Very good atmosphere. Suitable for families, couples or groups. Good range of drinks. Food was good and inexpensive.

What lovely and friendly staff with incredible pub grub, although still in the process of being refurbished the 'High Corner' have out done themselves, lovely crisp goujons to start, a beef burger to die for and a grilled chicken burger that was cooked to perfection, only change i would recommend would to have sauce in the burgers other than that this place is on the right track!

Food was so tasty and staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Entertainment was fab. We will definitely return.

Booked our works xmas "do" Fri 17th. Catherine and her team have been accommodating throughout and nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen put out a lovely roast dinner for our table and it was remarked how tasty it was by all. The prawn cocktail starter was gorgeous and 90% of our table had this and literally licked the dishes clean :-) The pub was busy but not too busy which suited us because of all the latest news and it made for a really relaxing fun atmosphere. A special thanks to the Local singer who was amazing (soul and motown) - great voice and we had a great boogie! All in all, the service, food and entertainment were fantastic. The value for money was brilliant. In the past, the pub has always struggled in one way or another and I wish Catherine and the new team at the high corner the very best in the future as we had a lovely night . Thank you very much! Big Thankyou to Catherine and the team, they phoned me to let me know they had just taken over the High corner and they had seen our booking for the 2nd Dec for a gathering of 30 plus which they honoured and for the price that we had been quoted, the buffet was excellent, plenty of food and all laid out perfectly, massive Thankyou to you all at the High Corner Llanharan

Came here in late afternoon with my partner, not been in since the new owners have taken over, was met with a warm welcoming, owner and staff were very friendly and very welcoming, food served fresh and proper chips! Portions were huge and well worth the money, very relaxed meal, even though the owner was busy preparing for the nights entertainment he had time to talk to us and had found his humour appropriate, definitely will come back and will bring my family next time, and highly recommend 😊

We have visited this pub on many occasions since Sarah and Joel took over. The atmosphere is brilliant. All the staff are really friendly and very helpful and the service is excellent. The food choices are great and everything we have had has been absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend the three bean chilli (it even comes in an edible bowl) and Sarah's home-made madras. The carvery is absolutely amazing with an excellent choice of meats and veg and the gravy is fantastic. We had a take away carvery due to the pub being closed for lockdown and it didn't disappoint either. Will definitely order again. 5 stars in my opinion. Also, if you are still working from home and need a change of scenery, you can book a table to work from there. 11 - 4 you have your own table, tea/coffee and biscuits and a light lunch with free internet access. - £10. Took the parents for a meal earlier today, first pub visit since February, we went to the High Corner, what a lovely difference since they've been taken over by new owners,a lovely welcome, very friendly, the food was delicious , if you want a warm welcome and nice food, I highly recommended and we've orderd our Sunday lunch from there for delivery as well

We had Sunday lunch here yesterday. It was absolutely amazing! Huge portions, the meat melted in your mouth, great selection of freshly cooked vegetables and beautiful homemade Yorkshire puddings. Then to finish the most delicious homemade honey comb cheese cake I have ever tired. The service was great. The chef made a point of checking with us to make sure everything was ok. We will be back with the kids next. The dog loved the left overs which you kindly let us take home. Thanks :)

We booked our table for,1pm,we were showed to our table by the new owner,it was all table service,we had the Carvery ,we had standerd ,the meal was lovley ,lots off veg,and the Yorkshire was huge and I had lamb, my husband had turkey,,more than enough,we were both very happy,the staff were lovley.Masks on iff you went to the toilets,hand sanitiser social distancing.will come again.

The High Corner has always been our local favourite so we were concerned to hear it was being handed to new owners. But we needed have worried it is still absolutely brilliant. We had a Sunday cavery and it was SO good, the gravy especially. Comes with stuffing and cauliflower cheese as standard! Will be back many many times!

I entered the pub to look at the menu with a view to taking my family to dinner that evening,I enquired where I could find the menu and a polite gentleman referred me to the chalk boards.Suddenly a man sat at one of the tables remarked "Have you booked" without looking up or averting his gaze from his smart phone.I replied "is there a problem (the place was empty)Again without looking up he replied "I have 17 people coming later"He did not try to offer me a suitable time or extend me any courtesy whatsoever.I thought to myself if this is the attitude of these people before I order any food, what will it be like during the meal ?????HIGH CORNER you have lost the custom of a very good local family who will never enter your establishment again.

The High Corner fitted us in at short notice & the service was very impressive. Sociable staff & they went out of the way for our 9 year old who wanted two different ice-cream sauces. Used to go frequently with the old owners but we won’t return with the new owners now. Firstly, when someone at the table asked for a dark fruits, the young bar boy said that they didn’t do it and didn’t offer any alternative but we later noticed him give someone a rekorderlig so very confused why he didn’t offer that for our table. Then, we asked for barbecue sauce to go with the Tennessee chicken but the young boy brought HP brown sauce in a tub which was poured all over 2 dinners and ruined them. Then when we asked if we could pay separately (only wanted to split 3 ways) the owner huffed like it was annoying asked if the Pepsi on the tap was real brand Pepsi which it definitely wasn’t as it tasted like really cheap off brand Pepsi (didn’t offer bottles or cans). Portions significantly smaller than before and all the dinners weren’t up to standard. Table of 7 won’t be coming back unfortunately.

Recently had a family Sunday dinner and we cannot sing enough praise! Customer service was exceptional and nothing was too much of an ask! The food was brilliant and staff are really friendly! Just what this village needs,a pub at the heart of the community again.

Sooo impressed. Me and my friend had a 6ounce steak,chips,opinion rings. Peas and salad £12! Such great quality for the price. And the selection of food on the menu and drinks is impressive. Will deffo be back.

We visited this lovely pub today for lunch and what can I say Wow!!! Everything was amazing the food, Service and value for money was brilliant. Brian and Cheryl & their staff will give you a warm welcome. You can bring along your well behaved dog and eat in the comfortable lounge. Or if you don't have your fur baby with you you can go through to the restaurant. Regardless of where you sit, the food, welcome and menu are the same. A fabulous place for a meal for any occasion. 10 out of 10

Met at the High Corner for a family lunch and wasn't disappointed.Great choice of meals.There is a pick and mix option on the menu, where you can pick two items from the main menu, if you can't make your mind up.One of the party is a veggie and was very pleased with choices and quality of the meals. We visited the High Corner House on Xmas day for dinner costing £49.50per head. The starter was good and we were looking forward to enjoying a roast pork dinner for 2 of the party and a beef dinner for the third person. We had a considerable wait for the main course but that didn't cause us a problem. We did notice a large party seated at a table near to us with a considerable amount of food left on their plates. Nevertheless we were relishing the thought of our main course. Well. I am not normally lost for words but I couldn't describe the disappointment when it was placed before us. The hi had been sat on the plate for hours. It was the worst food I have ever been presented with and I fail to understand how the chef could have served it up for human consumption. It was only fit for the bin. We refused to pay the bill and in fairness, the landlord apologised for the whole sorry situation. My advice to anyone thinking of booking for Xmas Dinner? DON'T DO IT!!

We have been to this restaurant on several occasions, it is becoming our 'go to' place to eat when in the area. We have been for Sunday Lunch twice recently and another time during the week.For Sunday Lunch you have a choice of Pork, Beef or Turkey, with trimmings, roast potato, boiled potatoes and a selection of seasonal vegetables. It comes in two sizes, I always opt for the small size and find it plenty for me. For dessert I had, as usual, the Raspberry Roulade, which melts in your mouth.The service is always excellent, and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. I doubt it will be long before we visit again.

3 of us went for lunch yesterday to The High Corner. We have been several times before, and as always the service and food were excellent and great value for money.

We are no strangers to The High Corner for good and can highly recommend the food - we must have tried almost all on the Menu but mine is always the Steak and they never fail to deliver the most succulent steak ever - how the Cook gets it so right when countless of other Pubs, Restaurants get it so wrong amases me - such continuity of excellence. There is always a varied and interesting Specials Board and a fine Menu of Desserts. Well done High Corner - your staff are always so welcoming and its lovely to see Brian's face behind the bar - Sunday dinners are equally as good and very popular you are simply the best.

Have visited the High Corner Inn many times over the years and retured today after a four year absence. Sticky bar, sticky tables and an invasion of flies. Poor selection on the menu and seemingly disinterested staff. What was once a little gem serving a quality choice of food has slipped into the world of plastic menus. Where is the local produce? Lovely location, rustic old feeling to the building, please can the food, ale and service rise to the surroundings. There are lots of places in the surrounding areas which are offering far superior choices and service.

Visited with a party of 13. Lovely Sunday lunch with plenty of vegetables and ample gravy. Desserts were lovely too. Would definitely recommend Sunday lunch here.I have also visited during the week and the food is really good with a great menu.

Just left this pub ordered chicken courjons to start .was given wait for it 2 yes 2 chicken strips for £4.95 .advised manager i wasnt happy thought this charge was criminal .totally disregarded what i said eventhough i complained when he collected plates and then when i paid i also brought to his attention that he quite clearly lacks customer service as no applogy or offer of no charge . I have gone here quite alot in the past bit this will be the last time

We were there to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of my husband's brother and his wife. The service from start to finish was excellent and the staff very efficient and welcoming.

Amazing staff amazing food amazing atmosphere, was there for my grandsons 18th birthday meal, so impressed with everything. Even to the way the staff interacted with my 7 year old great gandson. There was several large parties there same time as us yet nobody was kept waiting. Very impressed with everything.

Have been here multiple times now, for regular food and for sunday dinner - we've never had a bad meal. The food is stunning, it has a very "home cooked" feel to it. The portions are large but there's a really handy option on most meals to go for a smaller version. To name specifics - the Sunday roast is wonderful (and plenty of gravy), the lasagne is good, and the sausage and chips was amazing but I think they've taken that off the menu unfortunately!

Visited around 12pm for lunch with my husband and got to say how nice it was, the service from the 2 waiters was quality! The food was lovely and we didn't have to wait long either, even the boss came out to speak to my husband who supports the same footy team as him! Worth a visit, lovely pint of bow too! My husband and I love the High Corner, we have been visiting for over 10 years and have never ever had a bad meal, the lunchtime menu, which we usual have is exceptional and I have had steaks just about everywhere but no one cooks a steak like they do at The High Corner, it is succulant, tasty and always cooked to my liking - all the trimmings and clean and refreshing surroundings and staff can't do enough for you - if there were 6 stars they deserve every one -

As I have said the bedrooms are basic but clean and are perfect for overnight stay.The hosts are very friendly and welcoming., the sheets clean and towels also clean.The bed seemed very hard but was quite comfortable and we slept well.Although the hotel is on a main road there was no traffic noise due to the double glazing.The breakfast was very good and plentiful and cooked to order by the landlord himself.We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I have the pleasure of eating at the High Corner regularly, last night being the latest. The food is always excellent, staff always friendly and atmosphere relaxed. I really can't understand the negative reviews on here; this is a lovely place to eat and great value for money.

Unpleasant to see Staff smoking outside the premises, unpleasant landlady.. huge place that could be so welcoming- would not return and definitely would not recommend. After reading other customer reviews I see I’m not the only one to have had a negative experience.

We visit this pub on a regular basis.The staff are helpful and attentive. The menu has a good range of choices and alternative smaller portions of the main dishes are available The food is well cooked and presented. Recommended.

They charged almost £350 for curled sandwiches and manky raw chicken for a funeral. Disgusting the poor widower was in such distress!

I was totally disgusted when i went to my aunties wake at these premises to see the measly amount of food that was set out for the wake, which had cost my uncle a staggering £350. It was totally unacceptable to charge that amount as thre could have only been about £50 worth of food set out if not less, when asked where the rest of the food was we were told that that was it.would recommend people to avoid this place .

On entering the premises instantly felt uncomfortable.. ordered a small.wine and cider came to £8.15!!!. I dont pay that much in cardiff.. a barman came to my side of the bar, looked me up and down which made me feel awkward. Ask if we could take our drinks outside to told yes followed the same man whispering to the bar maid, in which I made reference and asked it he was ok with that. Once outside we felt as if big brother was watching!! First the owner then an a bar man.. so we decided not to eat there but to head on down to the BRYNCAE ARMS, were drinks were £2.00 cheaper, staff were pleasant nice atmosphere, clean n fresh..

Ate here with my wife and son, good service good pub food large portions fair prices not sure what more you could want. This place isn't pretending to be something its not. We had a steak pie, fish and chips and a rack of ribs. They were as good as you get anywhere and the portion size was big enough without being silly. Will call in again

My wife and I called in to this local public house for lunch on a week day, Even though it was not very busy it took a long time before we received our drink's and the same with our meals, My wife's salmon was Luke warm the peas were cold and the new potatoes were hard in the middle? my gammon was ok the peas were cold and not the best meal I have tasted, The ambience of this restaurant was not the best and could do with improvement in my opinion.

We have visited this restaurant before but never for Sunday Lunch, what a pleasant surprise. The food was perfect. I had Roast Beef which was cooked just right, the gravy was really tasty and a good consistency, all the veg were cooked to perfection, we had cauliflower, cabbage, peas and carrots. It was served with boiled new potatoes, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. I struggled to finish mine, but was certainly not going to leave any, it was so nice. After chatting for a while my dinner had gone down enough for me to try a sweet. I had the Raspberry Pavlova - delicious, my niece and her husband both had the Selva Nera dessert, which looked and I was informed, tasted, stunning. The service was excellent, all the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. It has been a while since our last visit, so must make a note to visit again soon.

Visited The High Corner last night as another restaurant we visited was unable to accommodate us, maybe a lucky break. We had a short wait for a table but no drama, we had a drink whilst waiting and were then shown to our table. A very pleasant waitress took our order, I had chicken & bacon salad, hubby had sirloin steak which he said was perfect. Both meals were well presented, well cooked and tasty, couldn't fault them at all. We don't usually have a dessert but the menu looked too tempting so we both succumbed, I had strawberry roulade with ice cream (naughty but nice) and hubby enjoyed his chocolate gateau with cream.

I have to say that it's been a while since I enjoyed a meal out as much as I did with this one! Me and my girlfriend have been looking for a new place to eat and I am so glad that we chose the High Corner. We both had steak, I had scampi with mine and my girlfriend had chicken. They were amazing and it's so nice to find a place that knows how to cook a steak exactly as you ask for. This is a place we will visit again and again as it was lovely. We had an after-funeral 'wake' dinner at The High Corner House, and despite the number, we appreciated the very varied menu and the waitress service. Some of us had impressive starters; I opted for jalfrezi chicken curry, and when my meal came, it was served in huge and generous portions, with the tender chicken covered in the tantalising taste of the curry. The pint of Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker real ale went down a treat! Verdict: must go to The High Corner House again.

Called last minute for a sunday lunch and wow it was absolutely fab.You would not get any better. Plenty of food plus extras if you need them but would recommend the beef which was great
