Been here man times as I drink both the Pale ale and the Slumbering Monk. Really busy evening so sat out at the back with the heaters. Service always good, known to my other half. This is one of the two best pubs in Alsager IMHO, the Lodge being the other.

Great pub, love the beer garden, great use of space. The beer has always been spot on in The Mere Inn. The fact that they have stopped serving food here has not detracted from it's appeal.

Great atmosphere friendly bar staff

First class public house in Alsager. Unfortunately still no food served but they allow you to bring in your own. Yesterday free sausage rolls on the bar with an acoustic singer who was very good. Excellent service and beer.

First visit and will definitely be back, friendly staff, lovely ambiance and super outdoor area at the back (more than a beer garden, it’s a real gem)

Lovely traditional pub with good selection of drinks on offer. Always enjoy this pub my only criticism is it's become very expensive compared to local competition.

Quaint pub with character. Old fireplaces and stone interior. Joules ale and pilsner.

Updated pub with a wide range of drinks with some great tap ales. Tries a little too hard on occasion but staff generally friendly and our 'off' beer was swapped without hesitation.

The Mere has been our local pub for several years now and honestly I have no complaints whatsoever. They have a good selection of quality draught beers and the food is fantastic. The staff are friendly, the service good and the ownership has handled the pandemic exceptionally well keeping the pub comfortable and safe throughout. Overall a great atmosphere and good quality British pub, I hope to return for many a pint to come.

The Mere inn is a pub. Remember them? Lot’s of places are trying to reinvent the wheel after lockdown (or charge a fortune). This is a friendly place with decent human staff, haven’t had food there recently just been in for drinks.

Had the pleasure of visiting during august. The food was excellent and the service was spot on. Been numerous times before but it’s always a quality visit for food or just for a quick drink. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Went here recently as we were visiting the area. It is a locals pub in a small town with friendly staff and really good quality food. I would definitely recommend a visit. I sincerely hope it is still in business when the pubs and restaurants etc are allowed to reopen.

Good food, good staff, clean, good atmosphere

My hubby and I were staying in the area over night and decided to eat here. We’ve been here before to sample a few real ales, and very very good they are too. The staff are friendly and very helpful and efficient too. We definitely recommend the food, it tasted delicious and of excellent quality too. We definitely recommend here. We would also recommend pre-booking a table to avoid disappointment too!

Having lived in Alsager for 20 years plus and never frequented The Mere Inn., my sister wanted to go there for a meal. What a fantastic pub! The food was excellent service was very good. The area was clean. My food was just amazing cooked to perfection in fact all of my family couldn’t say enough about the place, value you for money will defiantly return.

The Mere Inn is an absolute gem. It combines excellent food with first-class service, in lovely surroundings. The Sunday roast was sublime and the service attentive and thoughtful. We felt really looked after and the whole visit felt like a treat. The management of the pub is really impressive: the menu is the right mix of traditional and innovative, the kitchen clearly well run, and the staff well trained. Booking advisable - this little gem is going places!

We have been to The Mere on several occasions with family and friends and we will certainly be going back. The food is great with a wide selection and the staff are very attentive and helpful without being pushy and gushing. Well done.

The outside of this little gem is misleading as once you go in it is deceptively large and has the real pub charm,welcoming,good beer and the food which is why we went was superb we will definitely be back its on our map now.

Outstanding. Family lunch on a cold and wet Sunday afternoon. The service throughout the afternoon was excellent. The starters, main meal and desert was top quality and very tasty.

I visited with friends having not been for quite some time. The food was decent and it's a pleasant enough pub although there's something that doesn't quite work for me in the feel of the place.For me, Joules beer is the worst beer I've tasted and I've visited the brewery and thought it was awful there, so it's not the landlord's fault! I've tried a variery of their beers and their Green Monkey lager and a number I haven't even been able to finish. On this visit, I decided to keep it safe with Staropramen which is a lager I've always enjoyed but even that was poor - not particulalry cool and just didn't taste fresh like it normally does.Also the Wifi barely works.I might pop back at some stage if I'm driving but for beer, it's the worst pub around until the next Joules pub.

Great food, ambience and service

Over the last few weeks we have popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. The service was very welcoming and genuine. The food very good, burgers, fish pie and roast beef. All well cooked and generous portions. I did ask for no burger sauce and sadly I appeared to get extra, there was obviously a miscommunication. I ate my meal without complaint, it would just have been slightly nicer without sauce, just personal preference. All in all, good food, service and surroundings.

We called into the Mere for our evening meal while staying at the local Travelodge,so glad we did.When we went in we got a lovely welcome from the bar staff and we ordered drinks and were shown to a table by a very polite girl who left us to look through the menu.She took our order and returned a few minutes later with my starter,probably one of the best starters I've ever had.I wasn't sure about the fish taco but it was perfectly cooked,it looked and tasted amazing very well done.My wife and I had steak burger which was very tasty and the fat chips were lovely too.My mother in law had what I presume is a local special in a cheese pie which she said was very good,we had two rounds of drinks too.Service, food and atmosphere were great

Really lovely "proper" pub! A wide range of gins and rums were on offer...pity I was driving! Real ale and good food. Crowd on a Friday were a bit noisy/shouty. The guys behind the bar were great, the girls could be more friendly! A good evening! Thanks The Mere!

Nice pub excellent service and staff

Not been before so, we had a party of 9, phone booked, on the day the table was set, but I noticed a round table that would suit better, had I known I would have booked it. The staff moved us to the round table. The service the food and the surroundings were perfect. 10/10 Right now for the bad bits, there were none. So we will be back, we all said that everything was great and a huge thank you to the staff. But I don't want you to go cos we want it all to our selves,

Fantastic homemade food and good friendly atmosphere, good selection of drinks at reasonable prices aswell. Gets very busy here at the weekends and if you are planning to eat might be better off booking a table to ensure you aren't disappointed

Bad beer no atmosphere no kitchen staff for bar snacks but menus out ..friendly welcome from the bar staff but the pub was empty at 5pm . Slumbering Monk my usual joules tipple was on a point of going off & the pork pie was an Iceland frozen disaster not homemade as described ... both beer & pie left ... sorry won't be visiting again

I had a business meeting here in the daytime.recently. They have a super little room with around table that seats up to 9 or 10 at a squeeze. The room can be part of the main pub or the doors can be closed for privacy.

Nice joules pub good choice of beers . Went gin festival. Was very good with gin bar outside. Nice vibe. Should try it
