Love going to The Yard, service, atmosphere & food is great. You can go just for a coffee to having a full meal with drinks. They have thought of everything from hooks on tables for dog leads to children’s toilet seats built in. The tables are been cleaned constantly and there is no mess or rubbish in sight. I can’t recommend enough. Keep up the great work everyone.

An experience to be had both in a group and alone. Unusual formula that is more reminiscent of a fair than a venue. Try the Benedictine egg where the hollandaise sauce needs to be improved and the solutions to share such as the carafe of beer.

Had high hopes that ‘the bagel bar’ I’ve missed so much was back (in part) at the yard. But sadly left disappointed ☹️ I don’t want an ‘open bagel’, I want to eat it with my hands like a sandwich and devour it! Not awkwardly saw away with my knife and fork. The Big Phil was particularly disappointing, a burnt on the outside but mushy in the middle onion bhaji and impractical lumps of halloumi that fell out no matter how tightly I held the bagel (thinner, more sandwich friendly slices would be better). It made for a bitter and texturally unpleasant eat...it just tasted cheap. Sadly the quality isn’t the same as the good old days. I still love the yard. The decor, staff and drinks are brilliant in every way. The food however, is a bit ‘meh’

The Yard has the potential to be an excellent place to entertain family and friends. The appearance and location are great. As for the customer service and food. Customer service is completely missing. The first step of quality customer service is that we would like to be greeted into the facility and explained how and what the procedures are. This would assist and prevent walk outs, which was noticed. Now for the food: I feel is one of the most important things to remember about food and this is that most people will usually first eat with their eyes by means of presentation, then we taste. With my meal, both categories were lacking.

The best coffee in Ely by far. The food is very good too. My only criticism is for some reason (as it's dog friendly) they seem to bark a lot whilst they're there. So ambience isn't the best.

Thank you for opting to be completely closed to the public tonight for a “drag bingo” event but not bothering to tell anybody you were closed for that until we wandered across Ely to your chained and padlocked front gate and discovered the sign. Luckily we were able to spend the money you would have got, at Piccolo’s for excellent cocktails, and Ely Turkish for a superb dinner. So thank you for sending us to those other excellent local businesses instead. (Next time you decide to be closed on a lovely Saturday night, maybe put something to that effect on your socials?)

The best thing that's happened for Ely for a while! Perfect spot to take kids and love the fact that it's dog friendly. It creates a lovely communal atmosphere. It's clear that staff have been carefully handpicked for each station (from the coffee stand to the Winter Bar!), as they're super friendly and always know the details of their roles. The coffee is always perfect, the beers are delicious and the chicken and chips we had yesterday went down brilliantly. I'll have to pop in again when I'm 'proper hungry' to try something off that section of the menu! The burgers and breakfasts look incredible. A real gem!

I am one of a group of friends who meet for breakfast every Friday morning. This week we thought we would try The Yard in Ely. Unfortunately the whole experience was very disappointing. We first had to queue to order our coffee and breakfast at one container. We had to stand at the end of this container whilst coffees were being made. We were then given a beeper which when activated meant we had to go to another container to collect our meal, condiments and cutlery. I ordered a breakfast that consisted of a sausage, two over cooked poached eggs, two rashers of streaky bacon and the smallest piece of toast I have ever seen, with a few mini hash browns. I added to this a mushroom, which was tiny and some beans that looked as if they had been kept warm for a long time as extras. I paid what I consider an extortionate price of £17.90 for this meal. I have paid more for a breakfast and was not bothered so much about the cost as to the complete lack of service and value for money because of this. In view of the lack of service and the cost of food at this venue and importantly the actual quality of the food I shall not return there and would suggest several other restaurants in Ely for a far better meal with what I consider proper service.

Having waited specifically for midday pizzas to become available. I was disappointed the pizza was undercooked. The cheese not melted. The 'sprinkling'pf mushrooms was accurate, I received about 5 small bits. I sadly couldn't taste any truffle oil and the red onions under cooked. Felt a bit like 'first out of the oven dud'. I came to the Yard the day before too, and had the chicken ceasar salad burger. Lacking in ceasar salad and the chips no longer had potato inside them, deep fried too many times. On the pizza occasion I mentioned to the tall/pea coat wearing waiter. Who said he'd let the kitchen know - but with a 'I'm not sure I care about your thoughts kinda vibe. Shame as I really love Silver Oak, the vibe and everything about the Yard. Thr food isn't ever good enough.

Great atmosphere - but no service and food order took very long. The egg and avocado on sourdough were a bit disappointing as the avocado on the great was a very thin layer only and the eggs were hard boiled not poached. The Chilli jam was mire jam then chilli … meaning sweet but no real flavour. At least there was salt and pepper on the table . Not a place to go with 14 people … food came with long delays between each order …

Honestly this is what Ely needed. There's always room for improvement and a few more healthier food choices would be appreciated in the long run. But wow! The environment is hip, they've thought of nearly everything from the cycling camera secure zone to indoor baby changing facilities and play area. The coffee is a real reason to visit and the staff are friendly and always willing to have a little conversation which is often just missing from the Costas and Starbucks chain shops. Seriously well done to the team. The beer bar and food is a nice addition.

I've been here several times, it's a really nice space- and great to have somewhere open into the evening in Ely. Staff are always friendly and one of the service hatches updates seasonally- mulled wine and spiced apple juice in winter, frozen margaritas in summer etc. I like that so much of it is open air, although lots of it has a roof- with blankets and heaters in cold weather. The standard menu is good with well thought through vegetarian options, and there are frequent specials. It gets busy so service can be slow sometimes but they're good at letting you know when there's likely to be a long wait

Been a few times to the main area and little beans area. Always been amazing!! Food, snacks, hot drinks and alcoholic drink variety is great and a lovely atmosphere. Little beans area is brilliant, lovely little soft play with chairs and tables and baby change with toilet. The fact its also free to use for customers is brilliant. More places need these little set ups! The only reason for the stars was particularly for a one off occasion (have no complaints outside of this, so appreciate this isnt a regular issue) Went in Little Beans with our 1 yr old, and the rules are 4 yrs and under and supervised by an adult (amongst some other rules) as time went on more children came in, however very clearly not 4 or under by a long shot. Started playing together quite rough with the soft play cubes throwing them across the play area and play fighting with each other. I am all for kids having fun, but when you have my and 2 other very little ones having fun it is quite frustrating. There is very little in Ely for little ones to be able to roam and play that is fun and safe for them indoors. We would of spoken to their parents politely to ask if they are going to be in here to just be mindful of the little ones, but they werent even in there with their parents. We were leaving soon after anyway so didnt have time to speak to a member of staff, but just a little dissapointed on this occasion.

What an absolute gem of a venue! It is unique in almost every way from layout, presentation, product offering and entertainment this place is unlike anything or anywhere you have seen before. The staff treated me more like a welcome friend than a customer. The venue is incredibly family friendly with a safe play area for kids away from too much foot traffic. I had a perfectly brewed latte to start which was clearly made using some of the finest beans ground freshly for my beverage. I then had a Reuben sandwich which is one of the very best I've tasted anywhere in the world, ingredient proportions were perfect, the shredded corned beef was cooked to perfection and it was served on a fresh bun topped with a gherkin slice accompanied by a generous portion of perfectly cooked chips. It was quiz night, but due to sound regulations imposed to protect the neighbours the event was run using headsets and wireless tech like a silent disco. Innovation is this place's middle name. If you are local or simply visiting Ely this is an absolute must! You'll regret not trying this hideaway venue. I look forward to many more delightful experiences here.

“Best 1st Birthday Party Ever!” 07 October 2023 What drew us to this place was the venue itself first of all, which had a very cozy but “indoors” vibe to it, which suited us very much because we were looking for a venue for my son 1st birthday with a jungle/indoor theme. Me and my husband decided to hold it here at The Yard by Silver Oak, and we could not be happier with the end result. Firstly, Andi and Adam were the nicest people to organise this event with and were so accommodating. We felt as though nothing was too much or out-of-range. They worked so hard and so well with their team of staff, who were so friendly and attentive to our guests. Secondly the food quality, taste and vision was flawless. We would 100% recommend this place as a restaurant but also as a venue for an event, not only for the venue itself but for the level of service you would receive, being professional yet warming and friendly!

We have been to The Yard on three separate occasions now (opening day, a Saturday in June, and a Sunday in October). On each of these occasions, the kitchen has been either delayed 1hr+ or closed over lunch later than listed. As a family with a preschooler and a baby, we don't really have an extra hour to wait for food. That said, the food is tasty and the coffee is always the best in Ely. The soft play area is fantastic, the toilets are clean, the atmosphere is great, and the fact that in addition to all of this, we can bring our dog is awesome. We will return, but the timing issues with the kitchen are definitely putting us off.

Lovely place to have a morning coffee that drifts into a delicious lunch.

Had a great time last night food really good. Some friends joined us around 7. We had another drink but then noticed a pungent smell similar to cat wee. It put us off staying so we fninshed our drinks and left. This was a shame as the place has a great vibe and will go back would be interested to no if anyone else noticed the smell and what it was. I certainly did not see any cats wondering if it was the disinfectant they use.

Good location for Newmarket, poor service. The rooms are outside in the car park & are small but clean & modern. Lots of noise potential when busy. Service lacklustre. Expensive for what you get.

Used to be excellent, but since it’s changed hands the quality has really declined.
