Not been to Papa's for a while before visiting lunch time today. Not too busy for a Thursday. The food is still excellent, served piping hot and in good time. We had the 'Seniors Special' which was a good sized piece of cod, plenty of chips and also included a buttered roll and hot drink. The prices are keen and the service is friendly and good. Recommended.

Service was horrendous, waitress not interested, no dialogue, overpriced, maianaise served in a refilled dirty Heinze bottle, definitely not filled with Heinze, £39 two meals and two drinks, overpriced, when we paid no conversation at all, definitely won't be going back, use to be very good a few years ago, must be new owners, avoid

We popped in for a quick lunch and were treated to a wonderful seafood experience. Wanting a light lunch, we were soon mulling over a great menu with so many choices. We went for 3 starters of oysters, scallops with black pudding and boquerones. Delicious!

Came yesterday for a Sunday Roast. Poor quality food. The meat was like it was from a foil tray type of roast. Not proper Turkey breast meat. Frozen roast potatoes. Veg were disgusting and had a twang to them. Probably frozen . Cabbage was yuk. Parsnips hard and tasteless. The best thing was the yorkshire pudding. I wont be returning again. We gave it another try after saying we wouldn't return earlier this year. I had been coming to this pub for years but over the last year has gone right downhill. Don't waste your money. What a shame

What a pleasure and privilege it is to have James and Emma running our local pub. From the service (major call-outs to Emma, Aiden, Lottie, Mark and all the other serving crew!) to the incredible food (James and team, you know who you are) to the overall vibe, The Oddfellows Arms in Caldbeck is a treasure of a local. James uses imported spices to make the freshest curries, and it shows — I was so surprised when I first tried them to find out that they were fresher than anywhere I’ve tried in London, and easily on par for taste! Sunday roasts are a treat, and I’ve really falling for the pork belly recently! Also, James and the kitchen team will regularly do special events, like Indian night, Asian night etc, which are always so special and like traveling internationally without the airfare. Thank you, Oddfellows Arms Caldbeck!

Visited in September 2024 whilst on holiday, we couldn’t take dogs inside (fair enough) but we then asked if we could eat outside and was told no, asked if we could just get a drink outside and was also told no. What’s the point in putting tables outside? Terrible hospitality - I wouldn’t bother giving them your money, let alone my own.

The following is an email I have sent to the cafe. After the below incident we did go back after our boat trip and had a pleasant experience, the other staff were polite, the food was good and the service was prompt… Just hope you don’t end up being served by the resident Vicky Pollard waitress that works there. Luckily there was no sign of her when we returned for lunch, she was probably in the back sharpening her tongue. She totally lets the place down, my stars would have been a lot higher if it wasn’t for that socially inept plebe… management can you be careful who you are hiring?! Hello, We have just now visited your cafe on our way to catch a boat and we wandered into the cafe thinking we’ll have a look to come back and have bite to eat later and to ask where we book for the boat. Obviously we knew we wouldn’t be booking from the cafe but we were lost and looking for directions. I politely said excuse me to one of the waiting staff, a young slim female, and then said do you know where reception for booking the boat is. She looked at me with an angry disgusted expression on her face before abruptly snapping “what!!” She was like Vikki Pollard. I repeated my question and she again very ignorantly said “I don’t know!! We’ve got nothing to do with boats!! We’re a cafe! She then put her nose in the air, turned and walked away from me. Luckily there was a man behind us who heard the whole thing and happened to be the person responsible for the boat we were to catch. He informed us. I’ve worked in hospitality and attractions for decades at a senior level, I was disgusted at her behaviour and attitude, what an embarrassment, as a manager I certainly would not tolerate that, there was absolutely no need for it, she could have just politely said sorry I’m not sure, and directed me else where. Can I suggest you ensure your staff have at least some communication skills and customer service skills or at least learn some basic manners. She was acting like she’d been dragged up!!

In arrival to the Hartford mill, me and my partner got a carvery and was greeted by a loverly lady named Tracy, Tracy was very warm hearted and perlite. After we had finished Tracy then approached again and asked if everything was okay and if we wanted anything else, made me feel like I was at my pedants house very loverly

Just visited, didn't know what to expect as I hadn't made the booking. Gabriella served us excellently, steaks were the best ever, and she ensured we had all we needed without being overbearing. Definitely recommend this place, will be back next time I'm in Lincoln
