The Elliot Arms may be actually filthy, but their food is the best and the biggest in all Cornwall and I couldn’t love them more!

I had the steak and kidney pie, nice big chunks of steak, not overly keen on the kidney, I bet the steak and ale is much nicer, but we went back for another one. The staff were brilliant, very helpful, and pleasant, a lovely atmosphere. The vegetables were very nice, probably local produce.

There were 7 of us, a dog and an 8 week old baby, when booking they were very accommodating to our specific needs. A very old traditional pub full of locals drinking and people eating. Food was all home made, hot and tasty. Service was good and friendly. Only downside is the loos, ladies is at the end of the building prob in a single brick added extension, walls damp and mouldy, not so nice. ☹

We hadn’t booked but called in on chance and were accommodated within 15 minutes. A busy pub with atmosphere and lots of nooks and crannies. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was really lovely. We ordered the lamb and the lasagne and the portions were large as well as tasty. Fresh sauces (no sachets) and a choice of potatoes, curly fries etc. this was good because so many places just tend to do chips. Lots of interesting artefacts around the pub and just the happy buzz of people out for the evening. Recommended if you’re in the area.

We had our first disappointing meal on our trip today at the Eliot Arms. The pub was adorable but the food was not great-and my son’s burger was the worst he has ever had. Service was not great-they reluctantly took a pound or two off the cost for a meal that my son couldn’t even make himself eat when he was starving. My seafood tasted like it was heated up from a frozen bag of budget seafood from a discount store-it it was alright-but do you go out to eat for something that is just All right? I would not waste your time or money eating here. My husband did say the beer was good so maybe just skip the food. Go to the Golden Lion in Port Issac instead! The difference between these two pubs was night and day (my son had a delicious burger at the Golden Lion-probably the best he ever tasted was his comment after that meal--in contrast to the worst burger EVER at the Eliot Arms-he could not eat it) . If you want a good meal-I would not bother with the Eliot Arms and definitely don’t have the burger-unless you like stale bread and meat that tastes like it is made of cardboard and is cooked so long that any moisture it may have had is gone.

Gorgeous little pub. Full of character and olde worlde. Excellent booking on the phone for the 4 of us and our 2 dogs. Food came quickly and was delicious. However with only 1 serving at the bar and 1 lad serving every table, the service went downhill. We left in hr end as we were tired of waiting for our dessert order to be taken. We had tried to order at the bar but were told it would be taken at the table. Having our adhd/asd son with us made this stressful for us. Its a shame as its a lovely pub and the lad serving was doing his best and was clearly stressed.

OMG! Best pub food we’ve had for more than a year (and we’ve eaten out many times). Food was hot and plentiful. Fascinating history of the pub detailed beside the menu. Such a pity we live over the border in Devon otherwise it would probably be a regular visitor. Thank you for a superb meal - mains and puds - fantastic choice and most home made. We have been to The Elliot several times before, the food is standard pub food although not cheap and the decor which it trades on is lovely but .... this time we sat in the back of the dinning room near the kitchen door - it was ok we were rather hungry and ordered to 'get in front of a large group'. Firstly the table was so sticky I couldn't pick my knife up, in fact the whole table was sticky. We thought ok this is funny we will plough on. One plate of Whitebait was ordered as a starter, this was expensive and unpleasant, the fish had their heads cut off and were quite big clearly not whitebait. Then came the long wait for two plates of standard steak pie and veg - one hour later it appeared with apologies as we had to wait for two large tables to be served before we got ours, despite our order going in first. This is not a complicated pub restaurant, this was not tricky food to prepare, two slices of pie and a few standard veg. there was nothing wrong with it, it was just too long to wait. In my restaurant kitchen if we had a large group in and two 'little ones' waiting we would get the small table out first and out of the way, a large group will always want more drinks in between courses and the waiting time for them would be minimal. As it was we spent 3 hours in The Elliot, most of it waiting for something that wasn't worth it. Served last and largely ignored, we are local people but we will not be back. Get your kitchen sorted Elliot, use soap and water on your tables, it really does make a difference and value all your customers!

Not many places serving food at that time on a Sunday, so called in to the Eliot Arms without having read any reviews. Talk about a happy accident!! We both had a roast which was hot, freshly cooked and was honestly the best roast I’ve eaten out ever (and I’ve had a fair few!)
