We called in quite early on our way to a concert at the Grand Theatre and were not disappointed! We were given a warm welcome and prompt, friendly service. The food was fresh and tasty, with some unusual items on the menu which we were pleased to sample. By the time we left, every table was taken and there was a lovely busy atmosphere. We’ll certainly be visiting again next time we’re in Clitheroe.

We had to sit in the entrance to order a drink and look at the menu while they got our table ready, the restaurant was almost empty. Once ordered they took us to our table. The food was pretty tasteless and not very warm. Once we had finished our meal, they brought over a complimentary drink, which made us feel they wanted us to leave. No offer of dessert or even coffee. We will not return.

We had originally booked a table for 8.45 but popped in to ask if we could change the time to 9.30 which they agreed. I think this was a mistake as we were the only people in the restaurant and treated like a total inconvenience, no conversation told we had a time limit to order food very abrupt, standing at bar just waiting for us to go. Food was way too salty and chicken so dry. Decided to let the floor manager know how we felt but he had no interest totally dismissing us, laughing at us while we talked. Been using this restaurant for twenty years as it’s our local but never again.

Been on my bucket list places to eat at for a long time and was pleasantly surprised. It’s your standard canteen style affair with a good choice of regional staples, a vegetable option meats and bread. The spice level is mild/medium and on the smaller size but put together it’s adequate. Very flavourful and authentic, price wise very reasonable for central London and very popular with locals.

We have been coming here for years but on the last few visits the service was intermittent and the food not as good as usual. Tonight was the last straw. Arrived 6:25 and ordered poppadoms promptly. I accept the restaurant was busy but with only two staff serving, there was a lot going out of the kitchen in paper bags with those who had come for a sit down meal left to wait. The starters arrived moderately promptly but the onion bhaji I ordered were the worst I have ever tasted in 41 years off eating curry. Cold and uncooked. We waited for the main course but saw other tables who entered after us served ahead of us. We gave them until 7:45 and left. My wife paid them for what we had eaten but there was neither apology nor recognition of the appalling service. We will not be going there again.,

Be prepared for: Prices 20-30% higher than shown on menu! To pay £7 for pint of Coke Zero! Pay for any extra condiments! To be left waiting while they prioritise and deal with takeaways! Curries that taste like casseroles/stews with frozen vegetables & partially cooked naan! A LOT of BS from the manager/owner! No wonder this place is always empty! NEVER again!!
