Excellent. Very friendly staff behind the bar (2 young ladies). Good beer and excellent food. Need I say more?! Definitely a “must” for anybody visiting Wensleydale.

What a great pub. Nice atmosphere, really friendly attentive staff. The food was great. Burger was amazing with blue cheese and the chips and onion rings incredible. Great beer selection too. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Met friends and locals, Food and service is excellent and value for money. I found the barmaid to be quite surly! Possibly in the wrong job. But the waiting staff and kitchen staff Are exelent

Lovely staff, great food and just a cosy country pub!

Been here a few times in the past and have never been disappointed with the meals. We went in a party of 6 with 2 dogs so asked for the small room near the kitchen so we were out of the way with the dogs. I had the Sweet and Sour chicken, which was better than what I get from my local Chinese take away the others all had Steak an Ale Pie which again was exceptional. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good old down to earth pub grub

Visited whilst staying nearby on a Sunday evening, two hungry humans and a pooch. After a long days walking we struggled to find anywhere that served food nearby after 4pm, luckily the Three horse shoes was still serving food until 8pm. Friendly service and great food! Highly recommended if staying locally.

Great Sunday lunch, save room for the puddings which were excellent. Advise booking as it was busy. Staff cheery, would definitely go back for lunch or evening meal

Great country pub friendly staff and great food

Visited this lovely pub a few times whilst staying at the Station House on the old Wensley Heritage railway line. Carry a great selection of Yorkshire beers and serve fantastic food including the best beef pie I have ever had so good that six of us returned and all ordered this fantastic pie. Would really recommend a visit if ever in the Leyburn/Wensley .

Highly recomend a visit. Wonderful Gluten Free Sunday lunch including Yorkshire Pud. Friendly informed staff who knew what they were talking about.

Fantastic wee pub this. The pizza was really good. My wife had fish and chips and said it was great. Kids meals were great too. Has a good size car park and plenty of outside seating in the sunshine. Girls working behind the bar were really friendly and helpful too. Would definitely come back!

Had a lovely visit to this place. Nicely finished inside, friendly team and very allergy conscious. Great food, very accommodating. If we’re passing that way again we’d defo stop by.

Stopped here for a pizza over the weekend and it’s really good quality and the setting is lovely. Friendly staff, good beer and a sunny beer garden…What more could you ask for!

Called in on the way back to Reeth for a quick bite as on last night of holiday Lovely county pub. Staff friendly and helpful. Ordered a pizza which was lush. Would call in again next time.

We came here for a delicious Sunday lunch after a long dog walk. Food was hot and plenty of it!! Staff were also very friendly. Thank you for a lovely meal! We all had the roast beef, which I followed with a Bakewell Tart. Delicious!

Having tried most pubs in the area over 10 year plus the Shoes is the one we often use .Aaron has done a great job since taking over 5 years ago . All staff are very welcoming but I need to mention Rosie as very friendly x And the food is and always has been lovely every time .

Proper country pub with proper country food and generous portion sizes. Had the lasagne and double burger. This is a fantastic place to eat and drink. Not to be missed.

Stopped there mid walk twice, welcoming staff, great beer. Yesterday we had a sandwich there, they were excellent and good value.

Dropped in for lunch on the way to Cumbria a dog friendly pub. Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Food was very good and plenty on the plate. Recommend the steak pie with suet crust!! Definitely one to return to in the future. Moderately busy even on an April Monday so I suspect it might be worth phone ahead further into the holiday season.

Just payed £ 50 odd pounds for 2 VERY POOR steaks

Always try and pop in here when we are in the area, great home made food and good sized portions. Would recommend the home made pie and scampi, burger is also great. The chocolate brownie is great for desert, definitely recommend this if you have room.

Busy local, with inexpensive food menu. Well kept real ale.

We ate here on a cold, wet March evening. We were ready for some warm, comforting food, and we got it. Burger and chips for me and scampi for my wife. We both had a dessert too and my wife declared her Bakewell tart to be one of the best she’s eaten. We had our Airedale with us and she stretched out in front of a warm fire. Perfect!

Beautiful old worldie pub but with a modern twist. Lovely atmosphere and great bar lady Paula. Food was delicious, herby suet crust steak and ale pie with tender chunks of steak served with fresh vegetables, chips and a rich gravy. Would recommend.

Came for Sunday dinner as a family of 5. Staff were so sweet and attentive. Food was extremely flavoursome. Great atmosphere and beautiful view from window. We all left happy, especially after the sticky toffee pudding! We will be back!

Warm and comfortable country pub with good food.

We ate lunch here on Christmas Eve and again on Boxing Day. We had been once before a few years ago and were delighted to find it hasn’t changed. Fantastic friendly staff, warm and cosy atmosphere and great home cooked food. The sandwiches are generous and tasty. My husband had never seen so many prawns in a sandwich before. My bacon bap was yummy. Nothing fancy or pretentious about this pub and we absolutely love it. Wish it was our local so we could try the evening meals too. In fact, just wish it was our local !

Food was lovely and the staff were so helpful - no problem swapping chips for garlic bread, answering questions on the pie (YES - a real pie with pastry cooked in contact with the meat). Brought water for our friend's dog.

Previously frequented and looked forward to getting a hot drink and something to eat. Thought our luck was in as only a handful of people were in the bar talking to the staff. Unfortunately our teas and hot chocolate were cool enough to drink when brought to the table!! My friend requested a jug of hot water, which didn't go down well with the girl that served us. I left over half of my hot chocolate as it tasted powdery. Due to this, we didn't stay for anything to eat.

Friendly village country pub with a genuine friendly welcome and excellent food and beer. One of our little group thought that the food was a little too salty but that was just one person’s view out of the three of us. Easy parking with lovely walks all around - perfect.

This is a great venue for a pub lunch. Good menu, friendly helpful staff and a great woodburner stove that warmed us all! Good real ales and wine by the glass. Defo go again! 😊

We enjoyed the 3 horse shoes. We had an early 6pm tea for 6people. I had rump stake others had fish and chips. . Is small but had a very local atmosphere and was made welcome. Beer was excellent with old peculiar, my favourite, but only had half pint as driving. Looking at wine offering, heart sank but when discussed they had others in back which was passable so everyone was happy. Defo drop in for a pint or pub grub and you will leave happy, even with 2 teenagers!

My wife and I went here with our 1 year old son the staff were absolutely amazing. So friendly and caring they interacted with our son and nothing was too much to ask for. The food was delicious! Such big portions for such a reasonable price. Would definitely return if we're back in Yorkshire

Excellent meal and service, highly recommended

Fantastic place to visit especially while doing our circular walk. Sat outside in the sunshine eating our lunch, mid October, very unusual. Food was great as was the service, well worth a visit if in the area.

Lovely pub with a nice friendly atmosphere. We had the homemade steak pie with chunky chips, carrots, parsnips, cabbage and gravy. The food was very delicious, very big portions. I would definitely recommend eating here.

Called in today but to late so booked for tomorrow will not be going as staff were terrible- lying a on a bench in dining room and on bench outside a couldn’t care less attitude when asked 1) to book for tomorrow 2) The location of toilet

Last visit the service was extremely slow, we didn't get to have desert as no one came to clear our plates and ask us. However the food is great and the staff are polite and friendly. They maybe just need to have 1 specific staff member on the bar and the others for restaurant.

Booked a table here pacifically asked for Sunday roast told to come in at 5:45 did not have roasts when we arrived was told they had run out to which they didn’t notify us of, bar staff were very rude and abrupt stuck us in the corner of the bar with a baby… local lads were making comments to my 13 year old daughter was made to feel very uncomfortable which is a shame given the earlier good reviews but my personal experience was awful.. we have been coming to the dales for many years and never been made to feel like this if I could give it no stars I would.

Good pub food and plenty of it! Good selection of beers and ciders. The only downside for me and this is happening more and more why do people going out for dinner, feel they need to bring their dogs with them? In the small dining g room we were in there were six dogs.

It was packed and busy but staff was good at staying on top when they can. Iv ordered meat fest pizza. Pizza it self was so good but the chicken was dry and rubbery is the only thing but I would definitely come back.

Only stopped for a pint mid-walk and the weather was good enough to sit outside but the pub seemed quite pleasant and the food seemed popular. Wensleydale Semer Water and Theakstons Best both very good.

Old fashioned pub, black sheep on tap and a great menu. Staff were very friendly and the whole business looked well run.
