Best food great people and service

Food was good and the service attentive. Parking can be a problem but not on this occasion. We will certainly return but would like to see more unusual dishes.

What a delightful experience. Our first take away since moving to the area. We were extremely impressed by the food and the service. Will be back!

There were 25 of us for a farewell dinner. There was no welcome, just hard stares as if to ask what were we doing there. There were two long tables laid for us. We arrived at 5:30 and starters were served after about a half hour wait. Starter plates were not cleared. We piled them up at the end of the table in the hope of food arriving at some point. They were not picked up until a couple of dinners arrived on one of the tables. Dinner hadn't arrived for most of us and by 7:30 I had to leave without eating. They grudgingly made my food up as a takeaway and I had to wait 10 minutes for that. No apologies. Only two waiters, one sort of friendlyish the other totally could not care less. No pleasantries. As 8:00 approached I was told another couple left without eating as the wife had an 8:00 shift at work. They also left with a takeaway. Food portions were very small. Other couples at separate tables seemed to be eating quite happily so were obviously served first. At the end of the evening the waiter said they were £100 short paid. One of our party is an accountant and there was no way we made a mistake. The waiter checked, and admitted that it was they that had made the mistake. Personally, I felt sorry for the man who organised this trip out for us as it was a complete mess up by non caring staff. Would not recommend. A big commendation for our party for being so patient and polite.

Never personally stayed into eat a meal, have always ordered for take out as busy life style doesn’t allow for me to enjoy to full extent but I have always had pleasant interactions with the staff, very polite and welcoming. Food has always been amazing and I have not had any issues whatsoever. Could not fault them at all, great service and food!

We live locally and love this place. Staff are always very friendly and the food is spot on.

Our last visit was pre pandemic but we dropped in here yesterday for lunch. My sea bass dish “moolee” was described as hot but was rather bland. Nice flavour though and improved by the addition of green chilis. My husbands Nan was light and fluffy and not too sweet. One g and t, 2 starters, 2 mains and a bottle of Chianti came in at around £100… Staff a bit distracted by workmen there and atmosphere a bit down but I enjoyed our meal.

Great staff, very helpful and with a sense of humour. Lamb vindaloo and King prawn vindaloo very nice and not just full of lumps of potato in spicy tomato sauce. Rice wasnt sweaty. Naan really well made so wasn't like eating shoe leather. This was a TA but would definitely go for a sit down next time. Not super cheap but then again not just trays of oil so you do most definitely get what you pay for. Will be going back again as its nice to have proper food than go for something greasy and cheap then regret it the day after.

Attractive decor, plenty of space around comfortable seating. Delicious food. Had a very tasty lamb biriyani and a delicious lamb in coconut dish, the side of sag aloo was delicious as was the freshly made parata. Have eaten here Ona Sunday evening too from the extensive gourmet night menu.

First time visit to tried a takeaway for one. To be honest the size of the meal. One starter, one main course and two side dishes of vegetable was easily enough for two adults. That’s not a complaint but simply a recognition of portion sizes. All the food was very good and very flavoured. Spoke to a chap who was also collecting a takeaway, he’s been using this place for 10years and does a 20mile round trip to collect his food which is a good indication. Highly recommend and will return.

Was the worst the curry I have ever had was like eating chilli water

We are local to this restaurant and have consistently felt in a juxtaposition whether to leave a review! The food is fantastic but the staff are so rude! We really felt that we could hopefully persevere and overcome the staff hurdle but alas they continue to be alarmingly non communicative and disinterested!!! We tried and we tried! There is a reason this country restaurant, with exceptional food is always empty!! So sad! Our complements to the amazing chef 🙏

Really good went for a basic meal here with friends curry and rice no extras or frills. They did gluten free for my friend and brought me a Rogan vindaloo hot. It was really good. Just annoyingly didn't take any pictures on this occasion. Will be back !!

Fabulous friendly service. Loved the tastes and the food all appeared to be freshly cooked. Restaurant was clean and somewhat busy despite it being early evening. Great atmosphere will definitely be back if in the area again and will definitely recommend.

We've eaten here on numerous occasions and until now the service has always been OK with good food and friendly, courteous staff. This time however even with an almost empty restaurant (two other diners and a drinker at the bar) the service was appalling. Poppadoms & drinks were ordered and appeared in an acceptable time but then we waited forever for the menus to appear, followed by another long wait for the waiter to reappear and take the order. The food appeared and was fine but again we endured another overly long wait for the waiter to reappear to take the order for coffees & another jug of water. The coffees appeared but the water didn't! We summonsed the waiter in order to get the bill and yet again another long wait for the waiter to reappear. Sadly the waiter had spent most of the evening deep in conversation with the punter at the bar, nice for the punter but not so thrilling for the diners! The waiter had to be summonsed away from his pal at the bar in order for us to settle up. We will be returning but hope for less shoddy treatment next time...

Great Indian food, first time eating in at the restaurant. Really good and attentive service. However upon paying the bill, I added a healthy tip to take the total (for two people) to £70…. I could slightly see the waiter added a de pence on the end, didn’t offer the recipient. I checked my mobile app while in car and my suspicion of a sneaky 25 pence was indeed added to the bill. I went back in confronted them was paid the 25 pence, slightly apologetic, but they wanted me out quickly. Be cautious and check your bill, insist on a receipt. I got a feeling they are doing this on mass, few pence here and there will accumulate

As a local in Pulborough, I really like the food here. For a village Indian I have been surprised with how tasty and good value the food is here. I have only ever had take outs so can't rate the service, but the madras is lovely and hot, the breads are always fresh, and they do a good selection of vegetarian sides as well.

Terrible food and terrible service, curry came out 15mins before rice and then curry stone cold very watery no flavour wouldn’t recommend

Dreadful, absolutely dreadful. Several dishes missing on our take away. The collection was booked in but was 45 minutes late, as were other people we were with. Tried to sort it on the phone but it was impossible. Will revert to our usual curry place in Billingshurst from how on.

Been twice and the best food, service and value - and I’ve eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants

Prices on their website menu are incorrect despite me calling and double checking them. Upon arrival I was charged £7 more . Not happy .

Before ordering a takeaway I called and checked if the prices on their website were up to date and correct. Yes was the answer. What you see is what you pay. Total of our food should have been £64.15. On arrival to collect and pay the price had increased to £71.15! Clearly the website prices were wrong. Food was bland and chicken was tough. Very disappointed and won't go back.

Incredible Indian! Although the initial welcoming was a bit disappointing, the service was great and the food was absolutely fantastic. Each curry had a very different flavour and very tender and moist chicken breast and lamb. The garlic naan we had was the best I’ve had, very light and fluffy. Definitely recommend.

Stopped in on our way home from dropping our son at Gatwick. The staff could do with smiling and actually engaging with the customer. When ordering asked if I could have my curry slightly spicy, unfortunately when it came was bland and lacked taste. Food ok, nothing special, garlic naan was the best thing we ordered. No atmosphere, no serviettes on our table had to get some off another one. No warm cloths to clean hands at the end of our meal. Wouldn’t visit again.

So India is the Best Indian restaurant in Pulborough, and surrounding areas. Food is packed with flavour, plenty of dishes to choose from and the staff always serve with a smile! This is a regular place for myself and my family to eat, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 100% recommend anyone to try it, you won’t regret it!

I booked this restaurant for my sons 22nd birthday just because I've driven past it loads of times and thought it was time to try it. I did put on the online booking form its was for a birthday but the staff didn't mention it on the day. Would have been a nice touch if they had. The service was good and attentive. The only criticism is maybe they were a bit to keen to clear the starters away. It wasn't busy and we weren't in a rush. I asked them the leave the dips for the poppadoms so we could enjoy them with our main. This they did. The food arrived hot, together and looked clean, as you can see from the photos. It tasted really good. For six beers, starters and mains for four with nan breads and a few extras it came to £110. Not bad value i thought. I've attached the menu prices so you can see how much your favourite curry costs. If the service had been a bit less hasty and a acknowledgement of the birthday it would have got 5 stars but I will definitely go again. There was vegetarian options and ample free parking.

The best Hariyali chicken curry ever!

Discovered this excellent Indian 🇮🇳 restaurant during lockdown. Since then, both takeaway and dining in have been consistently good. Extensive menu, some unique dishes, always hot and plenty of it. Served quickly, friendly and never had a wrong order. Well worth the 5 mile drive

I recommend great Indian food, the best in the area, large portions, very nice and cordial service, absolute five stars with a pure heart.

Despite most restaurants being full today Mothering Sunday, When I went to collect my take out meal I was surprised to see the restaurant empty at 1pm. This was an indicator as to the probability to the quality of food. No surprises - very timid, bland and uninteresting food. Will not go again.

Absolutely delicious, we have had 2 eat in meals and one takeaway, the food is always so fresh and tasty. We will most definitely be back again. Would recommend

One of the best Indian restaurant around West Sussex

We have intended to try So India for a while so visited for first time with friends. Initially service seemed ok although all quite quick so we’d finished our main within an hour. Food was quite good, lovely hot plates, though rice dish was just luke warm. It became very obvious they wanted us out as we were the only table there (& positioned squashed up against the wall for some reason when the restaurant wasn’t at all busy when we arrived). Our friend had asked for another beer but without even asking if anyone else wanted coffee they thrust the bill on the table & the beer never arrived! We were quite taken aback & can’t understand their actions as there were people waiting for takeaways in the entrance as we left. They shouldn’t be open for diners on weekdays if they don’t want them. We shall not be returning!

Great food and the staff are always nice!

Failed pub building appearance from outside but very smart and tasteful within. Seriously needs better entrance lighting above highly dangerous hidden step from small car park. We ordered take away on line that was easy to do. Arrived a little early for pick up but made ourselves known. Got a grumpy "you will have to wait" in reply. We were happy to do that anyway. Food reasonably priced and well packed. Tandoori mixed grill was plentiful and decent quality, accompanying salad and Ratia a bit poor. Chicken Madras VERY hot and more like Vindaloo, it contained plenty of nicely cooked chicken but spoiled by obvious over spicing with chilli powder. Mushroom bargee was not great. Looked like tinned sliced mushroom with something liked Garam Masalla stirred in. Pilau rice was pretty good but wet at the bottom. All in all not bad but have eaten much better elsewhere.

Our new favourite Indian takeaway. Conveniently located on A29 Codmore Hill, just outside Pulborough. Extensive menu and they will prepare special dishes for you, if asked. We call and collect; but there is nice restaurant on the premises if you prefer to dine out. Food is good quality, plenty of it and cooked fresh to order, hot when collected. Average time is 30mins.

A great choice and the owner very welcoming and helpful with information about the food. Service was very good and happy to make adjustments. Food was delicious, especially the garlic chilli prawns. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Great curry and service from the team

Had the most pleasant experience with the lovely Ghoffar. They were in the middle of a very busy period and he spent lots of time going over various dishes and what alergens we're in them. I usually just get a blanket can't cater when I have called others but not here! He was fab. He even arranged for the dishes that weren't suitable to be altered just for us. What an amazing service, I can't get over how patient and kind he was. Highly recommend.

We regularly visit So India in Pulborough, last time was yesterday. As it was the final day of “Eat Out to Help Out” it was especially busy, but service was efficient and prompt, the food, as always well up to standard. We had spinach and lentil curry, and garlic and chilli king predawn, with their excellent NaN bread. The standard far exceeds even London restaurants like Dishoom, highly recommended. We booked an early meal at this restaurant as part of the eat out to help out scheme. During the evening the restaurant became extremely busy with a large number of people grouped by the door around the reception area as they waited to be seated. The food and service was good but despite the use of hand sanitizers as you entered the restaurant there were no other precautions taken. As customers vacated their table they changed the tablecloth but no other cleansing in between customers were done nor any social distancing in between tables were taken into account. The waiters didn’t wear masks, handled our credit card and didn’t attempt to control the waiting customers mingling around the exit. A pity but wouldn’t feel comfortable going back.

Food was really nice. Sadly the staff seemed to have forgotten that with 'hospitality' also is "hospitable". Very rushed and unfriendly team. This was our first time to So India, on a quiet Monday. We have just moved in locally and had hoped to make this a regular place. We'll certainly try it again and hope the staff are a little more friendly.

Was ok for an Indian very well pricked but food average would go back though

It was my first time in here. I ordered take away from here and order Prawn curry but I got Chicken instead. By the way, the one who took the order did not even repeat the order. I rang back to the restaurant and tell them it was a wrong item. I said I will take a chicken back to get a prawn but they said I can keep the chicken and they will make the new one for me. I went back to the restaurant and they charge me for the prawn dish .. It wasn't my fault isn't it ? They said "I thought you ordered chicken" so I have to pay £13.95 with no discount. I got Chicken that I don't want and I have to pay £13.95 extra to get my prawn dish. Never seen the restaurant like this before. Better to go to Billingshurst than here. Food is cheaper service is better. Will never come back again !!

This place always has nice food. But they've slipped up on the hygiene, there were flys in the restaurant, in the middle of the winter. Not a good sign! Hence the stars!

8very disappointed with curry very average not a lot of lavoir ,its normally very good but at £62 without a starter not sure if we will return

Booked a table for New Year's Eve. We've been many times before, but not when they've had an event on. The service was a bit slow, due to the amount of take away's that had been ordered, but as we aimed to be out until after 12, this wasn't an issue. The food was the usual high standard, but we were surprised when we saw most of the people leaving at around 10. Although there was no DJ, the music was good and as there was only 2 tables left, we had our own private party, including watching the fireworks at midnight and a bottle of fizz, supplied by the management. Best New Year in ages!

A warm ambiance and relaxing evening on arrival which was greatly appreciated on a horribly wet night.We enjoyed the dishes which were beautifully cooked plus a good service.At the end of the meal we experienced a miscalculation of the bill which was hastily corrected by the manager. We are sure due to A pure discrepancy rather than anything else.Will definitely be visiting again shortly.

We often eat here in groups of between 4-6 people. We have yet to have a bad experience, the food is always good, the staff friendly and service excellent. We will keep returning!

My friend and I meet at the So India to share a curry and a catch up every now and then. The food is always good and the service is always friendly and professional.

Food is nice with a wide choice. Lots of dishes that you wouldn't see elsewhere. Staff are polite and attentive. There is a small car park that is directly onto a busy road.

We haven’t been for a meal for a while but decided to have a take away.My chicken Jalfrezi was bland to say the least and my husbands Balti chicken tikka masala was also bland. In addition, the potato and cauliflower side dishes were equally bland.. must have a new chef in there because the sauce wasn’t that light and bland.....Disappointed .

We arrived at 1.35 to be told that they were closing at two o,clock and we must order straight away. Which we did but we were very surprised at such a rude welcome. The meal was very rushed. This is a restaurant that we go to quite often but now I think we will think again before returning.

Hi, I am from Perth, Australia visiting family. We got a take away this evening. Absolutely fabulous, cannot fault the food. Wish we were here longer as would love to have gone to the restaurant which looks really nice.

Went here Yesterday evening we had a great meal. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable and the price was good. Highly recommend this restaurant and will go again.

Just had another great experience here. We started with Popadoms and then had Chicken Chat and Lamb Chat which were both exceptional. Then Chicken Passanda which is always great and Chicken Curry, both were delicious and then a Peshwari Nan and pilaff rice, excellent.The restaurant was very busy with lots of takeaway collections and the service was very attentive and we had a great time. Highly recommended.

Only had a take-away, so not a very well-informed review. The service was charming and the food was ready at the predicted time. Hence three stars. We ordered three varying types of dishes and as two out of three of us had lived and travelled extensively in India and the Far East and were used to preparing curried food, some expertise was involved. The food was oddly disappointing, in that no matter which dish we tried, they were all strangely sweet. I have not yet taken the trouble to comment to the management. It may be that this is their way of cooking and the restaurant was full when I collected the food, but not one for me again.

A great selection of curries available from the usual to the slightly more unusual chef specials

The waiters were friendly but took a long time to take our order and then took a long time to bring the food over, we waited an hour and a half for our mains to arrive.

The front of house Manager was very friendly and helpful recommending dishes we would not necessarily have tried. Service was a bit slow at times and we thought the temperature of the main meals could have been higher by heating the plates.

I have been here a few times and always get a warm welcome. The naans are massive and so tasty and the curries are always cooked to perfection. The guys who work there are really nice too. Will definitely be back soon.

Always consistent in their quality of food.

We visited last Tuesday with friends but was really disappointed. There was a party of people and the four of us do not busy. We ordered four different curry’s the sauce looked like babies food from a liquidiser chicken was fatty for two of us and it was luke warm . Veg was just cold. We told the waiter straight away his reply was what do you expect me to do and refused the offer to try it,then walked away. He never came back until we ask for bill and just grunted.

Popped in as I was passing Pulborough with my son and daughter. Decided to try out the cuisine as I’ve visited the So India Felpham a few times.
