We had a delicious dinner during our Jazz festival weekend in Leyburn. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice, everything was very fresh and well presented. We had a lovely bottle of wine from a great wine list. The service was excellent and very friendly. We will definitely visit again next time we are in Leyburn

My husband and I have wanted to eat here for a long time but don’t live locally. We visited Leyburn for the weekend in order to do so but we were unable to stay as their two rooms were already booked (Clyde House opposite was excellent by the way). The venue is friendly and the bar area more cosy than the main dining area; which was a bit sparsely decorated. We received a warm welcome and the service was very good. The food was very tasty - I had the wood pigeon with plum and beetroot salad starter which was delicious and my husband his tempura squid was also very good. The duck with sesame sauce was too spicy for my husband so we swapped our mains between us and he had my lamb instead (Just a poor choice by him for his taste - I would have happily eaten either.) Our puddings were excellent and everything was washed down with some good wines by the glass. I would happily eat here again as we were not disappointed and I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Lovely evening with fabulous food and great wine, what a treat. Tough choice on what to choose from the menu as it all looked so tasty. Home made bread, hummus and butter to kick off set us off at a fine pace for the rest - black pudding, soufflé then duck and lamb to follow, all delicious. Washed down with a lovely NZ sav, well done to the chef and team. All from a relaxed and friendly pub p/restaurant beautiful little town in the Dales.

Welcoming staff, tasty well cooked food and dog friendly. I’d recommend the steak ! It melted in my mouth ! All set within a lovely old stone building in Leyburn.

Beautiful food and great service. We had Squid, Pigeon, Sea bass and fillet steak. We were so full we shared a crème brûlée!! The restaurant was lovely decorated and the staff were extremely friendly.

We had the most amazing lunch here, complimented by a lovely place and people. With the added bonus you can take your dog in with you. We’ve been on holiday in Leyburn and decided to go for lunch, I’d looked online at various places and decided the Sandpiper looked like our sort of place. We weren’t disappointed, food was cooked to perfection, I had the seabass the husband had the fillet steak, both cooked to perfection. The husband raved about the rocket salad with the steak ( and he’s not normally a salad lover). Definitely recommend trying this place for lunch or dinner

We ate here two nights running as the menu was so interesting. Both nights were absolutely faultless, the service was brilliant by all staff. So friendly and went the extra mile each evening. The food was delicious, perfectly executed and so so tasty. A good wine list and the vast selection for a couple of fussy drinkers!

We loved our visit to The Sandpiper, I had the duck, my Wife and Dad both had the steak. The food was fantastic, the service was friendly and the place itself is really nicely set out. We too the dog so sat in the snug. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Disappointing overall... came for my Birthday meal. We both ordered steak medium rare ...my husbands was well done so consequently it was returned and by the time it came back I was 3/4 through my meal. So my husband felt like he had to rush ...it just spoiled the meal. The decor and ambience was nothing special. The presentation of food was basic and looked unappetising. The selection of alcohol beverages is limited. This restaurant is listed on the standard Michelin Guide ... unfortunately I would not return and was left very disappointed. I would not recommend and if you are looking for somewhere to.est on the area definitely go to The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton

Excellent little restaurant. Great food at a reasonable price. Friendly, efficient staff with nice atmosphere. No loud music, a great bonus. Highly recommend but make sure you book to avoid disappoint as there is no where else in Leyburn that matches this place.

Just left The Sabdpiper after one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long long time. The food is exceptional and whatever you order you will not be disappointed, but the atmosphere and service was the best of the best. We had our 9 month old in tow and they couldn’t have been more accommodating or understanding. This was our first trip to Leyburn but we will be back in a heartbeat even if it just for a meal at this place!

It’s rare to find superb dishes (imaginative and delicious) in a place that’s elegant but very friendly, with a warm welcome from the owners and great service from the staff. We had a wonderful evening meal. We recommend the asparagus starter, the black pudding starter, the lamb main (so tender) and the mushroom tart main. We hope to come back soon. The Dales are stunning and the Sandpiper is a gem.

Lovely meal from start to finish! The members of staff were very friendly, we had a lovely chat with one of the ladies about food recommendations and local activities. We ordered: Cheese soufflé - absolutely stunning Fillet steak- beautifully cooked to our liking, seasoned well and accompanied by delicious chips and salad. I changed my chips for dauphinois. Creme brûlée- absolutely gorgeous, lovely vanilla custard with the perfect caramelised top served with a homemade ginger biscuit. Can’t recommend this place enough, great food, wine and service!

We were accomodated at very short notice and enjoyed a lovely evening and great food. I had the braised beef cheek, which I cannot praise highly enough, melted in your mouth. Followed by bramble and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. A special thanks to all of the staff who were so helpful. We will be back.

Excellent quality food, well presented. It was quiet midweek but is a very pleasant place to eat a special meal. Decent selection of wine.

We went to the sandpiper after arriving in Leyburn for the weekend, expecting a good but unexceptional meal given that we had booked another, higher profile restaurant for the following evening. We were very pleasantly surprised! They have an imaginative and well thought out menu, which was executed brilliantly. Could not fault any of the dishes we had, with special mention going out to the pheasant and pressed lamb mains, and the blackcurrant delice pudding. Will certainly return any time I’m in the area.

There has been a murder! Went to the Sandpiper for my wife’s birthday on the back of good reviews. The red wine was mediocre (Malbec and Merlot) but all was ok until the main course. My wife had pheasant. Or a piece of carpet underlay. Or the insole of a shoe. Or whatever it was. Because it wasn’t edible. It was so overdone and dry that it would be hard to describe it as anything other than murder in the 1st degree. And was a disgrace for a restaurant which should know better than to plate this up. I promised to be nice to the waiting staff who were great and did nothing wrong. The pheasant main course was knocked off the bill but it spoiled the evening and we will not be going back. Unpleasant pheasant which was not a present.

Lovely cozy restaurant which was dog friendly. We booked for 8 of us and we’re out in the snug which we got to ourselves. Right next to the toilets which the dog loved as he got a fuss from everyone who walked past to get into them Food was really nice and staff really friendly. I can’t stand mint on lamb and asked if I could have the pressed lamb dish without this and they ended up giving me another gravy for it instead which was lovely. Drinks were all good and a nice selection. Cheese and crackers were really nice too. Most of the table got adffogato for desert which was again delicious.

It's very noisy, okay for groups, not good for romantic evening for couples. Only my opinion, though food good.

A very warm, friendly pub with excellent food at the high end of dining. The staff were professional and attentive and are happy to go the extra mile to ensure the customers get what they want.

I have found it difficult to find good vegetarian food since staying in Yorkshire, until I found this gem! My husband- who is very much a meat eater also found this restaurant to be ‘on point.’ From the phone call to book, to turning up to a warm welcome this restaurant has it all. The food cooked very well, presentation excellent and I simply could not fault any part of the experience. I had the cheese soufflé and my other half steak- both delicious and if we were local we would definitely be coming back!

The food was absolutely delicious. Beautifully presented and all lovingly freshly prepared. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for money considering the quality of the dishes. Restaurant was a little quiet but we were quite late to dine and out of season. I can imagine there is a real buzz in there when it is busier. Tastefully decorated in simple stylish rustic Yorkshire style. Highly recommend. We may go and stay next time were in the area too.

We have just moved to Harmby and we were very pleased to find that the Sandpiper was in the Michelin guide and it was only just up the road so we could not wait to try it out. You will not be disappointed great food and front of house and we will be defiantly be frequenting the Sandpiper often....

We were visiting the area and had been recommended the Sandpiper Inn. It exceeded expectations and was probably one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I asked for a few modifications to the dish owing to food allergies, these were done without any fuss, and a gorgeous meal was presented which I thoroughly enjoyed. The waiting staff are very friendly and also super efficient. We felt it was fantastic value for money especially bearing in mind the excellent quality of the food. It also has to be said that the decor is lovely too. I wish we were more local so we could come often. Its another excuse for visiting this beautiful area again soon. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We celebrated my wife's 60th birthday here on Friday and WOW The venue is beautiful, warm and atmospheric. Staff were as amazing as any I have ever had the pleasure to meet. And the food, what can I say......simply stunning. And I have got to thank the girls because when I booked, I told them that it was my wifes 60th celebration. So when it was time for them to bring my wife's birthday plate, they were genuinely confused because they couldn't believe that she was 60. That was probably the best gift she received and made her feel a million dollars. So ladies, thank you so much. We had an amazing evening

Final day of our week-long Yorkshire Dales holiday and the meal we had at the Sandpiper Inn was the best by a country mile! The taste and quality of our meals was superb. We started with the homemade bread and houmus, and followed with the Duck leg and oriental salad for myself and fishcakes for my wife. Highly Recommend this gastro-pub. Very welcoming...even for our 2 dogs which was great for us.

I can not fault our experience at this restaurant. The food was AMAZING. Each one of us had something different and each of us had an astounding meal. Portion sizes were perfect, the meat, fish, veg etc were all perfectly cooked. In addition, the service was wonderful, friendly and efficient. The surroundings were great and there was no problem us lingering after our meal to chat. None of this ‘we need the table back’ rubbish. It was quite pricey but two of us had fillet steak and I don’t mind a bit considering how lovely the whole evening was. We will definitely make this our go-to place 😊

Excellent food beautifully cooked Full of flavour. Had a lamb dish with a canberry and mint jus. Lamb was so tender Friendly service An added bonus was gluten free as they don't use gluten in any their sauces. Very good value

We've not visited The Sandpiper for a while, so we were looking forward to it. The food is always good quality, and that's not changed. What was disappointing was the inappropriate behaviour of a couple of the younger waitresses. There is a line where being friendly and over familiarity lies and what could be considered as 'banter' can soon become uncomfortable and rude. Disparaging comments about a diner's choice of food and drink, isn't quite what one expects from an establishment like this. The customer definitely isn't right, seems to be the mantra in The Sandpiper it would seem. It was all a bit disappointing and soured the evening, meaning we'll not be rushing to return or recommend.

Brilliant little restaurant inside this place. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It isn't pub food so you pay a little more but well worth it for a quality meal which has been prepared with care. We sat in a large but still cosy dining room and there was another dining area across the hall. Really enjoyed our visit, definitely recommend.

Excellent - great food with informal / friendly service. A great menu - offering some great dishes as Starters, Mains and Desserts. . A dog friendly venue too which was a bonus as didn’t want to leave our Labrador home alone in the place we were staying. Would definitely recommend and return if ever back in the area.

Probably the worst restaurant experience I have encountered. Whilst the younger staff were very pleasant the older waitress was offensive and felt us feel so uncomfortable. The food was not as expected for a restaurant displaying a Michelin sign, poor quality and bland. Please save your money and don’t bother to visit.

Took my wife for lunch at the Sandpiper Inn when out for the day on her birthday. It was a great success and we will be going back when we can. The Inn is unpretentious but comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and friendly....

I visited with my son and our dogs. It's a beautiful place and nothing is too much trouble. The dogs were welcomed and even got a biscuit ! The food was amazing, lots of local produce. I'd highly recommend and will be back the next time we're near layburn. Booking is advised as its very popular

Every time I go to Leyburn I stop at the Sandpiper and the food and the service never disappoint. I would recommend!

Great food and very friendly staff, I had the Tempura Squid to start , followed by an excellent Spearhead Fillet Steak and real chips, couldn't handle a pudding , but others in my party did and judging by the empty plates they tasted great, the only tiny slightly negative was, I'm in the Yorkshire Dale's and the only Lager on draft was Estrella !! , would have been nice to have something that was locally brewed.

Stunning meal and right from the beginning we got welcoming vibes. I rang on Friday afternoon on the off chance and were made to feel so welcome by the lady I assume is the owner. During our meal she was so attentive and genuinely caring. The food was absolutely sublime we had the Lamb and Beef cheek. It was so tender and delicious. We would certainly return if lucky to be in the area again… Sticky toffee pudding alone deserves some sort of prize. Thank you

We had a very enjoyable evening meal here. We ate in the dog friendly snug alongside a couple of other dog-attached couples. Very good value and friendly service. I wasn't sure that the spinach additions to my starting cheese soufflé worked, but my main venison burger with black pudding and onion bhaji worked perfectly.

Excellent…Excellent…Excellent My wife & I visited the Sandpiper restaurant on Saturday, the 17th of September (2022). We were warmly greeted by the Maitre d’,a very friendly lady. The waitresses and waiter were very young but were excellent, very polite, friendly and professional, they had obviously been trained very well. The food was first class, absolutely superb. As we walked in the welcoming ambience of this restaurant was apparent. We were shown to a lovely table decorated with gold helium balloons ( it was our Golden Wedding Anniversary). The food we had was superb brilliantly cooked and professionally served with a smile....
