The Longbow Beefeater in Rhondda Cynon Taf

First time going. Sat at the back of the restaurant next to the toilets… Waiter was a young lad - who frankly did not care about people’s order as he got older couple sat next to us wrong and mine and my partners. Food was bland and the chicken tasted fake! Massively over priced for poor quality meat. Drinks came spilled and flat! Won’t be returning…

Booked it last minute for 2 people, I must say it was an all round good experience. Greeted at the door, we arrived early but the manager accommodated us. They took our orders straight away and the drinks came immediately. Food was good quality. I recommend the 74 double burger! The staff are very friendly and professional. Will take my family back there again.

The chefs here can't cook, and the portions are abysmal. In addition there was an upper management meeting in here when I visited and they were arrogant and obnoxious. They shouldn't be allowed to talk to their staff the way they do, shameful and disrespectful.

Worse Sunday lunch ever Shocking , gravy was water , tasteless roast In fairness the young lady offered to change the dinners but it put us off and the waiting We are regulars there , love their steaks Should have had steaks

Walked in and was greeted. We went to our table. Ordered drinks. Then ordered food. Drinks were alright.. if the cocktails weren't buy one get one free then it's expensive. I went for mixed grill (£20).. it came out lame as hell... 4oz steak, 2 overcooked cold sausages, small chicken breast, gammon, 2 overcooked eggs and chips... I wanted a meat feast for 20 bucks and all I got was a lame meal... they didn't come and ask if everything was alright... not once through our meal so I couldn't tell them about the sausages.... if you want an average experience with average food at a higher price than other places then this place is for you! I won't be going back!

Worst food iv ever had the flat bread starter was a loaf 🍞 of bread and messed my order for my main so me and my family gave up on dessert £94 for a pile of slop ,,,, Stephen 👎

To be honest I didn’t get my hopes up, but……. I was very impressed. I had the Crunchy Chicken Burger and hubby had the Steak Sampler meal. The steaks were cooked perfectly and my burger was delicious. The servers, Abbi and Chris were so lovely, friendly and cheerful. They were busy but very attentive. Thank you too to the chefs who you can watch preparing your food. All in all 10/10 for the staff, food, clean restaurant!! Would recommend

Had a great stay on Sunday 22nd of December at the Premier Inn next door as usual . Made the mistake of going to the Longbow for breakfast the next morning. Been there before for breakfast and it is usually - just - ok for a Premier Inn breakfast. However this morning there was a sign on the door that there were some items out of stock, we should have turned back but didn't. When we went in and were seated, the staff didn't say anything but we then discovered that the coffee machine was broken so the only coffee available was hot water and the same Nescafe sachets as were in the hotel room. Was disappointed that we had not been told this on arrival as we would not have stayed. We did not complain - Yes, I know we should have!. We just had breakfast (with the poor coffee) and paid, left and went to Costa across the car park to get coffee. Disappointing.

Had a really enjoyable experience here today for Sunday lunch. Although busy, the service and quality of all the meals was excellent. The Manager was very friendly showing us to our table and getting us drinks. Our server Ffion looked after us really well. Service being very efficient, nothing was too much trouble for her and was very friendly. The starter of onion rings was very nice, mains were a filet steak cooked perfect as requested medium / rare. The beef dinners were also good alongside the desserts. We used a 50% discount off mains voucher which enabled a good saving from the bill.

Had excellent service from servers here. Food quick and tasty.

Great place for a meal very friendly staff

I had a 3 course festival meal prawn cocktail was ok not many prawn in it at all,chicken and ribs not a very big portion at all the chicken were dry than leather and the ribs didn’t taste that good at all was quite disappointed when I ended up spending £29+ didn’t end up in my third course / pudding I felt very disappointed at this point so didn’t get one and just pay for a two course at £29. For one person you will probably be better off going to Miller and Carter.

A very nice lunch, succulent chicken & tender ribs for main. A tasty starter of calamari too. Bottomless soft drinks served to table by a kindly waitress too. All came to some £51, 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 endless cokes, a coffee & 1 dessert. Have to say not the largest plate of food but was delicious nonetheless. Minor issue was that a knife was very dirty, still had former diners food on the blade. However it was changed without fuss & an apology made.

Always a great place to eat and very reasonably priced. Service by our server, Nicole, was fabulous. She was friendly, informal but very efficient. Thanks for another great night

As we were staying at the Premier Inn next door, we eat at The Longbow. This was the third night we eat there and was served by Lara. She was the only waitress that took our order and continued to make sure we were happy with the food by checking every so often. Many thanks Lara.

Fabulous experience lovley fish chips, steak flat bread and chicken dish. Service fantastic with Lara H. So friendly nothing to much trouble and was a very busy day .

I have had a few meals here. It is hit and miss. I had the turkey roast this time. It was really good and plenty of food on my plate. The staff are ready helpful. When it is busy, they are hard pushed to spend time. Be prepared to wait for your mains to arrive.

Went for Sunday dinner with family. Everyone who greeted or served us were so upbeat and lovely. Our main server was Laora who was very tentative and had a joke with us. The food came quickly, we all ordered the beef dinner (from the recent festive menu). It was hot, the beef was not tough, and the amount of food was plenty. Personally would like a bigger proportion of root vegetables but that is totally preference, and they included multiple sauces and gravy. The festive desserts were amazing (brownie and profiteroles). Reasonably priced for the food that we had. Lovely place, lovely vibes, would definitely go again. Thank you all!

The food was perfectly OK and just what you would expect, but I'm writing the review to compliment the staff, who were all extremely helpful and friendly.

Once again ,fantastic service and food . Daughter has allergies,and a 95 yr old fussy eater,but despite being busy ,the service and attention was spot on. Festive menu, a real value for money experience,well done the staff , defo be back next week.

This would of been our first visit in a long time to a Beefeater as the one locally had closed. As a couple we were really excited as for many year in the 90's and early 2000's we had visited the Watermill Iin Ogmore by Sea for special occasions including valentines day, anniversaries and birthday. We were directed to a table. The staff were attentive and polite. The food smelt amazing. This was our first time in a Beefeater for over a decade and we were unsure of the process. We sat at the table and my husband raised him arm to illustrate that we were ready to order. When the female middle aged server with blond hair came to our table after our drinks were delivered it was very apparent she very annoyed. Her demenour was hostile and negative to my Husband and I. Her persona wad negative and rude. My Husband asked if she was OK as she was being rude. The server answered I have been here since 12 and I'm not happy because I have been collared by you. My husband asked what the server meant and she referred to him raising his arm. My husband apologised however, her demenour remained negative and rude. I asked her to leave the table due to her rudeness and abrupt manner when she asked for my order. The Manager came over shortly after to offer apologise for her behaviour however, the experience was already ruined and I left without ordering any food. I appreciate that working in hospitality can be a demanding role and incredibly bust having worked in the industry myself for 4 years. However, basic politeness and communication are essential traits in this industry. Had thr server explained the expected process to us in a polite manner then I'm sure both her own and our experience would of been positive. I left the building upset which isn't except able. We cancelled our breakfast the next day and won't be returning.

Me and my mate had half a rack of ribs and chicken brest Ribs were lovely the children was a very thin slice the chips were horrible Our wives meals were ok 1 gammon and one Ribeye steak Won't go back in a hurry quite disappointed On a good note the Staff were helpful

Put by the toilets which was disgusting. Mushrooms in a crispy coating were completely full of water and tasted of slime. Given Haloumi slices as a replacement. Absolutely disgusting, only tasted of salt. This place has gone downhill rapidly.

Local to where we live but had the need to stay the night. Everything was first class.

I really like going to the The Longbow / Beefeater . Because it's just around 10-15 to get there from where I live. And the Food tastes great. another reason you might want to go there is if your not living in the area. And you are driving down to south Wales. You could stay in the Premier Inn which is just next door to the Beefeater. And the rooms are awesome. They are very clean and tidy and the staff are helpful and polite. If you are staying in the Premier Inn and and you fancy food but you don't want to go over to the Longbow Restaurant to eat. You can actually go over there to order your food and take it back to your room at the premier Inn. They have food and drinks menus in the Rooms. IF YOU DO END UP GOING HERE. I HOPE YOU ENJOY.

Visited here while working away, nice pub with friendly staff. Food was to a good standard and served quite quickly. Ate both in the restaurant and at the bar. Breakfast in the morning was also decent. Overall nice pub worth visiting.

Went here for a Sunday breakfast, to meet up with some friends, the breakfast was nice really good selection of cold and hot food, it was stocked up quite regularly the only thing that let it down was that there was only 1 coffee machine that kept running out of milk and tray that the coffee grinds in to kept filling quite quick as it was quite busy, but there was a boy on shift that Sunday whitch seemed as miserable as sin could just tell he didn't want to be there but every time the machine needed milk then he was the only one about really, but after I seen him empty the old coffe tray I knew how to do it so I did it a few times 🤫🤣 it was easier than asking someone to do it lol 🤣🤣

Shame the beefeaters are closing. I only had apple and berry crumble with custard and it was too die for ! Definitely have that again

Called here this morning for a quick coffee break whilst out walking (keeping our steps up) and just wanted to say we were served by the most lovely young man, I didn’t take his name but he was very tall with brown hair and a beard, he was really kind and so I wanted to leave a positive post for him, he deserves some recognition for being so helpful and pleasant.

It comes to something when the chef and staff do not know that a sweet potato and a potato come from different families

Great meal, great service, great menu

Have been to the Longbow Beefeater many times before after staying at the Premier Inn next door and always found the Longbow Beefeater to be lovely. Even more so this time, we were served by a gorgeous lad called Jordan and he looked after us both the other evening when we arrived and had a mean and this morning for Breakfast. Friendly and helpful chap, Jordan is a credit to the Longbow Beefeater - nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to coming back in December where we I hope to be served excellently by Jordan again.

Lovely experience, welcoming staff, rather busy on the weekends for breakfast so I suggest you book online as we have been turned away in the past because they have been fully booked

Friendly staff, great food and the place was clean and tidy. What more could you ask for?

Toaster was totally broken and staff didn’t seem to want to help at all. Forgot about the toast and went to get hot food to find out there were flies all over it. Told a member of staff and he simply tried to waft them away as if that was going to help. We all decided to leave which again, the staff didn’t seem to care about

Pretty standard for a beefeater. Air con was on too high unfortunately so we were a bit cold but the staff were very attentive and the food was good value.

Had a lovely afternoon last week at the Longbow Talbot Green. The service was brilliant with Ethan L. He was attentive and knowledgeable. He is definitely an asset to the team.

We had an enjoyable meal the food was great. However it made it not enjoyable With the temperature of the restaurant

Food Really disappointing, x 2 steaks very bland, dry and suspect they were microwaved. The steaks were done really quickly. Chicken wings no flavour. Kids meals equally as poor. Never been before, I can honestly say that for the price of the fillet steak (£22) it was the worst meal I've had. The tiniest pot of peppercorn sauce which didnt spread over my steak (and boy I really needed it to add flavour) They really have no excuse for food this bad as it was 21.30 and the restaurant was a quarter full on a Saturday evening so not really busy. Service was decent, a nice young polite waitress. Atmosphere is what you expect from a beefeater. I stayed in the Premier inn next door hence the visit. When I consider that I had an excellent steak from Miller and Carter for the same price I feel quite cheated lol. FYI, this is the first review I've ever posted, I don't consider myself fussy, this should give an idea of how disappointed I am. I noted that most of the diners returned to the Premier inn which is quite telling

Me and my sister were using the tap in the bathroom but we got soaked

Our server Jess was very attentive, with quick service and a smile. Our meals were hot and well presented. Ordered halloumi starters (hot and fresh) and a prawn cocktail plenty of prawns. 2 steak samplers and a chicken for mains. Again hot and fresh. All 6 steaks were cooked perfectly and full of flavour. 1st time in a long time to a beefeater but will be revisiting soon!

We were served by Russell tonight he was doing a few tables so we could see he was always busy but our drinks and water came a few minutes after we ordered them and he ask us a few times if we like any more drinks or water our meals came soon as he could and not a very long wait between each meal too . Russell was very polite and helpful

We popped in this evening, and clearly from the start you could see they are massively understaffed compared to outside school holidays. Only 1 bar man and the waiting staff frantically trying to take orders and clear tables. Although they were under so much pressure they were still very courteous, have to give Rhys a special shout out as he was so apologetic but also an amazing character to have working there Beefeater need to give this venue more staff as they are massively overstretched

It was lovely and clean, with quick service and a nice atmosphere. Our waitress was wonderful, a woman I believe was called Lara, though I may have the spelling wrong, was so attentive and helpful, we were grateful to have had her serving us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food apart from a small complaint about the steaks quality, though it was nowhere near enough of a bother to actually complain about. I definitely recommend it to those looking for an evening out for food that won’t turn out expensive.

Had a perfect meal here tonight first time we had been , no complaints about me wanting my fillet, and no phone number to talk to anyone steak well done , can't fault the meal, but when we looked at the bill when we had got home we had paid for cocktails we never drank any

Lovely setting and very busy for a Wednesday lunch time. 8oz Sirloin steak was good value at £12 on the lunch menu but nothing special. The salmon and rice was from the a la carte menu was very good.

Met a good friend for coffee.. Really nice atmosphere, great coffee and table service which was a lovely surprise We didn’t try the food although from what I saw, it looked nice and good portions

My sister and I stopped here for lunch after a shopping trip. Was served by the lovely Shaunagh who was attentive and cheerful without being too full on. We both had the haddock and chips with mushy peas which was delicious. The place was clean and atmosphere great. Only negative were the uncomfortable seats. Too deep to grasp to pull up to the table unless your arms are twice as long and the actual seat part only accommodates your bottom so you have the feeling of only perched instead of sat. Would still recommend as the food was excellent.

Booked a table for 6 last night for my daughters Birthday. Staff were amazing from start to finish- so friendly and helpful. The service was fantastic -Nicole (hope that's right) was brilliant. Couldn't ask for better. Everyone enjoyed the food and company. Will be visiting again. Thank you so much.

Sadly not impressed. Somewhat overpriced for what was served up. Presentation not great and the tomato was something of a scrap end. Definitely won't be rushing back.

We stayed at the Premier inn, and had all our meals at the beefeater. The restaurant was very nice , food was good , We were served by a lovely young man called Jordon, who always greeted us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for him, and I feel he is a credit to your company . We were in a party of 4 and travelled from Plymouth., and would definitely visit again.

Our meal was dealt with by Ethan with a smile and very helpful which made the evening for Father's Day very enjoyable. Thank you.

Usual Beefeater offering. Gets quite busy, so be prepared for that. Staff work hard to keep up. Food and premises as you’d expect. Worth booking ahead.
