My instincts were found to be very good as I went here instead of others, which were nearer. Glad I did as the haddock was great and excellent chips....Great British fayre done great. Owner and young assistant very friendly, genuine people. I highly recommend this take-away.

Lovely battered jumbo sausages and chips. Real gem of a place tucked away. If I'm up that way again I will definitely pay a visit. Kept me well fed for my 5 hour drive back diwn South.

Really wanted to enjoy it because the location is very convenient for us but unfortunately the chips were super anemic, fish was really salty, tasted like a frozen fillet you can buy yourself. This is such a plague with fish&chips shops at the moment. Maybe I missed the memo and that's how it's supposed to be done, maybe ingredients are so expensive now that it's the only way. Well, I rather just go just twice a year and get it at the seaside. Only way you can get fish and chips done property anymore. I can't justify the cost otherwise.

I travel from a small village just outside Kendal, this village has a chippy but Sandylands is well worth the drive.

Went for simple fish and chips Pensioners on fixed income and a rare treat Small clean shop everything “cooked” to order Staff friendly Shop not busy Menu said fish, no mention of what sort When we got home opened the chips They were very anemic, no browning at all The anonymous fish was cooked through, batter crispy unfortunately the “meal” was spoiled by the chips Sorry but another to be crossed off the list There must be a good fish and chip shop in Kendal, we’ve just got to find it

I've tried various chippys in Kendal and this is my new favourite. The fish ( which I'm fussy about) is cooked just right, as are the chips. It's also the cleanest one I've visited.

Fish was quite nice but that’s about it, chips were a bit tasteless and staff was quite rude, wouldn’t recommend

I'm still on the fence with this place. Been several times, once everything tasted of sausage. Even though we had fish. Wasn't nice at all. Next visit very greasy. Third visit 9nly ordered chips they were really good. 4th visit fish and chips and it was outstanding. 5th visit should make up my mind.

You have to order fish etc when you are in the queue but it's well worth waiting for. First class service very friendly staff and a excellent 5 star food hygiene rating Would recommend it to anybody

me and dad tried this on recommendation , big mistake manky chips , horrible fish with bland batter but it was the long black Hair in the mushy peas that was the finish ......grossed out .

Recently started visiting this chippy and I'm gutted I haven't used this one sooner I have been missing out all this time. Very nice staff I'm always greeted with the most lovely smiles and the over all service is excellent. Generous portions size and still hot when I arrive home. The fish is the best I've tasted to date and Its so nice to be served by people who actually enjoy their job. Will deffinalty be using this chippy from now on

First time last night for fish and chips with gravy and cheese and we were really pleasently surprised at how tasty they were. The batter was perfect, the chips were very yummy ... They even use tasty cheese! We have found a new favourite chippy even though slight out of our way. Def worth it! We had a right giggle in there too... Staff were great.

Best chippy in Kendal in my opinion

A huge portion of chips ( and I do mean chips, not these little crispy euro things !) , very tasty and served by staff who have an interest in both the product and in their customers. I'd like to say how filling the chips are but after returning my car and driving into Kendal, I made the mistake of offering my family a taste of my now prized chips, a mistake I will never make again ! One taste and they pinched more than their fair share !!! We're rarely in Kendal, and as i can't believe there are not more reviews on Trip advisor, I can only assume the Sandylands Fish & Chips locals have too long been spoilt and have become accustomed to these high standards and except it as the norm . As my freinds, family and locals would love to be likewise spoilt I ask again....is it possible to move a chippy ??

Sandylands chippy is very popular and at opening times it is always very busy. The fish and chips are great and good value for money as is the rest of the food on offer. Although perhaps a little out of the way for some, if you like fish and chips, Sandylands chippy is well worth the effort it takes to get there.

Really tasty fish & chips, but make sure you are hungry as the portions are huge. The staff are very friendly , well worth a visit.
