Staff were lovely but having paid £15 to park our car we were looking forward to a lovely lunch and a walk. The walk was great of course but very little choice of food. Ended up with a bacon sandwich which was pretty poor quality and small for £5.50. Ice cream selection was nice though.

DONT BOTHER with this over priced and nasty little place. As soon as you arrive the staff charge out and aggresively demand you pay for parking. We were going in!!!! We had two pieces of old dry cake and luke warn tea. There was a human nail in one of the cake slices. Utterly disgusting experience. Never again.

Visited last week with my partner and children after a long walk from the Cavendish car park. Children had ice creams and hot chocolates and my partner had a delicious sausage sandwich. I chose the scone which was home made, fresh and fluffy. Just what we all needed for the long walk back along the river! All in all a fab day out :)

Unique experience with amazing view (at the back of the tearoom). Very friendly staff ready to meet our needs every time we visit. Selection on the menu depends on the number of people passing through that day, but still there is a choice and hot chocolate deluxe is a must there for us as well as ice cream. Their beautiful gift shop is like no other too. No cheap tat like in other places. Most of the gifts are hand-made by local makers to a very high standard. We always go there to find gifts for special occasions. The girls are going well above their job description, shame that they have to work as car park attendees too and take the blame for high prices forced by Bolton Abbey Estate.

Never has this place let us down, with very friendly service, and great food cooked exactly to my specifications. I love the gift shop. Others report food running out, as do other places where custom demand, versus lack of staff, who work seven days, a week, this is nothing out of the ordinary on occasion. I can only comment negatively on one thing, the poor staff have to man the extortionatly priced car parking, alongside running a lovely tearoom, which they do so well, which leads to heavier workload. Regardless, they never complain.....fabulous as always, Diane and Nicci.

Having read reviews on TripAdvisor I had some trepidation stopping here and though we didn't have any issues there is a fundamental problem for the Tearoom workers that causes so much friction/trouble. The car park here is one of 3 on the Bolton Abbey Estate visitors can use to access the walking routes. Unfortunately, access to these car parks comes with a single £15 charge. No problem, if you have paid at one of the said 3 for that access but if stopping at the Tearooms just for the tearoom or gift shop you still have to pay which obviously no one wants to do just to have a cup of tea etc. The poor staff are constantly fighting the same battle with such visitors and the mistake that has been made is unlike say the RHS Gardens in Harrogate where you can visit Betty's Tearoom without having to pass through a manned separate entrance, here the staff are covering both the cafe and the car park access charge. There is no charge for accessing the walking routes or Abbey just the car park so as a business model it's a disaster. Beyond this frankly dumb method it appears the staff are a little fraught and edgy as we witnessed curt responses to queries regarding food availability (non). Outside the seating is broken/old and inside there is little seating and a disorganised feel to the layout and what can be bought in both gifts and food. It's a bit of a car crash all around basically.

Arrived in the rain and parked in the car park waiting for a respite in the deluge before we went in. We only waited 5 minutes when we were startled by a very hard bang on the car window. Standing at the window was an 60 year old women. I opened window somewhat afraid and said 'can I help?' And she replied very aggressively 'no can I help you?' She then spat out 'if you park here you pay!!!' I explained we were about to go in and were waiting for a pause in the rain. She then turned around uttered an expletive and went into the tea room. My elderly wife and I were so upset at the aggression we decided to move on. I've subsequently noticed this has happened to many other people here and by this unpleasant women as well. We visited this tearoom in August 2020, with most of Bolton Abbey having updated its signage and rules for Covid-19. But this cafe didn't even take our names and phone numbers (despite there being a sign on the front door saying it's a requirement!) - every other place we've been to in the Dales has been doing this for the 'test & trace' programme. Secondly, we had our afternoon tea outside, and were told that because of this we couldn't get the 50% off under 'Eat Out to Help Out,' even though it was a Monday because apparently eating on an outside table counts as a takeaway service. And our table was still treated the same as any indoor one with full cutlery and crockery. As NHS health workers, this is the most ridiculous thing to be told because not only is eating in an outdoor space safer (and should be encouraged by the people who run this place), but we were never informed of this when we were actually making our orders inside the restaurant. Not only this, they then refused to give us a full receipt because I suspect they're fully aware that they're bending the rules and treating customers unfairly - do not go here, these people will cheat you!

We called into the tea rooms with our 3 year old Son. My first impressions were that of disorganisation. Lots of staff, non of which seemed to know their duties or the order in which to carry them out; Therefore service was slow. There was one Person behind the counter trying to carry out too many tasks on her own. Although she was pleasant to customers, her attitude towards staff was less so. In my opinion, there needed to be staff training and a lot more communication.

How hard would it be to have two lists one for savouries and one for desserts and write them down simultaneously. Food then arrived and slapped on the table in front of us in a very unpleasant way. Nearing the end of a fabulous day of walking in beautiful sunshine our group decided to call in to the tearoom for much needed refreshment. The cakes looked very appealing so some of us decided to treat ourselves. My choice was a rather gooey chocolate muffin to go with my pot of tea which I enjoyed although the price was quite high at £2.75. But, my friend chose a piece of rocky road cake and it was truly awful! The consistency was like a rock, and it had barely a marshmallow inside, not to mention no raisins. It was so dry and cost £2.50. We tried to finish it off but simply couldn't, it was so bad.

We paid £10 for parking at the main Bolton Abbey "Riverside" car park, and after a long walk with the dogs there, visited the tea rooms at the "Strid Wood" car park. We were pleased to find the parking ticket was valid in the café car park, and after a morning's amble we were looking forward to one of the special offers listed on the Bolton Abbey information leaflets... Buy a hot drink and get a free scone was the particular offer we were interested in. However, we were informed that the offer was only "one per car", which was rather misleading. The café staff were duly apologetic and confirmed they'd requested the wording on the leaflets be changed, but in the meantime they were having to explain this issue to visitors like us, who were (thankfully) thoughtful enough to ask prior to ordering. So, having already paid the estate a tenner for our presence, we decided to find tea and cake elsewhere. On the positive side, the café looked clean and well presented, although not very busy, which was curious. Prior to leaving we used the toilets, which were regrettably not in the best state, and presumably weren't routinely checked. The toilet rolls in the male toilets were damp due to the atmospheric moisture, and consequently could not be used. The sheets simply fell apart in your fingertips and couldn't be torn from the roll without shredding and tearing apart. The large pile of ripped paper on the cubicle floor should have warned me something was amiss! Wasn't overly impressed with the car park exit either. It's situated on a slight incline slope next to the entrance junction, and has metal crocodile teeth fitted to the ramp! So if you try to leave and then roll your car backwards to give way to other incoming vehicles, you risk perforating at least two of your tyres! Not the best logical thinking!

The estate is lovely and I can justify the entry price considering the upkeep of the paths and activities. What I found to be rather saddening is that after paying £10 for parking, we were told in very certain terms that eating a picnic on a bench over the road from the tea rooms is not allowed! This was on a quiet rainy day. We had intended to buy ice creams and drinks but felt quite opposed to the idea after being told this.

As a regular visitor to this area and staying on the Strid Wood CC site we have visited this little cafe often in the past.Owing to illness we haven't been for a while but called in as we usually did for a drink and snack.

Been here several times, nice pies and pasties and the home made cakes are delicious, friendly staff and handy if you are staying on the caravan club site

Maybe went on a bad day, but served by a rather grumpy gentleman. Food was ok but was surprised that the cream tea was served with a strongly flavoured cinnamon scone rather than the traditional plain scone. Not as welcoming as it might have been.

My family and I visited Stridwood Tearooms earlier this month and upon arrival were given a warm welcome and felt very much at home. We ordered a selection of hot and cold food, including delicious warm drinks and were very satisfied. The staff were bubbly, informative and very warm towards us. We paid our £10 ticket and took a stroll through the beautiful Strid. Would highly recommend!!

Had the cooked breakfast this morning, everything cooked freshly to order, good quality produce and well presented. The staff were so polite, helpful and friendly and we felt relaxed and comfortable. In fact it is not just the delicious food that makes this such a little gem of a cafe but the friendly personalities of the staff. We enjoyed our meal so much that we went back later in the afternoon for hot chocolate and cakes. Gluten free also available and it is dog friendly.

Got seated with menu then waited!! After 15 minutes I had to ask for order to be taken. Food was good when it arrived. Our waitress was less than efficient. Other customers arriving after us were served some time before us.

Good pub menu and on the whole food very good. I had a problem with one element of mine but staff reacted brilliantly to resolve it. Great friendly customer service

We called in here to break up a car journey and my wife had the sausage bap and I had the bacon bap. The baps were a good size with plenty of filling, indeed my wife was unable to finish hers. All the staff were efficient and helpful and we may well have to return again in the not too distant future.
