Stayed here with our dog. Room lovely very accommodating for our dog . Bed and food provided for her. Surroundings and views spectacular. We had a pint in the bar with our dog next to us. 8 course tasting menu deserving their Michelin star .Service by all the staff couldn't do enough for you. We would highly recommend this experience.

We were delighted with our celebration dinner, bed and breakfast at the Pentonbridge Inn. The service was outstanding throughout and every request was dealt with considerately. The room was comfortable and the bathroom splendid. The 8 course tasting menu was superb and the accompanying wine flight different and interesting with lots of variation. Excellent. Breakfast was just right as a compliment to dinner. We have eaten at 2 star Michelin establishments that are not as consistent as we experienced in our stay here. Thank you.

A wonderful stay in a secluded location just south of the Border. We were well looked after by Ross & Robert and thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience, including the comfortable, well appointed rooms and delicious food. Well worth a visit.

Outstandingly good. Greeted on arrival and shown to our room. Room was great with lovely large bathroom, walk in shower and bath. All appeared new or very well looked after. Bed was comfortable. Stayed after enjoying tasting menu and wine pairing which was fantastic . Would recommend. Breakfast was perfect, lovely smoothie and smoked salmon. Staff all very pleasant.

What can I say, absolutely outstanding, as soon as you walk through the door you a made to feel welcome, the atmosphere is relaxed yet sophisticated, the rooms are immaculate, the staff are very friendly informative, go abov and beyond. The food is outstanding, and totally worthy f a Michelin star. Ross the hotel manager remained professional at all times but also made you feel relaxed, the gentleman who served us our wine pairing was very informative and certainly new his stuff. I cant recommend Pentonbridge enough it truly is a hidden Gem well done to all. will certainly be back amazing stay.

Beautiful cooking, lovely balance of flavours, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Every course was lovely, but standout items were the beetroot meringue from the canapés, the cheesy biscuit with the amuse bouche, the smokey crunch of the almonds with the scallop....Oh, I was supposed to be picking highlights! The fish course, hake with sauternes sauce and crunchy salsify was delicious and a lesson I how to balance flavours and texture. We loved it and will be back.

This is not our first time dining at the Pentonbridge Inn and for my wifes birthday I decided to stay overnight so we could enjoy the evening and her special day. The accommodation was excellent and the service very polite and efficient. The evening however was ruined by the behaviour of the sommelier who was very polite but made a critical mistake. I had ordered a very expensive wine, a 2020 Pommard Les Vignots, Xavier Monnot at £130. The sommelier informed me that he couldn’t supply that wine but had an alternative, a 2019 Pommard Tavannes Domaine Ferand et Laurent Pillot that for me, he would let me have at the same price. Unfortunately I had my phone and using their excellent wi-fi was able to discover that the alternative wine retails for half the price of my original choice. Thats £38 vs £76 retail. This made me feel angry and upset. I pointed this out to the sommelier who said politely he would reduce the bill by £20. That of course was not enough. Its difficult to express my disappointment with his behaviour or the subsequent response of the manager who did little to ameliorate the situation. This was a very expensive stay that I would rather forget. The food was excellent but I didn’t enjoy my meal. My recommendation is to never accept anything this restaurant offers as a replacement and connect to the wi-fi if you do.

This was our second visit to Pentonbridge and I won’t be our last. Extremely well appointed rooms in a quiet setting in the country. The tasting menu was exceptional. An excellent wine list from which to choose your favourite tipple. More than deserves its Michelin star. Staff are friendly and professional. The fire in the lounge area was lovely to sit in front of on a cold November day

We went here for a "wine dinner", which was a first there, as far as I know. The sommelier selected wines, all produced by Casa Silva of Chile.The sparkling wine, to start, was not Chilean, bering two different champagnes produced by Joseph Perrier. The chef then produced a dinner to accompany the wines. We enjoyed the champagne as a pre-dinner drink and then with a selection of canapés, which were very good. The dinner comprised four courses. We started with North Sea halibut, with oyster mayonnaise, dill and apple; accompanied by Riesling Lago Ranco. This was followed by Scallop and Langoustine Tortelini in a coriander and ginger broth; accompanied by Viognier Lolol. The main course was pigeon (squab) breast with stuffed cabbage, plum and 5 spice; accompanied by Quinta Generation. The desert course was a selection of device, exotic fruits and coconut; accompanied by a Late Harvest blend dessert wine. The wines were all excellent and the matching food was impeccably prepared and utterly delicious. All the time we we entertained with descriptions of the wines and food. The atmosphere was informal and very friendly. There was no pressure, as we were allowed as much time as we wanted between courses. It was a memorable night and I heartily recommend Pentonbridge Inn for anyone who enjoys good food.

From the warm greeting at the beginning of our stay at The Pentonbridge Inn to a wonderful breakfast we had a lovely overnight stay for my husband's 60th birthday. The room was warm and beautifully furnished and, as we had booked a dog friendly room, included a dog bed and food too. This was our first visit following a recommendation from friends. We could not have been more impressed. From the moment of our arrival we were made to feel so welcome, our room was lovely and the bathroom amazing. We stayed at Netherby Hall coupled with an overnight stay at the Pentonbridge Inn, as part of our four-day wedding celebration before our drive home to Switzerland. Our deluxe room was exceptionally furnished, impeccably clean, warm, and incredibly comfortable. The homemade flapjack and the offer of fresh milk were delightful touches. Our evening commenced with champagne at the bar, served by Robert, the sommelier, followed by an introduction to the 8-course tasting menu and optional dishes. The dining experience that ensued was nothing short of exquisite. We added langoustines and a cheese course to the already sumptuous offering. Each of the 10 dishes was meticulously crafted, beautifully presented, and, of course, delightfully tasty. A true testament to the chef’s artistry. The ambiance was refined, and the service was impeccable. We entrusted the wine pairing to our sommelier, and it flawlessly complemented both the fish and meat dishes as well as our personal tastes. As the evening progressed, I couldn’t help but think that there have been so few moments of late when something has been so absolutely perfect that you never want them to end. Being able to share such a truly fantastic stay and gastronomic experience with my new wife was one of those rare moments. While the stay may not be endless, it’s an experience we won’t forget and will eagerly repeat when we return to Cumbria.

This place was, quite simply, outstanding in every way and well worth the Michelin star. Thinking about other Michelin places I've visited in the past, I do wonder how Michelin rank their restaurants as the Pentonbridge 'knocks the spots' off some 2-star venues. My OH and I had the 8 course tasting menu and it was superb in every way but the halibut and fillet of beef dishes were the stars of the show; perfect. Service was excellent; professional and not overly attentive but always on hand when required. We stayed in a room for the night on our way up to Scotland. The room was well furnished, warm, very comfortable and spacious. The only very minor niggle was the room was located next to the road. Luckily, it wasn't busy. Excellent VFM.
