Fantastic food, presented with care and friendly customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. The cafe itself was warm and welcoming and very comfortable. Gluten and dairy free options were available.

Went there once with my daughter before I took her to school , I was served by a very pleasant but rather excited blonde haired girl called Laura , she reminded me of the West Indian fast bowlers in the mid 80’s nothing short of 100mph , but she entertained my little girl for a few minutes whilst I chose our mid morning snacks so kudos to her and she was rewarded with a rather large tip , I chose the lobster Thermidor which was to die for the presentation and taste were second to none I accompanied that with a beautiful strawberry and aloe Vera green tea which was also very tasty , I have rather large ears so really enjoyed the banter of it coming in a beautiful dumbo cup (still laughing now) , my daughter had her regular mid morning nutritional feast of pancakes with fresh strawberries drizzled with maple syrup and sprinkles and beautifully paired with a large glass of the finest semi skilled milk , throughout we were asked if we were ok and how is your food which I thought was a lovely touch considering they were busier than a 4 bedroom house rented by Eastern European labourers , I’d definitely recommend this place and took this opportunity to thank and praise the wonderful owners and staff that made our visit such a lovely experience, we will definitely be back next year to sample your wonderful culinary delights 🫶🏼

I’ve just ate in here and the drinks came and they were decent but when the food came my face dropped I ordered nachos and I expected them to be nice and high quality but they were salted cheap store bought nachos with a tiny bit of each source and a few jalapeños on, all but the top layer had some topping but you are left with a bowl of cheap dry nachos for £6.50 and I highly doubt and of the toppings were homemade I believe they’d come out of a tube or tub. The tuna “melt” was cold and the cheese was just cheese slices and they weren’t even melted! We also ordered a chicken and bacon toastie which tasted fishy, sliced chicken breast was expected where as what seemed to be chicken/Mayo from a store bought tub is what we got. Overall the food here is overpriced for the low quality ingredients you get, won’t be eating here again.

Nice little cafe with great decor but overpriced. I met a friend, we had cakes and coffee. Cake was nice, nothing special, but at over £4 a slice I thought this was extortionate. If I’d known the price beforehand, I wouldn’t have bought it, so there’s a lesson there for me, to ask before ordering. I expected around £2.50 to £3, which is fairly standard and probably more like what it’s worth. Wouldn’t go again at these prices.

Very nice location, very nice and unique interior. I went for a catch up with a friend and fancied myself a vegetarian option... just as well I’m not a vegetarian because I would have been stuck. I opted for a bacon sandwich which was nice. The staff working were lovely I would say there is no issue with service at all. I would advice to maybe stock some more milk alternatives as there was only soya which isn’t always people’s favourite and many people actually can’t have soya. I would also suggest to have some vegan cake options for variation. I would return as I wasn’t disappointed I just wanted to leave some suggestion and to inform people who might be vegan/ have allergies to be wary.

I'm not from this area how ever me and my girlfriend often visit here when I come to shields. we usually love it so much we came twice this time. The first visit it was amazing can not fault it staff friendly and attentive! Only comment was the shock of how spicy the chorizo burger was but still delicious!! The second visit was not more than 2 days later and I was very disappointed! Staff where rude as we went to order, we were ignored for a few minutes. Ordering 2 toasties, which were slammed down and not announced as to which was which, tuna melt and the chicken mayo bacon toastie which came without the bacon but noone checked to see if everything was ok so I just finished it. I Then mentioned it when I went to order cake and the waiter basically just said she'd tell the chef no apology or even looked like she cared! Safe to say I was a bit disappointed in this put a downer on the visit and opinion of the place. Customer service could be improved.

The cafe is nicely decorated and has some lovely vintage furniture on display. They certainly have created a nice ambience in there. The server was a bit grumpy we thought and seemed that she hadn't had much customer service training. Service was slow and the cakes seemed a bit old , certainly not freshly baked as advertised. The coffees seemed below standard as well. The food and service does not live up to the lovely interior of the building.

Second time I’ve visited to be served cream cake where the cream was off - I opted for cheesecake the first time and the piped cream on the top was off - yesterday I decided on what looked like a gorgeous eclair - cream was off - what gave it away was the fact a scraping of new cream had been added by the time it arrived at my table, however it didn’t alter the fact the cream inside was off. Incidentally both visits were a Monday - seems the food is what is left from either Saturday or Sunday - disappointing to be honest - coffee was nice and I was refunded for the eclair (I wasn’t for the cheesecake on my previous visit as when I pointed out the problem I was told to ask for a free cuppa on my next visit, which I wouldnt do)

Decided to try here for breakfast. Ordered a sausage sandwich which was £4.25. I don't mind paying a bit extra if it's worth it. Unfortunately on this occasion it was not. The quality was actually quite nice. But for £4.25 you will receive a large bun with 2, yep .... 2 sausages that they have tried to flatten out to make them fill the bun more. Was already suspicious before we left the shop with our food as it felt very light. Not value for money at all, will not be returning.

Visited this place with my wife,we had a tea and a baked potato each. I had the tuna and she had the corned beef one. When I say baked potato, here's the con, it is actually half the empty shell of a baked potato, filled with mashed potato which has been mixed with a filling.I didn't actually detect any tuna in my filling. I expected the normal whole baked potato with a tuna perhaps mixed with onion ,not half of one!Our poatoes were on the rather small size as was the side salad that accompanied it.The price for the two baked potatoes and two teas was £14.40p.So there we have it, nearly fifteen quid for what was two small and quite underwhelmingbaked potatoes with tea.I looked at the boards on the wall, a small pot of chips with a small pot of chicken goujons is £7. 95p . Both pots were small, I ask you £4.00 for a small pot of chips, are you kidding!!!I left feeling ripped off, would I return? Not on your nellie!

We went here for breakfast the other week, first the good points, the food was nice well presented quick to serve, staff friendly and obviously popular with the locals. The exterior and interior are very modern clean and inviting, the toilet was clean and presentable although the toilet roll was stuck on a pole type of holder and trailed the floor.I have never been to the westoe crown village before and found the shopping area a little difficult to find as there appears to be no signage to direct customers. I had heard of the establishment and many people suggested trying it, my first impression on arriving; it appeared to have a child's table outside with different coloured chairs however, on entering this was obviously the theme multi coloured and a bit oddball. From recommendation I expected quaint rather than modern, it's slightly intimate in that the tables are fairly close to each other, however that didn't spoil my enjoyment of the food and decoration. The little "shop" I'm sorry to say didn't entice me so I can't really comment on the service or its wares for that reason. Finally the cost although nice and as described above I didn't feel the price reflected what we received. This will most likely be a one off visit not because of the cost, but that it wasn't that appealing that I would want to frequent & the surrounding stores have nothing that would draw me back on a regular basis.

There is a nice little shop part opened up now in the place which sells a nice array of gifts

After cycling 20 miles to watch the Great North Run, just off the cycle path we spied a lovely new row of shops and there at the end was Mac 'n' Alli. we couldn't get there quick enough! Seats outside and inside the most quintessential quaint eating place I have been to in a long while. Number one was the very friendly service by all the staff. the choice of food and drinks was excellent. Lots of people were having giant Yorkshire puddings but I went for a cheese scone ( delicious, and I am an expert in cheese scones!) The other half had a very substantial sausage sandwich. To follow we had home made flap jack which we shared, again delicious. This cafe is well worth a visit. Roll on next years Great North Run !

Great little cafe with lots of character. Started off as a shop with a few tables, now cleared for many tables and sofas, with a few things to buy around the edges. Lovely selection of cakes, but it's the cheese scones with seeds atop and the baked potatoes that draw me back time and again. Have just recently discovered the Sunday roast, with a lot of different veg and your choice of meat in a boat of a Yorkshire and a personal jug of gravy - yum. Very filling. Can also get quorn filet and veg gravy.Varied menu of toasties (can be a it underdone for me), omelettes, hot and cold bagels, pie and chips. Bit on the pricey side, but the experience make up for that.

We go regularly for coffee, I like a strong flar White so I ask for an extra shot. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the ambiance is relaxing, the kind of place you want to linger in. The decor is contemporary and very individual; lots of quirky things to look at and reflect on.Love the card collection and the second hand books, the book donation goes to charity, a good idea.

Food excellent. Service excellent. Room large, therefore lacking cosy atmosphere I like, also on a so called summer's day too cold to sit comfortably.

I like to stop in here on sunday mornings for a tea or coffee. The food is lovely and cakes are freshly baked. Only 10 minutes from the beach, im surprised more shops haven't opened in this prime location.

Have visited this hidden gem several times. Staff always friendly and food is amazing - tried several things on the menu both sweet and savoury and never been disappointed yet - don't look at this as just another little cafe - it's absolutely fab!

This was my second visit. It's changed a little since I was last here. They used to sell more nick nacks but have reduced these a added more tables, creating different seating areas. My friend and I had a long lazy breakfast on bank holiday Monday. The food was lovely , staff are really friendly. The only criticism I have is they sell small, 2 cup tea pots with tea cozies which are over priced. Another cafe in Boldon had them for half the price which was about right.

First time here today; visited with my mum and we both absolutely loved it. Very quaint and quirky, fab gifts and very cosy. Excellent service; friendly, helpful, courteous and speedy! We had afternoon tea. It's not cheap at £24.95 but it was unlimited yea or coffee and far more food than we could eat! And absolutely delicious with a fabulous selection of sandwiches, savouries and cakes. Plus of course a cream scone. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

After visiting Mac n Alis today, I found that the food was delicious and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Me and my friend both ordered paninis with a side of fries and you could tell they were fresh and homemade. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helped to advise us what to order and gave they recommendations. Overall a lovely experience and we will definitely be visiting again.

The place itself was a bit rundown upstairs, toilets were awful, slippy and hand drier didn't work. Could do with a bit money spent. We were here with our cheese cart as it was a present for my sisters wedding. Pity the bailiff came the same night and locked the gates. Had a nightmare getting our stuff out. Shame really as we had a great time up and downstairs
