Group of 7 friends visited Bert &Ernie's to celebrate a couple of BIG birthdays. Lovely bar stylishly decorated and comfortable. We had excellent service with delicious cocktails at very reasonable prices. Alex was the perfect host and the whole evening was very enjoyable and we all agreed we would definitely plan another visit soon 🍹

I visited this bar on a night out around 6 months or so ago and as soon as I walked through the door, we were told by the bar man that we had to leave, to this day I still have no idea what this was about but rest assured I will not be visiting again after this.

It was our first visit to the bar, and we were looking forward to watch the live singer, which was a bonus for a Sunday afternoon. However, it almost felt like I was sitting in someone’s front living room. Bar staff and their ‘friends’ behaved inappropriately as though they were working from their own kitchen and not a public place, serving customers. The bar woman constantly swore to customers, made jokes and it was extremely uncomfortable sitting amidst the chaos. The bar woman was loud and very overpowering! The bar itself is chic and decorated to a high standard however the bar woman and another lady who I’m presuming is the bar manager sat down with her leg plonked up against a chair and this didn’t quite meet the standards of the bar itself. Very disappointed to say the least. When you are out enjoying a drink you don’t want to be a part of the bar staff’s conversations with their friends etc however we were made to feel quite awkward. Our cocktails were served with absolutely no attention to detail. Fingers and thumbs all over the glasses. The red wine covered the outside of the glass, dripping down. I can firmly say unless there are new staff employed I would be very reluctant to go back. Drinks aren’t cheap and your faced with a very low calibre of staff which really DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF SUCH A STUNNING DECORATED BAR! Aberdare is very lucky to have such a fabulous bar however I don’t foresee this bar lasting long!! The singer was absolutely brilliant.. the only positive thing during our visit!

Awful atmosphere… made to feel very unwelcome! Cocktail was great, but didn’t enjoy it as felt rushed…… very few options “on tap” bar staff couldn’t care less whether you are there or not. Avoid if you want to enjoy your evening, best spend your hard earned elsewhere

Shame I have to give a star at all! Extremely rude ‘manager’ on duty with attitude. Abusive and aggressive messages sent to me after I dared to complain about her attitude and question the seemingly extortionate bill. I was then banned! I have never been spoken to and treated in such an appalling manner. Such childish behaviour and certainly not the way to run a hospitality business. Don’t believe all the positive reviews as they remove any negative comments where possible! Avoid at all costs.

Saturday lunchtime Sunday lunchtime no chance? 5ish opening and not at all on certain days. I like the place but it's never open, then you have the ongoing spat on FB. New manager needed desperately. Gone from one of my fave places to somewhere I'm sick of. Avoid at all costs, this place was just what Aberdare needed but they are doing a great job of doing themselves in.

This place is just what Aberdare needs. Love it keep the pints of Defender coming. I'd love to see a quality rum on the top shelf but other than that there a great selection of drinks and something different to the usual pints of Carling etc served up by every other pub.

Nice to see this fabulous bar open, if it is only 2 days a week. Far from the madding crowds, too! Lovely Lady on duty and well controlled under the present conditions All in all a pleasant place to unwind and forget about Covid 19! Lovely pint of Carlsberg too!

This place is a real asset to aberdare! A real cosy and friendly atmosphere day and night! In the day tea/coffee and cake and snack selection is divine and by night the cocktails are refreshing, fresh and to a high standard! Something aberdare has been missing! The decor is on point and bang on trend. Love going here and I hope the business continues to flourish.

What a fantastic little bar this is! My Wife and I were in on a Sunday afternoon and I had the most excellent draught Tuborg and my Wife's coffee was excellent . A nice place to avoid the crowds too!

Located in the Old Co-Op Bank, Bert and Ernie's is something that Aberdare has been crying out for. Whilst it's not cheap, B&E's provides excellent coffee and snacks, a wide range of wine sold by the glass and some decent beer. All round winner!!

Clean, stylish, friendly bar staff and great glassware, really refreshing interior, great for couples.

After our visit in November we decided to see how things had progressed. Sadly unable to try the wraps as they were out of stock for the basics, No cheese, ham, chicken. No wrap for me! Again it is a quirky measure for a tea to have a pot of hot water with a cup and the tea bag. But at least fill the pot to the top with water. Not half way again🤣 Sugar cubes are nice, but how about tongs ? Rather than watching people using their fingers and not the obligatory teaspoon.

Excellent service. Went for my birthday, the girls Megan and Linda were so friendly made us feel welcome.lovely atmosphere. Loved it.

Very nice new bar in the metropolis that is The Dare. Lovely atmosphere and great selection of gins. Would like a more ranging beer selection hence the 4 rather than 5 review. Is a little more pricey than the average pub in these parts but this is more than made up for by the atmosphere and vibe of the pub. I understand a restaurant is coming soon
