What a great 2 night stay we had. Set in a wooded area with great views. The rooms are clean and certainly adequate. Paul the host is remarkable. He is so friendly and couldn't do enough for my partner and I top service throughout our stay. Fantastic

My wife and I stayed at this place for one night via a groupon voucher purchased for our anniversary. Our experience was the worst we have ever had when staying at a hotel. The accommodation is not clean and is extremely run down. The whole place needs a refurb. The food is terrible - they have the audacity of calling it a “taster menu”. Despite my wife making it clear when she booked our stay that she was veggie (and calling to remind them of this prior to our stay) surprise surprise they had forgotten about this too…. the response of the kitchen staff to their error was very disappointing. The person who checked us out was perhaps the rudest man we’ve ever met. He tried to charge us for a “complimentary” bottle of Prosecco that was placed in our room with a note to say “happy anniversary”. He then charged us a £20 admin fee because he claimed our groupon voucher did not cover a Friday or Saturday night stay… this was totally false. The windows in the rooms are rotten and the heating system is totally inadequate. I do not believe the en-suite bathroom in our room was safe either with exposed electric cables and an extractor fan that sounded like it was about to explode. Having raised the issues with the hotel via email, all correspondence has simply been ignored. DO NOT STAY HERE

We stayed here for one night and the issues started as soon as we arrived. Firstly after travelling over 3 hrs to be told you can only order drinks until 9.30 as we’re closed. To then go to our room and no electricity so unable to make ourselves a drink plus no water supplied with no way of reporting it as no night porter or mobile phone due to not being able to charge the same then to be told in the morning if the electric trips again there’s nothing they can do!! Now for breakfast, cold toast, teaspoon of beans and an overcooked poached egg (hard boiled). This hotel is certainly not value for money

I rarely submit reviews but we have just returned home after a fantastic 2 night stay. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced - I can't remember having better. Drinks were also reasonably priced and the bar was very cosy with comfortable sofas. We were delighted to be able to take our dog at a small charge. I realize some guests are put off by dogs however there were no badly behaved dogs present, which is more than I can say for lots of bratty children and their parents at other places I've stayed at. The bedroom was small but clean and warm with a comfortable king sized bed and a small but perfectly adequate ensuite shower room. It was very well stocked with biscuits and range of refreshments. There was a very pleasant garden area with plenty of seating available. The Coach House is set in lovely grounds with plenty of free parking available.

Nice food in a warm environment very convenient to the lodges and the hotel nearby. However a short stroll into otterburn will get you much better. The food was nice… people serving absolutely lovely. It just didn’t have a wow factor for such a lovely building. Felt a bit soulless. Also all our food was brought out within 5 mins of ordering, so we were in and out in under an hour… it would’ve been nice to take our time. Having said that for a place so central to the lodges and the hotel it was perfectly nice… I just think a few touches would’ve made it it so much better!

This review is essentially a warning to potential visitors to The Coach House. If you don't mind sharing the dining room with dogs ,then you will probably appreciate this hotel. Whilst we were there two dogs decided they did not like the look of each other and caused a disturbance in the dining room. We will not be returning

The food was absolutely superb. Could not be faulted with good accompanying wines. The room was very small and the shower was minute. It was a little disappointing with a dreadful view over a yard and chalets which could have been improved by some pots of flowers and hedging for screening. Pity. Staff were super. This was a voucher deal with taster menu and B&B. Excellent value for money.

Just stayed for 2nights and it was a wonderful experience. Room was comfortable and very clean, lovely fluffy towels and nice toiletries. The dining experience is one not to miss. Fabulous original dishes cooked and presented beautifully. There is so much to do in the area and a lovely lady called Teighlor gave us lots of interesting information and suggestions as well as her attention at all times. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

The menu had a good variety of choices. I chose the Confit of Lamb Shoulder, exceptional flavour and melt in the mouth. This review would have been 5 star but my husbands Sea Bass was a little over cooked. Vegetables were very good, nicely al dente. The Staff however, last evening 3rd of July, were first class, warm, friendly and all about making diners welcome and totally happy to be in thier company.

We went on a voucher deal for dinner bed and breakfast which included a taster menu . This was one of the best taster menus I have ever had . The boutique room was lovely and comfortable if small but fine for an overnight stay The bathroom was definitely a challenge for space . It wouldn’t accomadate a person of size comfortably . The staff were very good and service excellent . It was very exceptional value for money Would definitely return .

On the positive side I can heartily agree with everyone who praises the quality of the dining room. The food was excellent. Reasonably priced and cooked with flair. The staff were also quite charming, with the perfect balance of friendliness and efficiency. The fly in the ointment, as far as we were concerned, was the room. Now reading other reviews I gather the rooms vary, so this comment refers only to Room 1. The room itself was spotlessly clean, and the bed was comfort itself, as well as being a proper sized double bed. But the room was too small! We had the feeling there had once been a dressing table/chest of drawers just by the door, but this was missing and a lone, ill-fitting chair occupied that spot. This meant that there were few places to put one's clothes, and nowhere for my wife to apply her make-up. But most ridiculous of all was the bathroom. I could literally (and I am not Mr Tickle!) touch the walls with the palms of my hands both lengthways and widthways! Into this tiny space was crammed a wash basin, loo and tiny shower. No room for such luxuries as towels rails or shelves to put anything. As the building looks newly converted from being a 'coach house' I assume someone sat down with the architect and ok'd this? "Is that the bathroom?" "Yes, it's about the size of this table top..." "Oh that should be fine..." On dropping the soap in the shower I had to turn it off and open the door to be able to pick it up! How these big lads manage I don't know. Stand half in and half out and do a side at a time I suppose.... Anyway, the key question is would we stay again, and we would, but not in that room! Be warned the hotel is dog-friendly, and there were a lot of them!

what a lovely place, the coach house stands on the old Otterburn hall estate and has been beautifully restored and it stands in contrast to the atmospheric abandoned Old hall itself. we received a really friendly welcome on arrival. and the room which was presumably one of the servants when the old hall was in its prime was small but adequate was nice and bright with a nice comfy bed. I am pleased to say everything was spotlessly clean and lots of covid precautions were in place although they certainly did not mar the atmosphere around the hotel. The bar and dining room was nicely decorated with a bright airy feel and the coach house also has an outside area for when the weather is nice. The staff could not have been more attentive during our stay. we arrived on a Sunday and the evening meal we opted for included a roast lamb dinner with yorkshires and all the trimmings which was anything but ordinary it was outstanding. free car parking, tea coffee, etc in the room with nice soap conditioner ect. and a very decent hairdryer all finished the next morning with a fabulous breakfast with some imaginative items on the menu you can tell the owners are proud of this hotel and it really shows

Spent a few nights here with my wife and would highly recommend staying here if you want to head off and spend a few days walking. (We’d recommend Kielder Water for an hour, afternoon or full on 9 hour trail walk) This hotel was immaculately clean and the food fab! (Don’t bother pricing up other local hotels and pubs, we checked, The Coach House is cheaper and soooo delicious) 2 courses are £18, 3 courses £23 (try the sticky toffee pudding!!) Although we grabbed a ‘groupon’ deal we were looked after so well. Amy, Sabrina and Tracy waited the tables, looked after the reception and sorted out just about everything else. These girls are a real asset to the place.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our short break at the Coach House. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfy. The food was excellent. The 5 course taster menu was absolutely delicious, enhanced by the recommended wines. Pictured are my breakfast of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup, and evening course of rump of Northumberland lamb. We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed exploring the lovely grounds, during which we were thrilled to spot a red squirrel! All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We were staying and were lucky enough to have the 5 course tasting menu on our first night - what an absolute joy, even things we didn't think we liked were delicious. Special thanks to Paul for swapping out items on the menu due to my food intolerances, it was greatly appreciated. We ate there the second evening too because we just didn't think that anywhere else would come close to the excellent cooking at this venue. Both meals were fantastic, as were the breakfasts but the taster menu was quite simply the best meal we have ever eaten.

A return visit for us and Gemma remember us from two years ago! Food, service, atmosphere and bar all excellent. We had lovely garlic prawns to start and smoked chicken and mango salad. Our mains were lamb, cooked pink as I asked for and delicious, belly pork, chicken and the halloumi burger. All were very tasty and well presented. Little things like bread and water were provided without us having to ask or be charged extra for as some places do! Too full to try desserts! Service was great, felt relaxed and not rushed. Good NZ white wine, thanks for a great evening on our wedding anniversary, sure we'll be back soon!

Faultless from start to finish. From the initial welcome at check-in, to the standard of the room (dog room - one of the best we’ve ever had!). The restaurant and bar was very tastefully furnished and the food was more ‘fine-dining’ on the taster menu we had. It was a Groupon deal and we couldn’t believe it! We even got a free glass of Prosecco and nothing was too much trouble. Exceptionally well-run and in a fantastic location. Don’t be put off by fact it is a Groupon deal - they say it works for them when they are quieter and more people gives it a better vibe. I agree and they certainly appear to have a good business strategy. Excellent value for money and I would wholeheartedly recommend

We visited for Sunday Lunch on a recommendation from someone who’d been for dinner. Service was excellent, staff and owner couldn’t have been friendlier. Food was really good with generous portions and reasonable prices (14:95 for 2 courses, 19:95 for 3). Short menu with 5 choices for each course means that they get the food right instead of the restaurants you visit that offer loads of choices badly done. It’s also dog friendly which is always a bonus. For people staying in Otterburn they also offer a takeaway food service for collection.

What a delightful place, beautifully decorated with a light, warm and cosy feel. Both owners were friendly and chatty and made us feel very welcome. There was a large party in so we were guided to some comfy sofas for a relaxing pre dinner drink. The table had a lovely crisp white tablecloth and the seats very comfortable. My hubby had smoked pork belly with black pudding and I had cod and chips which was freshly cooked and lovely. Our lovely young waitress Maisie looked after us very well. We first tried The Coach House at the beginning of August. It was excellent. The menu was very varied and my wife who is a vegetarian was delighted to find three veggie starters and three mains. The service was excellent and the food was both perfectly cooked and well-presented. If I'd written this review then it would have had 5 stars. However, we returned about 4 weeks later and were quite disappointed. There were plenty of meat options for mains but only one vegetarian option (pea risotto). As my wife does not eat rice this was not helpful. We asked if the chef could make something else that was vegetarian but we told they had nothing - which I find very hard to believe - we could have suggested something from the vegetables on the menu - but we didn't go out for a meal to do that, so my wife settled for two starters. Every good restaurant(/chef) menu should have at least two veggie options for mains, at least one of which is not carbohydrate based (ie pasta or rice).
