The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

We ordered a takeaway afternoon tea for three for Mother’s Day and were not disappointed with the amazing selection we received for a very reasonable price. Everything was very fresh and tasty, from the finger sandwiches to the homemade quiche and sausage rolls, the macarons, tiny cakes and scones with jam. Displayed on my folding afternoon tea platter it certainly looked the part for a wonderful Mother’s Day afternoon celebration whilst staying at the nearby Castleview Holiday Lodges at Lauder.

Stayed for 2 nights to do some walking and running in the Yorkshire dales. Location is brilliant and it looks nice and cozy from the outside. However, the bedrooms are very tired and need a complete refurbishment. Tired decor and old worn and stained carpets - felt very grubby - the bed was comfy though. The food was ok, nothing amazing. Don’t think we’ll be going back.

My porridge turned up cold, so I sent it back. It came back and it came back cold a second time. I asked for sourdough toast with my breakfast, but was told “it only comes with certain meals”. They said they could give me sourdough bread, but they didn’t bother giving me that either. The other plates of breakfast were not hot either. Overdone poached eggs. Some of the staff were not unduly friendly, or helpful.

Beautiful food, very reasonably priced, incredible service. I had a Caesar salad and sparkling elderflower, really filling for a lunchtime, the ingredients were all super fresh and high quality, served quickly and by friendly waitresses. We walked around the 'garden' centre centre afterwards, it was our first visit, and I still can't believe how big it is and how much choice there is of home and gifting as well as all the plants. well worth a visit.

Staff were lovely but having paid £15 to park our car we were looking forward to a lovely lunch and a walk. The walk was great of course but very little choice of food. Ended up with a bacon sandwich which was pretty poor quality and small for £5.50. Ice cream selection was nice though.

This little cafe sits right by the sea. The staff are really lovely and welcoming, despite finishing food for the day they still agreed to cook for us. Ham, egg and chips was amazing and our little one was very happy with his sausage, chips and beans. The menu is pretty extensive and there was some lovely cakes on offer too. Reasonably priced with proper mugs of tea. Toilets were also spotless which is also imperative!

This is a really nice hotel, the room was very clean . Breakfast was good with options for vegetarian and gluten free. The owner was very helpful . Close to the castle and merlins cave also local pubs and restaurants. We will definitely be going back. I recommend this hotel.

The atmosphere was very pleasant but the waitress staff was absolutely atrocious and the attitude with them when asked for condiments and when asked for plain food due to dietary needs was greeted with a attitude problem I've eaten at many establishments and by God this was one of the worst experiences that I have ever been subjected to the food we received was delivered in drips and drabs so the kids had finished they're food before we had even had a chance of even smelling the food which was at least 5 minutes apart between each tray that they used meaning that the food was cold when we started to eat and meaning that some of the guests required to eat food before the others making us feel impolite and disappointed with the experience would highly not recommend going there on a Sunday afternoon.

Very nice late Sunday lunch Food plentiful with reasonable choice Something for everyone Waitress / waiter very attentive and properly trained We have been previously and saw a massive improvement in staff and food. I would thoroughly recommend the venue. A word of caution trying to introduce entertainment Group too loud for leisurely lunch Group good but wrong genre Please keep trying , the food and staff perfect

Esta fue nuestra tercera visita al salón de té y me encantó cada momento de ella. Desde la cálida bienvenida a pasteles absolutamente fabulosos! servicio profesional y hermoso entorno. El té de la tarde perfecto en el Midland y rematado con una copa o dos de champán!

Came for lunch , restaurant was very busy but found us a table in the corner. Enjoyed the lunch , especially the fish chowder ! The service as pleasant, swift and efficient !

Another great meal at Lochside this time for my mums birthday, I can’t see past the monkfish so stayed true to form and again it was awesome, halloumi pakora was also a great starter a jewel for east Ayrshire and highly recommended as always

£16-40 for 2 dry scones and 2'cappuchino. Ridiculous. Won't be spending money again. Shocking. Much better places in high street
