My husband and I were lucky winners of the Lake District Competition which included an evening meal. The dining room has beautiful views and we watched the sunset over the mountains as we ate our staters. A fabulous start to the evening. My husband's main course, the lamb, was so tender he said it was the best he's ever had! The desert selection was so good I found it tricky to choose just one! A wonderful meal in great surroundings with excellent service.

We had dinner whilst we were staying in a hot tub suite. Every course was delightful and so tasty. Beautifully presented and they even brought out a special happy birthday dessert as a surprise! Great choice of drinks and cocktails too. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a lovely romantic atmosphere perfect for couples. In a morning you can enjoy looking at the lakes out of the conservatory windows whilst enjoying an amazing choice of breakfast dishes. Can’t wait to return!

This is a beautiful restaurant overlooking a nice view. The food was excellent. We had a potato and onion soup, fish&chips and the cauliflower steak- all delicious. Service was attentive and pleasant. Definitely recommend.

Dined in the Apple Restaurant the food was excellent and beautifully presented, with a varied menu , staff very helpful and nothing too much trouble Beautiful views from the restaurant. Highly recommend dining here. Looking forward to returning soon . Had afternoon tea in our room, beautifully presented food and lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes we chose to have a nice bottle of wine as well as our pot of tea. The price for afternoon tea is very reasonable and well worth the money, again would highly recommend trying this.

Hubby and I are staying in nearby bowness and booked an evening meal. So glad we did as we loved everything about it. Location, decor and service were all 5 star. Delicious meal and in a beautiful romantic restaurant. We will definitely stay here next time and book a room when we return.

The food in The Apple restaurant is amazing. Tastes delicious, well presented. The chef does an amazing job. All the food is locally produced and dietary requirements are catered for. It seems to be very popular with locals as well.

This is a lovely restaurant serving delicious locally sourced food. The Cumbrian lamb melted in the mouth served with the tastiest ever jus.

I found this restaurant thanks to a sign in Windermere town so decided to try it. As a single lady travelling around I was made to feel so welcome by the wonderful and friendly management and staff. I started with the Thai fish cake which was packed with flavour. I then had the Cumbrian lamb and all I can say is wow! So tender and great tasting. I thought I couldn’t manage a dessert but seeing others have them I went for the basil sponge with chocolate mousse. This was a perfect end to the night. This restaurant has amazing views and the fact you’re not rushed means I will be back when in the area again.

Amazing food & staff, everything is locally sourced & this is a truly family run establishment. Head chef Ross is exceptionally talented & deserves all recognition for it. I did question what exactly the deep fried Honey & Toast Gelato was. I was amazed to be told it was exactly what it says on the menu. Gelato wrapped in cornflakes & then deep fried. I had to try it - amazing & a must try. The ginger pudding with crème anglaise was also delicious. Waiting staff also fantastic & nothing too much trouble. Always service with a beaming smile. Well done all.

We have used this restaurant over the past 3 years and really liked the new menu this year. The food choices were excellent and we do like the views out across the hills in the evening. The layout of the tables gives you privacy but also a good ambience.

The food in The Apple was outstanding and reasonably priced. All local produce is used wich is of a high quality. I had the Deviled blanch bait with garlic aioli and chive oil and then the Lamb loin shepherd's pie. The presentation was exceptional and the service was perfect. Staff couldn't do enough. I will definitely go here again. Well done.

Outstanding quality of food. Beautifully presented. Tried different starters, mains and desserts on both nights and we could fault any of it. The taste was divine. We always look forward to our breakfast in the morning also. As the variety is incredible And it sets you up for the day. Wether you are climbing mountains or just having a ride on the lake. Also you don't have to be stopping in the hotel to eat in restaurant at evening. Anyone wanting excellent food and quiet atmosphere I would highly recommend.

The food was sublime. They hosted 8 of us on a long table. I had fish pie which was exceptional. The wine was nice. We had drinks in the bar first. The real fire and decore were stunning. The staff are friendly and relaxed. The price was very reasonable for fine dining. Highly recommend 👌

Wonderful food. Coconut Soup, Fish Scraps, Sea Bass, Cheeseboard, all full of flavour. Catered for an allergy issue with clear communication. Seating was intimate and private with a relaxed mood. Kevin served us and was excellent throughout. We will be back again when we return to Windermere.

Stayed in Applegarth Villa and had 2 evening meals at The Apple restaurant, this would have been all 3 nights had this been available. The food was out of this world, absolutely beautiful, the new Head Chef has created a fabulous menu with such choice you struggle to decide on what to eat as there are so many beautiful dishes to try. All made and freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients. It is a MUST to try this restaurant, and appreciate the effort and time which goes into each dish.

We ate here as part of our two night stay, and the food was excellent. We both had Kashmiri Cumbrian lamb which was the best lamb we have had in a long time. Beautifully presented and very tasty. We shared a cheeseboard which was also good - and enough for two.

Stayed at the AppleGarth for 3 night stay, decided to dine in the Apple Restaurant as a new chef had been employed the food was excellent my husband had the Kashmiri Cumbrian Lamb which was really nice, in fact he enjoyed it so much he had the meal again. I had the Fish Pie which was excellent too. The soups which we always enjoy again were really nice, very hot which I like. We always tend to have a sweet because they are always delicious and very hard to resist, to be honest what we have chosen from the menu has always been perfect we have never been disappointed. We are visiting over the New Year and cannot wait to see what is on the menu and I am certain we will enjoy it all

We dined at The Apple two nights during our four night stay at the Applegarth Hotel in addition to our four four breakfast meals. Meals are served in the conservatory which has views towards Lake Windermere and the beautiful hills behind. Breakfast first - a very good menu from which patron’s could select. All cooked items were cooked to order and were local produce. First class and very enjoyable. Evening meals - visitors can select from the menu their preferred courses. All the food is cooked to order and presented in a careful and thoughtful manner. Each course we had was delightful and extremely tasty. Faultless service enhanced the whole experience. Good selection of wine / drinks available to order.

We stayed for only one night as part of a half-term North of England road trip, but the food was the best we ate in our entire trip. A classic menu with an Uber contemporary twist. The lamb was outstanding; the service was friendly; respectful and professional and the wine list was extremely reasonable and of a very high quality. Highly recommend.

Excellent food in a beautiful surroundings, we had 3 courses all really tasty the highlights were the Cumbrian Lamb which was cooked to perfection and served with a tasty spicy sauce. The deconstructed rocky road brownie for desert was also really tasty, Staff were very attentive and service was excellent. A real Saturday night treat will definitely return

We chose from the new menu. We both had the arancini starter which was unbelievably tasty. For mains we had the pork schnitzel and the butter basted chicken. Both meals were beautifully presented and extremely tasty - the mash with the pork was the best I’ve ever tasted and the pork melted in the mouth. For dessert we had the poached rhubarb - every mouthful was a taste sensation and the pear & frangipane tart, again, delicious. We can’t wait to return to try the other things on the menu. Absolutely beautiful locally sourced produce, cooked perfectly, every meal was an absolute treat, had dinner every night of our stay and enough choice on the menu for something different every night, and everyone's dietary requirements catered for. We ate here totally last minute and it was well worth it! The dining room's decor is amazing, so much so that we have the wallpaper and furniture manufacturers details.... Anyway, onto the food, we had smoked trout and kofta to start, which were both delicious, followed by Salmon and chicken for mains, again which were both delicious. Only room for one desert, which was the cheese board, with local/ North West cheeses, again delicious. Another excellent, comfortable and enjoyable stay at this lovely hotel. Great location, easy safe parking and comfortable bed. We hope to return soon....only minor point would be a choice of better pillows, but it didn't stop us having a great nights sleep.

Clean, great food and wine. Due to COVID outside guests are not permitted to use the hotel bar and restaurant which did rather mute the atmosphere.

Another amazing stay for me and my partner at the applegarth villa suites .Dining in the restaurant that evening was the perfect way to enjoy the whole experience ( after a long walk , despite the rain , followed by sparkling hot tub ) .We enjoyed a pre drink in the bar , although it was busy it still had a lovely relaxing feel with the fire going .The owners took their time to chat to guests , before taking our orders .We settled with main courses and deserts , as from previous experience a starter would probably be too much . I selected the sea bream , my partner the pate topped pork fillet . The main seating area was set beautifully , and the meals both perfect ,my sea bream was delicate and cooked to perfection , as was the pork fillet dish . Finished with the best sticky toffee dessert , I recommend to leave room for this ! Thank you Applegarth for another perfect stay , there is no where that beats this 5* Hotel for a relaxing escape in the heart of the lakes .

We picked this place based off positive reviews and weren't disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff were keen to make us feel welcome, and looked after. For a time we had the restaurant to ourselves, but the staff managed the line between being present without making you feel as though they were hovering.The food was well presented and delicious. If we lived closer and had the budget we'd definitely be regulars.Certainly one we aim to return to next time we're in Windermere.

I have visited many many hotels and cottages in my life time, but never seen a suite with all high tech and fancy technology. The hotel/staff and location is absolutely outstanding. Food is fantastic, I had scallops for starter and salmon for main ( absolutely delicious recommended. Lovely greeting and introduction by the manager/Owner . The room, hot tab and the flat screen tv in the bath is absolutely out of this world.

Lovely meal in a lovely town Windermere. Beautiful interior, friendly staff and delicious food and drinks. We went here thinking we would have a two course meal but the food was so delicious we decided to have 3 courses. Lovely wine and great prices for food and drinks. It was a lovely romantic evening meal for us. We would definitely come back when we’re in Windermere.

We stayed at the Applegarth for 6 nights we ate in the restaurant every night the meals were excellent, good quality food and great service. On the Friday of our stay the menu was changed and for dessert we decided to have the highly recommended Kimi’s Artisan Gelato Selection, it was beautiful we would definitely have it again we enjoyed it so much. If you enjoy your desserts please try this, my husband also highly recommends the Turkey Escalope and the Pork Tenderloin.

Tonight we visited the restaurant at Applegarth Villas for our wedding anniversary and we could not fault the quality of food and service, it was excellent. We were made more than welcome by our hosts Suzanne and Alan, the food and wine was varied and delicious and we will certainly be revisiting in the very near future to endulge our selves and family in the beautiful surroundings and fine dining. An experience to savour.

We went there for a special birthday. Beautiful place. Staff are well presented, courteous and attentive without being invasive. The food was fabulous and they even gave me a lovely birthday treat of chocolates on a decorated plate. We couldn’t fault anything, until it was time to pay the bill. A very scruffy, disheveled man scuttled over to our table with the card machine to take our payment. It all seemed at odds with the rest of the place. He barely looked at us and then scuttled off again. We didn’t know what to make of it and re left wondering if the staff got the tip we left.

Having stayed here last year, we decided to return to celebrate my 65th birthday, we decided to have evening meal in the restaurant, was a little disappointed that no effort was made to decorate the table, but having said that we were not disappointed by the food we both had the chicken with haggis which was excellent. We also had breakfast on the three mornings we were there which was really lovely with plenty to choose from. All the staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is to much trouble for them.

My girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves on the last day of our holiday and were most impressed with our choice. The bar is an elegant and relaxing place to enjoy a cocktail before being seated in the restaurant.

We were staying at the hotel and ate breakfast and dinner on both days. The food was amazing; the price simply does not do justice to high quality of dishes served. I would quite happily have paid the price of the entire 3 course meal for the main course alone. My wife and I weren't staying at the hotel, but decided to make a dinner reservation here after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. What a mistake.

My husband & I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and ate in the restaurant on our second nights stay.

We were staying in the Hotel for my husbands birthday so decided to eat there as well , so very pleased we did , the table had a lovely touch birthday sprinkles .

We enjoyed 3 wonderfully delicious meals with friendly and professional service. The lamb in particular was very tasty as was the cream brulee. In fact all the meals were most delicious and were genuinely the highlight of our holiday. The accommodation was very comfortable and plush. All in all we thoroughly recommend the hotel for accommodation and the restaurant for delicious meals.

Lovely place, great atmosphere, owners and staff were friendly and attentive. The menu was good, the food excellent and very well presented. We retired to the bar after dinner and enjoyed the rest of the evening in comfort sampling the excellent selection of malts and gins. We will be visiting this restaurant again.

How this place could be number 8 in Windermere is beyond me. Rock hard overcooked slab of black pudding with an overcooked egg that had clearly been poached wrapped in plastic.

This restaurant is truly fabulous, whilst staying at Applegarth we dined in the restaurant on both evenings, the food was perfect. Fillet steak cooked to perfection, with a beautiful peppercorn sauce. Pan fried sea trout was so tasty and you could tell by the taste how fresh it was. The desserts are amazing to cinder toffee ice cream with a salted caramel sauce and a homemade meringue, just Devine, melted in your mouth. Even is you are not staying at Applegarth Villa, just try this restaurant, you really don't know what you are missing!
