I visited the prince of wales many years ago , as I was in the area I popped in for a quick pint and something to eat, the pub hadn’t changed one bit , it still retains its old world charm. It is nestled in a little lane of the high street surrounded by similar 15th century buildings. In all a little gem and will return when in the area. If you like old historical buildings this place is a must

Food was ok, but when you set yourself up to do roasts (and have only one other Main dish on the menu), to run out of Roast Beef by 6pm on a bank holiday weekend is pretty poor. We’d booked especially for Easter and were left disappointed. Also, had a 15 min wait for clean cutlery, by which time the food we had ordered was cold.

Yet another fantastic, relaxing break in this dreamy hotel. The views from our room were out-of-this-world. So lovely to wake up to the sight and sound of the waves down on Mawgan Porth beach. The staff at Scarlet are exceptional in every way. They really can't do enough for you. Breakfasts are amazing and we loved the cocktails in the bar. We've stayed in the most expensive room once and we've stayed in the cheapest 'Just Right' rooms on a few occasions. All I can say is that they are equally great, just different sizes to be honest. We did the Taster Menu this time and, having tried these in many restaurants over the years, we didn't feel that this one lived up to our expectations. A shame, as we were really looking forward to it. Nonetheless, we will definitely be returning to The Scarlet as it's genuinely one of our favourite hotels anywhere in the world.

My three course meal could not have been better; split pea soup (diced vegetables in a thick liquid - a meal in itself) lamb balti curry (Birmingham, the home of Balti, should erect a statue of the chef) and finally creme brulee (both taste and temperature spot on). Portion size, service and ambiance perfect. All for £35.
