The menu was not as varied as what I had seen on the Internet. The kitchen seems to work separately from the bar. We were informed of a wait, which was fine. However, others came in after us and got seved before us. Our order was wrong and so was the table opposite. Actually, getting our hands on a menu was an achievement. Food is good when you get it. Needs team building to improve customer satisfaction. Speaking on behalf of 3 tables!

Wow! Increíble comienzo del día de las madres. Entorno precioso, cielo azul precioso.

We paid almost £70 to attend a ‘magical Christmas event’ in early December (2 adults and a toddler) and are still awaiting the refund we were promised but have been referred to an external company who helped facilitate the event despite me telling them not to pass my details on as I refused to consult another company on their behalf - the barn sold the event directly through themselves & their website. The event was sold as 5hrs with many things not there on the day - wishing tree, markets, the grinch, face painting (to name a few!). It’s also sold as 15 to a group, the place was absolute CARNAGE - very small barn with easy 100 or more people crammed in. The ‘elf passport control’ was an empty pasting bench with no one manning it & the staff were clueless at what was going on. They gave out patterned paper chains to identify who was where & they even confused themself - it was a free for all & after 40mins we left. The frozen show was embarrassing & we were summoned to it 4 times to fill a void - it was cheesy kids holiday music … oh and the Yuletide menu was chips and hotdogs, the card machine didn’t work & I waited 25mins for chips that I ended up walking away from.

Called in to buy a family fish n chip supper, served by a woman with very long and colourful acrylic nails, she either burnt or cut her finger whilst packing my order and proceeded to suck her finger not once but twice, no attempt made to wash her hands, my order was wrong and when I questioned what I'd been given the 2 woman serving argued black to white with me, so much for customer service, I'd suggest the woman with the nails also need a food hygiene course. Food was over priced for what we got and most of the chips were welded on to the paper wrapper. Won't be repeating the experience when I'm next in the area.

We spent a Monday afternoon in Ilminster. We were looking for homemade soup as the day was very cold. After delicious vegetable soup we ordered cream tea with tea and coffees. This lovely restaurant is to be found close to The Minster.

This is now "The Cobbles" - a little wine bar with great decor and cocktails - but sadly also a really pretentious and unwelcoming "maitre d" who doesn't smile, speaks to you like you are beneath him and rather than just graciously top up a cocktail when we felt the measure was a cm too low (not accounting for the cognac in the glass) chooses to go and get a measure, pour it of water and then wave it in your face. Unbelievable service - in stark stark contrast to the wonderful and welcoming Shambles in the Crooked House nearby, and the incredible A la Russe we had just come from (my birthday dinner - I had reserved a table at The Cobbles for cocktails after and they even knew it was a birthday). The worst service I have encountered in Windsor by a country mile. Such a shame.
