Wow very pleased with this camper stop over. Owner was very welcoming. Savoured every mouthful of the stunning lamb shank and luxurious sticky toffee pudding. Cosy fire. Pool table. I’d go back just for the unique selection of ice creams. Small menu changes regularly, home cooked by the owner. Highly recommend.

We visited Carts Bog twice during our brief stay in Langley and it is an absolute gem of a place with the MOST delicious food!! We had chicken with haggis, belly pork and lemon posset on our first visit and the quality of the produce is evident. Everything is homemade and we even had the carts bog lager - again, absolutely lovely! The staff are friendly and helpful, and we were kindly loaned a torch for our walk home in the dark. The owner/chef (sorry, I don’t know if he’s one or both?) was super friendly and helpful and clearly passionate about food - we wished we could have stayed longer just to go though the menu! Whilst we didn’t have the famous bog pie, we watched enviously as many others had it delivered to their table! The piece de resistance however had to be the Sunday lunch. We had beef and chicken and everything was cooked to perfection - the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. The meat is out of this world and the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings homemade. Don’t even get me started on the gravy! The prices are super reasonable for such a high standard of food and service and I’m already missing the place!

Lovely pub. Our experience perhaps marred by the priority given to diners on oversized tables filling the pub so as a small coach party we were advised to drink outside. And we didn't really feel welcome, more as an annoying addition to the planned Sunday meals service. I'd advise more and smaller tables but I think the food service is probably keeping the pub afloat. So I understand .

We drove up from Yorkshire to spend the night some miles away from this pub but had heard how good the food was.I had booked a table and provided my email address too.Imagine our annoyance and disappointment when we arrived last Thursay 12th Sept to find a hand written note saying closed as no water! Was it too much to ask to be emailed about this closure? We had driven 20 miles to get there.Luckily a wonderful friendly pub in a village nearby provided good food and warmth as it was a cold evening.Shocking customer service.

The steak night on Thursday was the night we decided on, steak cooked to perfection, the soup being homemade was delicious, take good appetites as helpings are generous, then you come to the puddings , the triple chocolate brownie is rich and indulgent, a treat for chocolate lovers. Then there is the white chocolate cheesecake which is heaven on a plate, all are prepared at the inn by the owner. Thank you very much we will be back, I just don’t know when ( the blue rump man)😁

Booked for Sundsy lunch as a reward for spending the day selling at Hexham car boot fair in the cold! Heard it had changed hands but it is still a great place to eat. Everything was lovely. My only slight complaint would be that when booking, I asked about their famous Bog Pie (which I've had before and loved) and was told it wasn't served on Sundays....only to see the man on the next table to me being served it! You'd have got 5 out of 5 if that hadn't happened but we haven't ruled out coming on another day so My friend can try it for the first time.

Just turned up at 5:10 (says they open at 12 online) fire on, bar lights on, saw a gentleman behind the bar, but door locked. Called up to check as aware it was still early in the evening, and mentioned we were outside. Was told they're closed, when I said that it states they're open online, he went 'Whats wrong' (seriously?). When I reiterated the fact that they're open online, I was told he'd go find someone in the most begrudging way possible. We chose to leave as we clearly weren't wanted. I don't normally leave bad reviews but having visited here a few times with incorrect drinks orders and incorrect charges I think it should be flagged this is certainly not the place it used to be.

Ok let me explain. The chances are you are reading this to decide whether to visit the Carts Bog Inn this review will manage your expectations. Like us you will have viewed the online menu and decided on what to have prior to arrival. So my wife and I arrived for our pre booked table which is a must as it gets very busy. We were greeted by a young lady and the drinks order was taken and we sat at our allocated table. Drinks arrived followed by the menu which was basically a fraction of what they advertise online. For a start my wife was going to have the Bog Burger but this was not on the physical menu along with other items we had seen online. So my wife decided to have the only other thing she liked which was lasagna which to be honest you can get in most places so nothing special here. We then made our choices for starters and my main the Carts Bog Pie which along with their burger is a signature dish. We were then shown the specials board which was ok but nothing that we really wanted there. The young lady came to take the order so we asked for load potato skins to be told they didn’t have any only plain ones. Now this was only 6pm and they had run out of them? Surely any good chef would know if something is a popular dish to have enough to see each cover had the options which remember were already reduced. Ok so we took the plain ones. We then ordered mains and I asked for the Carts Bog Pie to be told that they didn’t know if there was enough filling to fulfill that order as they had just had an order for 9 pies? The young lady said she would have to wait to see if the chef had enough. Now to be honest by this point I was amazed that a chef who is producing signature dishes didn’t know if they would have enough to allow the order. Any chef worth their salt knows that if they prepare X weight of ingredients then you get Y amount of products, yes. Of course so! Because if you can’t workout that calculation how do you know the cost of each dish and what to charge. Even if they did know this equation then have a tally board in the kitchen to know how many pies you have made and how many you have left in the ingredients to make more. Or better still make enough to cover the entire day rather than creating potential disappointment for those visiting to have the “Famous Bog Pie”. So the starters came and were fine then I had confirmation that there was enough for my Bog Pie. But let’s remember there were still people arriving to dine here and the menu was limited and then some items were not available!!!! So the food was nice with good sized portions and the service was fine. Would I recommend here well the answer is simple in yes if you live near but if traveling any distance then no as the menu is limited and then it is luck if you can get what you want from it. So all in all good food with a Faulty Tower type delivery.

Delicious food in a nice old pub. The chicken supreme was great, my partner has the lamb which was also great. Well worth a trip

An absolute gem. The Red Lion is a beautiful place to stay, the food is excellent and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here to anyone, with the best hosts.

Just went in for lunch, not sure of accommodation services. Lovely choices on menu and food was delicious. Staff were understanding of a disability and attentive to adjustments if required. One chicken goujon sandwich, one posh fish finger sandwich and one Steak & Ale pie with mushy peas. All with hand cut chips. Fish fingers and chicken goujons were freshly battered and more than adequate portions. Delcious. Chips were best we have had for a long time. Heaps of beautofully braised steak in pie and the tastiest gravy! Can be accessed from front (main high street) or rear (through beer garden, outside of which there are multiple car parks). One of our party struggles with mobility and had a four wheel Walker. Both entrances have access ramps and although a few steps, there is a hand rail available and were manageable for her. Definitely recommend. Will be back.

Had a fab afternoon in the crown and the landlord was generous with his time.
