Lochside House Hotel in East Ayrshire

We had the light and full breakfast. Both of us really enjoyed and found the portion sizes perfect. I had an iced coffee that wasn’t the best, maybe too watery but didn’t ruin the experience. Such a lovely view on to the grounds aswell. Our waiter had good banter aswell

Went for a family wedding. Staff were absolutely amazing, especially with my 2 kids as I was really struggling alone with both of them and a lot of the staff were so kind with them and towards me as well and helped out alot. They made the wedding that bit easier so thank you guys

A very nice setting. Good views from the restaurant. There was a varied menu offering something for everyone. A lot of good quality local produce. The best meal I have had for quite a long time. The service was also good with friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant was recommended to us and certainly did not disappoint.

Great food and lovely staff, but noticed the pre covid table arrangement in the Afton restaurant has returned. One server called them the "greedy tables", lined up in the middle of an already busy area. Management trying to cram in more diners, now looking like a cafe, no privacy whilst chatting to your table guests, and cant help but overhear others conversations from their tables. The servers having to weave in and around chairs carrying food etc, hopefully management have a rethink.

Had a wonderful lunch here. I am a coeliac with additional dietary requirements. Chef consulted with me and prepared a lovely lunch for me that could not be faulted. Enjoyed it so much we have booked to return for a stay

Visited for dinner with my husband. An absolutely lovely meal. Seated promptly and good service throughout the meal. Lovely views. Highly recommend the goats cheese tempura - absolutely delicious. Would return for further meals. Good parking onsite too.

Visited for lunch, very nice surroundings including decor within hotel and views of surrounding countryside, all staff very attentive & efficient in taking orders and enquiring if we required anything. Good varied choice on menu, food was top quality including presentation, good value for money. Well worth a visit. We shall return …

Visited recently for a beautiful wedding. This is where the hotel scores highly the setting, the staff, the food and the service where all spot on. The rooms too were very nice and modern and just what you needed for a wee overnight. Breakfast in the morning was also lovely and plenty of choice. However the rating went down a bit due to the issue of wedding guests not getting access to rooms earlier. Wedding started at 1pm so we phoned ahead of time to ask if our room would be ready for arrival around 1pm. They advised the previous occupants were out and room currently being cleaned so should be ready this was around 11am Great!! So as we had 1.5 hour drive ahead in the heat decided to drive down in casual clothes - hair and make up done so just a quick change in room on arrival and down for wedding starting. However checked in at 12.30 and room not ready!! Advised we had phoned ahead first to check, the only option they could give us was getting ready in disabled toilets!! Which was a bit galling when had paid £140 for a room lying empty just for a quick change. They need to rethink this model for wedding guests and have attendees rooms ready as a priority or a small charge for early check in especially for people travelling distances, need to freshen up or in our case actually get dressed! Apart from this issue I would definitely visit again!

Was a guest here recently for a wedding and was shocked by poor quality of vegetarian food. Was served “vegetable stir fry” as a main which was essential just a bowl of noodles covered with salty soy sauce and some onions served with a piece of garlic bread. Nobody wants to be served bland, salty noodles at a wedding in Scotland and garlic bread and noodles do not go together! Pudding was fruit salad and sorbet which was exactly the same as the melon and sorbet I was served as a starter. It’s not difficult to make tasty, appetising vegetarian food with all of the amazing fresh produce in Scotland. Left with impression hotel did not care about trying to cater for anyone with a dietary requirement, even one as mainstream as being a vegetarian.

Dreadful they offered me the same starter and pudding as sorbet that I don’t like some soya sauce and veg with noddles for dinner never again

Ate here at the start of the week with friends. We were all excited to see the changes made to the Hotel and Restaurant and we weren’t disappointed, the work carried out during lockdown has been amazing! I don’t think there will be many Hotel’s and Restaurants in Scotland with a better setting than Lochside Hotel, without a doubt. Anyway, a Restaurant is probably best judged on its food. Me personally, I really liked the haggis bonbons I had to start with. The main course, chicken tikka masala wasn’t great, the chicken was dry and the rice a bit rubbery. One of our friends had it as well and he thought the same. Also, the service was very good but maybe a tad on the slow side. We would probably go back to Lochside, it was always a favourite of ours. But, I would rather talk about how good the food was next time, rather than talking about how beautiful it is inside and outside the building.

Booked a deluxe suite , got the cygnot room , lovely big room but very very dark & , furniture chipped & the balcony was filthy with cigarette buts & cork bottles & cobwebs , was supposed 2 stay 2 nights … 1 was more than enough . We where offered a different room but this was supposed to be a deluxe room ?

Ate there last week with our family from Prestwick and we were completely blown away with the quality of the food and the service that we received. We couldn't help noticing that the staff were sticking to the Cov'd guidelines, tables, seating and even the condiments were cleaned as soon as guests left the tables. Whilst we were having lunch we couldn't help noticing people sitting outside having Afternoon Tea with a bottle of Prosecco, they were served with that much food they were having to take some of the cakes and scones home with them in boxes provided by the hotel, we will certainly give the afternoon tea a try in the future. Many thanks to all concerned for making it such a great visit, we will definitely recommend Lochside House to friends and family.

What a fabulous hotel this is, it never fails to impress. The restaurant has had a total makeover during lockdown, and could not believe the changes made in all our years of visiting. Welcomed by the always cheery Stephen, the restaurant manager, this guy goes above and beyond to ensure your visit is enjoyed. The new table layout is welcomed too, before, I felt they were too close, and all could hear one anothers conversations, plenty space now. Beautiful views from the windows, stunning decor, and fabulous food and service. Plans afoot to add more lodges around the grounds, this place must have one of the most beautiful settings in Scotland, oh, big shout out to our server Leah, thank you lass, for looking after us.

After a holiday abroad was cancelled my husband and I decided to arrange a staycation for a week, based on our previous experience of the radstone hotels and recommendations from friends we decided to book a week staying at 3 of their hotels hetland hall , the Carlton and lochside . I’m unable to write a review for the group as a whole but I’m hoping my review of the lochside will give you a flavour of a consistently high level of comfort and service that we experienced throughout our stays. Although as mentioned everything was to a high standard across the 3 hotels we stayed in the jewel in the crown is by far the lochside. From arrival to departure the overall experience was amazing we where lucky enough to stay in a garden suite and with the unusually warm weather we experienced in September we where glad of it the room was spacious , immaculately clean and the opportunity to relax on your patio and enjoy the sun added to a relaxing stay, the overall layout of the hotel is impressive and you can tell they have thought hard about not compromising on atmosphere yet adhering to the social distancing measures the bar and surrounding balcony was comfortable and inviting and staff where on hand to cater for everything you would need. We where able to use the spa for treatments also and whilst we where unable to use the spa pool this didn’t detract from a great experience and relaxing afternoon, the attention to detail with smoothies and strawberries in their chill out rooms added that extra sparkle to a luxurious treatment and I would highly recommend. safety was evident throughout with all relevant COVID measures in place that made us feel comfortable throughout our time in the spa. The surroundings of the hotel make for beautiful walks and you could see the staff tirelessly cleaning the hotel throughout our stay . I must add this was the same in the other 2 radstone hotels we stayed in and had no fault in the cleanliness of all hotels. Now on to the food , whilst each hotel had an amazing variety of food the lochside meals absolutely stood out for us and you can tell that the quality of food is high along with immaculate presentation. We stayed on a package where dinner was included but the list of choice was large and varied and cooked to an impeccable standard . at the lochside the plates where attractive to look at but did not compromise on portion size and by dessert it was definitely a struggle but one we overcame as these dishes where far too good to miss. It’s probably at this point I highlight their afternoon tea everything again was delicious a good balance of sweet versus savoury and everything tasted freshly made ( a treat not to be missed you won’t be disappointed!!) due to unforeseen circumstances my review is late but one that I felt needed to be written to let you all know about a fantastic chain of hotels, amazing and welcoming staff and food you will return to enjoy again and again, based on continued travel restrictions if your thinking of a staycation this year i can’t rate these hotels highly enough each one had a Reason to visit again from the facilities the food and the locations and you can also get a loyalty card to earn point to put towards future stays accumulated on stays and food purchased which is a nice touch and a recognition to repeat customers. Overall we had a wonderful stay in all three hotels and we can’t wait till lockdown ends to visit them again we’ll done radstone group as far as we are concerned you smashed it 🙌🙌🙌

Treated the wife to a well earned Lunch so I suggested the Lochside as I’ve never been before it’s on the left hand side as you drive past Cumnock down a small road once you go over the railway bridge the view is stunning what a setting had booked plenty sanitiser around shown to table all staff very polite the wife had Cajun Crepe and I chose the Slow cooked braised beef which was cooked to perfection the wife’s was amazing as well followed it with coffee Food -Service 10/10 With a pint and a 0%Beer Bill was £22.83 because of the eat out scheme we will be back

Visited during summer holidays and was totally disgusted with the state of the hotel during this pandemic may I say, the service was terrible the food was average and the toilets and surrounding areas were dirty, I was totally disgusted with the toilets they obviously hadn’t been cleaned or checked for hours or even days as the floor had been soiled and foot prints were all over floor, the toilet paper was scattered everywhere the basins were dirty & there were hand prints everywhere, a 4-5 star hotel, more like a 2 star !!! In this current climate a hotel like this should be checked and cleaned every hour , all I saw was one little sanitizer. The staff were very young and unprofessional and reception wasn’t the best help either, needless to say I won’t return to this place which is such a shame as it has a lovely setting with beautiful scenery 👎🏻

Booked the creoch suite for the view as special treat, when arrived their doing work on hotel and were not told this and view totally obscured However hotel manager very helpful and we came to an agreement. Room was lovely, shower bit small bed comfy. Food in restaurant from breakfast afternoon tea and dinners all delicious, lovely cocktails. Golf course not the best. Was lovely to get massage in spa really good pressure sadly pool and spa facility’s not open yet. All staff wore masks but the Afton restaurant closed and serving in the wedding room part was ok but missed the views. We’re not told of this change either. Hotel staff all very helpful, very clean and all covid measures followed. Would recommend.

Given a voucher for tea for two as a present. Excellent presentation. Quality of food also excellent. Refills of coffee and tea if required.

We visited on Christmas Eve for a family lunch and had the festive menu. The food was delicious and well presented and the service was friendly and efficient. The location is lovely and the reception area was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Highly recommended.

My best friend and I decided to get away for our joint birthday celebrations, and chose the Lochside House Hotel, where we relaxed in the restaurant, enjoyed a wonderful meal, and had a fabulously comfy night's sleep in their huge, luxurious beds (which were so comfy that we decided to lounge in bed a little longer, rather than use the spa the next morning!)The General Manager (I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I've forgotten her name, I'm so sorry!) was passing us as we stopped to look at the wedding photo albums behind reception; she stopped to say hello to us and enquired about the comfort of our stay. We all spoke for a little time about the hotel, about weddings, and it was lovely to have an interaction with someone so passionate about their job (this is a recurring theme with Lochside staff; they're all friendly yet professional, and each interaction brightened up our day or evening).We look forward to returning to the Lochside, as we had such a relaxing and welcoming experience there; many thanks again to the staff!

Only one word can sum up the service, price, and quality of food "fantastic". On arrival we were shown to a table by the window with lovely views of the hotel grounds & loch. After ordering our meal, we were told it could be 10-15 mins for our meal owing to how busy they were, but we were offered bread & butter to help ease the hunger. (very nice gesture) We were not to be disappointed with our meals or the HUGE portions we received. Brilliant meal & fantastic service. Thanks

We had a lovely meal here as we were staying nearby. The staff were so kind and welcoming, especially to our children who got high chairs, crayons etc. The decor is modern, and tasteful. The toilets feel brand new, very luxurious - they are pristine! I had the braised beef with Yorkshire pudding and my Husband had a burger, both were lovely. The service was fabulous, I could not fault it. Very good value too. The view over the Loch is absolutely beautiful too, and we enjoyed seeing the wedding party.

We had lunch, service was good and the food was fine but it was expensive for what it was. Drinks expensive especially for kids - my son had milk and would have been cheaper having lager!Dressing on salad was nice but salmon was a bit over cooked and cream sauce had been under the hot lights too long and had unattractively solidified on top. Battered fish tasted fresh, but chips were a bit dry. Puddings were nearly ruined by the aerosol cream served with each one - if I found myself eating there again I'd ask them to hold the cream.Ayrshire has some great places to eat - the standard of food is high overall and the Lochside didn't quite meet it on the day we visited.

Absolutely superb in every respect.Booked only 1 hour in advance for 3pm, thought restaurant would be empty but was well filled with many others enjoying amazing sandwiches, fancies and scones all beautifully presented on stylish afternoon tea tier stands.There was a wedding going on in full flow but it had absolutely no impact on our experience.Staff were all without exception professional, welcoming, engaging, friendly and attentive but not fussy.Food was brought within 10-15 minutes, tea and coffee refilled without us needing to ask. All food of a very high quality - would not be out of place in Michelin starred restaurants that serve afternoon tea, and yes we have been to those. And great offer price of 2 afternoon teas and 2 glasses of fizz for £30 all in. Restaurant, plush, stylish, modern and comfortable, nothing at all was anywhere remotely tired. Toilets very stylish, modern and clean, despite also catering for the separate wedding. Can't see any reason for some of the less positive comments in other reviews, absolutely nothing but praise from us. Was recommended by the owner of the local property in Sanquhar we were staying in and we will definitely return.Thanks to everyone concerned - was a brilliant experience and your staff should be very proud.

Great place for a good meal. The staff were really friendly and managed to fit us in without issue two night without booking. The location is lovely by the loch. The food was good, tasty, lots of choice and nicely presented but not quite top star. Generally well priced but our steak was not the best for the £22-odd paid.

Was at a wedding and the day went great.Food was great so my hat comes off to the resort for that. Drink prices are high but you come to expect that from resorts ripping folk off. BUT the side room where the guests wait before getting seated for meal is very tired. Carpet is ripped and the seating is dated.The hotel rooms were large. I had a family room and they had 2 travel cots which was a nice touch. Again there is a BUT.... The bathroom floor tiles were cracked and moving and the bathroom was very tired and dated. Management can you sort out the heating. Its June and the heating is on making the rooms unbelievably uncomfortable and that's with the windows open.Overall it is in a lovely location. The food was great and wedding was great BUT the price you pay for a room is very expensive and not worth it

After eventually getting menus we waited more than 30 minutes for order to be taken then we were told the food would take a while as they were busy and it did!!

So you spend a lot of money renting a luxury lodge with your friends and then you find out that the hotel group are more interested in servicing* wedding groups than the people staying in the lodges service was absolutely appalling waiting ages for food table of 12 served in cribs and drabs. Staff gave the impression that they really couldn’t be bothered some dishes were cold took ages for the table to be served when people started to complain the staff decided the best thing to do was to keep us waiting longer asked to speak to the restaurant manager and was told there was no point because the6 would speak to complainers will never return overpriced for the lodges and an atrocious experience

We went to Lochside, Afton Restaurant for a family meal to celebrate my dads birthday, having been here before on a number of occasions.

I attended my Son's wedding last Fri 19/10/2018. The venue is set in stunning location. The rooms were spacious and the staff could not do anymore to please all of the guests particularly Nicola the Chef who sent out the tastiest meals for dinner and buffet, melt in the mouth delicious. Everyone said the food was lovely and my Mother inLaw was given a couple of portions of soup to take back home to York.Nicol,come cook my Christmes dinner. Thank you all for an amazing day.

My husband & I ordered soup & sandwich, the soup was onion which was extremely sweet & I couldn't have it, the sandwiches were supposed to be ham, cheese & pickle white bread. When they arrived the bread was brown bread & were in actual fact pickle sandwiches with a little bit of ham. My husband had his changed, came back with a small quantity of cheese added. I had to go ahead & eat my sandwich due to a health issue, Horrible lunch. Made even more horrible by the fact that once home I was told 3 soups charged £13.50. When our 2 soups should have been £2 each as that was on menu to have a sandwich & add soup. 1st & last visit.

We are staying in one of the lodges of the hotel but went into the hotel for a drink last night it is really nice and we were told if you are staying in the lodges you can use the spa between 7-9 am and again in the evening

Not exactly halfway between Glasgow and Dumfries but nice to meet up for lunch.

Our niece has booked this venue for her wedding and invited me to lunch so I could see the location. Wow, what a beautiful location, stunning scenery and so peaceful. We had lunch in the Afton Restaurant and opted for the 2 courses for £12.95 (we dined on a Friday, its £11.95 Monday to Thursday). Super value. I opted for the Steak Burger - 6oz burger with applewood smoked cheddar and bacon. My niece and sister in law chose the Chicken, Leek and Pancetta Crepe which is served with fries. All our mains were delicious and I must say it was a seriously good burger. For dessert we all opted for the cheesecake of the day which was tablet. Very nice. We rounded off our lunch with some coffees and a sneaky peak of a wedding party getting some photos taken. Lovely afternoon. I am looking forward to coming back again before the big event.

The staff and guides at Dumfries House provided excellent service at a recent wedding we attended. Lovely venue in the tapestry room for the nuptials and a spacious substantial marquee for the reception. Many of us had a guided tour around the house while the photographs were being taken. A fantastic day.

On this extremely busy afternoon the service managed to remain polite and obliging but it was painfully slow. The sandwiches and tea were nice but the scones were old and dry. All the sweetmeats were pretty pedestrian - only OK if you like squirty cream and lashings of sugar.

we were there for lunch on a Sunday, it was very busy, the service was friendly and helpful, the food was good but took its time, we also had to send 2 of the starters back as they were cold in the middle. this matter was dealt with and we enjoyed the rest of meal and we were impressed with the facilities for the wedding and the venue as a whole the setting is fantastic.

Wedding guest . Advised we could book in at 11.30 therefore postponed getting ready for the wedding until we had checked in and been allocated a room. We saw every other resident guest be allocated a room before us, even guests who he not yet arrived ! At 1.30 my husband asked at reception for an update on our room. After going to the back of an amount of cards he was told our room was ready ! Suffice to say our preparation for the wedding and subsequent night's stay was both hurried and stressful. We arrived for the 3pm Wedding just in the nick of time...the wedding procession was just about to start !

Been on a number of occasions as a couple, family and for a works night out, the food and service is always excellent, well recommended

With everyone else in the house out for the night, there was just my eldest grandson and me at home. Neither of us fancied cooking, or a take-away, so, he offered to treat me to a meal at Lochside House Hotel's Afton Restaurant..

Lovely hotel, had a great time! Nice buffet! Although we didn't stay in it we saw the honeymoon suite and it was lovely, dark and moody (clearly interior designed) with lounge area, balcony, and massive tub (more like a swimming pool). Husband said it was the ideal place to take a mistress lol ;)

Me viene a la prosiga hacia Hotel sobre una base regular - de Dumfries. Amigos y familiares, a todos les encanta el entorno y que generalmente no están decepcionados. En un par de ocasiones el servicio ha sido muy lento, pero es generalmente muy bueno. La calidad de la comida es muy buena y siempre caliente. Yo estaba allí hoy, con la familia y disfrutamos de nuestra comida. Excelente servicio de camareras muy agradables que nos vienen reconoce que a menudo. Sin embargo, tanto la semana pasada y hoy, nos hemos dado cuenta hay un nuevo camarero (él puede ser senior) que no es de el calibre de otro personal, bastante desagradable de una forma hostil. Una pena tener como una persona que muestra una actitud negativa. No disuade a ser un cliente regular, pero espero que él reconoce su hacedlo y procura mejorar su actitud mientras trabajaba en este maravilloso entorno.

El dueño de un local y ser reservado este lugar para nosotros, dijo que no lo decepcionará, era tal como se describe, y hizo mucho mejor por una noche preciosa veranos.

Este es normalmente uno de mis lugares favoritos para comer fuera, pero en esta ocasión estaba extremadamente decepcionado. Mesas alrededor de nosotros llegando a ser servido y saliendo y ni siquiera tenía el primer plato. Pedimos una jarra de agua para la mesa, esperando que eso. Creo que el hotel había tomado demasiado, para el personal. Nos sentamos en 1 - 15 y a la izquierda después de las 16:00 horas, creo que ha estado cerca de dos horas de sentarse a coger el plato principal. Nos preguntó si nos gustaría desiertos a lo que contestamos que sí, después de veinte minutos tuvimos que perseguir el menú!

Nos alojamos aquí 2 de junio de principio a fin no me puedo quejar de nada, Molly en la recepción fue muy servicial, incluso con todas las preguntas que tenía! La comida era excelente y fui a la Noche tributo a Elvis y tenía una gran noche conocimos a una gente encantadora. Comida llegó rápidamente y fue precioso. Tratamientos de spa y baños termales justo lo que necesitábamos.

We have been to the Lochside many times and have also stayed here. We met for a family lunch last week and once again really enjoyed our meal. The food was beautifully presented and the helpings were generous. The only issue was the amount of time we had to wait for our main course. After 40 minutes we had to ask a member of staff if there was a reason for the delay. The food eventually arrived but we had another long wait for the dessert. Although we really like the food and the staff are also great service time really needs to be improved.

Arrived and found our own way to restaurant. Stood and waited about 5 minutes (a queue had formed behind us), finally someone arrived and showed us to outpr very dark table. Air conditioning was like ice coming down and we were all shivering, asked to be moved but told no they advised they would switch it off which they did. After ordering took quite a while for starter to arrive then an age to take dirty plate away. Waited another long time for mains to arrive (which were very nice), again a long wait for desserts. No one came near to ask if we wanted drinks or anything and felt totally invisible throughout our visit. The service was extremely slow and very impersonal, they just couldn't care less about you. Although the food was lovely we would not return due to poor service.

Fantastic place to visit, we had overnight stay DBB with afternoon tea added on. Beautiful surroundings, fabulous food very friendly helpful staff. Can't wait to go back

Visited recently and had a lovely lunch . Loads of choice from fancy a la carte to sandwiches. Also have a special menu at competitive prices. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone . Surroundings are beautiful , staff very helpful andcertainly something for every budget

Had heard so much about this place. And it was all good. The grounds are beautiful picture perfect in fact I must say I was very disappointed in the service we sat for ages waiting to order then all our order did not come at the same time. Mine was just warm when I got it. At the end of our meal we sat with dishes in front of us for at least 15 minutes before they were cleared. Not once did someone come by and ask how our meal was. Dessert took forever to order. It was well presented when it arrived. Maybe my expectations were to high as I had heard so many good things.

1st the meal was lovely, well presented and enough of it and tasted just fine. We all agreed on that one.Now for the punchline and boy it was just that ! A family night , and maybe it's just ourselves, but we believed that family was the "adult family" "grown ups" etc after all it's a new year celebration. It transpired that the whole event was catered around the kids for which I would have guessed we're about 30 ranging from birth to 12. A magician , associated show etc up until after 2200 and he too was the DJ !! I wonder where the children were meant to go, do after 2200hrs ??I would guess that about 1/3 guests had left BEFORE 2230 and we too had to concede and leave as it was so bad and with hindsight a WASTE of £50 EACH. I would imagine at that rate there maybe would have been only 1/3 total left for the bells , if that ?I have never been to such an event where I have seen so many bored adults inc ourselves.How such a lovely place could get it so wrong is beyond me. They should make it quite clear that when they mean family they mean "children" and that the event is not for an adult themed night out. Oh and get a compare/DJ to present not a children's entertainer.BIG failure but we live and learn Lochside.

Views from the hotel restaurant are super. Service is very good with friendly staff. The hotel is beautiful and stylish. My wife and I have always enjoyed our visits here and have never been disappointed.

I have used this hotel for dining many times over 10 years and in the last 3 visits I have found some issues that are disappointing . The last visit was on the 12th December 2016.Good points are as always a great location AND GREAT SERVICE and not to be missed. Very friendly staff and a comfortable dinning roomBad points . I would seriously suggest that they review their method pf presenting a bill after the meal/services. If you are in a large or small group of people the bill is very difficult to read as discounted area are lost in the receipt and should be set out clearer on what was purchased . The meals are good in general but lately very disappointing in the quantity in particular the main course , it was small enough to be considered a starter. On another visit the food was not what I ordered and it was over 45 min waiting to be served our lunch. That was raised with the staff however, the manager seemed to consider our concern as trivial.The food on some plates was overcooked and tough , Why YOU MIGHT ASK !!In my opinion when there is a wedding on within the hotel the food is not as expected.I have found the staff in the dinning room excellent. However, the past 3 visits is now changing my mind on further visits, simply on quantity and quality of food.. It is worth a visit on a good day but there are other establishments serving good quality food in the area of east Ayrshire . If management are reading this review please rethink the method of setting out the bill and make it clearer in presentation, in addition to main meal quantity and quality.As for the food in the above 3 visits it is becoming a " hit and a miss" and disappointing..

Stayed here for an overnight, hotel location is fabulous, staff very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and have no complaints. Used the spa facilities which where very good. Will certainly return.

Meals are always of the highest standards.If you go for Lunch on a Sunday can get a very nice meal off the Specials Menu.Staff are very pleasant and knowledgable.The view from the restaurant is very scenic.All in all very pleasant eating experience

Went here for dinner, mixed reviews from friends but as we are local we decided to try for ourselves. My first impression was that it needed a good vacuum and also all the glass on doors seemed really badly smeared. I appreciate that this sounds petty but it was bad enough to be noticeable. Food was quite pricey we noticed. got the 'lochside egg' thing......really strange cold on the inside dish....felt a little queasy afterwards and didn't finish. Hubby got the lamb dish at £17.50 and it was just dreadful....tiny piece of lamb completely drowned in gravy (supposed to be a ju - ha!). The food was really not good. Kind of like a bad Frankie & Bennies (very greasy etc) Service was pretty poor too.....had to ask for drinks 3 times (same order) didn't bother with desserts. Definately won't be back. Food was rubbish (and also not what was stated on the menu - staff knew very little too). Do not recommend and won't be back i'm afraid.

2 night stay. First evening and went in early to the empty dining room and asked for a table and got the usual 'have you booked'. My no answer got a ' if you follow me to the desk (which I had already passed) I will check. Ok, so I trotted after the gentlemen ( I suggested my elderly mother didn't need to do this) and yep he had a table for residents. We chose scampi and chicken fajitas for our main. Food was mediocre. Wine by the glass was poor. The staff who served us was wearing a food stained apron. This disappointed me on two levels, the member of staff but also the 'superior' member of staff we met earlier in the evening. Breakfast was a hit and miss. Egg was cold, bacon was dry, black pudding was good?! The superior rooms are spacious but are very hot and don't have windows you can open, only the doors which I didn't feel comfortable leaving open overnight. I was told there were a 'few' steps down to these rooms.......there were over 20 and no lift! I was disappointed with this as I was travelling with my elderly mother. After the meal at the function I was at we were asked to leave the function room until it was set up for the evening function. After the announcement the sound system appeared to be turned up to full volume perhaps in an attempt to empty the function room. This strategy disappointed me and I found it stressful so I am sorry for any guests with earring aids who I am sure must have found it quite awful! Surely you don't see your paying guests as children?!! .

A family lunch, which we had a lovely time. The location and surrounding were lovely, weather helped for sure. The lunch was average, we went for two courses. Main presented well however found portions slightly on small side and average quality. Personally had Mexican lasagna, greasy through cheese used. Puddings were fine though.There was a wedding party arriving midway through lunch which took over the reception area with some spelling through to estuarine area. Bit annoying, surly both venues should be kept apart.Not the best value but guess you paying a wee bit extra for the new building and surroundings.

Visited on a business trip on recommendation of my B&B. Attentive staff and food well presented. Hotel guests walking to bar in towelling bath robes a little poor. Food - no complaints but nothing spectacular for the price.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at the Lochside House Hotel with the backdrop of the hills around New Cumnock lit by the setting sun, with Loch Creoch in the foreground. It was a stunning view that was capped by a wonderful meal served by attentive and very friendly staff. We thoroughly recommend a meal at the Lochside House Hotel.

Travelled 35/40 miles to experience this restaurant and was worth it.!! Had a great table overlooking the loch and hills. The menu was varied with a few twists! Prices are not cheap but the quality and size of portions make up for that. Staff are attentive and friendly. and the food is excellent No complaints and will be back!

11 of us from three generations had a superb birthday lunch here. The menu is extensive, the choice varied and the quality extremely highSupported by staff who were very helpful and understanding of young children, the location offered everything that we could ask for. Views, parking, nearby golf course, wildlife, modern decor and first class grounds added up to a perfect luch party. Menu prices are not cheap but they are good value for money as the quality of the food and drink, the ambience and the service is excellentIf there is a better venue in Ayrshire, please tell me where it is to be found!

Friendly and helpful staff served excellent and filling meals. Lovely views from dining room over landscaped ponds and distant hills. Very relaxing.we booked in for 18:45 & fixed price menu £12 for two courses.Prompt and friendly service.We stayed at nearby Dumfries House Lodge, a few minutes drive away.

Beautiful setting, attentive staff, great food and spa. This hotel is the ideal spot to enjoy a night away. We visit the restaurant regularly for either lunch or dinner and have stayed over as well. Garden site is lovely and the views on a summer day are amazing

Was disappointed with entertainment and food . Both alcoholic and soft drinks very expensive . Two course dinner ( choice of soup or chicken starter and chicken or roast beef for main course) and entertainment cost £27.95 . Didn't feel that tribute act were particularly good and didn't play for very long, disco played before tribute act and during interval . Having seen a lot of Abba Tribute Acts was disappointed with Abbamania.

On arrival reception staff were friendly and efficient, great first impression. Went for lunch food was excellent and again staff were so nice and friendly. Rooms were a reasonable size and nicely furnished. Had a lovely view of the loch and surrounding area. Went for a spa treatment, great experience a bit pricey compared to some other Spa hotels, but a pleasurable experience, lovely staff.We were on a special deal, and expected a fairly limited menu not so, choice excellent, big portions, and food was of a very high standard. Will certainly go back.

I had the misfortune of booking the Lochside for a family lunch.The location is very nice, but the food and service were poor.Firstly, the restaurant was cold and given it is winter time in Scotland you would imagine they would put the heating on.Secondly the staff were rude and didn't provide a good customer experience.Thirdly the food was average to say the least.Overall: Nice location, rude staff and average food!Would I visit again? No!

Went back to lochside on an Itison Afternoon Tea Voucher.Always enjoy it there, nice staff and a really nice selection of sandwiches, cakes and unlimited Tea or Coffee.One of our favourites places for food and good value

Stopped here on passing while on a business trip for an evening meal. Staff were polite and service generally was good. I ordered the main course which was pork fillets with sweet chilli jam and prosciutto. It arrived promptly and was certainly tasty but too much of the jam made it too sweet for me and i found myself scraping it off nearer the end. This may have been just my own preference. My main issue was the dessert I ordered - Creme Brulee - my favourite dessert but was very disappointed. It failed on all accounts. The top was not "brulleed" enough some of sugar was still granular and the creme while a good texture was devoid of vanilla flavour. A vanilla pod and not been used possibly just essence and it told. The worst however was using that strawberry sauce that you put on kids ice creams all over the plate. Why do restaurants do this!! It was a disappointing end to a promising meal.

Visited here again with family for lunch. As always very busy but service was quick and food quality was excellent. I have no problem suggesting this is well worth a visit however booking ahead advised.

We have just returned from an excellent overnight stay at this hotel. Four of us, occupying two rooms, enjoyed afternoon tea and coffee followed by cocktails. A great start while celebrating a friends birthday. For dinner, we took advantage of the grill offering, with two of us enjoying the sirloin with onion rings (the best I've had for some time) and fries. Another friend enjoyed the duck. Breakfast was prepared on order and was the usual Scottish offerings. Excellent. The location is great for a quite break with views of the loch and countryside. The rooms were fairly spacious with arm chairs and large bathroom. All staff were friendly and efficient. We would definitely return to this hotel in future.

Beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings. Food good but service poor at times - although this was maybe just an off night. Great wedding venue. Staff friendly and I would definitely go again.

Five of us went to the Lochside Hotel restaurant on Sunday for lunch and really enjoyed our food. The restaurant was very busy but the service was friendly and efficient and we did not have long to wait for our food. One of the party had just celebrated his 90th birthday and around the edge of his dessert place 'Happy Birthday' had been piped in chocolate, a really nice touch. We look forward to having lunch again here soon.

Just back from overnight stay with dinner,spa treatment and breakfast,without a doubt the most beautiful place i have ever stayed.We upgraded the rooms for £20 and would recommend anyone to do the same you won't be disappointed.The spa was luxurious,a little taste of how the other half live,cannot wait to go back hopefully for a weekend stay.

Went for lunch to the Afton Restaurant with my wife and we were both delighted with all aspects of our experience. The food was delicious and arrived at our table piping hot and beautifully presented. Our table server was very helpful indeed and should be commended highly. Our final bill was very reasonable, and to this end we will definitely visit again.Stunning scenery surrounds this venue too, what a treasure!

Had a meal here with friends, there was a wedding on and another large company so very busy. ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. Slight delay with two of our main courses but Michael dealt with it very pleasantly and professionally.I would highly recommend this venue for a meal and could not fault any aspect of it. Well done all those involved.

We got married here last Christmas, the staff were fantastic and my day went smoothly, the food was hot and served on time and the guests were all happy with the day provided. I can not thank you enough for making it a special day and my husband and myself look forward to spending our first anniversary back at Lochside.

We were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary yesterday and had no hesitation in having a special meal in the Afton Restaurant. Have been numerous times for a meal here the food is consistently first class, the service is efficient with waiting staff friendly and professional. We certainly will be back again soon.

Having just move to cumnock and seen nothing but stunning pictures we thought we would try this out! And safe to say we were NOT disappointed. We had celebrated our 3 yrs in style. A few waits for the drinks and a longer wait for desert than our starter & main but die to the many more booking we were more than happy to talk away and just take in the lovely surroundings! Young gent with glasses, which we assume was the manager, was doing a fantastic job and very attentive along with the staff. We will most certainly be back, especially for the Lochside cooler. Will need to look into one of those RAD rewards ;) see you soon :-)

Have been at least half a dozen times for a meal here. The food is consistently first class, the service is efficient with waiting staff friendly and professional. The views are beautiful, we were bird watching between courses. We both had scallops with chorizo to start, I had haddock, chips and mushy peas whilst my husband had pork medallions in a sauce with a selection of veg, roast and boiled potatoes, followed by creme brulee and home made shortbread for both of us. Good sized portions and all beautifully presented. We will, of course, be back.

The Afton Restaurant has great promise, a great location with stunning views over the gardens and the nearby loch and good portions for your DBB deals. What would have made this great? More varied options on the menu, dietary restrictions had very limited options on the menu we were offered and due to the layout of the dining tables, those seated closest to the entrance/kitchen were served and cleared much quicker than those at the further ends of the restaurant area, this lead to a lot of watching other people order and get their dinner whilst you wait in anticipation. Food ordered, was cooked and presented to a high standard, would visit again and use the a la carte menu and hopefully get a table nearer the kitchen :-)

Stayed for one night with the family (all adults) and had the best day/night.Has an hour in the Spa which was wonderful.... had it all to ourselves. Dinner at night was amazing too. The bedrooms we stayed in were luxurious, called the garden suite, had our own balcony and so much space.... we will be back .. fantastic place

Have eaten here several times whilst working, filming weddings with amourweddingvideos.co.uk, and always found it excellent. Told my wife who wished to try it out. Didn't disappoint her! Food excellent and service from restaurant manager "Michael" and waitress "Emma" was very personal,attentative but professional. Food super as before and very reasonably priced. Like Big Arnie "....I'll be back!"

Very welcoming staff seated us in the attractive contemporary dining room. The menu selection included local favorites. Food was well prepared and attractively plated. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb dish.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the locals. However we were a bit disappointed. There was a group of guests that were quite loud and still all other guests were seated next to them. I could hardly hear myself think and to have a conversation was hard at times. The service was ok, but we waited half an hour for dessert, which was longer than we waited for the main course. The food was ok, tasty and nicely presented, but not more than that. I had expected more, because of the reputation of the place and recommendations we got.
