannot wait to return to this fabulous establishment having experienced one of the best nights of my life. Well done team!!

Bishop's is a lovely place for a special meal. The food was good and the service excellent. Price wise, it was fair for what you got. My one observation is that the menu was not overly 'allergy' friendly, although they did accommodate me where possible. Let them know of any you have when booking, as this will prepare the chef. Bishop's is not disabled friendly (please correct me if I'm wrong). It's a very old building, cosy and small, with steps, therefore not suitable for wheelchairs. The lavatory was clean. Would recommend a visit but best to book first.

Simply amazing food, service was immaculate and I couldn’t fault anything, the Raspberry Soufflé was possibly the best dessert I have had in many years, Alex and the team do an excellent job, we will be back…

We have been to Bishops a couple of times before, but not for a long time. We took friends with us who haven’t been here before and they said it was a good choice. We all enjoyed our good. It is pricey, but worth it for a special occasion, we will be back.

Bishop's remains excellent. From the friendly greeting, to the menu, the service and the imaginative, tasty food, all is as it should be when you go out to lunch with friends.

Haven't been to Bishops for a while, but it was just as good as we remember. It's such a lovely place to eat, the food is sublime and the service is second to none. Quite simply it's the best place for fine dining in Norwich. We're already planning our next visit.

I am almost split on what review to give as the food was so wonderful and the service excellent. The nicest 3 courses we have had eaten for a very long time all excellent and lovely friendly staff. So what’s not to like? I don’t like almost nearly sitting on top of other guests, and the noise level was unbearable, very difficult to have a conversation unless you want shout. I understand the restaurant wants as many covers as possible but this experience has put us off returning so having the opposite effect on revenue. Far too many guests in a small room so unfortunately my rating is poor.

Food perfect...we had lamb and monkfish.. Starters ..scallop perfect also... Excellent service...

A really nice meal. The food was well prepared & presented. It was a shame that there were only one more couple there so the atmosphere was quiet. We were really well looked after by our maitre’ d who was attentive without being overbearing.

Been a while since we last dined at Bishops. one word can describe our recent visit 'Outstanding' Service was efficient without being intrusive. I have dined at some top London restaurants the food was up there among the best. It deserves a Michelin star!!

Fantastic Sunday Lunch had this time and it’s always been fab when we have visited. Def one of the best places to eat in Norwich. Food - 5 One of the best roasts in Norwich. Very good quality, options on meat and variation. Starters were equally good. Cannot speak highly enough about the food. Consistently good food when we have been here. Service - 5 Always top service at Bishops and this visit was no different. So welcoming with a drink at the bar with the option to order food before taking your table. Alex who owns the place is part of the service team and sets the standard and everyone else maintains it. Such lovely friendly people. Ambience - 5 Such a small restaurant but great atmosphere. Again, it’s in the owners image and his and the team’s attitude really set the mood.
