We have just visited Covean Cafe on St Agnes and it was fantastic! The cakes were freshly baked and the scones just out the oven, warm and delicious. The tea was Twinings served in tea cups (not massive coffee cups) and the surroundings very clean and nice. Furthermore, the prices were fair and reasonable. Having visited many tea rooms on the Islands, we can honestly say that this is our favourite. Well worth a visit but be warned it’s only open on Tuesday and Thursday so plan your trip around it!!

Rosie makes delicious home made scones - warm from the oven and a generous size too! It's great to have a choice of cream tea and savoury scones. They are really delicious - wish I could make as good scones. I had home made lemonade which is a million miles away from the sickly sweet stuff you get in a can. The garden is lovely and peaceful with lots of flowers and birds. There is also a conservatory for chillier or wetter days.

This café (which turns into an upmarket fish restaurant on a few evenings per week with a different owner) serves delicious soups, rolls, toasties etc. The soups are unusual (courgette, pea & mint for one!) and simply full of taste. On our last morning of our 2 week holiday, we nipped in for the egg & bacon roll with tea for 2, then after a few hours on the beach, came back for lovely mushroom soup. Can't fault it.

This is a lovely B & B in a super location . We stayed in a cute compact room called Wingletang with a beautiful sea view. Breakfast was good and it set us up for the day. This is taken in the conservatory which also has sea view. On Saturday Rosie makes pizzas (you have to order them Friday morning) and they are absolutely scrumptious so I would highly recommend that you don't miss out on those. Thank you Rosie for a most enjoyable stay

what a great find, we were walking around St Marys and came across some signs to a much needed tea garden. we were both very pleased with what we eventually found, a spacious garden with an indoor area should the weather let you down. the food was plentiful, great salads, sandwiches, pasties and more, they even had little tubs of troy town ice cream which is a must if you haven't tried it. we (and everyone else) spent our meal surrounded by a flock of very tame cute little scavengers, these birds would almost eat out of your hands and made the place even more appealing. not that i'd recommend walking away from your food or even taking your eyes off it for too long as they close in pretty fast!

After a disappointing cream tea elsewhere the day before we decided to visit Covean for a cream tea whilst on a day trip to St Agnes. As it is also a guest house I don't think it started serving until 2 or 2.30pm. This suited us fine as we had been walking round the island earlier in the day. We didn't pay a great deal of attention to the other items on the menu as we were intent on having a cream tea! We went round the rear of the building to order our food and only had a short wait until it arrived. The scones were nice and warm and we had plenty of jam and cream - it was a delicious cream tea, couldn't fault it and the waitress was very pleasant. Rather than tea to drink we opted to go for the home made lemonade (at an extra cost of approximately 10p) as it was a really hot day. This too was delicious so all in all well worth a visit. The setting is lovely in the front garden area (there is also indoor seating) and there were plenty of tables. Beware the local birdlife (as mentioned in previous reviews) as they are keen to get involved and will eat up any crumbs (or jam and cream) that are left. All in all well worth a visit.

My family and I visited Coven Cottage Cafe in late summer for lunch. I enjoyed a butternut and feta salad with some homemade lemonade (proper stuff!), and the team were more than ready to cater for my gluten-free cousin & auntie. As it was a clear day, we chose to sit on the picnic benches in the garden, but there is more than enough space within the lean-to/conservatory. The cafe is dog friendly; we certainly weren't the only ones with a four-legged friend! Overall, if you're on St Agnes I recommend a visit; friendly staff, sea views and great food... what more could you want?! PS. As with many outdoor eateries on Scilly, watch out for the rather tame sparrows - you only need to turn your back once and they'll be eyeing up your food!

We stopped here for a drink one morning having just arrived for the day. We enjoyed a coffee and ginger beer outside in the garden under one of the large umbrellas and were joined by some exceptionally tame sparrows who ate nuts out of my hand - love it! Having been thus charmed, we came back for lunch. For lunch, we ate inside because it was raining a bit and we were chilly. We ordered a simple egg mayonnaise roll and were so glad we did! The white roll was home made that day and was possibly the nicest white bread I have ever tasted. The egg mayo filling was a glorious rich yellow, made using local eggs. There was also a beautifully dressed salad to go with this. It was without a doubt the best egg mayo roll I have ever eaten in my life. What made this joyful lunch so much more fantastic was that (unusually for lunch in Scilly) it hadn't cost the earth, no more than £4.95 I think. Definitely go here if you can for lunch - the sparrows alone make it delightful but the delicious, simple, appropriately priced fare on offer really made it stand out as one of my favourite places to eat anywhere on the islands. Nice job Covean.

A great place to stop for a cup of tea, a home cooked lunch or cream tea/home made cake.Menu is quite limited, but everything is home cooked and tasty, with my particular favourite being the creamy mushrooms on sour dough toast. The balance between the cream, tarragon and garlic is sublime, and the texture of the sour dough just right to prevent unwanted sogginess.Seating is provided in the garden and in the conservatory. 4 of us did a three island trip and had marked out covean for afternoon tea. We also had 2 dogs with us. Arrived about 3.30 to find a surly grumpy man behind the counter. We asked if we could come in with dogs he pointed to the garden and said 'there'. No good afternoon a smile nothing. We found a menu in the conservatory - he did not offer one- and still decided on cream tea. We ordered and our friend went to put the menu card down on the counter to go and sit down and was told aggressively 'put that back where you found it'. No would you mind, could you do me a favour. Needless to say we said forget it and went to the coastguard cafe further on who were the complete opposite. Based on the previous review I can only assume either these owners have some sort of problem or they think being rude to tourists is okay. Well it is not so if you are thinking of spending money here dont. Walk about 5 mins further along the lane and go to coastguards cafe who do appreciate your custom.

This was my first visit to the Scily Isles (my wife had been twice before) and I was completely captivated by them, and especially Bryher and St Agnes. My wife led me straight from the small boat that had brought us over to St Mary to St Agnes to this little cafe. She wanted to taste the fish cakes again. By fish cakes I mean big chunks of real salmon and cod with a fresh salad. I had a mountain of delicious creamy mushrooms on sourdough bread. My wife then ate Troytown ice cream on a large meringue spread with crushed raspberries, while I had a very tasty custard tart. The atmosphere was casual and laid back.
