The Cavendish Arms in Craven

Visited today with family one of whom is a wheelchair user and they could not have been more accommodating. The landlady was lovely having a laugh and joke with the children. Food was excellent and home cooked, the pub is delightful and inviting. Will definitely visit again. Would recommend a visit if you are in that area.

This pub is terrible the landlady is aggressive, when I commented about the delay of 1 hour for food,she just tore into me for no apparent reason in front of other dinners totally disgusting 😕 worst pub every had a meal I'm please don't visit

We were staying here in Embsay for a few days, and decided to go to the Cavendish Arms for our evening meal. We booked for 6.00pm. We ordered our mail and were told at 6.50 that the people who had arrived after us were being served but ours would be here in 2 mins. At 7.10 pm the owner came in to ask if the other diners were ok and if everything was ok. We looked at her but said nothing and she hurled abuse at my partner, we were shocked, in fact the other diners said “leave” that’s disgusting. Our food came which to be fair was very nice, but the customer service was appalling. We paid our bill no apologise, in fact my partner said wow that was not nice and the bar attender said that’s my “mot her” don’t say any more. We were going back on Thursday to eat as it was convenient to where we were staying, that certainly will not be happening. Absolutely disgusting customer service, avoid at all costs.

Fantastic food and service in a very welcoming and relaxing setting.

An unexpected treat. Not been before but will definitely be back. The steak and mushroom pie was lovely, excellent pastry, and my other have declared the burger to be very good. Good friendly service.

Had 2 meals and drinks paid with a card never got a receipt, next day couldn't believe how much we had been changed.

Visited on a Tuesday evening and we enjoyed very tasty food served with a smile! We hadn't eaten there for some time, but we will definitely be back!

Called here today while visiting the bolton Abbey railway. We were made very welcome. The service was superb. The steak sandwich was delicious. Dog friendly and well priced. Many thanks.

Good home proper home cooked food. I've never had gammon as tender and juicy as the one here. Good cooking starts with quality meat! Good portion sizes. Vegetables nicely al dente and piping hot. Pleasant friendly staff and atmosphere. Good value.

Found this by chance and called in after seeing some Motorhomes in the car park. Popped in to be greeted by the owners who said they were fully booked for food but welcomed us to stay. Called in for a drink and what a lovely greeting. The locals are very friendly too. Can Highly recommend

Nice traditional village pub serving good real ale esp. Butcombe bitter at a sensible price. Never eaten here but looks good.

Stayed in car park overnight in camper. Very warm welcome, locals were really friendly and the food and service was excellent, well above the normal pub grub and would really love to visit again when I’m back in the area

The Cavendish Arms was recommended by the Embsay Railway and it is a great recommendation! We arrived for lunch on a drizzly day to a warm and pleasant welcome by the staff. The pub is extremely clean and warm too on a cold October day! The food was very good too, it’s standard pub fayre but cooked very well. We had kids sausages and goujons and the adults had beef madras and chicken in blue cheese sauce. We couldn’t fault the food or the service. The other thing was how cheap it was too for such good quality food! Can highly recommend this place and we will be back!

Ordered Rump steak with the trimmings took a bit of time to arrive but was nice when it arrived

Absolute gem of a place - great food, friendly staff and lovely locals! We stayed overnight here in our campervan and were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived! Some beautiful walks direct from the pub and an ideal peaceful base to go shopping in skipton. We have already raved about this place to our friends and family, we will most definitely be back!

We had a few lovely days at Cavendish Arms on the carpark in our motohome the pub is very friendly and the food was very nice Thankyou fir letting us stay see you again some time

Spent two nights in the camper on the car park , had drinks and meals , all very nice .The Landlady and staff worked really hard behind the bar and in the kitchen. I think it was busier than they thought so was a short delay on serving the food. Its was nice and good value. Dog friendly too there are many woodland walks directly from the car park, with a stream to wash the dog. 25mins stroll into Skipton . A great place to stay for free.

Great friendly pub good food and nice atmosphere

We visited The Cavendish Arms at Embsay for a family meal when we were visiting Skipton. Fortunately we had booked as it was very busy. The menu was varied, and would satisfied all tastes, plus the addition of about 8 or 9 specials. We were warmly welcomed and treated to some outstanding food and very good selection of drinks. We had the Beef and Ale Pie, Ham, Egg and Chips and Pork Escalope and Penang Curry from the specials board. The food was a good portions, well cooked and presented and certainly very good value for money. The beef pie was exceptional and must say it’s the best I’ve ever had. The car park is flat and allows stop-overs for caravans and motor-homes. About 5 mins walk away is the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Heritage Steam Railway. We are seriously planning to return in our MH next year and will definitely be visiting The Cavendish Arms and the Railway.

lovely place to do a pub stop over in my campervan. The home made food was lovely and not fatty. The Car park has flat areas with a brilliant view. The owners and staff are lovely and make you fell welcome. Dog Friendly and a good dog walk just off the carpark. It was so quiet through the night. ( would stay again. Brill Thank you

we rang ahead to see if we could park overnight with our little dog and reserve a table for the evening to have some food. They were super lovely and the food was amazing! I will definitely come back!

We stayed here in our motorhome with our friends staying in theirs at the side of us. Friendly welcome, good good and beer, couldn’t fault it. First time doing a pub stopover and did two nights. Great location with a nice forest walk to skipton or you can go the road way, about 30mins. Taxi back £8. Will go again and can’t fault the hospitality at the Cavendish Arms. Sunday lunch . Beef cooked just right and must have had half a cow. Well worth a visit . Staff great as well

Stopped here for lunch on way back to Skipton. Can highly recommend. Lovely food at a good price and very friendly lady who served us. Hubby had a lovely steak roll and I had prawns smoked salmon salad beautiful and well presented. We have been a few times years ago but as money bit tight havnt been out much lately. Its only just out skipton and far better value with very good food than some of the well known pubs in Skipton itself.We will be back.

Home-made local food to a high standard at reasonable price. Nice place to have a drink and chat with local people too. Highly recommended.

Lovely little pub. Lots of separate rooms. Couple of real ales on hand pump. We had a buffet for a private function and it was really good. Plenty of food and lots left over. Friendly landlord too.

We stayed for one night without electric and tucked our motorhome away at the end of the car park which has country views. Good access to lovely walks. The pub was really friendly, a proper yorkshire wrlcome. We ate at the pub and food was excellent. Typical pub menu with a couple of veggie options too.

A pub / restaurant with a wonderfully warm atmosphere. We arrived late and hungry after a long walk - and after they'd switched off everything in the kitchen. But despite this they happily rustled up a delicious and filling tuna salad with warm new potatoes - perfect! What's more, they had a very good Doom Bar zero alcohol ale. Definitely one we'll visit again. For the Covid-cautious they have a lot of outdoors seating, with a cosy "cabin" and a larger covered area

We stayed overnight in our Motorhome. (£10 with EHU, free without, if you eat in pub) Good food and beer in quaint pub with lovely staff. Easy 20 mins walk into Skipton.

Delicious food and friendly staff

Having popped in for a drink after a walk one day day we decided to go back one evening for dinner. Well after turning up like drowned rats due to a sudden downpour 2 mins from the door, we were warmly welcomed and treated to some outstanding food. I had the spinach and ricotta cannelloni and must say it’s the best I’ve ever had. Hubby had fish and chips with a super light batter and homemade tartare sauce. Wish we were staying longer so we could go back before we leave.

Great Motorhome stopover. Carpark is flat. Trees help block wind pretty well. Friendly pub with great food and drink. Stayed here on our very first time out in our recently purchased Motorhome. Very good experience, highly recommend and would definitely go back when passing.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the cavendish, This hotel/pub was lovely, big rooms with a huge bed- breakfast included which was lovely, we had food one night in the pub and it was amazing! Staff all friendly. Great location to go and explore. We will defo be back

We had a lovely lunch at the pub which was a short 3min walk away from the Embsay Railways. We went in, a famiy of 8 with kids and were given a lovely side room to ourselves. There were some quiz books in the room which kept the kids entertained till food arrived. The food was really tasty. All the staff were lovely and friendly too. Will recommend.

Excellent little pub with the advantage of stopping on the car park with our motorhome, we always ring ahead and also book a table for their really excellent food that they serve. Very nice and friendly owners ,also just around the corner is the steam railway where you can book trips do try the evening curry Express fantastic .

Stopped over for one night in our motorhome. A really warm welcome. £10 for EHU and water. Booked an evening meal which was delicious, hot and tasty. Great well priced menu. We had braised steak, mine with creamy mash, hubby had chips Nice and quiet through the night. 1903 old train just 2 minutes away, so we had an hour round trip, stopping at Bolton Abbey for a brew. Thank you so much for a lovely welcome stay.

Friendly staff, food piping hot and freshly prepared. We had fish cake and mushrooms to start both very tasty. We both had slow cooked beef in Guinness delicious. Great service, food service was prompt. Too full for dessert.

What a loverly pub...spotlesly clean excellent food this couple have a keen eye and it shows...we stayed with the motorhome on the car park...and we're spoilt rotten after a beutifull main course I had to roll out of the door ...thanks folks for a nice evening xx

Had 2 lovely meals here while staying at nearby Bondcroft farm. The food was delicious the service great and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend it.

Really friendly welcome! Arrived in the area and tried a couple of places en route, all busy or closed. On the off chance rang ahead and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Table booked with ease, food was served quickly and was delicious, with good sized portions. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Told we were very welcome to park overnight in the campervan and woke to a babbling brook in the morning. Highly recommended.

Fabulous friendly pub near the Embsay Steam Train we called in whilst we waited for our National Holidays train ride - there was an outdoor event and n with bbq and some classic cars in show so added to our interest. The pub was fabulous - really warm welcome - really lovely beers and whilst food wasn’t on as the bbq was the n full flow a pre booked afternoon tea on the table next to us looked delicious and was getting many positive compliments from the people clearly enjoying the “tea”. A lovely time and we’ll done to the staff for making this such a friendly call before our train ride - we’ll worth a visit

Went on the railway early and booked a lunch for parents and grandparents with a 2 yr old and a friendly spaniel . They could not have done more to accommodate us . Felt at home . Friendly staff , spotless , excellent food at...

Great pub ,friendly service great food and if you like trains the embsay station is 2 minutes walk away, big thanks to all the volunteers that made our train journey special.

We travelled up from Derbyshire in our motorhome and stayed in the pub car park for two nights. The stay was £10 a night for electrical hook up. We eat at the pub each night and the food was superb! The home made burgers were...

Called it just for some lunch on a Sunday. Just managed somewhere to sit. Which is a good sign. Ordered drinks and food. lovely friendly staff our drinks arrived quickly and the food about 15 mins later which is just right saying how busy they are. We both ordered scampi and chips with garden peas. We both thought where excellent quality and cheese cake for afters 10/10 for food proper pub grub. If I'm in the area again will be back.

Called in for some food after a enjoying some walks in the area. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and we we serviced politely and efficiently. The beers were good and the food was just the job at reasonable prices.
