Middleham Fish & Chips in Richmondshire

Wow, what a chippy! We come from Kent and stayed in Middleham for a week so had Fish & Chips our first night after a long drive.Very friendly team, had a good chat whilst we were waiting. Incredibly fresh fish and the gravy is epic.A little gem in a beautiful village.

First visit at Middleham fish and chips. Definitely won’t be the last. Delicious fish and best sausage ever had from any chippy. A sausage about foot long and a proper meaty sausage like from a good butchers rather than your standard chippy little meat sausage. Husband very pleased with his portion of scraps as well.

Simply the best fish & chips we have ever had. So good we had them twice in a week and the two ladies cooking and serving where fantastic. So much want to live there, but on the other hand I don't !!.

Friendly staff and beautifully cooked fish. Loads of chips too, all light and golden.We shall return here for take away on our next visit.

We went here for tea as we were stopping next door at The Richard 111 hotel and didn't fancy a proper tea. We weren't dissapointed they were delicious, two of us had fish and chips whilst our son had sausage and chips. The sausage was 1ft long! All in all very very good.

We visit here when we holiday in Middleham, and are never disappointed. The fish is cooked fresh, and you would be hard pushed to find any fish and chips better than here.

Simple menu, absolutely delicious! Fresh, crispy batter, beautifully cooked fish, superb fish shop chips, what's not to like? We agree with so many if these reviews, the best we've had for a long time. Don't hesitate....

These are the best fish & chips of any i know at the moment. If you have not been i suggest you pencil it in sometime.

Called in for fish and chips as we were passing through Middleham. They were the best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time. Friendly owner owner with good local knowledge of nice places to stay and things to do. We’ll be calling in again :)

We were passing through last friday, hungry so we stopped for tea. Both had fish & chips and both agreed that they are the best fish & chips we have had for a long time. Well done & keep doing what you do best. Will be calling again this week but this time it will be a special journey.

Collected fish and chips from here on a Saturday night and brought back to our cottage. We did this as we had seen amazing reviews for their fish! The portions are really big but would expect so considering prices are more than other fish and chips takeaways I’ve had. The fish and chips were more greasy and wet than crisps, which I prefer, so probably won’t return again when I can have better fish and chips.

After spending the afternoon at the forbidden corner also first class, we decided to pop into the chippy. Glad we did the owner was on his own with a cue but not an issue, just did what he needed to do and all was served in reasonable time as most of the food cooked fresh(fish and chicken dippers). The fish was amazing, crispy batter and moist fish, sausage was one of the best I have tasted and dippers good, chips were ace. Big portions so you won,t be hungry. Way better than Masham chippy.

Good sized portions and good fish and chips. Haddock or sausage etc Parking available and picnic benches out the front. Very good.

Visited Middleham for a few days and noticed this shop in the Market square and locals recommenbed. We decided to visit on Tuesday evening to try the fish and chips only to find out it was closed.

Wow I absolutely LOVED the fish and chips! The fish was wonderfully cooked and the batter so light and tasty. The chips were perfect with some lovely crunchy ones at the bottom, just the way I like them!

The early evening queue out the door of this place suggested something good and it was. Perfect chips and my wife said her fish was some of the best she's ever had. Definitely worth a visit after a trip to see the castle.

5 of us had fish and chips. Sat outside in the sun and scoffed the lot. Quite simply one of the best bits of fried fish I have had in years.

While on holiday we had haddock and chips from Middleham fish shop. It is absolutely fantastic. The lightest non greasy batter we have encountered, fresh fish perfectly cooked and wonderful chips of gargantuan proportions.

Had the pleasure to visit Middleham because of the Tour de Yorkshire road race going through on Sunday. Popped into the chippy and Wow.. Fish was Haddock, cooked perfectly, the chips done to perfection. I had a curry too.. made also perfectly. Owner was really friendly and happy to chat. Priced fairly for location. Will definitely come here again.

Promised the owner we would call that evening. Not disappointed, cooked to order and the chips and batter was first class. Very sociable couple who know their trade. Well done. Seating area just outside next to the Richard Third pub, perfect!!

Called in here at 7.45 one evening, was unsure whether it would be too late as it closes at 8pm. But a lovely couple who owned it cooked us fish & chips and chatted to us. Felt very welcome and we sat outside to eat. Really good fish & chips. Definitely call here if you get chance.

This is good straightforward food done the Yorkshire way - plenty in a portion, good ingredients and a friendly frier! The entire premises has had a very recent refit and is as clean as a whistle. Do not however expect southern affectations and a huge menu. There are tables outside for scoffing your food on sunny days.

Tried the chippy last week (the first time since it reopened) I had fish,chips and peas and it was all superb,couldn’t wait to try again,and tonight was the night,once again superb,large fresh cooked fish and cracking chips and peas,couldn’t finish it all,and I can eat,best fish and chips I’ve had that haven’t been on a coast

Fish and Chips fried to order, very big potions and very tasty too, if you want a quick fill whilst in the area this is the place for you, no eating facilities inside but we were staying local anyway

Beautiful chips, sausage and curry sauce for a treat for tea. The owner was very friendly when I rang up to ask if they take card payments which they do so that’s very convenient as we never have cash on us. We had three portions of chips between four of us and there was lots left too. They were super yummy. Food was fresh and hot and lovely. We will be back! Thank you

It was our annual weekend away with friends and due unforeseen circumstances we couldn’t get to the restaurant we’d booked for Saturday evening. However Middleham Fish & Chips came to the rescue. At short notice ( just a few hours) they produced 18 portions of perfectly cooked fish & chips with a variety of sides. Brilliant meal to start our evening celebrations. Thank you so much for the fab save. Would definitely recommend a visit.

A group of 18 friends were staying nearby and couldn't get a taxi to a restaurant we had pre-booked. We were struggling to find somewhere to accommodate us all and tried at Middleham fish and chip shop to see if they could help out. Staff were very friendly and managed to fulfill our large order. Lovely food, enjoyed by all.

Excellent friendly service. Asked for large order for 12 people for a specific time. Was ready dead on the dot and was the best we've all had for a long time. Highly recommend

Visited the forbidden corner today and called for fish and chips on our way back home to Huddersfield. We honestly think these are the best fish and chips we’ve ever tasted! Cooked in beef dripping exactly how they should be cooked! Highly recommended. The chap who served us couldn’t have Of been nicer and even gave our little girl a free drink too. Massive portions cooked fresh excellent all round. Lovely area outside to sit and eat. We will return thanks again.

The owner is friendly and as soon as we walked in made us feel so welcome! Was asking which part of yorkshire we were from ! I told him the posh part which he thought was really funny as we are definitely not! And the food was amazing x x x thank you ! My favorite place anywhere is middleham x x x

The title says it all. The gentleman serving was very friendly, food cooked to order, mushy peas and curry sauce very nice but chips underdone and fatty. Fish tasted very fresh.

After a long day out we decided to opt for a fish and chip dinner. Fish was plentiful along with a large portion of tasty chips. All cooked to perfection. Not greasy at all. Would definitely recommend

Came for a quick lunch and just spotted this chip shop. It was absolutely spotless and friendly. The fish and chips were made fresh and very tasty and relatively cheap.

Just perfect .....closed for a while and just reopened and even better than before highly recommended good price good quality

Freshly cooked fish straight from the pan accompanied with some cracking chips. I visit every time I am in the area and have never been disappointed. The icing on the cake is a friendly, helpful owner.
