Came here as just wanted a quick eat, (here for a few hours for Xmas market). Service was quick and friendly, considering they were busy. Had two toasted sandwiches - bigger than your average toastie, and nice big cups of coffee. Came with salad and crisps,. - very filling they were too . The only negative was we wanted something to eat later (maybe another toastie?), and they were no longer doing them. Couldn't get anything anywhere, considering we had a long coach trip.back. However it was a.nice place to go to.

Coffee and cake is very good, just as I like it. Nice and tidy environment and heaters if it gets cold as well as blankets if needed. Shame the waitress with the black hair is so brusque, the other guy is friendly but she is just not friendly.

Absolutely amazing cake. Moist, well priced and delicious. There’s also a good selection without it being overwhelming. Only outdoor seating available but patio heaters kept us warm. The only downside was there were kegs, stools and baby chairs piled in the corner which slightly ruined the aesthetic, but my son and I enjoyed spending time together here.

Well where do I start we came to pierce hall to look at the stag cars and called at the cafe at the top they were only selling coffee in takeaway cups so we left as it's not our thing and we saw" THE BAKERY" we wandered down say what other customers were having looked nice so we sat down I ordered chicken and chorizo sandwich with latte my wife had ham and cheese pickle sandwich & a tea they were absolutely gorgeous very generously filled nice fresh soft bread coleslaw on the side along with Doritos such a tasty sandwich definitely worth a visit as this is by far the best cafe here friendly staff too so if you ever visit piecehall go to the bakery it's an absolute must 👍

The bakery that has no oven. Like a plumber with no spanner. This shambles at the piece hall thinks it’s a prime moment to sell punters cheap beer at a premium price. The Lidl’s answers to San Miguel? The Aldis answer to Estrella? No. Not at all, these piss poor lager and IPA choices at an astounding £14.00.. then they wonder why their queue isn’t as long as neighbouring bars? They’ve managed to go beyond and bullshit you with ‘proper German’ lagers, at 3.6%, your lagers about as German as David Hastlehoff. So let’s talk cake, since they can’t manage the lager correctly. This company buys in all of their cakes, yes, that’s right.. the bakery.. buys cakes. Shows how good of a baker they are, I know Greggs isn’t exactly Mr.Kipling but at least they bake their own steak bakes. If you’re gluten free, please understand that you’ll be offered a bag of Doritos to kill that sweet tooth craving, as they’ve got about as much gluten free options as warbutons.

Went a couple of weeks ago, to be told the coffee machine had just been switched off, no problem, went somewhere else in the Piece Hall which had a coffee machine switched on. Went back today, staff could do with a course on customer service, coffee was just okay, service was slow, and it wasn't busy. Won't go back, there's enough coffee shops to choose from, this is not one of them.

Lovely lunch here today. No queuing to place the order. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Tables and eating area outside was clean. We had a chicken and chorizo wrap, cheese and ham toasties, a piece of blueberry cake, cornflack tart, teapot of tea and a latte. £27 and North every penny. The toasties was huge with real sliced ham and the wrap was full of flavour. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would highly recommend. This is our new found lunch venue. We preferred the Bakery than the Deli, much more choice and better service.

Love it here. The bad reviews would not ever put me off after frequenting here for many pick me ups. Today it was chucking it down. Me and my 5 year old stayed cosy and warm under the heat lamps and they even had nice cosy blankets to keep warm, so thoughtful! The food is always hearty and enjoyable and staff friendly. My daughter is the most fussy eater you could imagine but she always wolfs a cheese toasty from the bakery!

I go to the piece hall most weekends and the bakery was always my favourite until recently. The last few times I’ve been here I’ve had to send cake back for being stale, only to be told it’s stale because it’s GF. Yesterday I visited with a friend and upon being asked if I wanted sugar I had a tug of war with the strangest waitress I’ve ever encountered. She held out a cup of sugars for me and I went to take the pot from her so I could add to my coffee and didn’t let go as of to say “I don’t trust you with all the sugar” but nothing came out of her mouth. It was so strange and so awkward me and my friend didn’t know what to do with ourselves. She later came around and asked how our food was and before we could even respond she sprung off shouting “THANK YOU”. We felt really unwelcome. On other occasions we’ve been waiting 20 minutes for a take out coffee. Real shame and hope it returns to its former glory!

The Bakery is a charming wine bar with a fantastic location. The outdoor seating is particularly delightful and makes for a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a sunny day. The ambiance is pleasant and relaxed, making it an ideal place for a casual drink or a catch-up with friends. Although I didn't try the food, the menu looked appetizing, and I've heard positive things from others who have dined here. Overall, I would recommend The Bakery for anyone looking for a laid-back atmosphere and a great location to enjoy a drink or a meal.

I feel like the reviews need a healthy dose of realism and balance. It's an absolutely delightful place to sit for refreshments in the heart of the Piece Hall. The service is excellent, especially considering that once a table departs it is immediately filled with another customer. I've been there on busy event days at the Piece Hall and man do the staff work hard to keep everyone fed and watered. They're always apologetic if they think service has been a little slow, but it isn't, you're just behind other people who ordered first. Cake is A+ cake. We come by multiple times a month for coffee and cake and it is always exceptional. Sizes aren't small at all and the price is no different to anywhere selling freshly made cakes of the variety sold here. Toasties here are also cheesy pieces of magnificence. How busy this place is is testament to how great it is. Otherwise, stop expecting instant gratification and appreciate some things in life are worth waiting (more than 3 minutes) for. Ps - only complaint is they once had a Snickers cake in 2021. It was glorious. I haven't seen it on the menu since, which is sub-optimal.

I echo the earlier review - this eatery is badly run and not prepared for the Christmas season. We came here yesterday and the service was really slow but we got a couple of cakes and hot chocolates. Today we a different story - we queued for ages whilst others were waiting to be served. We eventually got to the front of the queue to be told that they’re no longer serving food as they had run out of most stuff. I can’t believe in 2022 that they can’t get their stock levels right. The Piece Hall should have a rethink and get rid of these and bring in someone that is serious about business! We ended up next door at Trading Rooms, which was brilliant albeit more expensive. If you’re looking for coffee and cakes, and that sort of thing, give this place a miss and go to The Deli!

Great location! Sat in the sun. Agree with the other reviewers that service is incredibly slow. Took a while to get served and for my decaf latte and cake to arrive. The decaf latte was so lovely and a great size and nicely served in a coffee cup and saucer. The cake was nice but a really small slice for £3.50. Would I go back? Yes, but just for a drink as the location is great.

Great location in the Piece Hall. Good sourdough bread sandwiches although I'd prefer more salad leaves and fewer tortillas on the side plus a more generous filling to compensate for the thickness of the bread. Cakes looked good and a few choices but too full to try. Service is on the slow side. High average, didn't quite deserve the very good rating alas Friendly staff

Went with parents today for a bite for lunch. Chilly day in Halifax. Could not fault the service or food with these guys and gals. Toasted sandwiches are immense, not your standard cheese and ham toastie. Soup was homemade and really good: had as an accompaniment to a toasted sandwich. Service was spot on, really friendly without being overbearing. I can't identify with some previous negative reviews and would say give this place a go. May be moving to Halifax soon so it was a really lovely experience while showing family around potential new home. Thanks guys, will be back.

Enjoyed the pie I had for lunch but only side dish offered was peas (no chips or veg or salad) . This restaurant offers a very small menu . Waiter told us before we sat down that everything on the menu was available. After choosing we found out that 2 out of the four of our choices were not on today!?! So in summary We will try another eatery next time - loads with a few metres .

I always come to The Bakery every time we visit the Piece Hall! It has quick service, reasonably priced products and delicious cakes with very generous servings. The selection always has something new to try This time we tried their Pie and Peas which was equally as nice. Visited today to be left waiting for 15 minutes to be served even though one of the male employees knew we were waiting but insisted on talking to his friends. When we did finally get to place our order we were only told after a further 10 minutes that they had run out of our choice of pie, at which point we just left and went elsewhere. Terribley run establishment, definitely won't be back.

Had a brilliant birthday meal. The lady on the bar was absolutely lovely, chatted to us about mispronounced beer orders (we’re bartenders as well!) on a quiet Sunday night! Had the mixed grill - absolutely great value for £20! Meat was cooked to order (a rarity in the past places I’ve been for mixed grills 🙄) and the portion size was HUGE for the price! Absolutely chuffed. Missus had the Sunday roast wrap - couldn’t finish it but she had great things to say as well! Molto Bene!
