We were there on a cold November day max 5c outside temperature They usually have real inviting log fires but not today. In fact we thought there was no heating on at all. We came for lunch looking at the posative reviews on TA & elsewhere, how wrong can you be. The place was reasonably busy for 1pm on a Friday lunch time. The manager was less than inviting & gave the impression he could'nt care less. As they have a two course lunch on for £7 which as it turned out was a poor decision as i ordered the Tomato & Mozzarella salad which i quite enjoyed all be it basic eg three slices of tomato & Mozzarella Cheese on a tiny plate no dressing no finesse. For main i choose the Liver, Onions, Chips & peas. There was three tiny pieces of liver in all but no taste swamped in thin grave the chips were cash & carry's own cheapest in the world ever, The cheapest frozen peas covered 75% of the plate. It was so cold in there we didn't remove my winter coat. You would think if you arn't doing much business over lunch times to warrent putting on a two course lunch for £7 which is cheap by anybody's standards you would have thought you might actually give something to talk about & return to. Won't be rushing back any time soon & i strongly suggest you follow suite. Pitty realy could have been better by just lighting a fire & putting on some heating. Bad management dession Tut Tut. doesn't make a lot of sence to me. Other reason's not to bother: Once you have looked at the rest of the lunch menu you realise the management is just having a big laugh at your expense eg Home made Beef Burger £9.95 for a Burger? That's just plain ridiculous rip off. Tip. There are many other places for lunch within a few minutes from this place, next time we will go some other place thats for sure. Also the toilets could have dune with a clean & a lick of paint, even the door from the main bar to the tiolets was old & tired. All in all a poor excuse for a coutry pub.

This is a nice local pub in the old style, with good beer and friendly staff. There were dogs around but they were quiet and well-behaved. The pub's menu is very good in its concept, although the execution is variable. My partner's veggie option was fine, but my sea bass had been browned on both sides, the food was greasy with the plate swimming with cooking oil.

Upon arrival, the pub wasn’t too busy on a Tuesday evening, but soon started to fill up with locals. Very nice barman served me a glass of Pinot blush, and brought a bowl of water over for our dog. Ordered scampi and chips twice, which was piping hot and lots of it. After reading numerous reviews of restaurants and eating establishments in the Macclesfield area we found rave reviews regards the Poachers Inn. Not only were the reviews positive re atmosphere, value for money but what sold it was the Wednesday night PIE night. In anticipation of a busy night, as per reviews we booked in advance, the inn opens at 5.30 and we booked a table for 7.30.Upon arriving we were informed that they they were all sold out of pies! My wife and I ordered alternative meals, scampi and beef hot pot, both nice although basic. Visited this pub a few times now but two frlidays ago was our best experience, my partner and i love the early doors here but if u want food, getting a table can be somewhat a pain, i suppose this is good really as a atmosphere generator but still a pain if u want to eat, however there seems to be a lull in customers between early doors and the evening crowd, the menu is varied but its not trying to be clever, i had the chicken bacon and stilton salad, ( yes im on a diet, sigh !! ) that was lovely ( less cucumber please ) and my partner had goulash which she said was absolutely gorgeous, i think thats a thumbs up, staff were great and the drinks and beer selection was spot on. All in all a great visit for less than 30 quid, well done guys and another visit is definitely on the cards SOON ! Maybe the cock and pheasant should pay a visit and bring a notepad !!!

Nice atmosphere, good service but the food was at best average and over priced. The Ancient grain main courses cost over £20 each, there was very little meat and even less taste. Disappointing food a
