The food, both the paid for dinner and the included breakfast was excellent as was the restaurant service. Restaurant ambiance and outdoor dining area both very pleasant places for a leasurely meal. Sadly, at over £150, for the Saturday night, Room 4 fell way short of the standard I would expect at this price level. Whilst decor and fittings were very good, the ensuite too, the rotting single glazed windows allowed far too much noise in, both from the main road right outside the window, but also the kitchen extractor fan which was left running all night. There was also far too much light coming under the door (next to the bed) from the corridor outside. Sadly I didn't pack my earplugs, but at over £150 a night I didn't expect to have needed to!

We had a lovely Sunday roast for a family birthday. For starters we had beetroot falafel, honey roast fig and creamy blue cheese mushrooms on toast - all lovely. Roast beef and mixed roast (beef, chicken & pork) for mains which were really good. We’re quite picky/hard to impress with roast dinners out but it was fab. Beef was very pink and tender and the veg was done really nicely too, we all really enjoyed it. Kids had sausage/fish fingers and chips…they have kids roasts and pasta etc on the menu too. We were too full for puddings (kids had ice cream) but we had brought a small birthday cake and the staff really kindly turned off the lights and brought the cake and candles out singing Happy Birthday which was lovely of them. The bill was reasonable for the quality too. Overall, we were really impressed with both the food and service - we will definitely be back!

I can't fault the efforts of the serving staff, they were great. I went here with my partner the other day. His food was really good but it felt like my dish was a bit of an afterthought. I ate the cauliflower curry. I like how this place does vegan options but if feel like if you do them you need to make them count. Curry felt underseasoned and the further I ate the more acidic it tasted, with it actually kindo reminding me of ketchup to an extent. It wasn't really a pleasant experience but I didn't want to say something at the time as my partner was having a good time, but I personally feel like the vegan dishes need a lot of development especially for the price paid.

We booked the Royal Crescent Hotel through a travel agent along with another couple. We paid for an upgraded room, the Heritage room, yet we were given a classic room. When we questioned this, we were told that other rooms were not available due to they were waiting on new bed frames, and that they were fully booked. I’m sorry I didn’t insist that they downgrade me and give me a refund! Of course they did not offer😠
