Alibi Bar & Restaurant in Calderdale

I had this restaurant booked but 4 days before they e mailed saying they were not opening on a Tuesday. As I had paid a deposit I asked them to return this as I don’t live nearby so would not be able to change the date. They assured me the deposit would be returned in 10 days! 3 weeks later and numerous ignored emails I still have not received my deposit back. Can someone sort this out and return it.

My friend and I took advantage of the lunch menu which was excellent value at £3.00. I would like to visit again, however it was very busy and very noisy. Not surprising as the food was amazing. I had the fish cake Nicoise and would have given five stars except for the undercooked beans. Service was efficient and professional.

Visited for a Bottomless Brunch over the Easter weekend. Was a slight wait in someone coming over to take our drinks order and the restaurant itself wasn't really that busy, apart from this I have no complaints on service. We ordered our food & then a few minutes later were told we had been given the wrong menu & needed to order from a different menu, server was very apologetic and so we ordered our items & thought nothing more of it. I ordered a "Sausage & Mushroom ragu" that I was really looking forward to. When it came, it was garlic mushrooms on a slice of toasted bread with a sausage on the side, not quite what springs to mind when I ordered and doesn't really live up to the name of the dish. (I will add a picture) If I'd have been less slightly intoxicated, I would've maybe raised my concerns but, I was there to have a good time. As a way of offering some constructive criticism - It would be worth having a revamp of the menu or at least add a description so customers know what to expect. It felt very much like the dish was changed to suit the kitchen & what they had in at the time.

I have just got home from a truly lovely experience at the wonderful Alibi Halifax. I wanted to do something nice for my mum on Mothers day. Great staff a real attention to detail, with gorgeous food too. Service was second to none, the drinks excellent, certain dishes sensational. As a recommendation, the chicken liver parfait was as smooth as you like, the beef dinner wholesome and accompanied by a wide selection of beautifully cooked vegetables. The star of the show was the ginger and apple dessert! I cannot recommend this highly enough and fantastic value for money at £23 for 3 courses, I would have expected a much higher price for the quality of the experience. My Mum said she felt like a VIP - that will do for me !!Well done Alibi, see you soon.

Great setting in Somerset House with a lovely outdoor seating area that gets the sun. Lovely vibrant decor inside, trendy, modern etc. Had booked bottomless brunch. It was a beautiful sunny day so we wanted to eat it outside. We were told that we couldn't eat it outside. Wrong answer! When we asked why it was to do with the logistics of us being offered drinks constantly in the bottomless brunch which they couldn't do outside. Rubbish! Any well run establishment can do that standing on their heads. Management, management, management of staff and the day to day running! We still had a lovely afternoon. We visited Alibi last night after my friend checked the menu online. When we arrived the menu was a different one and consisted of either loaded chips/ burgers or salad with a few different small dish/ starter options. Worth mentioning at this point that we wouldn’t have booked had we seen this menu. Before talking about the food worth mentioning the wait, it was over an hour from us ordering to us getting our main course, the restaurant was busy but with the food menu I wouldn’t have expected such a delay! We are not really burger people so ordered a couple of small plates to start and then loaded fries each for main meal. The prawn popcorn was excellent! However the Pork Bao was very dry and I have to be honest that I expected more than one for the price! Onto the main dishes, my friend had the pulled pork, again very dry. My chips with goats cheese/ gravy/ fried onions actually just tasted of a well known gravy brand! I don’t think it helped that some of the chips were also undercooked and hard. The waitress did notice that we were not enjoying our meal and asked how it was, she was very apologetic with the feedback… however the manager (what we presumed was the manager) looked at us like we were crazy and just agreed to remove our main meals from the bill. We’ve been to Alibi a few times since it reopened a few years ago and 2 out of the 3 experiences have been really poor! We do value our restaurants in Halifax and eat out regularly to keep them going but we won’t be returning here!

We tried their bottomless brunch for the first time last weekend. When they say bottomless they mean bottomless, we were never left with an empty glass. The food was good, I had a chicken burger (could have done with a bit more seasoning) and my partner had a croque madam which was delicious apparently.

The whole experience was excellent, the canapes were 5*, although we didn`t have the beef sandwiches & chips, the younger ones in the party seemed to enjoy them. The staff were very obliging and professional. Couldn`t fault it.

We Called in the Alibi bar last nt having received a email saying we can have cheaper Cocktails if we show our tickets for a music gig at a local theatre, sound to good to true ? Yep we arrived pre theatre performance and then the excuses started as to why we could not have the deal, total crap service for what could of been a nice nt, hence we have told all friends on all social media to boycott this place,

My husband and i visited on boxing day and was pleasantly surprised after not knowing to expect. The staff were amazing and attentive! The food was great and the atmosphere was fab. I would highly recomend, and will definatley be going back.

We visited for bottomless brunch at the weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the atmosphere. Staff were very accommodating and drinks were refreshed (and offered) regularly. Staff noticed when drinks were running low. They also warned us when it was the last drink and when I didn’t like the cocktail they allowed a swap. They were great around allergies too. Food was nice - turkey, cranberry and stuffing sandwich as a part of the deal. Table was situated in a good place by the front windows and door - but no draft which was nice. Didn’t feel packed in.

I don’t usually do reviews because they sound cheesy but tonight I couldn’t resist. We have passed this restaurant and often commented that we should try it. Well, this evening we did. We bobbed in at teatime and were the only people in the restaurant which could have been awkward but the two lads serving made us feel very welcome. Everything was great: the food was delicious and the background music was subtle and relaxing not the usual noisy, can’t hear yourself think. It was soooo good here. The lads chatted to us, answered questions we had and didn’t shy away. I don’t know what else to add except to say it was an enjoyable hour or so.
