White Hart Newmarket in East Cambridgeshire

Wonderful service, we were staying the night to attend our son's wedding the next day and our service in the bar and restaurant were both excellent , all the staff were great but particularly neve in the bar and Elliot who served us our meal were most attentive and couldn't do more.

Came in with friends, had a couple snacks and soft drinks, great service, i will definitely be coming back , would recommend.

The White Hart in Newmarket is a wonderfully friendly and welcoming pub. As a wheelchair user, I found it easily accessible, and even during the busy Euro football matches, the manager ensured I had a table. The locals were considerate, moving aside to ensure I could pass with my wheelchair. The pub has a great vibe, and the bar staff were very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend The White Hart to anyone looking for a great place to visit.

Great selection of beer! Staff very friendly, had a couple of dietary requirements that were no trouble at all! Lovely atmosphere will definitely return!

Took a visit to the white hart hotel on Friday evening , with a family of 5 of us , one of us and 2 kids had chicken burgers and we were then ill with food poisoning still recovering bill was over £80 very disappointed in our visit , the place needs a good clean , staff weren’t very polite!!

A hotel that is in total need of refurbishment as soon as possible. It has obviously been neglected for a long time.

Visited for lunch. Nice staff and drink selection. We only had soup and sandwiches but was all fresh and tasted good. Would revisit if in the area again.

The bar staff were absolutely amazing with my little children! The food and drinks were really reasonably priced. We have already planned our next day out there! So welcoming and the friendliness of all of the staff we encountered was so humbling

Popped in on the off chance for a quick bite to eat and we were presently suprised. The food was tasty and came out in the quick and timely manner and the service from the bar staff was very smiley and welcoming. All in all a nice place to eat if you are in Newmarket.

Popped into the White Hart for some food one night after work as I had passed it many times but not been as of yet. Well I`m very glad I did!!! Dannika & her team were friendly, gave great recommendations in the spicy beef burger & the Guinness there just happens to hit that little bit differently! All in all it was a really pleasant experience considering I had just gone in on the off-chance & I`ll definitely be returning to try one of their desserts as these were recommended to me by everyone working there that evening!

Went for my sons birthday for a change from our usual restaurant. Bad choice. No bitter, no grills, no chicken roast, and no sherry cheesecake. I think the waitress and waiter came back about 6 times to say that what we ordered wasn’t available. The excuse was that they had been busy the day before. It might have been better to say what was available. Might have saved some time. Won’t be going back.

The manager and staff, especially Kieran were really welcoming and friendly. However there were mistakes with some of the food orders and the portions for the lunchtime vegetable chilli were 20% chilli, 80% rice and tortilla chips. Marstons who own the pub state on their website that they have streamlined the food offering...this clearly translates as reducing the most expensive element on the plate until it is virtually non-existent! Even though the lunchtime prices are keen, they really need to address this issue or customers will not return.

Booked in the previous day for a Sunday roast at 2pm and were specific we wanted a Sunday roast as it was our last Sunday in the UK. We were assured they would keep some for us but on arrival we were told there was none left — too bad. The attitude was extremely disappointing and we felt unwelcome.

Went for dinner one evening, great inside with theme and decor. Ordered a burger and vegetarian meal from the great choice menu and was impressed with the food, reasonable prices too, visit recommended, great for night life too

Met with some work colleagues today, popped in for some food , great service from all staff and managers , food was lovely hot and tasty Dylan recommend the pie and he’s right it’s lovely, menu had a great selection all at reasonable prices. We will return a again soon!

The waitress who served us today was excellent ( I can't believe that I never asked what her name was.......sorry). But what I do know, is that it was her very first day. We had a nice meal and then ordered some coffee - 3 lattes & 1 Americano. As our waitress approached the table, one of the Latte's tipped backwards on the tray covering our waitress with hot coffee which must have been extremely painful. To cut a long story short, it turns out that the latte glass is served on an ill fitting saucer that clearly is not fit for this purpose. Marston's really do need to look into this and prevent this from happening again. I do hope that our waitress is ok.

Visited the White Hart for a roast dinner. My wife had the beef and I had the turkey. Was delicious and piping hot. Staff were great and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be recommending.

17 of us came to this pub for a hen do and a day at the races. The staff and manager were absolutely brilliant. They were so helpful and generous....Dylan the manager bent over backwards for us....we had every need catered for from complimentary prosecco...

Really enjoyed our time here, and you can’t go wrong with a Guiness for £3.70 and a fosters for £3.50! Even when it’s busy the food flys out and it’s the same on the bar service is super speedy so my hats off to you!

Really fine establishment and the bar staff are exceptional. Oliver and Grace especially were really kind and helpful. Unbelievable selection of beverages and an excellent menu filled with many delicious treats.

Decided to meet friends at our favourite plcelebrity in Newmarket before an afternoon at the races. We all ordered different meals and it has to be said they were fantastic. Went for midweek meal. Fish and Chips. Nothing fancy. Great service. Nicely cooked, presented, reasonably priced. Good value for money.

The room was tiny, couldn’t swing a cat. I was woken at 8.30am by someone wanting to clean my room and when I left at 9am the corridors were blocked by dozens of large sacks of linen. Won’t be staying again!

Me and my boyfriend visited this pub for lunch and the value for money was decent as well as the selection of food. The service was really good too.

My husband and I stayed here on 24th and 25th of December while visiting family. Staff were really helpful and informed us that the pub below the hotel would be hosting an event with loud music on the 24th. It was absolutely fine and didn’t bother us. Room was clean spacious and warm. Tea and coffee was available in the room. The breakfast was also very good quality with a variety of cooked or cold choices. The bathroom had a couple of really small maintenance jobs that if done could easily push the rooms from good to excellent. A very pleasant stay.

Great price! £6.95 for a full English or other hot breakfast including use of the continental buffet! Breakfast was good, black pudding, beans, sausage, bacon, hash browns, mushroom and egg. My daughter ate for free too! Service was very good.

Use this pub every year to meet up with family. It is not posh but the food is good and excellent value for money! The staff are pleasant and it is warm and friendly. Ideal for casual meet up with family or friends.

Needed a quick bite in town & stopped here as I used to eat here regularly. They now offer table service so it wasn’t as prompt as being able to order at the bar.

Having only wanted a room for the night after the races this place offered the best value locally. Characterful building but a little tired and dated in the corridors and reception. Lively evening atmosphere. Good deal on cocktails, we thought the food was very tasty and good value. We were on the top floor and we were not disturbed by the noise downstairs although I did bring earplugs just in case! The room was small but the bed comfy and nice big TV! Bathroom looked like it had been recently revamped and was nice apart from the shower which probably needed it too as it stuck out like a sore thumb! Staff were helpful and polite. We enjoyed our stay and thought it offered overall good value for the price. In order to improve I would suggest they pretty up the outside space, replace the shower and revamp the communal areas.

My friends and I used to meet for lunch at the White Hart on a regular basis and enjoyed the food and the surroundings. However, we will not be returning after receiving a £60 parking fine despite paying for a ticket. The whole set up is absolutely disgusting; while we were spending money in the hotel they were essentially employing a company to fine us for being there.

Booked this hotel for its central location as we were visiting the Tattersalls Sales in Newmarket. It was ideally placed for this and photos on the official website showed a good standard of room. We booked a Twin as they looked modern and spacious but were very disappointed at the one allocated to us on arrival. It was tiny, poorly decorated and equipped (the wardrobe being one hanger on the bathroom door!) and the window overlooking the fire escape was filthy. The staff are the only redeeming feature of this hotel as they were pleasant and accommodating. Based on this we decided to eat in the pub that evening, but again the food was of a poor standard. As we were only in Newmarket the one night, we decided to make the best of it but sadly, would not stay here again. This is our first negative review of any hotel we have stayed in,so is posted with a heavy heart.

The decor is probably one of the biggest assets This establishment has . It’s clean, had a bit of an industrial vibe to it and a great variety of seating , between long benches capable of seating for larger groups and the soft squishy kind .

Pint of ale Brakspear Oxford Gold tasted like water. Returned. To be given a pint of Marstons Pedigree that didn't taste any different. Ordered 8oz steak etc. Medium rare, came out with still a pulse, it was that raw. Sent back, TWICE but it had just been microwaved twice and was still raw. Manager shown the steak, got a full refund and awaiting a replacement. Watch this space.

Bad day to try this place race day 20th July

This is good to write a review on as it has so much to offer. Firstly we booked it and did not have to pay for the room until we arrived and secondly the location was perfect. Spot on .

Have eaten here many times before but sadly there standard's have dropped

Being in the service industry I have come across difficult customers, but a difficult server is definitely a new experience. Not even 5 minutes on the premises and we end up leaving due to the disrespect and rudeness shown towards us. This is a shame as we have frequented this restaurant on various occassions to celebrate birthdays and such; but it seems that we will be seeking other establishments now.

Went in to try the new menu out sat down girl came over took drinks order which never turned up I had to get myself from the bar and also had to order at the bar as the waitress never came back to the table to take the food order even though she assured us would be back in a minute and she just stood at the bar doing nothing. Food arrived after a long wait the pub was not busy at all ordered the Route 66 burger didn’t come with cheese or the mushrooms that was advertised in the menu these were missing my girlfriend had the gammon burger again the pineapple was missing as advertised in the menu came in to try ahead of a birthday celebration but will now be finding somewhere else for this due to the appalling food and service

We had a lovely10 oz rump steak and chips with peas and onion rings yesterday. The steaks were cooked just as we had asked. We also had 2 coffees. We were served after about 15 mins .

Three of us came for a catch up and some food. In a nut shell the food that we ordered came out and was poor. Hallumi fries tasted of nothing but oil and batter and the oil was plentiful, dripping out of the case of batter. The smothered wedges were dumped on a plate and covered with a handful of cheese and microwaved within an inch of their life causing another pool of oil to fester in the plate, then dumped on top salsa and guacamole and a squirt of tube sour cream. It wasn’t even the fresh stuff. Disappointing. The nachos which we asked for the chilli in a separate bowl came out like that. A bowl of nachos with another handful of cheese and microwaved to hell. We asked if there was supposed to be salsa and guacamole and the waitress went to check and brought a small dip pot out. The cauli cheese pop things were cold in the middle meaning they weren’t cooked long enough. The pesto burger had no pesto in it!! Come on... as if so many errors could be made on one table. This was by far the worst I have seen here.

Amazing that a pub like this has no wine menus available, asked staff who looked around for one but none available!! ????

Stopped for a pint and quick bite to eat. The bar is well stocked and the staff were very helpful. Our table which was a rustic wooden one near the window was a bit filthy. Old food was stuck in the grooves and on the stool. We just had bread and olives with oil and Vinegar, it was ok however not what expected. Garlic bread and pita but we ate it. The place had a good atmosphere

This was my first stop during a trip to Newmarket and the food was exquisite. The lasagna was quite tasty and the fish and chips were as well (not too much batter). Service was fairly quick and prices are reasonable. The burger looks small but delicious.

Recently went for a Sunday lunch, in the end wished we hadn't. Arrived at about 12:30,and although there were a few customers in,it seemed as if we wouldn't have to wait too long, big mistake.Went and sat down and got the attention of what looked like the only waitress who was working.Informed her that we would like to order some food.After ten minutes and a no show from the waitress I went up to the bar to ordered the food for two adults,one child,this was also very slow,as there was only one member of staff behind the bar,and I heard him say he had only recently been employed.Once ordered and paid for,went back to wait for the food.An hour later and having another couple that ordered after myself,get served our Sunday lunch finally arrived.I did complain ,and the member of staff that dealt with this issue offered compensation(free desserts,a drink or a discount on the meal)Which in the circumstances was the least that they could of done. She agreed with myself the hour wait for food was unacceptable,and she would discuss with the kitchen.I'll certainly think again before dining at this establishment, and recommend to other customers if there is a severe lack of staff when you go to dine, think before placing your order as you might have to wait a while.

Visitamos el pub dos veces mientras estábamos en Newmarket para las carreras. En ambas ocasiones pedimos comida que era preciosa y caliente cuando lo servían, itvdid tardan tiempo en ser servido en ambas ocasiones pero estaban ocupados. El personal era muy agradable y amable y los precios no eran demasiado caros. Recomendaría este lugar para un lugar para comer f estás en Newmarket.

Hoy vine más temprano para disfrutar de una bebida con un amigo una para pasar el tiempo en el sol, acabé siendo algo de comida también. Permítanme comenzar diciendo que la comida era increíble! El personal era muy acertadas de la camarera que nos sirvió de hoy era tan amable y se aseguró de que tuviéramos todo lo que necesitábamos un pedido. (amigo era exigente con la comida! Jajaja) creo que el nombre camareras era Chloe! Si buscas un lugar agradable y acogedor para ir entonces sin duda recomiendo este lugar! Volveré :)

Este era el primer bar de la noche y había una banda en directo. Nos tomamos unas copas mientras espera la banda para hacer su hora de sonido y pensé que me escuche el primer sonido antes de decidir si podríamos comprar un 1 / 2 botella de Prosecco precio antes de las 9 o'clock. El registro de sonido tardó años así que compramos una botella de todos modos antes de escuchar un poco y luego seguir adelante. Parecía un ambiente agradable y un lugar que vale la pena ir una noche de sábado.

Haven't been here for a few years but the new management have made a wonderful improvement!! The staff were lovely, the food tasted amazing and everything was so tidy (unlike the last time I was there). Whilst there, my friends and I noticed a lady who was obviously in a lot of pain and a dark haired lady and blonde haired lady were so caring and seemed to look after her so well. They went above and beyond to look after this lady, helping her upstairs and assisting to her every need. Even whilst helping her they continued to care for other customers needs. Both ladies are an asset to the pub, and work very well as a team. Can't wait to return!

Went here 3weeks ago. Been before was impressed last time we went, but not this time. 2 of us had fish and chips it would hardly feed a 5 year old let alone an adult. The others had burgers. The chips looked like they had been cooked several times or kept warm for several hours. Won't be going back.

Came here for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and it was buy one roast get one free! Great touch. The food was nice, nothing special but the Yorkshire puddings were really big and tasty. Service however was really slow, took about 15 minutes for our drinks to come and we had to remind them what drinks we had actually ordered. Trying this restaurant out again this weekend for a normal lunch so hopefully the service will be better.

There are some good points to this hotel, but sadly they are far outweighed by the bad. We stayed for the night on a Saturday ... Yes we knew this would be busy and loud due to being a weekend and a Saturday but this was beyond that! Arrived lunch time lovely location on the high street short 20 min walk to racecourse , during check in they asked if we got parked to be told we should have reserved parking .. No where is this stated luckily we managed to get parked I would ring up and book apparently only free car park in Newmarket and locals like to take advantage of this. Rooms were OK, tv didn't work but for one night didn't use it. I advise you take ear plugs yes they tell you this is a lively hotel what they don't say is this goes on till 2 am and is so loud the room and objects vibrate, the windows aren't double glazed and no soundproofing. the bass on the equipment needs turning down!!! Please don't stay at a weekend if you want an early start. Your directly above the music no matter where you are in hotel. Beds were comfy and shower was good rooms are decorated nicely and in keeping with the town, corridors need some love. Also a lot of steps involved and no lift if you struggle to walk upstairs this again may not be for you! Bar/ restaurant : you would think by now they would realise how busy race days are.. 2 staff in the afternoon and not many more in the evening. They was working so hard and not getting anywhere. You need more staff to cope with the sheer level of people. Booked a table for a meal at 7 pm to be told the table wouldn't be free till half 7 and then by time we got to table someone had taken chairs, asked if they had any spare to be told wait till someone has finished with them. Didn't realise you had to book table and chairs as well..... Ended up leaving and going elsewhere. This is my 3rd time at hotel the system you had last couple of years worked far better than this time also the noise was worse. Their was private functions on going both times and yet managed to sleep through th both. Words are needed with Dj . No consideration for people paying good money for rooms. Breakfast was lovely one thing I can't fault good selection of teas coffee cereal and cooked breakfast. Sadly after 3 years I won't be coming back to the white hart, will be looking at alternate accommodation for next years race meetings.

Empty, waited an awful long time for 2x burgers, they were cold as were the chip, pub got really busy and couldn't be bothered to create a fuss, disappointed!!!

Normally when I have a bad meal somewhere I won't return, but I always give this place the benefit of the doubt, I like the atmosphere, the front of house staff always seem to welcome you, but they always seem to be understaffed which I can see as I work in the catering industry my self & have been for 16 years & have worked my way up to head chef, which this gives a knock on effect, they seem to be chasing there tails all day, not being able to cope with the work load & getting the chefs food out on time, which is a shame because this place could be so much better "A GOLD MINE" in fact, right to the nitty gritty stuff, I have visited here bringing friends, family, partner & business & it's always hit & miss to the point now it actually becomes a talking point "I wonder what the foods going to be like today" , sometimes the foods cold, sometimes it just looks chucked on a plate, there was even a time me & my partner got given two different meals we didn't even order, we still ate the food as we had already waited nearly an hour for our food, thing is I would understand if the place was busy on this day but we were one of three tables eating that morning, anyway on a brighter note, Sunday gone the 18th September 2016 I was served by two lovely waitresses "new faces" as I haven't been for about 6 months since last visit, the food had improved my roast chicken was really nice, vegetables especially the turnips were lovely, & my deconstructed lemon curd cheese cake was probably the best dessert I've eaten in your establishment, "but still room for improvement" I do still recommend this place to people but I do always let them know it's hit & miss, you have to be carful as word of mouth can spread a long way, I have even heard that people would rather go to the Weatherspoons up the road saying it might be microwaveable food but at least it's a hot plate of food, which is quite insulting, maybe the management need to look into this, as if this was the place I worked I wouldn't want people thinking we were a laughing stock... thanks I will be seeing you again...

Waited 20 minutes for a waitress to come to our table and when she did come over she didn't ask what drinks we wanted just food! When I told her we been waiting 20 minutes and want drinks first she said the bar has been manic but bar people were standing around joking and no customer at the bar?? And when asked about a specific non alcoholic beer she had no idea what we were on about? Although food was nice the service took a 2 course meal 3 hours from start to finish which is unbearable when you have a child in tow! Also a waitress had there hair down which was quite long down her back and constantly flicking its way!! Shouldn't their hair be tied back when dealing with food?? Yes I should!! Won't be in a hurry to return nor recommend!!!

Sunday lunch send back twice and still cold everything on the plate was cold Staff lovely and the manager cancelled our bill for our starters and drinks.Will go back for drinks but not for food.

enoyed a meal here a couple of years ago, and returned to find a run down poorly looked after premises that has sorely been neglected, didn't eat, just sat out in the garden for dinks, this area was very poor coved in scruffy sofas covered in stains neglected furniture, plates not cleared away and cigarette ends everywhere, Gone are the nice high tables and chairs they used to have, not a place to recommend until a deep clean takes place here.
