Really good meal here - good range of dishes on menu with a few we hadn’t tried before elsewhere- very tasty, well seasoned food, excellent service- we’ll be back

First time we have been here and won’t be the last When we go out and walk on to any restaurant I love a warm welcome as if you are a person of value spending your hard earned money and here you definitely get that lovely welcome Food was fantastic which we all enjoyed but as always over ordering didn’t go a miss so was offered a doggy bag which we accepted Definitely worth a visit you won’t be disappointed I’m sure in any way Well done all at Rajkumar see you again soon

We visited with family this week and the food was absolutely delicious. The team there are so friendly and welcoming plus the building itself is stunning creating a lovely ambience. Highly recommend.

We decided to try the Rajkumar for a takeaway meal for four, and we were absolutely delighted with our meal. It was one of the tastiest takeout curries we’ve had in a long time. Flavourful thick sauces and very good quantities of meat/prawns. We had a chicken Bhuna, chicken Haryali Masala, king prawn Korai, and usual pilau rice, sides and sundries - it was all delicious and excellent! Very impressed, and online ordering was easy and food arrived exactly on time. Rajkumar will now be our new Indian restaurant to order from.

This restaurant is a great place to eat and have a laugh with your friends and family the food is excellent and the staff are wonderful and you can have a laugh with them too I’m always winding them up.

We have eaten here many times over many years and the service and food has been excellent and then not so good. Tonight not only was the food so fresh and of high stand the service was brilliant.

This used to be one of our favourite places to eat Indian food. I'm sorry to say that our experience on this latest visit wasn't a good one. My main meal was very bland and the tarka dahl, which has always been the best, was watery and not that good. One waiter in particular was too much in our faces. Sadly, we all felt that this restaurant seemed to have lost its refinement. I doubt we'll go back.

Easily the best curry house I've been in and the best chicken I've ever had (we had the Haryali Tikka-Masala). The food was all unbelievably delicious, I can't recommend this place enough. Had a fantastic meal with my Dad here last night. We had a chicken achari and a chicken shashlick bhuna, both were extremely tasty. The waiter who looked after us did a fabulous job. We can’t wait to go back.

Just had a fantastic curry from the guys here. Lamb vindaloo absolutely Lovely. Was going to phone them and tell them but thought no one would know that I had, so thought leave a review and was surprised to read the previous two review saying how bad it was. So i did some research on the previous reviewers one conpliant approximately 5 times about the Raj Kumar (if it was that bad why go back so many times) and the other complianed about everywhere he went, so to me that's an agenda on their part. I would whole heartily recommend this restaurant with no hesitation. Well done Guys keep up the good work.

Due to the current COVID 19 outbreak the restaurant's seating area is sadly closed. However, they are still open providing delicious take away meals. Last night I had the Spicy Chicken Tikka Massala which was excellent.

Tasty food. Cosy ambience. The owner is extremely kind, professional and mannered. One of the finest Indian restaurants. Choose your spice strength though. There are options.

Was here with a friend for her early birthday treat. First time I've been to this restaurant and it won't be the last. Has a nice ambiance and great staff. We weren't rushed to order our curry, waiter was happy to come back after a few minutes. I had a chicken korma with coconut rice. Both were very tasty, rice had things mixed in with it so it was quite colourful, a pleasant change. After we'd eaten my friend had a Baileys and it came over ice in a beautiful crystal glass. Wow, Would have given 5 stars but the strawberry cheesecake was still frozen when it was served to me. Left it a little while but it wasn't going to defrost so they took it away and brought me another one which I was able to eat and enjoy. Definitely recommend this great curry house.

Been to rajkumar yesterday after reading the good reviews . The service is really poor, food seems reheated not fresh. Chose to have “Bombay very hot chicken “ which was mild , “tadka dal” had no spices at all seemed like just been boiled and blended like baby food. After dinner felt terrible , would definitely not go back again !

On a Sunday they offer a Buffet and open till 3pm and we prefer late lunchingwe never take buffets so we went to a la carte, we arived just before 1:30 ish and they were happy to have us as I had telephoned ahead.Building is enchanting from outside, inside well presented and clean, staff extremely happy, friendly and accomodatingthe food came out fresh and wonderful not heated up.We were greedy to order 2 different breads all fresh and delicious: garlic nan and parathaStarters sheek kebab and papdums and prawn puriMains: Chicken pasanda,Sides, Bindi, tarka dhal and saag paneer, pilau ricealso I got fresh green chillies so i could eat with my foodDefinately going back soon

We recently visited as a large (ish) group of friends. This was a second visit as we had enjoyed the food previously, and thought it a nice place for a meet up, this time with partners. The food was and service were both very good, and reasonably priced. We weren’t rushed as is often the case in Indian restaurants and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

1st visit to the restaurant and was greeted by happy staff. No booking but we're seated quickly and quickly asked if we would like drinks and Pappadom's. Prawn Puree to start, not disappointed, best I"ve had to date. Staff were attentive without being pushy and passionate about working there.Main courses were wonderful and Nan bread to die for.Best I have had for a long time.Food was hot and veery fresh. We had a very enjoyable meal last night, the food was delicious, you could taste all the different spices and flavours. All the food we had was freshly cooked and hot. The waiters are friendly and attentive. This is the fourth time we have eaten there since Christmas and the food is always very good but last night was exceptional.

A revised menu has a few new dishes added, my wife had a citrus fruit inspired prawn dish Satkora and I had a king prawn Achari.

Interesting to read the two reviews dated Oct 13th who waited ages for a takeaway. We ate in the restaurant on Oct 13th and waited ages for our meal. Seated with our menus at 7.15 we were brought drinks and poppadums quickly but did not get our ordered meal until 9pm. While we waited we watched order after order being taken out for delivery and did wonder if we would get a quicker meal if we went home and rang for a takeaway! The three stars is because, when the food finally came, it was delicious. Would not recommend it if you wanted a quick meal.

Promised delivery within the hr called after an hr and 15 told delivery driver on way. Chased half hr later. Hang up on me and abusive staff. I have a hungry 6 Yr old with no food 2 hrs later

Lovely food, garlic chicken chilli masala was great. Hot and spicy .. naan was light and crispy at the edges. Friendly service too.. nothibg but praise. Will be back.

We visited this place with friends following recommendations. It’s a lovely really old Tudor building and a great setting for an Indian restaurant. We booked ahead as it was a Friday night and are aware of how busy it gets. On arrival we received a warm welcome from the staff and were seated in a nice quiet area. The menu is very easy to navigate and has a great selection of traditional and unusual dishes. I had the salmon curry which I have never tried before and this was fabulous. The value for money was excellent and the food was delicious, we will be coming back for the famous Sunday lunch buffet! I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want a great meal and value for money.

We have not been to the Rajkumar for a while and so thought we would pop in for a meal with friends. As always the staff were great but the food was exceptional. We were told that there was a new chef and have to say has done a great job. Will be back soon. Well worth a visit.

Travelling back from Guildford on a Saturday evening and were very hungry. This place had caught our eye on the way out as it was an unusual looking Indian restaurant in a Tudor building situated in the high street. Once inside we were soon seated despite not having booked. The place was pretty full and had a vibrant atmosphere. I would imagine this place was once a pub now converted into an Indian Restaurant. The decor was a little tired in places as were the carpets paintwork and furniture.

We were a table of four and we all had different mains that, inevitable when you know each other well, we all had a taste of. The selections we made ranged from a "standard" chicken tikka massala to beautifully green-coloured massala called Hayiali (which is made with spinach, mint and clearly lots of coriander). Firstly, it was clear that the meals had been freshly cooked, with the chicken being particularly good. Secondly, the vegetable dishes were made with a variety of seasonal vegetable that had obviously been cut by hand. Our hearts always sink when we see what can easily be identified as being straight from a bag of frozen mixed vegetables (and who thinks it is a good idea to have sweetcorn in a vegetable curry?). Lastly, it was the flavours that really came through; great breadth as well as depth, with heat being just an element of the taste. I honestly can't remember the last time we all fell silent as we enjoyed the food. Genuinely a lovely experience and, based on this visit, happy to recommend.

It was a great visit with the family we went for the Tuesday special meal you do get loads off food for the price you pay however you do have to pay extra for some Special dishes I think that is fair for the price it is . the food was great and the service was excellent with a cheeky banter I do like that and the atmosphere is nice and cosy definitely will be back .

Party of 6 ordered the set menu, but were told that certain items were not included. The person taking the order, whom I assume was the manager said "I say whats on the set menu, thats how it works"

Both Diet Coke and beer were out of condition. Some dishes in flavour and quality were just about average below (bland) others were quite poor (unbalanced). Later realised we were also overcharged on the Tuesday night banquet offer.

I always use Raj Kumar when ever I order an Indian take away, and travel the extra as I know it is worth it! It is the best in the area by far. Their food is delicious, and their service is excellent! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Indian food, you will not be disappointed!

Just two couples enjoying a Saturday evenings catch up over an Indian meal. Warmly welcoming with good humour and excellent table service. Food was great and a range of beers and soft drinks helped the evening along too. Left stuffed and happy!

Have been to the restaurant but decided to try a home delivery. We were told around 40 m I notes but it arrived in 20. Meal was hot and very tasty.

We went for a meal on Saturday evening, with my family. The restaurant was very busy, we were given a cordial welcome and prompt service was provided instead of the place being busy. When the food arrived it was impeccable, must admit it can be compared to a top quality London restaurant standard.

Visited this place last night and were very very disappointed.The worst food and service I have ever experienced at an Indian restaurant. The food was not as described on the menu and when it did finally arrive there were missing mains, rice and side dishes. The staff were rude and patronising. Would not return even if they offered us a free meal for all four of us. Uck !!!

Tried here for the first time last night . Delivery took hour and quarter, one out of 5 chicken dishes ordered was lamb !!!! Food was quite nice but cold . Not tempted to order again unfortunately.

Cold welcome, had to ask for drinks two times in non busy restaurant, two of the staff have not had a clue on the menu, no one checked if meal was ok, no one asked if we needed anything else, no one offered another wine not even noticed or stopped to offer another drink ... food bland, not much taste to it, not much curry taste ...

Evening started with one drink being forgotten and the guy who took the food order looked quite annoyed I pointed this out ... we asked two different members of staff a question about a starter and they had no idea.... another guy who took the drink order struggled with English... doors arrived and was quite bland very disappointing. I have been eating at this restaurant for many years both with my family and on Buisness meal the staff always make an effort to make everyone feel welcome and the food is exceptional I would recommend this restaurant to anyone you will not be disappointed.

First and last time at this restaurant. The food was average. Meat tough. I had the Tuesday banquet. Not such a banquet. They charged me more for a starter. When it is clearly advertised any starter. With the exclusions of it appears prawns and duck. So not sure why I was charged more. The food came. It was average. Had better. The service was appalling. I eventually got up to pay. I mentioned I did not get my coffee. Which is part of the banquet. I was told by an extremely rude guy that if I wanted the coffee I had to ask. I then said but it’s part of the offer. Again being very rude I had to ask for it. I asked him why did you not offer it to me then. He shrugged his shoulders.

We used to like Raj Kumar’s eating in or take outs. No more thank you popdums stinks as cooked in the fat which was supposed to be changed couple years ago!!! Take out shish kebab without any salad... madras was horrid! Never ever! Spend you pounds elsewhere, they should get a chef in to the kitchen

This is no better or no worse than "Indian" restaurants throughout the UK, serving exactly what you would expect to find in any of them.

The service is excellent as you would expect. Light humour with the restaurant team adds a touch of class. Menu is very elaborate and finished superbly, the taste even better! Would highly recommend if you love spicy food

Excellent take away, good wide ranging menu, swift and reliable service from friendly staff. All in all great value for money . Restaurant is also impressive should you want a sit down meal.

We arrived at 1pm Sunday and asked about the buffet. We were told to wait 20 minutes, as, apparently, some Sunday's no one arrives, so the food was cooked especially. A selection of salad, 5 condiments and 9 dishes arrived on time, all to ourselves. More people arrived as we left and the Sunday buffet is on offer lunch time and in the evening. Great service, great food and great value. I left a big tip, which is rare ! After some bad eating out experiences recently, this was very refreshing.
