Just as strong as it began, it unfortunately faded. I opted for the 2-course menu for £33. The chicken liver parfait was incredibly good, even if the presentation was a bit sad. Perfectly seasoned, great consistency, the parfait harmonized perfectly with the chutney and the bread. First class!!! Then came the duck leg. Succulent but unseasoned. The bean cassoulet also tasted of nothing. I counted two pieces of the bacon that was supposed to be in it. There was also broccoli on the plate, which tasted quite good, and the green mint pesto, which, besides the duck fat crumbs, was the most flavorful thing on the plate. I ordered potatoes in garlic butter with the main course. The overcooked potatoes were neither salted nor did they taste of garlic. Not even the butter they were swimming in tasted of anything. Since the waitress was working in another room with her colleague, I unfortunately had to wait until I could ask for salt. Unfortunately, she didn't ask if I liked the food. However, the tip of almost £5 was generously added to the bill. I would go back for the starter, but the duck main course was a complete disappointment. The Pinot Grigio was delicious. You could pay by card.

Our favourite place to dine out locally. Sunday lunch for the two of us was, as ever, first class. Polite, professional staff and excellent food prepared and served in welcoming surroundings. Word of advice for would be diners: book early as they are understandably very popular.

Used to love coming to bear for food but my last couple of visits have been mediocre to say the least. Veggie breakfast this morning came out without halloumi (the main centre piece to a veggie breakfast) no communication that this would be the case. Spoke with a member of staff who thought they may have run out the previous day. Told a delivery had arrived and they would prepare some. I had to asked for the rest of the breakfast to be returned to the kitchen to keep warm.. the results a Luke warm (clearly been sat out on the side) breakfast with an overcooked poached egg. For £13.90 I'll be going else where in town for my breakfast.

The burger pattie was over cooked as was the bacon. Cheese was tasteless. Good bun, salad topping and sauce, a relish would have been nice option. Plenty of proper chips. Onion rings again tasteless. There were several other burgers on the menu and specials board. My wife enjoyed the Cajun chicken. Beer and wine were good. Service was excellent.

Highly rated and rightly so. Quiet on a Friday lunch time but what a lovely lunch served by Mandy with photo of us taken by the chef! Great ale by Wensleydale Brewery (a highlight of this trip in many locations!) as an aperitif followed by stunning lamb, and two starters as a main soufflé and fishcakes. All 3 were really good. Then the rhubarb crumble and the rhubarb dessert - both with Yorkshire rhubarb at its best. Good wine by the glass and great coffee to finish with a nice little in house made chocolate cornflake bite on the side! Cannot wait to go back and thanks for make our post Leyburn Circular walk lunch such a memorable Experience.

A really lovely find. We had a little look around the antique place down the road and really fancied a steak lunch when finished. We came across the Merry Harriers pub and it was perfect. A good selection of drinks and the food menu was perfect, lots of choice. We enjoyed the steaks, but I had food envy as my daughter had the Chicken Fajitas, that looked awesome!
