I have had a few problems with this bakery and cafe, i don't think they care about the quality of food they serve, i bought a tuna salad roll and honestly the roll was solid on the outsides, when she cut the roll she definitely would have felt how hard the roll was so i threw it in the bin, i am not going back i would have thrown that bread in the bin not served it, if you are a bakery your bread should be good not rock hard.

I and my family often call in to the bakery for lunch and bread, and are unable to fault a thing with the food - it's consistently delicious. However, many times we have felt that we are an inconvenience to staff when placing an order. As locals who walk to the bakery to support a local business this is a real shame, particularly as the visiting white van drivers who double park along the road seem to get friendlier and more attentive customer service. A great bakery for food nonetheless.

Nice bread, rude very stressed staff, would never go back, would be an asset to the village if they concentrated a bit more on local trade rather than all the white van men parked illegally on the pavement

There's a good range available, from snacks to small meals, at unusually reasonable prices too.The setting is excellent, the staff very helpful, and there's a library of books for sale at knockdown prices. Haslington is quite a large village now, and the bakery cafe is a really good stop-off point, if you're out on a walk or just visiting the area. I recommend it!

We decided to grab a bit of breakfast here before a friend had to head back to London, we have recently moved into the area and have been meaning to try this cafe for some time, two of us had the big breakfast and two of us had poached eggs on toast, the freshness and quality was incredible, the lady running it was friendly, the prices were very very reasonable, and the rest of the menu sounded excellent! Thrilled to be so close! Thank You!

This is a tiny little cafe, very cosy and friendly though. The staff were lovely, apart from one who seemed to not bother with customers, at all! They made us lovely fresh, beef and horseradish on focaccia bread, with side salad and crisps. I will definitely return with my husband for breakfast soon! While we were there, i Noticed some books for sale on Haslington and Winterley, i have been looking for these books for months! They were reduced in price too, so i was thrilled. There is a bakery next door that belongs to them, the cakes looked delicious, but I had no more room! Be careful about parking though, there are double yellow lines at the front, try and park in one of the side streets instead.

I have enjoyed bread, brownies and Bakewell slices from the bakery and tea in the tearoom in the past. I went to a funeral at the village church two weeks ago and in the Church Hall we were greeted by a wonderful spread of sandwiches, cakes and fruit. It was plentiful, top quality and nicely arranged. Even the funeral Director commented that he had rarely seen a better spread. The standard of the outside catering is to be recommended.

The Yellow Broom is best described as a blend of pure elegance with a splash of sophistication. The setting is undeniably beautiful, complemented by a warm welcome from the staff, who are clearly well-trained in delivering exceptional silver service. The menu offers a well-balanced selection of cuisine, ensuring there's something to delight every palate. The presentation of the dishes was nothing short of exquisite, and the flavors were simply delightful. The staff were remarkably attentive without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant were both appealing and comfortable, enhancing the overall dining experience. The Yellow Broom is a truly first-class establishment that consistently maintains high standards. I highly recommend a visit—you will not be disappointed.

The lady who runs it was welcoming insightful and charming. She gets all her meat from the local butcher which is first class. She was passionate about food and her recommendations dovetailed beautifully. My sister ate the mushrooms on toast, which she gave me to try. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and the sauce was a perfect blend of flavour and consistency. They were really good, the lady who sat next to us has been coming for years and also recommended them, it was easy to see why. I myself had the brie and bacon ciabatta with chutney. The chutney was cooked in a slightly curried sauce which was lovely. Although I would have liked a slightly sweeter sauce maybe blueberries to cut through the mild salt in the bacon and brie but it was excellent none the less. Three breakfasts and pot's of tea for £14 per person was incredible value. I finally remembered years ago taking my daughter here for her birthday lunch and she kept asking me to take her to the place with the train running overhead, I couldn't remember at the time but she'll be overjoyed to hear I've found it. Fantastico, grazie.
