Bizzie Lizzie's - High Street Car Park in Craven

Got seated with menu then waited!! After 15 minutes I had to ask for order to be taken. Food was good when it arrived. Our waitress was less than efficient. Other customers arriving after us were served some time before us.

Great fish and chips, cooked fresh and good price. Battered sausages are monsters! Only thing to note is it was haddock only no cod which it didn’t make clear online. Quick service too even on a busy Friday night.

Shown to our table by a very unfriendly young Lady. The table was not set for service A few minutes later she arrived back with the cutlery which was thrown on to the table didn't attempt too set the table no crockery. A young man then came to take our order which took a while as he didn't seem to grasp what we wanted from the menu. My friend ordered a latte which was cold but they did reimbursed her my tea arrived no cup no teaspoon no jug of hot water which is normal when you order a pot of tea. We then asked several times where was our food the restaurant was not particularly busy the staff did not appear to have had any customers service training abysmal will not be returning ever again

Had lunch and it was well cooked, hot and very enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Establishment including toilets were clean to a very high standard would recommend to anybody visiting Skipton.

Take way, take away and bin you mean. We decided after a long day to take a detour and go for a takeaway in Skipton - big mistake huge the restaurant had just closed so got a takeaway only wanted a chip sandwich and a sausage each. No bread cakes so just went for the sausage and chips instead🤢 the chips were none existent just a few scrappy things in the boxes and a sausage each, that I assume must have been kept warm since Tuesday. It was enough to put you off Chippy take ways for life We have been to both the takeaway and restaurant many times over the years but not any more

Average quality, I feel this restaurant are a little over rated and probably relying on their reputation. Not too sure about 'Award Winning' - what's all that about? Had better fish and chips from other local fish and chip shops.

My wife and myself went here for a lunchtime meal and sat down at 12.00. Within 5 minutes or so the waitress took our order for one fish and chips and one fish with salad with two teas and and shortly we were brought the teas. We then waited for some 20 minutes for our meal to be served. Both fish dishes were over cooked and fairly small. It appeared that these had been sat perhaps on a hot work top whilst the salad was prepared resulting in being over cooked We advised the waitress and also on paying but there was no apology Considering the meal for two came to £33.50 for two meals with tea its poor value for the portion size and certainly for the quality ignoring the near half hour to get served. The restaurant was less than half full on a busy weekend …wonder why?

Bizzie Lizzie’s used to be good, and I’ve got many happy memories eating here with family over the years. Thought I’d bring my own children here on a recent trip to skipton. Big mistake. Only one server on duty for the whole restaurant - our food arrived after 45 minutes wait but we had to wait even longer for our drinks! The food was awful. As others have said the chips are disgusting and mine tasted burnt, we all wasted so much food as a result. My husband (who eats pretty much anything) said it was one of the worst meals he’s had in a long time. One of our party had the prawn salad and the prawns tasted off. It was not good value at all. Despite going here many times over the past 40 years we will avoid in future.

Massively disappointed. Initially give a half potion of chips (19 - yes I counted), thankfully they gave a full portion when I complained. Chips - where a roulette of overcooked or undercooked with the occasional edible one thrown in to make it worth the risk of eating. Fish cake - for some reason refried resulting in batter that was at best described as caramelised but in many places burnt, this left the fish inside overcooked with a rubbery bland taste. And the potato slices between a soggy, oily mush. I’ve never wasted so much food.

A warm welcome from friendly attentive staff. I’ve had bigger fish, but oh my word, it was fresh n fried to perfection, chips n Yorkshire caviar were spot on! Will be back!

We never received our food; we were asked to leave before our order arrived:- I was at the restaurant with my son, a friend, and his son. We had ridden there from Bingley and was looking forward to our fish butties. We parked our bikes outside and leaned them against one of the outdoor tables. Since it was raining, we didn’t think this would be an issue, as no one would want to sit outside on wet tables in the rain. After placing our food order, a waitress approached us and requested that we relocate our bikes. I politely asked where she’d like us to move them to. She seemed confused and unable to answer, so she said she’d fetch the manager. About three minutes later, the manager arrived and insisted that we move our bikes. I pointed out that it was pouring rain, and no one would be sitting outside in such weather. He didn’t see it from my perspective and wanted us to leave. Given that I was with two eight-year-olds and the restaurant was only half full, I didn’t want to create a scene, so we decided to leave, more or less being escorted out. Other diners were equally surprised by the restaurant’s attitude, and everyone seemed at a loss for words. THIS PLACE IS NOT CYCLE FRIENDLY, I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK!!

Popped into the chippy for some chips to takeaway. Impressed they were open quite late for a Sunday evening. Easy to find on the main road near the bridge over the canal. Chips were nicely cooked and hot. Just what I needed!

Sat in the restaurant service could have been quicker. When I received my food it was borderline whether to send it back as I expect food like this to be hot and not just warm. It's the second time this has happened. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy on either occasion. It's a shame because the fish is very tasty

We arrived at 17-50, seated straight away as the place was not too busy, maybe 4/5 other tables occupied. Ordered F&C tea. Tea pot & 2 slices of bread and butter arrived promptly, but 20 minutes later tried to ask waitress walking by, if our meal was close as our tea was drunk and bread was starting to curl. TOTALLY BLANKED! Tried again 10 minutes later, same again! I was not happy, As we left ( 18-40 ) there was still no reaction from staff. I am sorry for not paying for two cups of tea, I have never done this before, but I was upset

Lovely food, good selection of food, greeted by friendly staff at the door. The fish was lovely and the chips were scrumptious.

Staff are totally inept. Food less than average . Train your staff in good customer care manners as they slag you off when you have gone. Visit at your peril

Stopped to get some good old Yorkshire chips and a potato scallop - so wonderful. It’s the dripping taste. Being a native but having lived in Cumbria for 43 years where they really don’t know how to cook fish and chips!

Amy was lovely and really looked after us, so welcoming, helpful and happy. What an asset to the restaurant she is. Always enjoy the haddock and chips here and just as good as usual.

I went yesterday for fish special chips and mushy peas plus a portion of chips. Instead of cooking me a special ,i was told there was one ready and was fresh out of the fryer . Having taken it round to share with my elderly mother to share was very disappointed to say the least . It was dry and stale , god knows how long it was in warmer for but fresh it was not . I would nt have wrote this complaint if fish n chips were a cheap meal but I paid over £15 .Will be steering clear in future.

No sure if this place has changed ownership recently but we and other family members been going for years and was always good quality. On our last most recent visit it was different. The fish had a pink tinge to it which I have experienced before at some other chippies. Apparently it is a sign of substandard fish- something to do with the way they are caught/killed and are a cheaper product. I’m hoping this was a one off because unless it is pure white and delicate again ( as it used to be) next time we go it will be our last visit and also other family members who frequent it!!! Would be interested to know: Has this place changed ownership or management? Have they changed fish supplier recently? I await the response which would be provided by a reputable shop!

Left over Haddock, visited Friday 17th afternoon walked in staff asked how many fish my reply one, Then fish came out the fryer, three children was in front they got the fish that came out the fryer and watching the server was going to pick the fish up decided to pick the fish that had just come out the fryer then gentleman in front got fish and chips seems the server new him leaving the fish that was originally there when I came in to the shop then I asked for Haddock and Chip And guess what I was served the fish that was left while two fish left , yes I wasn't happy and mentioned it to the server I wasn't in to argue but I could see this happening. I spent a lot of money in this shop it was a birthday treat for myself and this spoilt my day as F&C are expensive you expect good service.

Very bad customer service Whilst waiting hearing the staff talking about pushing someone through a plate glass window does not make for happy waiting. When a friend of a worker was recognised it was “I’ll get you a proper fish mate, no worries” 5 or 6 fish had just been put in the warmer and the fish he was about to be served was put back to join them. The fish cake is 2 thick and undercooked slices of potato with mashed fish between, battered and fried. Dont order one unless you want to be disappointed. The fish served was not large by any measure. It was cooked nicely and tasted nice. However if had not already paid we would have walked out of the shop on hearing the staffs banter and lack of regard for their customers. Guess that’s what you get when the shop is next to the main car and coach park. No insensitive to have anyone revisit.

The service was indifferent and disinterested - cutlery and cups literally piled up on the table. The fish and chips arrived promptly, was hot and sufficient. Had to ask for tartare sauce. Specifically asked for no onions in the salad but there were onions in the salad. The tea however was atrocious! The strongest, muddiest tea I ever saw! Had to ask for extra milk and hot water. Bread and Butter was bog standard sliced bread with 4 crusts. No hot water in the bathrooms.

We always come here when we come to Skipton and each time has been fantastic service and beautiful food, however this visit was absolutely dreadful. We walked in and there was one other table so after waiting 15 mins we had to go up to the counter to disturb the 3 girls talking to take our order, food was slow coming out but when did was completely wrong, I asked for fish, half chips and half salad but when it came it was just fish and chips without any salad, also ordered a fish butty but when that came out it was just the bread without the fish, waitress didn’t even apologise just seemed unhappy we had complaint about our wrong orders. Take note manages you need to sort your staff out because this place used to be amazing. Looks like another customer lost.

It was okay as a one off but I’d much rather of grab a meal deal from the M&S next door. The prices were very overpriced I must say. I had to ask for a receipt as I couldn’t believe the price at first. Found staff a little rude shouted to wait outside.... not one of them smiled or atleast said Thankyou as I left. For roughly £7 the fish and chips portion was small , left still hungry. Some of the peas were rock solid I hurt my tooth and had to spit out. Put me off the rest of the peas which again for a small portion was overpriced. Curry sauce was bland. Fish wasn’t the best decent size for a lunch time snack but very grey in colour. Wouldn’t go again... despite all the good reviews I think people need to try other local chippys for much less and better quality!

A visit to Skipton would be incomplete without a trip to Bizzie Lizzie's. The quality of food, price, service, cleanliness are always great and this visit was no exception. They seem to be dealing well with the COVID 19 procedures in place and would recommend to anyone visiting Skipton to try this exception Fish and Chip Restaurant with a wide menu for all.

We decided to eat in a Bizzie Lizzes and it was well worth it and good value, We found that eating early we could ensure we were away from other diners but the necessary precautions were in place.. I would not hesitate to recommend it

We travelled across country to get our usually beautiful fish and chips from Bizzie Lizzies, only to be served almost inedible luke warm food, which we both ended up putting in the nearby bin. The fish was obviously left in the warmer and was most likely leftover from the lunchtime run, it was extremely dry and hard, and the batter was less than crispy and was stuck to the fish like concrete. The chips were also cool to the touch, and the service was definitely not served with a smile.Having spent £15.60 on two take-away fish and chips meals, one with mushy peas and the other one with gravy, it was a huge huge disappointment.Yes, we should have taken them back and complained, but a queue had started to form outside the shop and mrs grumpy was grimacing behind the counter.... So, sorry guys, it will be a long time before we are back !!

I made my annual visit to Skipton last week and as always lunch at this Restaurant is a must! Little bit quieter on a Monday and with the most appalling weather it was still a bustling scene. The Waitresses are always to be mentioned, friendly andwelcoming, efficient and on the ball. For Seniors smaller portion of Haddock and chips with mushy peas was the best I’ve had for a long while. Really crispy batter, but not over cooked., peas just right.chips good , Followed by Trea cle pudding with Custard.Filter coffee hot and strong...what’s not to like? Always very clean and tidy, Reasonable price..... good parking just across... well done Bizzie Lizzie.

I have previously slated Bizzie Lizzies near the canal but this experience was much better. The welcome was very friendly by Sol. He’s was very good at his job and listened to my order and repeated it back to me. Such a difference to the other shop where the staff are ignorant. Service alone has taken star rating from one to three. Food is average and there are much better chip shops in Skipton but unfortunately they were not open.

I feel I’m in the minority, although seemingly increasing, group who was decidedly disappointed group.Firstly cost: £42 for two adults, two kids and drinks. Just main courses. No sides, extras or puddings. This is on the steep side. Don’t mind paying for better quality but not this.Kids was fine. One came without a side that it should have come with.Ambience - all a bit squashed in I felt. People nudging chairs and table just trying to get through. I know it’s money, but it actually was too much. Food - chips didn’t feel crispy and fresh. Why isn’t there ketchup on the table? It’s a fish and chip shop and we’re paying a lot!Service I guess could be described as “text book” but not genuine. Dirty finger nails was a little unappetising. The thing is we go to the Bizzie Lizzie’s overlooking the canal at least monthly and love it. Have never complained and even the little things am happy to go with. This one felt too much greasy spoon service and seating with high end prices.The food was “ok”, the service was “ok”, the restaurant was “ok”. I wouldn’t tell people to avoid it but I also wouldn’t advise they go. It was all just very average but without an average price. Service OK, no problems with the young girl that served us. Main problem was with the chips in particular, they had been hanging about for a while and not freshly cooked. We ordered plaice in breadcrumbs and chips and scampi and chips. When arrived the plaice looked and tasted like frozen fish and not fresh and made on the premises, the chips were fine but extremely small portions, the scampi was just average. Unfortunately when visiting Skipton we would not returned it is over priced.

We recently visited for some food, went to a famous fish & chip shop and had burgers!! They were beautiful, not at all fatty or gristly, so so tasty, proper cheese too, not the plastic cheese slices. Chip we’re proper chips and again really tasty. There were lots of specials on too, and they also did some yummy puddings. Staff were lovely and friendly too! Will be returning!

We have just paid £28 for 2 fish and chips, 2 teas, bread and butter and a fruit shoot. For this price we would of liked at least a side each or bread and butter included.The chips were a little over cooked. The fishes varied grately in size and not very big. More batter than fish so having paid the same price for both we were not impressed. We have had much better meal at the trawlerman just outside Skipton. Yes the food was edible and nice and hot but just average and not worthy of the prices they charge

Really disappointed today after having to wait for 45 minutes for our food to arrive I had fish and salad, some of the lettuce was brown and the cucumber had gone transparent because it was poor quality and not well prepared, it was sprinkle d with a large quantity of cress so this was not immediately obvious. My fish had clearly been sitting on the plate for a while, as the fish was Luke warm and the batter cold. My husband s chips were cold, and his steak pie hot from the microwave with an unappetising piece of flaky pastry thrown on the top. We were asked if everything was okay when we both had a mouthful of food, so couldn't really answer properly, by this time we just wanted to get it eaten and back to the carpark before getting a ticket. When paying I was asked if everything was okay, it clearly east for reasons explained, the cost of our cup of tea was deducted from our bill leaving a total of twenty two pounds to pay for badly prepared food. This is ironic, as the cup of tea was the only decent thing we had

A while since we visited Skipton, and this restaurant is a fairly recent addition. Stylish, modern, very clean and warm. And a warm welcome for a 'family breakfast'. Well cooked and presented and not expensive. Staff attentive and helpful. Overall, worth another trip, quite soon.

It was a quiet, very cold Monday morning, the restaurant was warm, service was quick and efficient and the food was excellent. We had a Bizzie Lizzies big one and family favourite breakfast, both included toast and a pot of tea. Excellent value for money, easy access, with car park directly outside. Brilliant! Would highly recommend a visit, set our day up very nicely. Well done to everyone concerned!

Good quality Fish and Chips.Portion of the Haddock we had was a bit small though.Mushy Peas and curry sauce were marvelous. There is a take away but you can choose to sit down at the nice restaurant as well,but than you pay more.

We’ve been to skipton on several occasions and it wasn’t I read a review in a national paper that I decided to pay a visit. We turned up to the restaurant part (their is a takeaway section) and didn’t have long to wait to be seated. Service was quick and looking at what was being delivered around us didn’t help us make up our minds what to order as it all looked amazing. In the end we order the uk’s favourite fish and chips. When it arrived it was presented nicely, no grease on the chips and the batter on the fish was light as a feather. I have to say this one of the best fish and chips I tasted all washed down with a lovely cup of tea. I can now see why this place is high recommend for food. Next time you go to Skipton do try Bizzie Lizzie’s and you won’t be disappointed. As a foot note the staff are so friendly and bubbly

Visited Skipton for afternoon, called into this fish n chip shop, quality good, portions modest, prices high.

Decided to visit, being a group of five. Clean, welcoming and good service. Excellent traditional menu. Food arrived in good time and tasted good.
