A warm welcome attentive service and excellent food as always. We have eaten here many times and the high standard of food and service has never let us down. Would highly recommend and also great value for money.

Family of 17 for my daughters' 40th. Food was delicious bit of a wait but to be expected with all the different choices but well worth it.

Was very disappointed. First of all we realised the hygiene scoring was a 1? That says there is a problem which has not been adhered or addressed. Food was ok, 2 roast pots each, service was good. No atmosphere. Never again and we are local. We took guests and they were not happy when they saw the rating, it was embarrassing for us as the quality was poor. We should have left. Place needs a good scrub.

Been riding round for 2 hours looking for some where to eat, found this pub, OMG, the food was lovely, the lady lady and land lord where so helpful, even took in our four dogs, we where made so welcome. Going back there before we go home

Friendly staff, excellent meal, reasonable price. Upper end price for pub food, but quality covers this. Portion size was large. Would recommend and return

Food was amazing! Lovely place for a decent home cooked meal, even the dog was made very welcome with a treat! I had Salmon, couldn’t fault it, my husband had pulled pork, he said it was fabulous! Garlic mushrooms were great and the roulade for pudding was delicious

This our second visiting 4 weeks, the first time we called for Sunday lunch and it was superb beautiful cooked and plentiful and all homemade with the best stuffing I've ever tasted. Second time was for a evening meal and once again it was delicious. Highly recommend and they staff very eager to please with excellent service. Look forward to the next visit as there is plenty of choice x

Not enough staff new ones training we didn't get asked if we wanted dessert dinner dishes still on table for about an hour after we finished had enough of waiting

The young waiter on his first night was lovely. The young man clearing our table was very polite. Our starters and main courses were delicious. However, waiting an hour and a half to have our table cleared after our main and no offer of a dessert menu was a bit disappointing. 3 hours for a meal means we won't return

Just enjoyed a super meal here. Hadn’t booked but made very welcome and sat at a table in the snug by a lovely log fire. Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent - great quality and very generous portions. Will definitely return.

We went to the Ffostrasol Arms today for a drink and upon entering were met with an abrupt older lady with short hair and glasses who quite clearly needs a lesson in manners and decorum! We ordered a drink and to be quite honest, were made to feel very unwelcome. Whether it was because we were outsiders to the area or because were tourists, I can't be sure. I suspect it was because we were English speaking as she was pointedly talking Welsh to a local in front of us. Either way, we felt very uncomfortable. We finished our drink and went as soon as possible. Avoid avoid whilst this lady is there. It is a shame as it's a nice venue with clean facilities and ample parking. We have been there in the evening on a different occasion and the staff were lovely but due to this poor experience today, we will not be visiting again.

It is local to us & have been there over a dozen times since we moved here two years ago. Friendly staff we have taken family & friends there. Lunch time & evenings always a good meal..

Visited the Ffostrasol Arms for the first time while visiting West Wales. I ordered the sea bass with vegetables and new potatoes, it came out pipping hot and a generous serving, it arrived just 15 minutes after placing the order. I couldn't fault this tasty dish, it was perfectly seasoned. I would recommend this pub to anyone . My partner was just as impressed with his Lamb shank. 10/10 Delicious.

Main course was disgusting, a few dried chips and a very small piece of wafer thin chicken. Supposed to be chicken and chips, nothing with it no peas or salad garnish. Chicken salad was served in a bowl, again a wafer thin slice of chicken...

Very dissapointed with the lunch. Who ever took our booking never wrote it down so when we got there we had to wait for a table, 2:30 they had already ran out of Turkey. The only vegi option was sausages, very very small portions only...

Not very welcoming, no one came to help us find our seat when we came in. Once seated and given a menu we waited for 30 minutes and no one came to see us, most waiters spent the majority of the time in the kitchen...

Ate there on the last night of our holiday ... had the lamb & mint pie with veg & roulade for pub ... not many in eating .. waitress lovely & very helpful & everyone so friendly ! Left completely ' stuffed' lovely meal .

Ordered a 1/2 & 1/2 veggie curry and it was very good. Recommended. Good choice of pub food. Also have had fish and chips - great portions.

Average pub with average foodWe booked a table for four, on showing up it looked like booking wasn’t necessary as we were told to sit ourselves where ever we liked.The waiter (a young male) was very knowledgable of the food menu. However we were told by a lady that the wine menu wasn’t up to date and it we wanted to know about the wine we should go to the bar.I ordered the mint and lamb pie, whilst it was nice, the gravy was very watery.It’s clear that this establishment isn’t following any social distancing rules as the tables where very close to each other, and large groups of people were together eating / drinking. Would I come back? Probably not.

26/08/2020 .Around 7:15pm myself and a mate walked in and asked are you doing food. "Yes" said the landlord "but it will be about an hours wait". "That's OK" we said and ordered a couple of drinks.(NO MENTION OF TAKING YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS FOR TRACK AND TRACE) Covid 19. We asked for some menus and were told if you sit down we will bring them over. We waited for about 40 minutes and had to ask again "Please can we have some menus". "Yes we will bring them now". .. .. .. Still no menus. Just over one hour has gone by now and we had to ask for a third time a waitress "Is there any chance we could look at a menu so we can order some food". as time is now going on! Menu finally turns up. ten minutes later order is taken around 8:25pm . Simple burger and chips x2 ... one with side salad and one with peas. Food that can be rustled up in no time at all. Orders some more drinks and we wait. Between 9:05-9:10pm we ask a waitress "Is our food coming" "Yes" said the waitress "It coming ( now )". Still no food .We waited and then the landlady came walking over to our corner ... thinking she was about to say something like an apology but said ... nothing , just picked up some empty's of the table next to us and walked away. I said to my mate if this food has not turned up by 9:30pm we are going to walk out. (We had not paid for the food upfront so no problems there.) Guess what , still no sign of food heading our way. We finished the drinks and got up and walked by the landlady and said "We are not waiting anymore". Her reply was .........."OK"........... That's it no apology or hang on and I will go and chase it up and find out whats going on but no just ........"OK" . We drove off and found a good Chinese takeaway and had a cracking meal else where. I don't no , . . . . . . maybe our accent just was not Welsh enough ? Never again !

Stopped off here on way back from a day out on the coast. We were a family of 10, the team at the arms could not have been more accommodating. Given a table straight away, very clean, excellent service. The food choice was great and all menu options explained. The food came quickly and was excellent.Fabulous food, great service and excellent value for money would highly recommend!

My friend and I came here for a catch up over a meal. We both chose the chicken curry which was delicious and came with home made chips. We also ordered onion rings which were homemade and tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive and meals were reasonably priced. We will most definitely come here again.

Service and presentation out of the top drawer. The fish was excellent and my only disappointment was that there was only one piece of raspberry roulade left which my friend ate. Well worth a visit.

Booked at the last minute, and they fitted us in. The atmosphere and the Xmas meal were lovely. Portion sizes were large, and the food well cooked.I couldn't fit in all 3 courses, but the desserts looked wonderful.We will definitely be back here again, most likely for next Xmas day dinner.Well done to all those who were involved in making/serving/washing up - everyone in the pub.Thankyou

17 of us from our local circuit training group. Our tables were in the conservatory and looked festive but not ' over the top'.The food was very tasty, with a good selection of veg.A few of the group had a vegetarian meal.All courses were served without a wait and at the right temperature. The staff were friendly and efficient. The toilets were modern and clean.The price was very reasonable. Infact we all had a lovely afternoon, which included our own quiz,which we could enjoy knowing that we weren't disturbing anyone else as we had the room to ourselves. Thank you to all the staff.

Called in recently for a family meal. I was disappointed last time perhaps they have a different chef now but the food was far better. Service was excellent.

We had a lovely supper here after a slight detour on our way back to Llangrannog from New Quay. Interesting menu with vegetarian and vegan choices. Delicious salmon steak and also Glamorgan crumble. Quiet spacious venue, helpful service. We will remember this venue for future visits to the area! Thank you.

Best sunday roast we have ever tasted. Lovely staff. Very very quick service. Plenty of if home cooked gorgeous food and you can ask for more. Beef very tender and you could cut it easy! Ask for a table in the new area... Very airy and light. Have been here many times and never been disappointed with the roast dinner. Best ever. Diolch

Having never stayed in the area I relied on google and trip advisor to prompt me as to where to eat. After a long day driving and working I just wanted a nice steak dinner.

Went for Sunday roast booked by our niece and nephew who had recently moved to the area. The pub had come highly recommended for the food and we were not disappointed.

Stopped here for a drink after a long walk with the dogs. Popped in and asked if they are dog friendly and mentioned we have Great Danes. The lady I spoke with said they were dog friendly. So went to the car to get the dogs only to be turned away as we walk back in because they are ‘too big’ as per the landlord. Why say your dog friendly when clearly you’re not. You wouldn’t turn a customer away for being too tall or too wide????

This hotel had been recommended for a meal with a warning that the portions were huge. They were not kidding..... The meals were first class and cooked from scratch and took ages to eat because they were so big. Now I'm hooked on the parsnip glamorgan crumble - not just one on the plate but two. Wonderful service and such a good selection of food for all. Wish I lived nearer so I could go regularly.

The people were friendly, but the place needs a facelift. One meal was as ordered, but friends came out of kitchen totally different! They ordered scampi and got sausages! No atmosphere, average pub grub at best.

Booked a Sunday lunch with some friends who were travelling through this part of Wales. Delighted with our experience. Pub really busy and buzzing with lots of diners. Lunch was served quickly and no frills. The roast beef was excellent - also the pork and turkey. Good selection of vegetable and top class home made puddings. Oh - and excellent value too.

Popped in for lunch. Nice warm greeting, shown to table, menu given, we had teas to drink, no problem. Good choice for vegetarians and for meat eaters too. Service was 1st class, food arrived piping hot (both courses). Not a busy place but I would recommend this little gem anytime. Will be going back this week for sure.

We went here for a Sunday lunch and the food was faultless. Hot and plenty of everything The only gripe was that there was only one vegan meal available and so no choice

I would have given 5 stars but we waited a very long time for our main meals to be taken away and offered dessert. After nearly an hour of waiting we had to ask at the bar for someone to come to our table.

Me and my partner had dinner here tonight. I had the dab of beef with mash it was so tender it just melted in your mouth it was delicious and my partner had the gammon which was very good. Would definitely recommend the food here

4 of us had dinner here last Friday. The food was superb - I had lamb shank which was so tender and tasty, my husband had Mediterranean cod which he thoroughly enjoyed. The service was friendly and efficient and I cannot find fault with anything. I can highly recommend the Ffostrasol Arms.

Love this place. Friendly locals, log fire, bar snacks and large restaurant. Staff have always been very friendly and make us feel welcome.

Was traveling up from Swansea to aberaeron last Sunday and thought Sunday lunch be nice, so rang the Ffostrasol arms to see if they could fit in 2 more for lunch,got there about 2 pm,was seated straight away, waiter took the order and within 15 mins the food was out, best Sunday lunch I’ve had for a while, did try Sunday lunch in the moody cow but everything seems to be covered in sugar or cinnamon, so won’t be going to moody cow again, tried it 3 times now and every time unimpressed,

Friendly family pub with good atmosphere and good food. We turned up on spec. It was busy but there was no problem finding us space. Steak was excellent and service was good and efficient. Would recommend.

Having never been to this town before, was lucky to have booked this pub for B&B.; Good beers & food, friendly staff & locals. Lucky with local parking, which could be tricky as there is no pub car park.Small but interesting town. Worth a visit.

Lovely meal, well cooked, helpful staff. Everyone enjoyed their food, including the 2 children. As always a good plate full, you won't go away feeling hungry

After waiting and waiting and waiting in the moody cow got a little fed up and decided to go further up the road and try here, they were serving food until 9 pm which was good as it was coming up 2 8.15, as soon as we walked in we were seated straight away, ordered drinks and the waitress came and took our orders. I ordered the sea bass and it was the nicest sea bass I have ever had and sause it came in was lush also ordered extra vegetables and they were also cooked to perfection, I have a holiday home in aberaeron and will definitely be making sure I book in the ffostrassol arms when I am down there again, and with lots to choose from on the menu you are guaranteed a great meal there,would definitely recommend to others

Pre-ordered meals for 22 people. Roast chicken was too dry, many could not be eaten. Beef lasagne hard and not edible, scampi fair, pork ribs one person complained twice of meat being incorrectly cooked, too dangerous to eat. Lamb shanks swimming in juice/gravy bowls of peas served at a later stage. Chips dry and cold not appetising. The whole evenings experience was a complete disappointment.

After waiting 40 minutes for our food (we were informed on the wait (there was a huge party/tour in the conservatory), it was totally worth it. I had steak and my boyfriend had a mixed grill, both cooked to our preferences perfectly.

My husband and I went for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago with some friends who often go there. The roast beef was melt in your mouth and a very generous portion. There was a nice selection (and plenty) of vegetables. Only one roast potato which was the only downside as I love my roasters but lots of mash.I don't often enjoy a roast dinner out as I do a very nice one myself but this was one place I would go again for Sunday lunch.

Went for family meal. Perhaps i was just unlucky as everone else who didnt have steak had a nice well presented meal, The steaks and mixed grill were cremated, looked like they had been deep fried in black oil. Deserts were in pre frozen plastic cups inserted into glass dishes. Not very sophisticated! Service was good but slow.

I am local, but have many nice pubs to choose from but always go to the Arms cause you know you will get a cosy fire and warm service. The pints are always fresh and food is tasty. Love to treat myself to the home cut chunky chips and the lamb shank is good too. Betty and Arthur are a lovely lively couple who try to say hi to all their guests it’s so welcoming, the golden touch that is missing in a lot of places. Worth a visit.

We have often driven past this place and were quite impressed with the car park being always full ! So today we decided to give it a try :-/ . At first we thought we would not get a table as the carpark was as full as usual . When we entered to a big open plan and a decor that made us think it was part of a chain of pubs ,on reflection we should have left then !! And to our surprise there were only six customers there in total !! But now we were in and hungry we ordered. Garlic bread as a starter which took ages to arrive but when it did it was the kind you can buy ready made in a or the frozen type in a Supermarket!! The salad garnish was very impressive.

The service is good an friendly, we have eaten in the bar, by the fire and in the restaurant. The bar is dog friendly and on the whole we preferred the cosiness of the bar (especially in Winter) Food has been consistently good, I enjoyed...

After I had sorted out the seating arrangements, having established that there were sufficient tables in the main bar dining area.........it being a bit more inviting than the sparse cold cafeteria looking outer room pre set for us at a lonely round table..... we were efficiently attended to by a young waiter and a young waitress who were well rewarded for their efforts....and overall the meals were fine....apart from a few wrongly charged hiccups at the till the overall group opinion was satisfactory

We visited here on Saturday 9 September for a family get together, total of 9 people, upon arrival we were ushered to what can only be described as a function room that was quite clearly not in use that evening so we were in a virtually empty uninviting space.

Well what can I say, we have visited on several occasions and had excellent food and service but not since the refurbishment and we have kept saying we must visit so when one of our Birthdays cropped up we decided we would book a table. We booked the table on Thursday for Friday, yes short notice but we were assured that there was no problem. We arrived to find the car park rather full but found a space so no problem. We ordered our drinks and were taken to a table which was dirty and full of the last peoples dirty plate. It was at this point we realised that there was a wedding reception taking place. We ordered our food, although everything said home cooked even the chips, those chips had never seen home cooked in a month of Sunday's. We waited and waited until at last our so called food arrived of which most was left. I do not expect food like I can cook at home but I do expect food that I can eat. The service was next to none (and I do not mean that in the good tense) with what I believe was the manager not even making eye contact let alone coming over and talking to us when he clearly knew there was a problem. Surely you know on a Thursday that you have a wedding reception on a Friday, do you not think that it is common decency to inform people who phone to book a table to let them know and for them to decide if they still wish to book the table. We spent our entire time with you not able to say a word to each other across the table as the noise from the music and people was so high you could not hear yourself think. Please, in future inform your customers of what is happening on the night they book their table so they can make their own minds up on where to come or not and have no cause for complaint.

We have been here on numerous occasions. Our last visit was the usual high quality food with impeccable service, we must mention Mike who always looks after us, he is a gem at his job.

We came for early Father's Day meal this on Saturday night the place very full with also private parties but yet this didn't disturb our meal & the meals we all ordered can put on time & excellent service and value for money. This has very good spacious parking very good for coach parties.
