Booked for a birthday treat. Beautiful location. Staff very friendly and prompt service. Nice touches in room and beautiful rooms but windows and bathroom looking slightly tired (helm crag room, no 27). A lot of stairs. Food delicious. Not sure why they didn't use guacamole rather than garden peas (not crushed as per menu) on breakfast with poached egg. Spa is lovely but is only small so gets busy easily and then only chairs are outside.

Lovely hotel, with good food and hard working staff, could do with a couple more to help out though.

Very expensive. Limited food menu. Drinks expensive at the bar and gratuities added on final bill. Would not visit again.

We had an absolutely amazing short honeymoon here - the food was absolutely stunning, definitely some of the best we've ever had, and the service was absolutely perfect down to the decoration of the table and special desert congratulating us on our marriage, and a free room upgrade. Thank you to the whole team and Dominic specifically who went the extra mile to make it the perfect honeymoon stay for us. We very much look forward to being back for our anniversary already!!!

I surprised my boyfriend with a weekend away last April for his birthday. The rooms were immaculate and so spacious. The Spa was a great wind down area after long walking in the lakes. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend ❤️

Lovely hotel and spa with great views and easy walking distance to centre of Grasmere and surrounding area. The food is very good but expensive for dinner if on a budget. Free use of the Spa was a good touch, especially after a day of hill walking. Would definitely stay again.

6th November we visited the Garden Restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's 70th birthday. We had a memorable evening planned, having booked a nearby stay at Hotel Daffodil with breakfast and dinner included. To make the evening extra special, I had arranged a surprise for him by phone and at the restaurant. I specifically requested that the dessert come with a candle and that the staff sing "Happy Birthday" when serving it. As a diabetic, I had carefully selected a dessert in advance as part of this surprise for him. Unfortunately, the staff failed to follow through on this simple request. When they served the dessert, it arrived without the candle or any special acknowledgment-it was presented as though it were any other meal. I tried to address this with the waiter, but he seemed indifferent. When I asked to speak to the person responsible, another staff member informed me that he was "too busy" and sent the bill through a different colleague, without any apology for the oversight. The lack of care and courtesy shown was deeply disappointing, especially on such an important occasion. I expected more sensitivity and attention to detail from a place like Garden Restaurant. Celebrations like this are rare and meaningful, and the lack of effort put into making it special left us feeling let down.

Had a good stay here. Nice and quiet and centrally located with easy accessibility to the lakes. Hotel itself was quite nice. Staff were friendly-ish. I would not spend a lot of money staying here. Had to pay £20 extra for 2 nights of parking. Not a 4 star hotel. Rather 3.

Rooms were nice. We had a nice little balcony overlooking a river. The tv was very small and the blind which covered the window didn’t pull up or down was stuck to the wall via some Velcro. Food and staff were 10/10. Nothing was ever too much trouble. My only issue was the menu was too small too eat here several times, due to the area there is not many places for dinner so you are almost secluded to your hotel, however I do understand it is common for rosette establishments to have a reduced menu to maintain standards. Breakfast has a good range of selection including continental and a hot breakfast which was always delicious. The spa was okay the best bit was the hydro spa pool, but you do have to book a 40 minute time slot throughout the day to go you can’t just go when you fancy, which I understand is too stop the spa becoming over it’s capacity but it does feel like you have to plan your day around your spa time. The hotel is in good area lots of walks and trails near by.

We regularly travel to Grasmere and even when we aren’t able to stay at the Rothay Garden Hotel, we always make sure we go for dinner one night at their Garden Restaurant. The food is excellent, and the menu is regularly changed though out the year. Chris the GM and Robbie the restaurant manager have a superb team that are always willing to go the extra mile. Congratulations to you all on the recent award of your 2 AA Rosettes.

Pleasant venue, it's not often you find a venue that know less is more when it comes to background music and 70' 80's music era. Staff were very accommodating and pleasantly friendly. Food was both of quality and plentiful. Reasonably prices and overall a great experience. This place is a must for locals and those visiting.

Great food and friendly service. We ate enormous club sandwiches, looking out at beautiful views of Ambleside, while our dog slept peacefully under the table.

It is a SUPER dog friendly Bed & Breakfast nestled in the heart of Cartmel Valley! The hotel is absolutely stunning & the staff truly make you feel spoilt with their evening turndown service & glass of champagne on arrival. They didn't forget about our dog either, she was also treated like royalty with her orthopedic bed, doggy welcome pack & treats throughout her stay. They even have a doggy shower room which is PERFECT after long walks in the Lakes!!! The breakfast was absolutely delicious and used local products from the area. In the evening we used the complimentary chauffeur service for a lift into the beautiful village of Cartel (we chose to walk back through the gorgeous fields surrounding the hotel). Honestly this was such a beautiful stay.
