First time here. Much better than the photos ! Comfortable quiet stay. Warm and friendly staff. Early check in 1pm fantastic meaning you can get the best of your stay. Cooked Breakfast faultless 👌 definately coming back.

Lovely hotel. Stayed in the turret room. Very special for our wedding anniversary.

Lovely building with great decor and very clean... Staff were lovely, breakfast was gorgeous... bed was a little short in the loft room and electric shower was a little fiddly to ger right heat.

Very friendly staff, there was a sensationally freshly cooked breakfast made from high quality products! Greetings to the good chef! Cleanliness and order were guaranteed! Historically beautiful ambience! Unfortunately my bed was a bit small! Rest great! I'd love to come back!!!

Had a one night stay here with my friend and it was fantastic, it's a close walk (15 mins) to the city center. The room we got was large, clean and bright. We had a breakfast the following day which was excellent! The staff are super lovely and their marmalade is incredible. Will definitely come back. Thank you for having us!

Lovely place to stay, the staff were polite, helpful and friendly, the room was clean and tidy and the bed was big enough and comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Not too far from the center of the town.

I stayed at Ascot House on a Simply Escape yoga/pilates break. My single room was tiny but perfectly formed, with everything I needed, sensibly laid out with no space wasted. I did find it very hot even in Feb, but the window opened & luckily there was a fan provided. I had an evening meal in the hotel & was very impressed with the quality of the food (have the knickerbocker glory, you will not regret it). The location is very handy near the convention centre and only a few minutes walk from town. There is a small car park and it’s about 20 mins on foot to the train station

Attended an evening event with finger food. The organiser sorted me out a plate of gluten free food which I was handed on the night and told was gluten free. I’m not sure what the culprit was but I was well & truly ‘glutened’ and it took a week to recover.

Small set 3 course menu of around 6/7 choices changed daily,including 1 veggie option. This was beautifully presented and plentiful. I am a veggie and enjoyed the selection on offer, i would highly recommed a visit.

The breakfast was fine but nothing more than you'd expect in a decent hotel. Dinner was tasty but not 100% sure if it was all home made or if some was pre-packed, but it tasted good and wasn't expensive, so perfectly adequate if you don't want to go out for a meal.

I held my birthday meal here last Sunday as a lunch for my extended family ,aged from a newborn to parents in their 80s. We assembled in the lovely lounge bar before proceeding through to the light and airy dining room with a beautifully decorated table. Having pre ordered our food it all arrived promptly and was very tasty and nicely presented. Ascot house is an excellent venue for small gatherings and I highly recommend it.

We recently stayed overnight at this lovely family run hotel. The room was comfortable and spotless. There is a lounge bar available for residents and an evening meal is available. There is lovely choice at breakfast including kippers and smoked haddock. these are great favouries of ours but are rarely on offer. food was cooked freshly to order and was delcious. It was obvious that the quality of produce used was excellent. The hotel is small, within walking distance from Harrogate and has on site parking. All staff were friendly and helpful. A real gem!

We ate in the restaurant breakfast and evening all four agreed it was excellent cooked to perfection good choice for both Breakfast and Evening Meal.

I enjoyed a great 3 course evening meal here and also a lovely freshly-cooked breakfast. Also attended a lunchtime function which was very well catered indeed.

We only had one morning's breakfast here and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very courteous and the service was excellent.

We had booked the wine and dine option when we stayed at Ascot House. There was an excellent choice of starters, main courses and sweets and both my husband's vegetarian option and my lamb dish were well presented and thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, we dined at Ascot House before we ever booked to stay and were so impressed that we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Harrogate now..

I chose two courses and it was not expensive.The salmon was delicious, and had roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables.Service was fab and in very nice surroundings.

It was a Saturday evening but the beautiful bar was empty and the restaurant only had a couple of bookings. The waiters were friendly and helpful, knowledgeable. Food recommendation was fantastic but the only let down is ambience. It was empty because nobody seems to know about this place and it is a little further from the main bars and restaurants, but only by 2-3mins walk! I would definitely give this a try if you have not already done so. The portions were generous and the presentation was amazing. Hope more people can liven this place up and discover the wonders of magic of the staff and chefs.

Having stayed the night in the Hotel and slept like a baby I came down to breakfast bright eyed and bushy tailed to be greeted by a lovely member of staff. Offered coffee/tea and toast then directed to the cold buffet with a wide selection of fresh juices, yoghurts, fruits and cereals. I leisurely ordered the salon with scrambled egg... It was devine. Highly recommend this Hotel and compliments to the chef on his wonderful culinary skills.

Outstanding wonderful short break stay, food a real treat, friendly staff nothing to much trouble, parking tight but several spaces would defenatly stay again, rooms clean no negatives.

Stayed two nights in December on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The weather was freezing so we were glad not to have to venture out to find somewhere to eat. The restaurant was warm and nicely decorated for Christmas, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or efficient. The food was delicious - my slow-roasted belly pork was one of the best I’ve eaten, and the quantity not excessive as I often find elsewhere. The desserts were divine, and the breakfasts were equally excellent. We hope to return.

A very reasonably priced and enjoyable meal in a lovely old building. Breakfast is also very very good.

I can only reiterate my review for this hotel, they do serve meals to non residents and the food is excellent there is only a small dining room but I believe they have larger dining facilities for functions etc.,

We ate here when staying in the hotel and it was very good. The menu has a mixture of mainstream and more unusual choices. 3 of us all had different meals and all were excellently cooked and good quantities of food. The dining room is very pretty with beautiful carved ceilings and lots of light. Service very good also

The food at the hotel was excellent, best homemade tomato soup I have ever had, the breakfast was exceptionally good, all food freshly prepared and piping hot with great service.

I stayed 1 night at Ascot House and breakfast was included. You normally have low expectations when you book inexpensive accommodation, but this meal was absolutely fabulous. My sincere appreciation to the staff here. Well done, would happily return

We ate in the bar on our first night and in the restaurant on our second night. Both offered great quality food and first class service. I will definitely be going back, highly recommend it

Had a dinner and breakfast in this restaurant whilst staying in hotel, dinner was excellent, as was breakfast both in quality and presentation.

Our family have celebrated 2 landmark birthdays here this year, one for 35 guests in June in The Kings Room and one for 20 held in the dining room in November.As hosts we were given a very extensive menu and asked to offer our guests 3 choices for each course to be pre ordered. This meant that the events ran very smoothly on the days, both events were very enjoyable & well received by hosts & guests alike.Food, service & venue were all of very high quality and we felt represented very good value for money.Fiona & James made organising our celebrations very easy & we have no hesitation recommending Ascot House.

Quite a nice menu, all choices were good and aparently can change daily, somto. E that means fresh.We had read the previous days menu, the waitress checked and the chef was happy to make it.The chef actually came out several times to to chat and serve some meals and answer any questions.Very personable relaxing and tasty

My friends and I get together every couple of months myself driving over from Doncaster to enjoy the fabulous food and surroundings at the Ascot and we are never disappointed. The staff are wonderful and go above and beyond with their excellent food and service. Vegetarian is excellent to with a great all round menu. Already arranging our next visit in December.

We celebrated my mums 80th birthday here.We needed a venue that was central with car parking,and where my parents could stay over.Everything was perfectly organised, the table was decorated with white linen tablecloths and little cyclamen plants in a light airy room.We all assembled in the bar,which had a small sun terrace whilst perusing the tempting menu.Our party consisted of all ages including 4 week old baby.The food was tasty and well presented by efficient and courteous staff.My mum enjoyed the whole day and her stay at Ascot house.We would all certainly recommend this lovely venue.There is building works going on at the back but was no problem at all.Well done to all the staff .

Went to a privately arranged dinner for a good friends birthday and all went splendidly.Service and standard of food and drinks were very good indeed.Not easy to find in these rather squalid 21st century zero hours contract times we have to endure.Highly recommended for people of taste who like good food and drink served by pleasant people in comfortable surroundings..Not recommended for pretentious Harrogate diners who just love being ripped off by so called independant restaurant owners who do not provide the service and standard found here.

Delicious meal. They accomodated for dietary needs: vegan, gluten and dairy free.Portions were large and was unable to finish all of my meal!

We'd already booked a hotel for our Harrogate overnight visit when our local postman told us he always stayed at Ascot House if he went to Harrogate and would recommend it. We were very disappointed when we eventually checked into the place we'd chosen ourselves from a booking site so decided to dine at Ascot House to see if we liked it and with the idea that we might stay there on our next visit. We wanted to see it for ourselves so made a phone reservation and were pleased that they had a table for dinner available. We were welcomed in a delightful way and although there seemed to be a function taking place and all but one table in the dining room became occupied we both felt that we were given individual attention. The service was polite, professional and prompt though not rushed. There was a set price for two or three courses but we were not pressed to specify when we ordered. My husband and I both chose the caramelised red onion tart for the starter. It was beautifully dressed and seasoned, presented in a Fine Dining manner and it was absolutely delicious! I chose the leg of lamb main course which was served with seasonal, fresh, well cooked vegetables, roast potatoes, gravy and with two little side pots - one with cranberries and one with fresh mint sauce. I enjoyed it very much indeed . My husband is vegetarian and chose the fritatta which nestled on a bed of Mediterranean vegetables which he also enjoyed. We both had a glass of modestly priced, very palatable, house red wine but were both too full to attempt any of the third course options - though we were tempted! The price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of our dinner and we were very impressed with Ascot House. We will certainly be thanking our postman for his recommendation and looking to stay there when we are back in Harrogate in a few months time.

Ourselves and two friends dined in the restaurant during our recent stay at the hotel. Good menu selection, food was of a high quality, really enjoyable.

The restaurant was cosy, the food superb and the waiting staff, especially Umberto could not have been more helpful and charming. I fancy myself as a bit of a red onion tart expert and the one I had for my starter on one of the evenings we ate there was simply the best I have ever tasted! The restaurant was so good we didn't venture out to eat once during our 3 night stay, as we had intended.

Our company returned here for the second year and we were once again very pleased with the food and service. The room was very festive and the tables laid beautifully. Catering for over 30 is not easy but the food was hot and well cooked. The staff were efficient and attentive without being intrusive. All in all a great success. We shall return next year

As guests at the Ascot House Hotel we decided to try their restaurant as it was recommended by other Trip Advisor contributors.It was excellent, with an interesting menu and outstanding food. It would certainly be worthwhile seeking out the restaurant if staying in Harrogate. As hotel guests we were so pleased to be able to eat 'in house' and be served by the friendly professional staff.

We went to the Ascot House as a group of seven and we had the best meal in lovely surroundings with extremely attentive staff. Lovely menu, hot food, could not fault anything...................would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone, excellent value for money with excellent food and service. We'll be coming back again soon!!

Service was very professional and polite, lovely choice from the menu. Presentation was work of art and the taste was soooo good. Salmon moose for starter and the main meal was a phasent with trimmings.

It is not fine dinning and there is a limited menu that does not seem to change to often.The food is good well presented and served by staff who care. Think it is good value for the price compared to near by restaurants and if you are staying there well worth using

The wedding was a brilliant day thanks to all at Ascot House. Superb venue and beautiful meal. I would strongly recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding.

Last minute decision to go to Harrogate so found lots of hotels already booked. Decided on an evening meal at Ascot House and was very satisfied with the meal and service. Had I realised it was also a hotel, would have booked a room there, but thought it just a restaurant at the time of booking

Fabulous meal with excellent service which was fast, friendly & unobtrusive. The dining room is immaculately clean with beautiful white tablecloths & is light & airy with high ceilings & lovely features such as the ornate plaster ceiling. Following delicious bread with proper butter my starter of caramelised red onion & goats cheese tart was one of the best things I've eaten in ages. The kick of chilli & balsamic vinegar really added to it & the pastry was so crisp it was scrummy. Hubby had mushroom soup & croutons which he took ages to eat as it was lovely & hot & so delicious he was savouring every mouthful. We both had sirloin steaks with peppercorn sauce for main which were cooked medium rare just as we had requested. Our veg was also beautifully cooked. The whole thing was yum. For puds chocolate brownie, warm with ice cream & choc sauce for me & hubby had strawberry tart & ice cream both to be recommended to finish off the meal. The price of £28.95 each for 3 courses is amazing for this quality food & service. We were also staying in the hotel which I can also recommend & this restaurant is an added bonus to be able to eat in while staying here. Would highly recommend a visit to either the hotel, restaurant or both if you are on the area.

The restaurant at Ascot House Hotel is a real gem of a surprise with a good menu, food beautifully prepared and being called to table by maitre de Umberto is a delight. The 2 or 3 course meal selection is really good value and makes the decision to eat in very easy.

The Ascot house restaurant offers a warm friendly atmosphere. I have visited with friends 4 times now and the food presentation, service and taste is second to none. My favourite to date is the Mediterranean roasted vegetable tart with goats cheese.. Mmmmm

Don't tell everyone what a fabulous meal silver service staff helpful and food a real treat for anyone visiting the Town look no further than this you may have to book up as this place may get booked up as the word gets around of the five star food! .

We were hotel guests. Had 2 courses. Food excellent. Waiter very attentive. Reasonable price at £20 each.

Third time here with a group of friends. We are a mix of meat eaters and veggies and all find food we are delighted with. The atmosphere is great - lovely décor in the bar and food so attractively presented it looks like a work of art! We are always given lots of time to choose and eat each course but the service is there when you need it. Very reasonable prices for excellent service, food and atmosphere. I can't recommend it highly enough!

What a wonderful warm friendly atmosphere to enjoy a fantastic meal whilst catching up with friends. This was our 3rd visit as a group of usually 8-10 ladies who can sit and catch up with gossip whilst enjoying the choices of a delicious menu everyone of us totally enjoying our menu choices.Already talking about our next evening at The Ascot.

Although we were not staying at the hotel we were well received and sat in the lounge with a drink until our table was ready, which wasn't long. The table setting had a white linen table cloth and good silver. The meal, pheasant in a wine sauce was very tasty.The maitre d' who served us was very gracious and delightful. We would consider staying another time.

Breakfasts were very good with excellent choice. Even though were a largish party and all arrived together everything was served hot and fresh and we all ate together. Plenty to choose from on the cooked breakfast menu.Dinner menu was also good with plenty of choice. Some dishes varied each day whilst some of the 'favourite' seemed to be on each day. Very generous portions of meat. Would recommend the Pork!The food was presented well and the desserts were delicious - but choosing was hard!

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and service was excellent. There was a good choice for each course. Slow roasted belly pork was gorgeous and seved with fresh veg, piping hot and nicely presented.Could only manage two courses but desserts did look lovely.

Went to this restaurant for Christmas Day lunch and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted with champagne and nibbles before the main meal and the staff were very welcoming. One of the most delicious soups we've ever had...pumpkin. Main meals were tasty with manageable portions, turkey very tender, vegetarian was good but would've preferred some kind of gravy/sauce as was quite dry. Desserts were good although felt quite rushed to go back to the bar for tea and coffee afterwards. Overall very good service and food, we would go again.

A friend told us about Ascot House when we were looking for a venue for our golden wedding party.What a great choice we made,everyone from the proprietors to the waiting staff made us all. Feel at ease and made us welcome.The kings room was set out beautifully and all our guests raved about the food.We could not have made a better choice

Booked the restaurant for our first night meal as we were staying in the hotel. Good choice of food, excellent service and great value for money.

Not been for a while but its always good so decided to eat there Saturday night. Restaurant has been redecorated since we last ate here and along with the superb menu and wonderful service, it made for a great night. The refurbishments are modern yet with a classical touch and it works well. Ascot House is still the best food in Harrogate, with now possibly the best surroundings.

Top quality produce, expertly cooked, served by smiley but professional staff. Seemed to be a very busy restaurant during our stay.

Food & service are the same high standard as the rest of Ascot House. A good selection at both breakfast and dinner, cooked with care and served with style - and humour. Staff very helpful and friendly.

The restaurant is small (perhaps 5 tables) so you need to book if you plan to 'eat in' as we did. However the ambiance is lovely for an intimate small hotel dining room.The menu choices for the evening were limited, which was a good sign because they were all clearly freshly and attentively prepared. The wine list was fine and there were 3 white and 3 red wines available by the glass.We enjoyed a glass of each and were able to find wines that we enjoyed.My wife and I were entirely satisfied with our meals and the choice of wines and would 'eat in' again if we returned for an overnight stay.

An excellent dinner in comfortable surroundings with attentive & helpful service. On the traditional side but non the worse for that with a wide choice of menu options.

Never in my life have had such bad experience......we came as it was number 2 on tripadvisor....ended up in the bar and ordered drinks and deserts for two people.....mid way through the waiter arrived with the bill and asked us to pay....Never experienced this in a hotel before....you can be charged at the start or asked to do a tab.....when I said we might order more drinks....he said you need to pay for these first.....needless to say we didnt...cannot say much about the desserts also as they were not fresh and supermarket value range products.....will not be going back to this place everagain.

We always search out restaurants on the Internet, very carefully , for every location we plan to visit. Usually, we do not make dinner reservation at hotels as the food tends to be (in most cases) less interesting than at restaurants. We arrived at the Ascot House very tired and decided to just have a simple dinner there so that we can rest, foregoing our plans to eat out. Could not have made a better decision. We were welcomed at the dining room, even though we had no reservations. We ate there every night. Interesting menu, imaginative and skillful food preparation, lovely presentation, charming dining room.

Well stocked little bar. A quiet and tranquil setting. Excellent down to earth food, well served and good value too. Reasonable wine list with good quality house wines.

We stayed in the hotel and dined in the restaurant as it was included in our room rate. We weren't expecting too much because the price was so reasonable but the food was beautiful. I had cod for my main which was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had, my husband had pork belly which he also really enjoyed. The room where you eat is stunning and the service was exceptional. Very impressed and would definitely go back to the hotel and the restaurant.

This was my first time at Ascot House, but it will definitely not be my last. I went with a group of lovely ladies and we had a great night. The food was excellent and the service was very good. I would highly recommend Ascot House.

The dining area was nice and bright with plenty of space around the tables. There were plenty of choices on the menu. We choose the first course of Terrine and Melon with fruit that was perfect. The next choice was Sirloin steak with a pepper sauce that was pungent and medium heat and a belly pork dish, both were perfectly served with an accompliment of vegetables. For dessert we chose the Knickerbocker Glory. I believe this was their flagship dessert but we both felt that it was too heavy, rich and too much. That might be our issue, although I would have prefered a more fruit puree to balance the cream and ice cream.The bill with two drinks each was £74.80

Just finished lunch at Ascot House with a U3A Club - as usual excellent food, excellent service - had Christmas dinner with another club in December - we couldn't wait to book the restaurant again for December this year. Looking forward to my next meal there is March which is with yet another club

Few weeks ago now but ate at the hotel with some family from the south. Service from welcome to goodnight was impeccable: Not just waiting staff but every single staff member we saw. Food was absolutely excellent - a view shared by all of the party, including the two teenagers. Spent some time in the bar after dinner, and still shown the same level of attention and service.Really ticked all the boxes and then some - I will recommend this lovely hotel to anyone.

This review is an extract from my review of the hotel. We stayed on an inclusive Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rate. However, the restaurant is also open to non-residents. At the time of writing the tariff is GBP18.50 for two courses; GBP22.00 for three. I would say that represents outstanding value, especially given the standard we experienced.In total, twelve of us had dinner. The menu was brief, consisting of perhaps five choices in each of the three courses, and between the twelve of us, we probably tried most of the options. And I can say without doubt, every person enjoyed every single mouthful. It was all absolutely outstanding. Tasty dishes, tender properly cooked meat items, delicious sauces and so on. Despite our numbers and the fact we had not pre-ordered anything (we weren't asked to), the twelve meals were served promptly and were all presented fresh and hot. As with other aspects of this hotel, dinner was faultless. The restaurant is open to non-residents and I can wholeheartedly recommend anyone contemplating having dinner to reserve their table without hesitation.
