Pondview in Sevenoaks

Would never visit again after my recent experience; have been here a few times; usually good and I even forgave them for a burnt omelette once before. It was busy today but we were not in a rush, so that was fine. No paninis left (at 12.20pm! ) so my daughter had a ham / cheese toastie, which was ok. No smoked salmon either so I asked for a cheese /onion toastie. It was awful, the onions were like they had been fried for a burger. Yuck. So I took it back, and one lady insisted they weren't fried (my daughter said that was the taste, too). So finally, i got an egg mayo cress sandwich. Had a nice pot of tea and a J20. The courtyard really needs a tidy up, brambles, and overgrown flowerbed. Wish I'd gone somewhere else : Think I was overcharged as welll : ( Must say though that 1 poor overworked member of staff was lovely though (lady with short hair.

Pond View is a great place to get together with family and friends for a tasty meal with good service.

Popped in for a bite to eat and my omelette was definitely the best I have ever eaten, super tasty and cooked just right. I noticed great variety of people from mums with babies and toddlers, people with dogs, cyclist's as there is a safe place to store your bikes, elderly- definitely the most popular place to have a meal. Was made to feel welcome by the owner Tabar and the waitress Zara. Definitely will keep coming.

Popped in for a takeaway coffee and bacon sandwich. Very friendly owner and food made freshly. Will definitely use again.

Taken here by a dear friend who knows the owner very well. Table booked. We were treated like long lost friends. The welcome from the owner and her staff was just lovely.

Love eating at this place whenever I am visiting Otford. Food is always tasty, prices are very honest and fair, the owner is super friendly, hardworking and makes everyone feel welcome along with the staff. Food is always freshly cooked and totally recommend.

Came here a few times last year, today was the first time this year and was worth the visit. We had a cream tea and it was absolutely delicious scones are home made and baked daily they were so soft I could of eaten more. The lady owner is so polite and welcoming and always checks if we are ok, this cafe is also dog friendly when we was there the lady served the visitors and even gave the dog some fresh water and a doggy biscuit which is nice. There lunches looks amazing, especially the home made pies. There's loads of homemade cakes to choose from aswell. They also do a full English breakfast before 1pm daily which I must try. Definitely worth a visit , highly recommended. Will visit again soon

We visited yesterday half way through a long walk to get a couple of pieces of cake to take away. It was very busy with people having breakfast or just a coffee and cake. Several cyclists fuelling up on a lovely day. The owner is so friendly, offering to fill up our water bottles and with no issue about us both using the toilet even with muddy boots. And there are tampons in the toilet, just in case you get caught out. Very thoughtful.

This is my third time visiting this lovely cafe. The staff are friendly and the food is very nice. Tea served in a teacup and teapot - very welcome after a long north downs walk.

Whilst the lady was very friendly we were disappointed with the so-called home made pie. The pastry was clearly frozen and re heated and consequently was rock hard..the filling was OK but everything was pretty luke warm and the plates cold..not worth the money..shame because we had a cream tea not so long ago and that was fine. Will not return.

Out for a solo ride on my bike and I stopped here for a cream tea. As always a superb quality cream tea. A really lovely place with great staff: Tayyiba and Sarah were so friendly and helpful as always. I was sad I had to miss the recent event they held to raise money for the Ukraine crisis. But today the fresh scones were as lovely as ever. Great to restore my energy to face the hills facing me on my bike. I'll see them again very soon.

We popped in here on Easter Monday, just wanted a quick coffee. There was a couple of tables filled but not what we would call busy. We ordered a cappuccino and a cream tea. 3 times one of the ladies came to double check our order. There was a smell of burning and then one of the tables paninis came out they were burnt! We must have waited a good half hour for our drinks and a scone. The scone when it did come was very nice but it was all just very disorganised. Probably wouldn't return

It is so rare to find such a hidden gem where the very friendly staff clearly enjoy working, despite being busy our waitress wore a huge smile on her face and made time to answer our questions about the local area. Our food was plentiful, home cooked and reasonably priced. We look forward to returning very soon.

I come here with my friend whenever we visit Otford and the Pond View Cafe never disappoints. Always get a warm welcome as soon as we come in, great selection of freshly made cakes, great view of the pond, prompt service and prices are very reasonable.

Recommend this nice Café situated in beautiful Otford serving breakfast, lunch and cakes at a good price. Tasty food and friendly staff. Cash only.

Once you get in and get a seat it is not too bad but unfortunately the staff seem to turn a blind eye to the queue outside despite there being empty tables inside. I think maybe they need more staff over the weekend lunch period as staff seemed very stressed out and service levels suffered as a result. It’s quite good value but feel as if we did not see it at its best, probably as staff too stressed out. It’s cash only.

It is absolutely pleasant place, been a guest there many times. The cook (a boss the same time) is very good. Tasty food, prepared carefully. It's a clan place, I trust in their hygiene immensely. Absolutely recommending!

Decided to stop here as location is lovely. Food very disappointing. Standard sliced of bread, miniscule piece of bacon, accompanied by a quater cut piece of tomato. Charged 40p to toast( which was burnt on one side) the sandwich too. Luke warm food, very over priced. Furniture looked tired and cash only, even though staff banged on about wearing a mask.

Went here for lunch and had a lovely jacket potato with salad, beans and cheese. Could not fault the service and the wait time for food. The portion size was spot on. I was a comfortable 'full'. Staff were extremely welcoming and chatty. Very affordable. All round 5 star!

Delightful lunch in Otford with my Mum and the view over the pond on a sunny day is lovely. The menu is a little basic but portions are good and fresh and not mean. We had jacket potatoes and they came out hot and in good time. I think it gets busy so we were lucky to get a table especially on a nice day. Thank you Pond View we will see you soon.

Yes, a friendly enough cafe. But a pot of tea for 2 using one tea-bag ??? That’s mean AND it wasn’t that cheap.

Excellent breakfast (very tasty bacon) and good value for money sweet staff. Probably the best cafe we stop at when cycling this area.

On the way back from our club ride to Sevenoaks from SE London we stopped off here as one of our members said it was very good. Despite it being past the time they normally serve hot food, the cafe took care of our 12 hungry cyclists with delicious home cooked and reasonably priced food. We would thoroughly recommend a visit here, the service is prompt and friendly and the food is excellent. Thanks for looking after London Clarion Cycle Club members so well.

Myself and 12 colleagues have lunched here twice this week. Fabulous hospitality. Staff very welcoming. Food was lovely and fresh. Would highly recommend!

Superb friendly service, with tasty home made food. Fresh scones, straight from the oven, a fantastic treat. Breakfasts look great, did not get a chance to try them, look forward to to that next time. Welcoming host, with lovely view of the village pond.

Found this cafe today, Christmas Eve! It really is special. Vintage decor, including two sofas. Very good menu, reasonably priced. The owner was really friendly and helpful. Definitely will return soon.

Arrived this morning to the cafe with about 4 customers only already there. No welcome from anybody nor did anyone come to the table for ten minutes. There were 4 staff in the kitchen but nobody helping the customers. Eventually the owner came over and when we asked to order she walked off and started chatting to someone. After another 5-10 mins of nothing we walked out and went to the local pub who were more than happy to serve us quickly. The last time we went to this cafe years ago it was overpriced for what it was then - trying to support the village we tried again - never again! Very very poor.

On Saturday 30th of October myself and my partner decided to pop into the Pond Café after recently moving to the local Area.

I have been here several times over the past few years and over the last few weeks have visited for breakfast. The staff are very friendly and the food freshly cooked and you get the choice of tinned or fresh tomatoes something a lot of other cafes in the area should offer but don’t. Very reasonably priced you even get tea/coffee included with certain breakfasts. Would recommend

Walked into admittedly a very busy cafe. I asked the waitress if I should just seat myself. She said yes and she’d be over with a menu. I sat at the only table available, recently vacated by an older lady who was paying. I sat at a table for half an hour, with the last person’s half empty plate. I tried several times to try to get the attention of the waitress to no avail. I was in my lunch hour, and subsequently wasted half of it waiting fruitlessly. If a cafe is busy, having a waitress or two either wandering half heartedly around asking if everything is Ok and chatting to customers (which is great practice, but keep it brief during busy times), or stuck at the till while people wait endlessly at dirty tables isn’t great. Seems there was no cohesion amongst the staff. Left after half an hour and ate at a place down the road

A cut above a greasy spoon, this is a quaint little place, that doesn't try too hard and it succeeds. The English breakfast is good, the sausages are real and there is a fair selection for vegetarians if you have the misfortune to be with one. Service is very friendly and if for some reason you thought, I know, I'll get up and go for breakfast and pick up a birthday card and a crocheted baby bonnet you're in luck, they sell this too. The cappuccinos are not good... far too much hot water. In the Sevenoaks area it is probably the reasonably priced breakfast place and I will come here again (and again).

Pond View Cafe is a lovely, well run and friendly place. We've visited lots of times, they do nice coffee and a good vegetarian breakfast.

After a long walk from Eynsford to Otford, we stopped off at the Pondview tea room in Otford. It's a lovely tea room serving great food. I recommend the omelette and chips with a cup of tea.

Friendly welcome. Our friends who are English living abroad were very excited about the cream tea, and knitted tea cosies!

Really different experience from the person below. We went in with a toddler and were very welcomed. There was a box of toys and books for her to play with and she did make a noise but we didn’t feel that was a problem for anyone else. Had three large lovely portions of cake. The owners were very friendly and open to new ideas. Definitely worth a visit.

Although the service & staff were friendly wasn’t a good place for children, it was mostly elderly customers in there & too quite for children. Food wasn’t great, nor was the decor felt unloved rather than traditional or vintage

Very accommodating of vegan diet even though there wasn't a vegan option on the menu. Good value for money and very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of seats.

A waste of what would be a good space for a real cafe. Had a full 'English' breakfast, and on menu it says tomatoes, when in reality you get 1 tomato from a tin. This is not the only negative thing I have to say. Every ingredient is the cheapest money can buy, including the cheapy fatty bacon. The only thing hot was the badly fried egg. Watching the owner eat with her hands in the kitchen whilst preparing our food!! Dirty mug for tea and cutlery unclean.

Good old-fashioned British cafe - long may it thrive! Friendly and prompt service, despite it being a fairly busy lunchtime. We had soup, sandwiches and moussaka, all of which were good. The tap water was nicely lemon flavoured. Lovely view of the pond with it's floating duck house!

Stopped on bike ride for warm welcome and a lovely healthy breakfast wih pot of tea. Great to see these places still exisi. Great view and very clean. I will be back.

Weak flat white; standard breakfast/brunch menu; tasty food but small portions, especially for walkers and cyclists; standard sliced bread; not inexpensive given the aforementioned. Credit cards may be used but actual paying is quirky: staff take you to the nearby pharmacy and you pay there - but not on Sundays as the pharmacy is not open, so make sure you have cash on a Sunday! We cycle in the area several times a week, were disappointed so will not return.

This place does a wonderful freshly cooked Full English breakfast and other choices. Relaxed and chilled out cafe. Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch before setting out walking to the Otford Hills.

This is not the first time I've eaten here and Tamar and her team always give a warm welcome with good, fresh cooked food just how you want it. You only have to ask if you need a tweak in a dish and it will be done. A good range of foods. I stopped by 2 days ago with my elderly friend having walked the delightful footpath from Eynsford Village to Otford, some 5km. I had a superb jacket potato with PROPER ham, small chunks of home baked ham, none of that plastic stuff with cheese (no stringy greasy cheese) and a fresh salad with no dressing on it to spoil the flavours which was what I asked her to leave out. Couldn't have been nicer. The cycle groups from Sidcup Cycles stop here also on Saturday mornings sometimes and are always friendly and enjoyable to be around, fuelling up to complete their ride home. Thanks Tamar, you're a star. Sorry I have moved so far away but I'll be back with Paul when I next visit the area.

6 cyclists in our party today. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Sat in their lovely little garden and enjoyed some great food (mostly breakfasts). Almost before we sat down the owner appeared with jugs of water so we could fill our bottles. Nice touch; as was the homemade biscotti.Got the sense nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back, and soon.

My wife and I arrived desperate for a phone charge. The owner could not have been kinder, allowing us to plug in our phone. She went out of our way to help us. We took a seat and ordered tea. We immediately felt relaxed and welcome.

Stopped in Otford to visit an antiques centre on the same road. My husband had the vegetarian breakfast and I had salmon and scrambled eggs, both were very nice. The cafe has a bit of disorder to it but in a nice un-polished independent way. They sell cards and tea-cosies too. They only accept cash.

I come to this lovely cafe regularly. It is my favourite . I love all the staff and the service and they always remember what I want . Will always be my regular cafe .

I had a jacket potato for lunch and my partner had omlet. Both were fresh and delicious. Atmosphere in Pondview was extremely friendly and the waitresses were very efficient and pleasent. Can't wait to come back. I highly recommend! 🍅🍑🥗🧂

Returned to this lovely cafe after not having been for quite a while and not disappointed. Food was excellent. Latte perfect and hospitality very warm and welcoming. Once you have been you will want to go back.

There’s always a friendly welcome at this cafe, particularly for cyclists. The staff will open the side gate so that bikes can be left securely while you indulge yourself with excellent mid-cycle cakes and snacks. I highly recommend rerouting your ride so that you can call in!

I met with several friends at the Pond View Cafe to do some crafting. The welcome was great, we were seated together in a corner of the cafe, the service was good and the coffee and food were very tasty. Altogether a happy morning

We'd walked about 5 very muddy miles when we spotted the Pond View Café and feared that our filthy boots would not be welcome. Wrong! We were ushered in, seated and, despite it being after lunch had finished, we were served up with ham, egg & chips and a generous pot of tea. Thick tasty slices of ham, splendid hot chips and topped with a fried egg. Perfect revival food!

Myself and my family came here to celebrate a family members birthday. The afternoon tea was absolutely lovely,every sandwich and cake was presented nicely on floral cake stands. All handmade and tasted delicious, with really friendly and attentive staff who really did cater for your every need. Anything else you wanted they provided with ease and they really did go above and beyond. I would definitely recommend coming here, and the afternoon tea to everyone I know.

Warmly welcomed by the owner who opened the side gate to let us park our bikes in the back yard. We had bacon butties all round with coffee. The owner brought us a jug of water to refill our bidons and the comfy sofas at the front of the cafe were a great place to soak up the sun whilst we ate. Gluten-free was catered for. The non gluten free cakes all looked delicious and were freshly (homemade).

Food freshly prepared, the Café is clean and cosy overlooking the duck pond. One of my favourite cycling stops for a pot of tea and a sausage sandwich.

Although I live in central London I often drive to Otford to visit the cafe. With it’s peaceful South-facing aspect overlooking the village church and duck pond, the cafe specialises in freshly prepared food of excellent quality. Julian Massey, Limehouse, E14.

I often stop off here with fellow riders from Team Sidcup Cycles for a spot of brunch during our club rides. The food is always tasty and is very good value, the service is excellent and the locals are cyclist friendly. There is a safe area round the back of the cafe for the bikes so overall it ticks all the boxes for a bunch of hungry lycra louts!

Twice in one week? Must be good. A nice, bright, traditional cafe, just across the road from the famous duck pond - hence the name. There is table seating and table service, but there are also settees by the windows. The staff are delightful, and we saw them being particularly helpful to some elderly people who needed helping up the front step, plus a gent with a guide dog. They must all have been regulars, known by name. So good to see.

This has become a firm favourite with local cycling groups. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the coffee is delicious, and the cakes and snacks are perfect for a mid-ride stop. When cyclists arrive, one of the staff will open the gate and bikes can be stored safely in the enclosed garden.

Popped in for a sandwich and a coffe. The coffee was really nice to be fair but the sandwich was a average with cheap bread and sausages. The cafe itself benefits from the views of the pond which are ordained with Poppy’s. The staff are friendly but then you have to use the card machine at the chemist which is a tad odd.

Myself and a group of friends went to this lovely little cafe for a high tea. The sandwiches and cakes were exceptional and the service could not be faulted. Will definitely be coming again!

nice and airy building, decor still from the 80`s and not in a good way. had a latte which was properly the worst i`ve ever had, dishwater is what it resembled. Maybe if the staff took as much notice in what there serving and there customers, as they do to sitting outside and smoking non-stop, (and when you want your bill, they look at you like s**t on a shoe, and maybe not realising we can hear what they are saying) it might be a ok place.!!

Visited with friends today for afternoon tea. We had pre booked & our request for specific dietary requirements were catered for without question. Unlimited tea, excellent friendly service, great sandwiches, cakes & scones. Very reasonably priced & definitely worth a visit.

Not from the area. But popped in for a sit down. Young lady greeted me with a smile, asked me to take a seat and she come to me. She was very welcoming and friendly and so was the young man who I believe was helping in kitchen. I had a lovely coffee with side milk and a very Delicious victora sponge cake.. it was perfect. I also notice the young lady helping an elderly couple into the cafe and help them get seated while greeting others entering the cafe aswell. She offered a great service to myself and others. I recommend a visit to this tearoom it had a beautiful view and couldn’t praise the young lady enough. I’m be coming back. Thanks for a lovely coffee and cake.

I newly moved to the area and was welcomed with open arms by the lovely staff and owner. The food is good value for money with decent portion sizes. I would now consider myself a regular now, and I love the friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend it!
