Exemplorary in every way. Really good proper pub. Great food and amazing customer service. Look forward to visiting again!

Stopped by 7th April Friday afternoon. Just for a snack, I ordered the ham sandwich and Hubby had the three cheese sandwich, we ordered the chips as a side just incase the sandwiches were small. But we needn't have bothered. The sandwiches were quite large served with salad and coleslaw. And the brown bread roll wow very crusty (was it homemade) not had a sandwich like that ever. Really enjoyed it. And will be back definitely.

Great beer snd atmosphere. Foods OK chips r never golden brown.

Sunday dinner never disappoints and its a lovely place to bring the dog and family with being on the canal walk. Always a good atmosphere.

Went for mothers day a treat from my 2 sons ,there was 6 adults and 4 kids we all had a wonderful meal ,highly recommend this place ,the staff are lovely .thanks for a wonderful meal

Charming country pub with great food

Lovely pub in a lovely little village, we had the fish and chips, mushy peas and hand cut chips, was delicious.

Lovely friendly welcome, we'd booked which I was pleased we had as it was quite busy even on a Monday lunchtime. Service excellent, food delicious, very dog friendly (including dog treats on the mantelpiece!) what more can I say?!

Seems a nice pub. Nice seating area outside to sit with dogs outside and heaters keep you warm. Only downside was that its used as a smoking area by the locals 🤧

Delicious risotto and steak and ale pie. Gorgeous chips and delicious,flavoursome gravy. We'll come again.

Excellent food and service. Would have been 5 stars across the board but the room was a little cold. Maybe get that big range fire going on cold days.

We absolutely love The Kings Head! Our go-to spot for weekend walks – the welcoming staff and cozy atmosphere make it a fantastic place to be. A bonus that the outdoor area is suited to any weather, meaning we don’t have to de-layer to stop for a quick pint, and can sit nice and warm under the heated shelter. Whether it's a family outing or any occasion, the amazing food and friendly atmosphere never disappoint. Highly recommend!

A lovely place to visit. Welcoming and friendly staff, dog friendly, which is a massive bonus We were all made to feel extremely comfortable. The food! Absolutely delicious, the beef was the softest and most beautifully cooked I have ever tasted in nearly 40 years. You should all be very proud. Well done and thank you. Been a couple of times now for lunch and dinner and always top notch food, ales and service. Lovely pub inside and out, once you've found somewhere to park. Dog friendly too.

I didn't eat there but as I was passing through on a narrowboat I decided to go and have a leisurly pint. This pub is my ideal of the relaxed pub of long ago. I was made to feel welcome by the bar staff and also the regulars there. It has a certain relaxed buzz with a steady stream of customers each adding a little bit mor to the atmosphere. A totaly engaging and lovey pub that I will go to again. And maybe go and eat there too.

What a WONDERFUL evening! All the staff are so friendly and attentive and the food was simply out of this world! The lasagne was delightful and the Veg Gratin (recommended from their Instagram) was to die for. I can’t believe it was all homemade and so reasonably priced; you’d expect to pay top top prices for food this good - and the warmest of welcomes from the Kings Head team just simply tops it off! Nothing was too much trouble - even when the beer had reached the end of the barrel, the girls just replaced it immediately (p.s. the beer is kept excellently)

Staff, service and food are brilliant! We are always made to feel so welcome and the staff are excellently attentive. The food is absolutely out of this world and our dog gets more attention than we do!

Had lunch here, fishcakes were more like mashed potato cakes and overcooked and dry. The place was freezing cold, our entire party kept their coats and scarves on all through our visit. All in all a very poor experience and definitely wouldn't bother to return.

Fantastic pub, even better staff. The food is brilliant and always have numerous specials on offer which is constantly changing. We will be visiting again

Staff were so friendly to us and our toddler and our two dogs! Sunday roast and dessert were fantastic! So fresh and cooked to perfection, full of flavour. Beautiful, clearly home cooked food and desserts.

Can't understand why at present only 4.7. This is a proper locals pub with great selection of real ales and an excellent menu with happy and friendly staff.

This was a lovely quiet pub (week night when I went) Lovely people behind the bar. Lovely food, with a wide range on offer and lots of specials. Just the right level service, helpful, polite but not overly nagging you for next course or drink. Probably only minor point is due to narrow street there is only on street parking. but spaces usually 300m up the road. would recommend

Super helpful staff - gave great recommendations. Veggie rissotto was great and meat eater friends raved about the pork. Lovely old pub. Nice beers. What is not to like. Just a little more custard with the lovely plum crumble please 😎

10/10. Stopped for a random pint and came back a few hours later as the atmosphere is so nice. Ordered onion rings, lamb kofta, scampi, sponge pudding and Madri. Absolutely fantastic. The landlord Paul is running a great pub and amazing bar staff. Will be back very soon!! Also brought our dog, treats provided and a very cute outdoor seating area 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Had an impromptu Sunday lunch with wife and granddaughter aged 2 and nothing was too much trouble despite them being busy. Excellent food including kids meal which has ice cream dessert included in the price. And Timothy Taylor's Landlord too. Also provided colouring paper and pencils. Will definitely be back

We'd booked for 11 people as a lunch stop on a canal boat trip, so couldn't be sure of timings or even how many people until the day before. We were asked to put our order in the day before or latest the morning of our visit, which was fine, and everything not only went very smoothly, but was really delicious. They do a smallish (but not too small) menu extremely well. Service was excellent too. Thanks so much.

Probably the best pub in Macclesfield! The staff are really welcoming and friendly, and the team that Sally runs is very professional at the same time. The menu is extensive, with excellent choice of daily specials each day. The service is quick and efficient, given the fact that quite often there are plenty of people there. It is 'more than' dog friendly, going out of their way to fuss dogs, and provide water and treats. Outside covered seating is available for the warmer days - and being able to eat outdoors just adds to the overall experience. And the food is always freshly prepared, superbly tasty and never disappoints. As a pensioner I really appreciate the smaller portion Sunday Roast - excellent! So - if you haven't been then put it on your list - you will probably end up regulars like us - but at busy times, like weekends, you need to book to avoid disappointment!

I went to this pub on Sunday 29 July 2018. We arrived late but nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our meals came quickly and the service was great.

My friend and I visited here after trying to find a dog friendly gastro pub and we spotted it at the last minute. So glad we did! The pub is really cosy inside and staff were so welcoming.

El pub ha vuelto a abrir sus puertas bajo nueva dirección después de un cierre que creo duró unos pocos meses.

Este establecimiento ha luchado durante años y se apaga. Una vez una histórica lucha de autobús, parece que hoy día, con tráfico de coches bomba pasado y nunca prestar atención a qué era una preciosa lugareña. Sin embargo, no hay mucho en el camino de acceso minusválidos personas, aparcamiento o alojamiento, así que el Sutton Hall y la Iglesia Casa conseguir la participación que el King's Head se merece.

Excellent food and service. Good selection of specials and standards with frequent speciality nights. Great value and quality. Excellent location down a set of steps from the Macclesfield Canal. Pub dog friendly and clientele a good mix of locals and boaters.

Brilliant little boozer, pubs are to die for, especially the sausage, black pudding and mushroom. Quiz nights a good laugh too! Would recommend!

Came with friends on 27/08/16 for a catch up with friends. Our meal came quickly and we were very pleased with the speed and quality of the meal. Food was tasty and well cooked. Overall a very pleasant evening and we will visit again.

Nice pub, very welcoming and friendly service . Enjoyed the special beef storganoff, beef stir fry and lamb burger. Nice varied menu Very attentive and food was very tasty. Nice atmosphere and not too noisy so easy to chat.

Went out for tea with my husband, he had the gammon egg and chips , I had the 10oz steak and chips , wasn't worth nearly£18 pounds for a very chewy fatty steak, with frozen chunky chips a few mushrooms and a tomato covered in cracked black pepper , have a alergy to pepper, my husbands gammon steak was fatty too , his was priced at nearly £11 pounds , nice friendly staff but my food was a let down , won't be going again

Moored here after a hard day on the locks and found this brilliant little pub. The prawns and the chicken liver pate starters were delicious. The special sea bass excellent and I had the best fish and chips ever. Too bad we don't live near.

Stopped in here during our canal holiday. Very nice pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord, great food and friendly service. Recommend the Saturday night food offer of 2 sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine for £25

The staff were very friendly and nothing was any trouble. All our meals were lovely and served on hot plates. Always a plus! Would definitely recommend. They catered for our party of 25 efficiently and with a smile.

Nice little pub serving some great food. The staff we were served by were all great, friendly and offered superb service. Food was very good. Only problem was our dishes came with skinny fries and chunky chips on the wrong meals, usually this would knock down to 3 or 2 in my rating for a simple order but the rest of the experience overrode this on this occasion and I'm sure the staff would have quickly resolved if we'd asked. Visit this pub.

a company walk around Sutton was ended at the kings head ,it finished the day off a treat soup,sandwiches and plenty of real ale, all superb a credit to the owners a real gem hidden away,will be back soon

Have just moved back to the area and thought I would share my thoughts revisiting places I used to go into. Wish I hadn't bothered. Went to the Kings last night, it was busy and there were a few people eating and a few people with dogs in. That's the only nice thing I can say about it. In between the main bar and the restaurant area, there were 10 or so young lads sharing about 3 pints between them. The language was foul and loud. It was obvious that other customers weren't enjoying the place either as I looked around. It looked more like a hang out for apprentice drug dealers or really bad track suit catalogue models. I wouldn't bother going if I were you, I won't be again

Four of us went for an evening meal and on the whole the experience was very good. The staff are excellent - very friendly and efficient and the decor is cosy and inviting. The food was mainly very good with a couple of exceptions. The two men in our party had the burgers which were excellent and came with onion rings, bbq sauce, salad and fries. They were home made, good size and not at all fatty. My friend and I had lamb casserole. The flavour was excellent and the gravy good and thick the only problem was that a number of pieces of the lamb were quite tough and my friend in particular had to leave quite some of the meat. The casserole came with carrots and red cabbage which were great but the broccoli also served looked quite yellowish and did not appear to be as fresh as it should be. I would definitely go back as overall the quality of the meals, the pricing and the ambience made it an enjoyable evening.

Very good food and beer. Decor was warm and welcoming. Staff were very pleasant. We both had the pork medallions as other choices were off the menu sadly. But there was nothing wrong with what we had. Very good standard for pub food.

Superb food served by very friendly staff in a lovely relaxing atmosphere at very reasonable prices.We visited as a party of four and didnt have a single thing we could have noted as a downside. Everything is home made and the combinations of flavours are great.Truly worth a visit and we will definitely return

I hadn't visited the Olde Kings Head for years and was pleasantly surprised at the refurbishment, decor and friendly atmosphere. We were a group of around a dozen and had reserved a table on a Friday evening. We were provided with our own space just off the main dining area. There was plenty to choose from the menu. The starters went down well and the mains were generously portioned. I sampled a tasty veggie burger which came with a huge portion of fries and salad. The sea bass was also popular as was the lasagne and steak. All the dishes were reasonably priced too. Luckily we arrived fairly early in the evening and found somewhere to park but, with a small area for car parking beside the pub, later comers would have to find spaces alongside a fairly narrow road with restricted parking. This was the only potential downside to this rediscovered pub experience. I would like to try again for lunch mid week when maybe it is easier to park.

Went for a meal with my friend on a Monday and had the pie and pint deal for £10. I had the steak and ale and my friend the pepperd pork they were superb and all the staff were incredibly friendly! Definitely coming again.

I visited with a few girlfriends last Saturday and had a lovely meal, excellent value for money and we were served by friendly staff nothing was to much trouble and we had an added bonus of live music during the evening which made it even better. We will all be returning soon.

I came with a friend for her birthday and had a 3 course meal and it was lovely nothing wrong with it whatsoever! Staff were absolutely superb!

Visited today for lunch with family, and really can't fault the service at all! We were a fairly large group (8+ baby) and often prone to our own little tweaks (I.e. Gravy on the side etc). Despite the fact that it can probably be a little irritating, we were served with a smile and the waitress was very accommodating. The food was delicious, the roast lamb in particular was superb! Having visited previously just couldn't miss off a pudding, which was again sublime! Recommend wholeheartedly and will certainly visit again.

Took a friend in for dinner over the New Year, the food was luke warm and curry obviously out of a jar, service without a smile, had no desire to stay for pudding. Disappointing as had high hopes for the new ownership.

Popped in because we heard it served lovely food. The beef roast was lovely, great gravy, veg and all the trimmings. We will be visiting again.

The pub looks great after the refurbishment and the open fire always welcome. A lot of great potential.However, surprised it took over 45minutes for lunch to arrive and then the wrong order arrived. The pub was very quiet. The medley of veg all over cooked and bland, home cooked chips dripping in fat and soggy The way the manager handled the error was far from professional and disappointed by the lack of customer service and going the extra mile

What a great pub. Out with friends for a nice Friday evening meal. Long time time since we last visited , but what a difference , nice refurbishment ,great food and happy and friendly staff. We took advantage of their Friday night special of two fish and chip meals plus a bottle of red for twenty pounds. We will be back--- very soon

sunday lunch really nice but the plates were awful long narrow ones that you could not move your food around on. give me a old fashioned round plate anyday the food was good though

Great quiz night with a lovely friendly atmosphere, the food was outstanding highly recommend the Sirlion steak and chips plus my partner had a homade pie and chips which was heaven ! A real must and excellent service. Will be coming back for another quiz night for local charity's and of course for the food!

This is the second time I have eaten here this year on my visits to Macclesfield, the first time in August with a group of eight, which was really good it was a lunch time. The second time was an evening with eleven people was not very good at all! Perhaps they chNged the cook.very pleasant staff but not very efficient, a good evening with friends and family despite the poor meal.

Had a nice 'light-bite' at the olde kings head today, I go along usually for the beer, it's well kept and boasts a recent refurbishment.

We called in for dinner while travelling on the adjacent canal. We understand it has just been revamped. We were very pleased to have very high quality cuisine at very reasonable prices.We have no hesitation in recommending it.

If you were used to going with your dog, don't bother as they don't take dogs anymore. Surprising as it's a rural doggy area. The sutton gamekeeper nearby however is excellent and does take dogs.

The Kings Head is always a friendly and cosy place to go and as its just re-opened my partner and I tried the food. It was tasty and good value. Try the pies!

My sister and I went for a lunch time snack here today. The pub has just been refurbished and run by a new licensee called Karen with her family. Lovely people. What a fabulous place it is now and the food, well, its as good if not better than some top restaurants I have visited!! We had a pannini with peppers, mushrooms and stilton. Yummy! Comes with side salad,(dressed) and fries. Definitely a place to visit for either a drink or a meal. Reasonable prices too!!
