Gilley’s Diner in Portsmouth, NH, is a hidden gem for anyone looking for classic diner food in a charming, nostalgic setting. My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite and were impressed by the experience. She ordered a hot dog with fries, and I opted for a double cheeseburger with fries. Both were served within 5 minutes, hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Despite the small menu, the food is top-notch for diner fare, and the friendly service adds to the experience. The diner itself is small and quaint, with only six seats, but the charm of this old food truck-turned-diner more than makes up for it. The service was fantastic—there's only one person running the place, and she handled everything seamlessly. If I lived in the area, I'd be here at least once a month. Highly recommend for anyone craving a quick, delicious meal in a cozy, old-school diner atmosphere.

I had a very positive experience during my visit. After my gym session on a Saturday morning, I was attended to by Ahmed. He was friendly and welcoming, and he provided excellent recommendations for a healthy breakfast. His customer service skills are outstanding. Overall, it was a great experience.

Inside cafe area, people sat eating with coats on as cafe wasn't that warm, till service extremely slow & I know we live in ripoff Britain but £30 for two small breakfasts & 2 coffees, not a problem had it been quality but it failed to live up to anything half decent, firstly swimming in grease, deep fried mushrooms yuk, fried egg yoke was not the only runny part, awarding winning sausage & bacon signs on the wall, very mediocre, carpark is a disgrace. Overall not a pleasant experience.

Would never visit again after my recent experience; have been here a few times; usually good and I even forgave them for a burnt omelette once before. It was busy today but we were not in a rush, so that was fine. No paninis left (at 12.20pm! ) so my daughter had a ham / cheese toastie, which was ok. No smoked salmon either so I asked for a cheese /onion toastie. It was awful, the onions were like they had been fried for a burger. Yuck. So I took it back, and one lady insisted they weren't fried (my daughter said that was the taste, too). So finally, i got an egg mayo cress sandwich. Had a nice pot of tea and a J20. The courtyard really needs a tidy up, brambles, and overgrown flowerbed. Wish I'd gone somewhere else : Think I was overcharged as welll : ( Must say though that 1 poor overworked member of staff was lovely though (lady with short hair.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great location to sit outside and watch the world go by but the old woman that works there has no customer service skills, she’s rude and talks under her breath right infront of you but I called her out this time as she’s done it before. There’s just no need for it. If she isn’t happy working there or can’t be polite to customers that are actually nice and polite to her then the job isn’t for her. All the other younger staff are well mannered, brilliant communication and customer skills. I feel sorry for them working there with her. Must be tough!

Well where do I start. Sadly I have nothing good to say about the service or food. The young waiter didn’t know what the Sunday roast meat was saying he had only just started his shift. We then chose our roasts, myself beef, my mother and daughter pork, it turned up on cold plates with luke warm food. The Brussels sprouts were over cooked, the leeks ( with no sauce) were not cooked enough. Never have I had cabbage with mint sauce in, it was awful. The roast potatoes looked and tasted like they had been reheated. The beef was chewy and the pork was dry. I asked for horseradish sauce to be told they didn’t have any. This sums up to me how inadequate this place is. It’s not good enough. To end on a slightly positive note the carrot, cauliflower and Yorkshires were ok. They did apologised and didn’t charge us for a coffee and a dessert but would have preferred a decent meal and service.

Excellent fruit scones and nice coffee reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and although busy we had speedy service. Dog friendly but not apparent from outside so if not a dog lover don’t worry you won’t be surrounded by mutts. Traditional interior but very well kept.

We only went for a couple of drinks and the staff were fantastic. The first time I went in and was quite nervous as it was the first time I'd been anywhere for a while. I was reassured by the staff at the door who took me though all of the measures in place. Thank you !

Only a 5k walk from the Felixstowe pier, along the seafront to this little gem. On a lovely sunny lunchtime we sat outside & watched the toing & froing of the Deben ferry while sampling the fish and chips. Welcoming, friendly service. Not cheap but delicious & not to be missed if you’re visiting here. Will recommend.
