Good service at lunch today, I had a chicken, pesto and mozzarella baguette which was delicious. Nicely presented with salad, coleslaw and tortilla chips. Be prepared if going as a group as I believe there is a 10% surcharge

And they have "Old Rosie" cider on tap! It's hidden so ask for it. Food is good, garden is nice and secluded on a sunny day. They don't open till late afternoon so we turned up a few times to have to leave again :-(

Popped by for lunch with parents this week and disappointed with our lunch as having read that dogs were not allowed in conservatory we opted to sit there. Twice the pub's dog came in and interfered with our lunch to which staff member or maybe owner said to dog "you know you are not allowed in here !' Something out of Fawlty towers!!! As someone scared of dogs I was not very impressed with dog being near my food and food (curry of day) also mediocre so clearly we won't be returning . A shame as you have a super canal walk across the road .

Arriving at the pub late afternoon on a wet and cod day after a walk around Dogmersfield we were met with a very warm welcome, although the kitchen was due to close we were invited to order lunch as the staff were happy to stay on and prepare it for us. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the pub delightful.

We went to this venue after a walk along the Basingstoke Canal. As there were 12 of us we did reserve a table. There was a good choice on the menu and as one of us is gluten intolerant it was good to see a choice of gluten free meals. The restaurant was not busy but they were ready for us and the service was friendly and efficient. The food was very tasty well presented and a good portion size. Would definitely return.

We headed to the Barley Mow for lunch after a short walk along the canal footpath from Odiham. As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed by member of staff.Looking at the menu there was a very good choice with most meals around £10 and there was also a specials board. We had a fish finger baguette each which came with tortilla crisps,a small salad and home made coleslaw and it was delicious.Other meals we saw being served looked equally good and plentiful. The pub is large with comfortable seating inside and out.The young girl who served us was friendly and helpful. We'll certainly come again when we're in the area.

Attended one of their Monday night quizzes, and had their meal deal of drink and food for £11.50 (approx.). Sadly the lasagne was awful. Not very tasty mince, pasta and layers of cheddar cheese across the top, no white sauce. It was a very large portion but really tasteless. Come on, lasagne is not that hard to make. As the designated driver, I just had lime and soda. The first one was fine. but for the second one they must have changed the brand of lime cordial as it was bright green and again, tasteless.

We went with a pub lunch walking group. As usual we pre-booked our food with the Chief, did our walk and returned a couple of hours later. The food and service was acceptable except in one case they got the food order wrong and were unwilling to accept it was their mistake! It was a pity as up to that point it had all gone quite well. In my view the pub is fine when dealing with small numbers but they seem to struggle when a lot of people arrive together. They also make a £1 surcharge per person for group bookings which was not appreciated by our group although we were aware of it before we went. GS

We descended en masse, soaking wet from our walk, with two muddy dogs. We were met with friendly owners and lovely hearty food. They threw extra logs on the fire to warm us up and really looked after us. The steak pie was a delight. It's a 2 mile glorious walk from the Four Seasons Hotel and definitely worth a stop off. You can easily take a taxi back if you don't want to walk off lunch.

Just within walking distance from home, we donned our coats, hiking shoes and dog (after checking they were dog friendly) booked a table and walked to the Barley Mow.We were warmly greeted, had a good table and were promptly served with drinks. We ordered Hunters Chicken and Scampi, both were lovely, perfectly cooked and served within 10 minutes.I had the sticky toffee pudding for desert with custard. Again, very tasty. We are spoilt for choice with decent country pubs in the local area but the Barley Mow is somewhere I wouldn't hesitate to return to. Recommended.

The Barley Mow made us very welcome for lunch and deserves to grow its reputation as a well run friendly pub that serves amongst others London Pride, Doombar and Brakspear. The appetizing menu had plenty of choice, many ingredients are from local suppliers, and I particularly enjoyed their popular 3 sausages with mash, peas and gravy, followed by an indulgent Eaton mess. There is nothing pretentious about this place, but it enjoys a comfortable relaxed atmosphere to meet, drink and eat. We came away very satisfied.

Lovely food pub but with good range of beers and ciders.I had Old Rosie cloudy cider a personal favourite. The sausage menu was fantastic, sat and sausage is not to be messed with, really very hot!!Only bad point was that the mash potato was clearly processed not fresh, other than that would highly recommend!! Great pub

There is a good wine list to accompany a varied Pub menu, great Specials Menu and some lovely local sausages.Sunday lunches are good quality and well priced and you can book the whole pub for functions. There is a good garden and the adjoining cricket field is all good for Bar b's and bigger functions.Check out the forthcoming events.Staff are great and it is across the road from the Basingstoke Canal car park and on the intersection of several footpaths.

This pub reopened about 8 years ago; it is hidden in a countryside location but easy to get to! Accessible by car, horse or walking along the tow path to the Barley Mow Bridge! Dinner time gives you a more Posh Pub feel but the staff are very friendly and attentive!

Excellent place to park if you want to access the Basingstoke canal. The pub is yet just another one ruined by having turn into gastro style over priced eating place. Outside seating is more or less on the edge of road overlooking car park. We paid nearly £8 for 1 pint, half shandy and 2 bags of crisps. Will not be using it again.

A new year walk along the Basingstoke Canal made the Barley Mow a convenient and agreeable place to stop and have lunch. A bit scruffy having traipsed through the mud on the tow path but welcome nevertheless.Good beer, a welcome open fire and a choice of menu options. I choose the beef curry (special of the day) and wasn't disappointed as it was of great flavour and just the right heat whilst my partner had the scampi and chips which she just managed to finish.Despite being busy service was quick and efficient and the quality of food excellent. When on the canal or just passing through by car give it a go.

We have been trying out the places by us to find the best fry up and came here. I booked a table as I knew it was going to be busy, drinks and food order taken quickly and no waiting to get seated. What I didn’t expect was it to take over 20 minutes for us to get the drinks order after watching the two other couples seated considerably after us get theirs first and for me to have to prompt a waitress. When they arrived it was only half the order of drinks and told us the coffee will be with us shortly. Ironically enough when the coffee turned up another five minutes later the waitress stated “didn’t have to wait too long then”. Which made us speechless. During the wait we were sat near the terrace doors which a few of the staff kept leaving open. Granted - if you’re taking food out it’s understandable. However a couple of them were empty handed and being lazy, the older waiter did make an effort to close it. The food turned arrived about 30 minutes after ordering and was really nice albeit not that warm and the whole delay on the drinks but a damper on it. To follow on from the door saga - whilst trying to eat the breakfast a specific waitress kept leaving the door open letting gusts of cold wind in making the food colder. After I got up for the third time to close it and my boyfriend told the girl to stop leaving it open it only stopped once I told the older waiter what kept happening. Safe to say for the price of the food, I would expect better service and the staff to have more common sense - so we won’t be returning!
