5 of us just had fabulous Sunday lunch. Selection and generosity of vegetables amazing. We all wanted a dessert but just didn’t have room! Next Sunday going with 2nd grandson, going to have a smaller main course so I can have pud. Very friendly hosts and conscientious waitress. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Came for Sunday roast and not disappointed, have been for Sunday lunch x 3 times and each time the food and service are great. The bonus of a long serving window and well priced menu. Definitely recommend a visit.

Great little pub, with excellent food. The 6ft Chef is amazing, although he did bore us slightly with stories of his darts and pool prowess. Staff amazing also. Landlady is exceptional, just has a slight dictator vibe. Would highly recommend and will 100% come again. Weekend drinks are also meant to be a fun and social evening.

The lunchtime food is an excellent menu at a very reasonable price I had the curry which was first class as it came but the chef kindly pepped it up even hotter for me with a small portion of his personal mixed pickled chillies and garlic. What a treat. My friends all had gammon and all declared it to be very good. Desserts were very good too. All in all an excellent and friendly country pub well worth a visit

Two of us enjoyed a dinner, finding two unusual starters in big fat juicy prawns on sourdough bread, with aeoli dressing, and Hoisin duck with pomeganate on chinese salad, We both went for the Cod loin with mussels sauce for mains, and Bakewell tart with cream for sweet. Washed down with some of the guest ale of course, from Hopshackle.

We booked at the last minute so we didn’t get a seat in the restaurant but we were tucked away in the bar. The food and friendly service more than made up for the lack of ambience however. Our sirloin beef roast dinner was excellent with ample fresh vegetables followed by a delicious light Bakewell tart. This friendly village pub and restaurant is definitely worth visiting.

The two of us ate at the Hare and Hounds, Haconby this week. Usual starters for us, King Prawns & Prwan Cocktail. Mains of Lamb Shank with real gravy, mint sauce & veg, and a 10oz Sirloin steak, with chips & peas. All delicious but left us too full (with all the wine) for sweets. Recommended.

My wife and I were staying in a lovely converted stables in Haconby, and although the accommodation was excellent, it was made even better by having The Hare and Hounds a short walk up the road. Derek and Mary, and the many locals we met, made us very welcome and we enjoyed the food, (particularly the Sunday Lunch), the warm welcome, the beer and most important, the playlists! We even did quite well in the monthly quiz!! Holidays are about memories, and one of the stand-out memories of ours, was having a lovely English pub on our doorstep.

Two of us with no food yet waited til 6pm, and we could have been in the H&H from 5pm. Never mind, starters me liver pate, toast & trimmings, Elaine her new favourite, the temura king prawns with sweet chilli dip & trimmings. I then went for steak & ale pie & veg, in thick gravy. Herself chose a large rump steak, rare with all the side bits, which she said was absolutely perfectly cooked. Lost the pic of that, sorry.

Friday night - prawn cocktails, 8oz steak with baked potato & salad & all the trimmings for one, large gammon steak, pineapple, fried egg, chips & peas for the other with 2 glasses of red wine each. Good quality food, loads of it and prices which are very reasonable is why we keep going there - added to Derek Holmes (landlord) cheerful personality.

Although we live locally, we had not been to this pub for several years. We went with friends last night, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were immediately made most welcome by Derek and shown to our Reserved, cozy table. The menu was varied, and we all ordered different Mains, all excellent. My beef in pepper sauce was especially tender & tasty, and the accompanying vegetables cooked perfectly. The chips are to die for! The bread and butter pudding we ladies ordered for dessert was delicious and obviously homemade. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

We visited midweek and the bar man was friendly but warned us the chef would be upset if we hoped to eat as he was about to finish - it was 8.15. Fortunately, we had only called in for a drink. The bar is a little dark with only one small window giving natural light, but there were a few people in who had clearly been eating and the atmosphere was good. It is a nice local pub, but probably not one worth travelling any distance to visit.

Popped by for Sunday lunch and what a waste of good money. Nothing was roasted about the roast... frozen reheated roast potatoes and Yorkshires and processed meat. In the world of publicity why bother. Friendly place albeit dated and decor like an old aunts living room waiting for her mates to come and share a sherry, but food was edible but awful. Nothing fresh here ...plenty of far better establishments near by.

Having read grim reviews of our intended dining place today, we decided to drive around the fens and find a roadside pub at short notice. We found plenty of closed ones and were panicking when heading towards 2pm and Bourne. However tacked to a telegraph pole was an advert for the Hare and Hounds. A swift left led us to a full car park, which generally tells a story. The sympathetic landlord agreed to fit us in without a reservation, and we then had a really first class roast beef dinner, at a surprisingly reasonable price. We found it by chance but will return in future to this first class pub.

Went here for hobby horse of the year competition with my 10 year old daughter who wanted me to write this review. She felt the venue was really nice and spacious. With good parking and easy access to the toilets and cafe. For this event there were two adorable Shetland ponies in a pen at the event. She was a little worried some of the loud noises Might spook the ponies but they were fed and looked after well.
