Great location, great service and great food. Fantastic staff and a great choice of drinks. Would highly recommend to all

Went with friends for Sunday lunch which was very very good. Also had their cheese garlic bread which was amazing. It is dog friendly and in a nice area - not shoved in a back room like many pubs. When booking they asked if it was an occasion and it was a friends birthday - they made it special. Good value. What MUST be commented on is the staff. Everyone we dealt with was lovely - friendly, polite and efficient, but special shout out to Merit who was our main server - she is delightful. The management should be proud of their staff. Will definitely return.

Absolutely lovely atmosphere in the pub, food was lovely and the excellent service from Will and his team was outstanding, hadn't been to the pub for years but will definitely be returning.

Stopped in for some lunch, was on motorbike so had to have a table with space for all my gear. Will was fantastic, found a lovely table by the window. I had gammon and chips, the eggs were perfect the chips were fresh and the gammon was melt in the mouth 👌🏼

We had our wedding meal here, couldn't fault the evening, we were very well looked after by Will and his team 😃

Against my better judgment we went to The Devonport Arms last night with friends, who had booked. The food was excellent and service was good, except for the fact we were called guys all the time. The duty manager was very polite etc but his clothes were absolutely filthy. You could tell that they hadn’t been washed for months. The table was a little sticky and cutlery hadn’t been polished so looked unclean. My chair was covered in crumbs and the fabric worn and stained. Needless to say we won’t be back again anytime soon.

Stopped in for lunch and was super impressed with this pub restaurant. The food was very high quality, whilst quite reasonably priced. My schnitzel was exceptional. Very nicely decorated restaurant with very helpful and friendly service. Looking forward to returning already.

Very polite staff, and in one area, they allow dogs in. Food was mixed mine I really enjoyed husband had the Sunday dinner only one roast potatoe, and Yorkshire pudding rather greasy but plenty of the rest.

We were a party of 16 and had preordered our food. We had to wait a while, but the meal was very nice.

Booked for a table of 8 for my son’s birthday and what an amazing experience the food was perfect, thé service from all the staff was outstanding they couldn’t do enough for us. I will definitely be going again in the near future. Thank you for a wonderful evening

Very disappointed as we had been recommended by a couple of people. All our starters were VERY salty, even to people who always add salt to their food! On the whole mains were okay, nothing special. Dessert - no vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream had obviously been refrozen as it was chocolate ice, crumble was the best! Waitress was lovely, service good. Such a shame! ☹️

First time visit to this pub with friends for a Sunday lunch. The pub itself is very nice inside & the staff were friendly & helpful. They have a very varied menu with plenty of choices & also do a lovely Sunday dinner. The beef slices could have been thicker but still very nice. My husband had a burger which was tasty but the onion rings he ordered were greasy & not as crispy as they should be. Our order was not put onto the system so we were sat their waiting for about an hour, only to be told of the error. Once the food arrived it was lovely & we were all given a free drink. We returned to this pub in April for my husband's birthday to give it another try as it is really nice inside with pleasant staff. I don't normally like to give bad reviews unless the service is really bad but this second visit was truly awful. We'd booked for 6pm & already there was no soup left & a sauce missing from another starter, it might seem trivial but the other starters didn't appeal to me. I chose the Sunday dinner & my husband chose a burger. My meal was good apart from them putting gravy over the Yorkshire pudding which made it soggy, however the burger was at best luke warm & the cheese hadn't been melted so he asked the waiter to heat it up. I finished my meal whilst waiting only to discover the waiter hadn't requested another burger.... The manager came over & apologised for the sloppy service & didn't charge us for anything which was decent of him but it completely ruined our special evening. It is a great pub but they seem to take more bookings than they can cope with, which causes really bad service & waiting times, there was a table to the side of us who waited even longer before they got their meals. I'm afraid I won't be returning to this pub again, twice is enough for the poor service.

Ordered a schnitzel, that really wasn’t what you’d expect. Not flat, thin and wide but thick and round. Well flavoured and presented but very tough and contained gristle. Half was inedible. Not charged for it but still very poor. Friendly by inattentive service.

The first time my husband and I have visited was for lunch on a Sunday. We liked that the menu was still being served as we didn't want Sunday lunch/roast. We ordered the burger, upgraded truffle chips, onion rings and peppercorn sauce. The food was served quickly and it was really tasty. The staff were friendly. The decor and atmosphere was really chilled and nice. We will definitely be returning.

Surroundings, atmosphere and staff service outshine the menu.. I'd recommend the steak sandwich for lunch,.. though quality doesn't quite live up to the price.. fish & chips, sausage n mash and burger me'h A nice IPA on tap makes for good distraction for the taste buds. Could be better

After our first visit in October we returned to this fabulous place to celebrate Mum's 80th. Our party of 11 were served gorgeous food and drinks by the lovely staff who couldn't do enough for us. We were made to feel so welcome and cannot thankyou the Davenport Arms enough for making it a very special afternoon for Mum. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing place and great food, had to keep walking up to the bar to order drinks as waiters weren’t at hand enough, place was half busy at time otherwise 5/5. Would still recommend if your not bothered about getting up to get drinks.

A lovely evening in the Davenport Arms tonight. Manager Will and fellow colleague Harvey were top notch. Service was great, really friendly and chatty. Food was amazing, had 3 starters and 3 mains and all was cooked perfectly in a super cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely worth a visit. Well done Will on your hiring skills 👏 👏

Lunch time visit 3 people not the cheapest and definitely not the best . the chairs at our table were dirty and ripped very tatty we had to send back dirty cutlery and both the toilets in the gents are leaking into bowls but the food was ok management need to up there game I think

One of many great pubs in the area, I particularly value the vegetarian options at The Davenport Arms. The only consideration is that it's a very expensive place to eat out at.

Absolutely dreadful with atrocious service, only 2 poor young lads left alone. It took 35 minutes for our order to be taken then the food that eventually came was really poor especially considering the high prices. I feel sorry for the staff as it’s not their fault they worked hard but couldn’t cope. An example of the awful food can be seen in this photo of the so called chunky chips and the ketchup’ that was just orange water. The vegetable soup was just green water that seemed like it had just had a stock cube in it. Since it’s been taken over it has been ruined which is a shame as the place itself is really nice inside.

An absolutely wonderful gastronomical experience at the Davenport Arms. The food was delicious, the atmosphere very chilled and the service from our waiter Harvey was superb. This is definitely one we will be visiting again very soon!

Visited for the first time after a friend's recommendation. The food was amazing, especially the salt and pepper calamari which was the best calamari I have ever tasted. Service was efficient and everyone in the team was really friendly, especially Harvey. Will definitely be back!

Our oven broke just before Christmas so managed to sneak a spot at the Davenport for a Christmas eve Sunday roast. Super tasty meal and great staff and atmosphere. Try the fancy scotch eggs... Bliss!!

Very nice resaurant with comfortable feeling inside. A nice range of food, and the recommended coctails sound amazing. Friendly staff, and was not felt rushed at any point. Families were dining, small groups, or couples also, so that shows its welcoming for everyone.

Impromptu lunch with my wife and our two dogs. Lovely traditional welcoming country stylish pub atmosphere. Restaurant class menu with 5* food and presentation when served, even snacks for the canine guests! Friendly, happy and engaging service throughout our visit…..our waitress Caitlin was fabulous. Great experience for a joint 60th/70th birthday celebration. Staff were efficient and friendly and the food was delicious. We all opted for the Sunday lunch option and we weren’t disappointed. Nice touch, was the personalised birthday card from The Davenport’s team.

We (4 of us and 4 dogs) were there for lunch today. The menu was interesting and varied and we all enjoyed a very good meal. We had a comfortable table with plenty of space and were well looked after by Ellie and Dom. The whole pub seems to have been recently refurbished to a high standard. Although in a rural location it is easily accessible from the surrounding towns and villages and well worth a special trip. We hope to return soon.

Went for Sunday lunch with my daughter and her partner had the started with the Ham croquettes and French onion soup we shared it between the 3 of us followed by the roast beef,gammon and chicken excellent food and service can highly recommend

A quick drink on the way home. Pleasant attentive friendly bar staff, one cask available which was on good form and my wife rated the keg lager, Amstel I think. We'll definitely visit again and try a meal. Great crisps by the way!👍🏻

Lovely Sunday dinner, Daisy was absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough!

Took an age for our starters to turn up, a good hour and the portion's were not reflected in the cost. Had the Sunday roasts if that's what you can call it. 2 small roasts, 2 Chantelle carrots, spoonful of mash, a watery spoonful of cauliflower cheese. A large Yorkshire pudding was the saviour with 2 average slices of meat. All very tasty but disappointed overall.

Lovely pub and food as well as service

The roast beef was so tender and delicious. Could have done with more veg, just one carrot and one small piece of broccoli seemed a bit mean. Very tasty though. Would go again!

We agree with other diners about the portion size. Have been coming here for quite a while. Had the beef brisket many times. All portions today was smaller also sauce used to be nice with bacon, onions and mushrooms. Today was just normal Sunday lunch gravy with just 3 baby onions in. NOT GOING BACK.

I was part of a party of 11 people, the presentation was a bit sloppy to be honest, some of dishes garnished some not,( same dish to different people) , Desserts, some had a scoop of ice cream an some had what could be described as a pinch of ice cream, the restaurant was not really that busy, so there was no rushed element involved. The food tasted good but the continuity was not there, I have been to the restaurant a few times and have always enjoyed it, this was y we decided to have a family meal there,

The beef roast was the best roast I've had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was also spot on!

Lovely sunday lunch served here couldnt fault all staff very friendly and attentive , homemade minted pea soup was so nice , roast chicken also very nice and followed by a scrummy cheesecake and mango sorbet delish !! Only criticism we would have like a bit more vegetables on the plate , but would definitely reccomend.

Quality of food is lovely however the portion sizes are a bit inconsistent. I had fish and chips, which was a decent sized portion and came with all the trimmings you would expect with fish and chips, however my partner had beef brisket which was literally just a dollop of mash, with beef on top, a couple of tiny carrots and a few button mushrooms. It definitely needed more veg than that and my partner was left hungry at the end of the meal. My niece had an issue with her meal which was quickly rectified. I can't fault the staff, they are all so lovely and attentive, I just think the portion sizes could be better. Overall I would recommend The Davenport.

Visited for Sunday lunch, there were clearly issues, however the customer service provided by Lucy and Josh was excellent, which turned what could have been a disastrous meal into a pleasant experience

Have passed this place loads of times so this was my first time. It was not disappointing the staff the food and the beer just brilliant. I recommend this place its so cool. The staff are just really nice. You have definitely got something special here.

Amazing service - cannot fault the team! The venue was lovely too, with a quirky charm in a traditional setting. The food, although reasonably priced at £20 for two courses, was sadly a little underwhelming. The starter of spicy parsnip soup was delicious, however, we were disappointed to get no whipped butter as promised on the menu. The main - a vegetarian Sunday lunch for me and gammon for my partner - was okay with the cauliflower cheese taking top spot. The roast potatoes were the biggest let down as they definitely weren’t fresh - they had that microwaved dry texture. There was also no extra gravy which didn’t help! Overall, I would go back to try what else the food and drink menu has to offer, and would definitely go back for the service and surroundings. I for sure want to try the beer garden over Summer!

First time here, a midweek lunch with a friend. Pleasant environment, everything nice and clean including the restrooms. Plenty of choice on the menu, substantial portions and beautifully cooked. Staff were all pleasant and friendly and the service was prompt.

I preferred the pub grub at the Davenport Arms before Pesto came in but the food is nice and the place is the same layout.

We phone up last minute & booked a table for that evening. On arrival we were advised that the pub had changed hands & was now an Italian Tapas style menu which had I known in advance, would not have chosen as I have an allergy to cheese & always struggle with Italian restaurants. Our drinks arrived, mine being non alcoholic was served with a straw - it was only when I was part way through my drink and the condensation had cleared that I discovered that the glass had lipstick on it. I pointed this out to the waitress who, although was v. apologetic, did not offer to get me a replacement drink, nor was anything subsequently knocked off the bill for that matter. The food arrived, which was rack of ribs, chicken wings, mushrooms, potatoes & chargrilled veg. We had to ask for serving spoons & when I asked for a knife for the ribs, it was politely but bluntly pointed out to me that 'they were very tender'. this I felt was inappropriate, the serving staff are there to help - having spent time in my youth working for my family's catering company, I speak from considerable experience and know how to courteously behave towards customers. This was a prime example of how NOT to do just that. Later that evening, I felt queasy,(though not the usual adverse reaction I normally suffer when accidentally eating cheese) and although I was assured by the waitress that everything we ordered did not contain cheese I cannot shake the suspicion that some part of my food had been in contact with cheese, however accidentally it may have happened. Needless to say I would not visit this establishment again, nor would I recommend it to anyone I consider to be a friend.

Hoy el 19 de junio de 2017 nos encontramos conduciendo definitivo sea aprobado en el almuerzo, y por la sensación de hambre, así como bastante decidimos llamar en algún lugar para comer algo. No decidimos, o cualquier particular en nuestro corazón, así que ¿qué será será. Conduciendo a lo largo de la A34 nos encontramos con un pub/restaurante llamado los brazos Davenport, y resultó que era nuestro Salvador, resultó ser un gran lugar para una comida. La comida es excelente y el servicio muy bueno. Si alguna vez te encuentras en la zona de caída y luego disfrutar de la comida, sin duda no me arrepiento de la experiencia.

I'm a huge fan of Pesto, and was delighted to hear of this restaurant opening near by. Food was excellent. Ordered a good selection of dishes and we shared them all. We all left feeling incredibly stuffed and planning our next visit!

Opening night last night, very nicely and tastefully refurbished. Not a quintessential country pub anymore as its serving Italian food....but it feels like one! Warm, cosy and comfortable. The food we chose was delicious and the staff....some the same as before were all very welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

Falta el Davenport ya cerrado, hemos tenido algunas noches allí, fantástico crazy bromas con todo el personal, especialmente rápido sentido ron's de presiente humor. Siempre nos saludaron con una sonrisa de bienvenida de todo el personal, que es lo que hizo este lugar muy adictivo, tenemos dinned en una gran variedad de sitios, pero en el Davenport nunca he tenido una mala comida o mal servicio, Sara es muy apasionado de la comida recién preparada y los chicos en la cocina gestionado con éxito prestar cada vez. We we're recommended this place by a number of our friends and family members, what we experienced was appalling. We ordered a Sunday Roast each which was advertised as 'Top Side Beef, Roast Potatoes, Big Yorkshire Pudding & Veg', however, what appeared on our plate was 3 roast potatoes and 2 slices of beef. I asked a member of staff if the meal was supposed to have a yorkshire pudding, the response I got was 'Yes, but we have now ran out as we're closing'. If we had been informed of this before hand we would never have ordered a Roast Dinner, however, what was far more insulting was the fact that I had to make the enquiry myself as to where the rest of the food was. We ate what little food we were provided and asked for the bill, the waitress provided the bill with no discount taking into account the lack of food provided, instead they charged us full price despite not serving us the full dinner. Terrible service, would not recommend.

Un grupo de nosotros ir a El Davenport una vez al mes por noche curry Martes y han hecho durante 10 años, quizás más, pero nos dieron la noticia de que la muy triste pub está cerrando muy pronto y serán un nuevo dueño. Siempre hemos disfrutado de nuestra estancia, pero no sólo para curry generalmente cuando hemos tenido una comida allí. Ron y Sara han sido excelentes anfitriones, siempre daba tiempo a hablar con usted y con el paso de los años, el personal maravilloso y demasiado, con sonrisas cuando entra en el edificio. Será un acto muy difícil de seguir, y no sólo a nuestro grupo, pero cada cliente que tiene saber Ron, Sara, el personal y los animales a lo largo de los años le deseamos a ellos. Usted puede perder

He estado yendo a la Davenport durante años con la familia y amigos. La comida siempre ha sido excelente. El personal y los propietarios se han convertido en amigos. Siempre nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos, ya sea para una comida o una bebida. Es un país fabuloso pub local y tenemos grandes recuerdos de nuestras noches mensuales curry, Navidad y comidas de cumpleaños. Los asados del domingo son para morirse! ! Extrañaremos las hospitalidad de ron y Sarah, junto con su gran personal que siempre nos cuidó muy bien. Buena suerte a todos para el futuro. Me encanta el curry gang que estaban allí esta noche (01. 11. 16)

We've been to the Davenport Arms to eat a number of times and have never been disappointed .We had a lovely meal last night and all four of us enjoyed the food it was absolutely wonderful. It's a lovely country pub with a great atmosphere and staff are very welcoming.

Evening meal here. Party of 12, greeted nicely upon arrival. Menu has a great choice. As soon as you walk in you can smell home cooked food. Well priced and not one of our table complained at a single thing. Will definitely be coming here again. Well done the davenport arms for nailing it on the head!!
