Booked for a party of 16 for a Saturday night, absolutely hassle free. When I had a query for the restaurant I received prompt and helpful email replies and was very happy with the customer service I received. On the night we were seated in an area away from the other diners which was rather nice, seeing as we were a fairly large party. The service was prompt yet relaxed — at no point did we feel as though the staff were trying to rush us through our meal. Considering the number of our party, food and drinks all arrived promptly and were of excellent quality. I have used Yak & Yeti several times in the past and would always recommended their butter chicken. The food portions are very generous and all have a rich flavour. Some of the spicier dishes with a little bit of a kick have a nice warming flavour. My friends and I ordered a selection for of main dishes to make sure we had multiple options to try. We all left with clean plates that night! Everything was delicious and wonderful to eat. The staff were amazing and very attentive — they regularly checked up on us and the manager came to speak with us a couple of times to make sure that everything was okay and that we were having a good time. When we settled the bill the staff were very patient with us, as our party wanted to pay separately and they showed us an itemised bill which enabled us to work out what we should pay with ease. Overall we had a very enjoyable night at Yak & Yeti Colchester. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a decent curry with a slight difference due to the Nepalese influence in some of the flavours. Whether a small group or a large party, I have found Yak & Yeti to always be excellent and would definitely return over and over again.

First time we have dined at Mowgli, and overall it was a lovely experience, the manager dealt with us and explained how the menu works - The dishes aren’t your typical Indian Restaurant fare but based on Street Food and with smaller portions, ‘tapas’ style. We were advised that most dining couples choose 4-5 dishes which we did. Basmati rice, Bhel puri (like a Bombay mix with added dressing and a light puri ), Sticky Chicken (my favourite dish - sweet, savoury, spicy and sticky all in one), Agra Ginger Chicken ( nicely flavoured but we would have liked more ginger) and Picnic Potato Curry ( a tomato based curry, quite mild and on the sour side - again a nice dish) . We couldn’t manage all five plates so took most of the Bhel puri home. So next time we’ll pick 3 dishes plus rice to share and maybe a naan. We enjoyed the food and service so much that we’ve booked to go again with our daughter and partner, but at a busier time on a weekend, rather than a quiet weekday lunchtime.

Went to the Castle for a meal on a Saturday and evening and weren't to be disappointed. Put simply, it was gorgeous. The staff were friendly and happy the entire duration of our stay and couldn't do enough to make the meal enjoyable. The curries were a flamin' triumph, literally and we just didn't want the meals to end. Every mouthful was beautiful, the meats fell apart in your mouth and the rices were tasty in the extreme. If you go to an Indian in the future, go to The Castle

This was our first time at this restaurant. It was chosen because of previous reviews and a location suitable for everyone. First impressions were good as the restaurant was warm and clean. We booked for 7 pm so quite early. The owner made us welcome and the waiter was attentive but not intrusive. The menu was varied but we ordered our usual meal ..very predictable but it arrived and we were very pleased. The pickle tray was well presented and we proceeded to the starter and main meal. By then the restaurant began to fill up and I noticed a steady stream of takeaway meals leaving. The restaurant is upstairs so some people with disabilities may find it challenging. I’m pleased to say the toilets were very clean and the hand dryer was working well. The restaurant has a 5 star hygiene rating. The prices and menu can be viewed online and seemed fair with no hidden charges. A good night was had by all.

We were staying in the Travelodge over the road and as it was chucking it down we decided a quick scamper to Kismet would be sensible. I’m glad we did as we really enjoyed the food and service. We chose king prawn with garlic and chilli, tandoori lamb chop, then meat thali and duck bhuna. All of the food was well presented, tasted great and was very filling. We ended up leaving some as the portion size was a bit much for us.

Went with family. The food was okay, some stuff was nice other bits not so much. The tika wasn’t the best in my opinion, bright red style! The service from the owner was a little uptight, we tried to make some conversation to lighten the mood but he’s a serious chap and wasn’t interested in a chat. Regardless it was okay, a little on the expensive side. When I visit family in the area i think I would rather try my luck in olney if it’s curry night.

After a few (or more) drinks, my husband and I were after somewhere to have a late night meal. After googling what was still open, we settled on Chutneys. We were shown to a table and given plenty of time to choose drinks and food, despite the late hour. The food was fantastic. I had a mild chicken dish (can't remember what it was called) and my husband had a whole tandoori chicken. I've never seen a dish like this in an Indian restaurant but he said it was delicious. As was the garlic naan, which was really light and not at all doughy. Really good food and friendly service.

It was really quiet in the restaurant when we visited. Takeaway orders seemed busy. Being one of the only couples there meant we experienced swift service. Our waiter was very pleasant, and the poppadums, starters and mains were delicious. Waiting times were minimal, with one course being delivered soon after another. It's an upstairs restaurant - there is a lift - but it doesn't have any windows so it does feel enclosed. That said, it is in good and tasteful decor, clean and tidy. Would definitely go here again.
