This place used to be good but went before lockdown and food was at best , edible but poor quality with generally unclean feel and non friendly staff. Last visit for me !

It was delivered to our home address 'piping hot'. Excellent Food and value for money as we would expect from Ashoka.

Almost left within 5 minutes of entry, shown to a table and given menus. After looking for the wine list within the menu, because we were not offered a drink or offered the drink menu, I gestured to the waiter for drinks. He was chatting to a member of staff and very abruptly asked me to wait, so I then verbally asked for the wine list. He again very abruptly asked me to wait. There were 3 other customers on one table in the entire restaurant. I talked myself out of leaving, wished I had, the service leaves something to be desired. We ordered and waited, and waited. Almost 25 minutes. Wouldn’t like to be here when it’s busy! The starters were very good, in fact my king prawn purée was up there with the best. But then we waited again for our mains. My Madras was very tame as was the Naga we ordered. My partner doesn’t like a fuss so just ate his meal, very disappointed. I requested my madras be hotted up. It was taken and brought back hotter. No problem? Yes! there was no polish, no attention to detail, no care. Personally, I have never been treated with so much almost arrogance. We requested the bill and again waited for ages and it was incorrect when it came. It was corrected and brought back. I went to the counter to pay by card. Something we never do. We always pay cash to small businesses. We also always leave a tip. Not today. When asked if everything ok I replied no. He asked why ?so I vaguely commented because I just wanted to get out of there. I don’t know how they would explain the poor service. But in 2 words maybe I can. Meerkat offer! Guys a lesson you may want to learn from my dear departed Dad. Treat every customer like it is their only meal out in a year. Like a special occasion, anniversary or birthday and you can’t go wrong. PS obviously changed hands from the lovely brothers who made you so welcome.

Terrible food, terrible service, basket of chips plonked on table(very un-hygenic). Wrong order or no order. Curry sauce in was seemed a plstic or pyrex dish not metal one. Will never ever return.

We have always ordered from here but tonight we placed our order at 6.30 and at 8.50 still no delivery I understand that the current situation is difficult but after ringing twice to chase up only to be told it’s delayed for 30 mins each time not good at all The food is lovely but not happy tonight

Lovely food. It arrived quickly and they accommodated for us with our baby! The service was really good, I will be returning with family again!

Very friendly staff who express themselves well. We had popadoms to start with but they were not crispy and tasted somewhat chewy. The starter was fantastic which was a great lift and came with a plate full of salad to justify the price. After being lifted with the starter we were brought back down with the main course which was ok.

We meet up with our friends every couple of months for a curry. Our friends live in Pendle and we live in Rochdale. Our previous restaurant of choice is no longer our favourite so it was time to find a new place. Our pals found the Ashoka and, boy, we were not disappointed! Food: excellent ✔️ Staff: excellent ✔️ Decoration: traditional and very tasteful✔️ Parking: excellent (carpark next door)✔️ Music: traditional, not too loud ✔️ Bulal, the owner, charming, helpful and nothing was too much trouble ✔️ The Restaurant is huge! The tables are very tastefully covered and the place seemed very clean. Prices were, at, for example, £11 for a Naga curry, on the medium to high scale. But, make no mistake, the portions were large, the food tasted beautiful and value for money was good. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I'm already looking forward to seeing our pals again and enjoying a lovely curry at the Ashoka in Rawtenstall.

The only problem was the food, the vegetable curry was appalling, sweetcorn and runner beans? no Indian vegetables at all, looked like the veg came out of a tin! A chicken curry was bland and the onions and peppers under cooked by a mile

We decided to order our curry from a proper restaurant, as opposed to a takeaway only. As we were paying restaurant prices, we were sure our meal would be worth the higher price. We were very wrong! Our yoghurt for our onion bhaji was room temperature,so no idea how long it had been sitting out. Our poppadoms were soggy. The tarka dhal was basically greasy water with lentils floating around it. My husband had a tasty lamb dish, but at £12.95 it should be.my chicken dish had some chicken, but was mainly an oily sauce. The only really good thing we were sent were the bhajis. V v disappointed. Will revert to cooking our own curries at home.

My wife and I have been customers of this high class Asian restaurant for several years and have always enjoyed the friendly and efficient service. The food is of the highest quality , very tasty ,satisfying and of generous proportions - we always take home a portion of our meal for enjoyment a few days hence! We have tried other restaurants but this is the best! Thank you Ali and your collegues!

Not usually a keen on Indian restaurants as I think I can make better at home but this place is on point food was fantastic, fresh hot very tasty, reasonably priced, great portion sizes and the staff were amazing and that versace wallpaper is epic really impressed thank you will be coming again

Although this is a fixed menu, varying from week to week there is enough variation to suit the vast majority. The quality and service are both great and of course you can ask for more of anything. Our whole family love this venue and the food.

A well established restaurant with excellent service and excellent food at a very good competitive price. I have been coming here since its opening many years ago and I the quality hasn't dropped on any visit. Well recommended a visit for top notch Indian food.

Amazing food as usual and always a pleasure to pop in as the staff are super friendly! Only downside is that it is literally across the road which makes it too convenient not to have to cook!

Attended on fathers day for the all you can eat buffet. Group of 11 of us. Food amazing as always and amazingly priced for the quality of it. The service was great, the staff really cannot do enough to assist.

We moved into the area about 12 months ago Ashoka is our favourite restaurant. We tend to visit once a week. Amazing food, outstanding customer service and a great selection of Gin! Ashoka go the extra mile. We visited last night after getting married on Thursday and they presented us with a bottle as a wedding gift. We will be missing for a few weeks whilst on honeymoon, but we will be back. Mr & Mrs Hindle

Having tried many takeaway curry over the years , this has to be the best. I ordered and paid for my meal online and this was delivered within the hour.Everything tasted exquisite and was piping hot. I shall most definitely be ordering another curry Highly recommended

Went this evening with my husband and fussy eater daughter with my taatecard. Ashoka is our regular Indian of choice and recently has undergone a massive makeover with clear love being pumped into it. We were greeted by a friendly smart young man who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and well catered for. My husband had the meal of the week which we had seen on Facebook and I had a shashlik with a sauce of my choice. We were offered complimentary popodoms which were fab as always. Meal was exceptional as usual and offered a departing drink. The price is very reasonable and we were also given a voucher to use on our next visit. Well done guys 20 years and counting and still going strong.

My husband and I have been here many times but went with friends yesterday evening. We all had a lovely meal as always. The service is excellent and the staff are just so lovely and accommodating. Can highly recommend.

Love this place and cannot even think of anything negative to say about it, the food and service is always fantastic and seems to get better every time we go, never had a bad experience, stepsons 18th birthday we had a banquet for 40 people it was perfect not one issue. There customer service is 100%.

I visited Ashoka for the first time when I went with my brother as my wife doesn't eat spicy food so I don't get the opportunity often.

Been to Ashoka a few times, and aways been good. Went last night (as its been a while), and not only has there been a interior makeover, but the food seems to have had one too. The service was amazing, friendly, knowledgable, made suggestions (which led to one of the best curries I've ever had!). Food was presented beautifully, tasted fantastic - definitely seems they have upped their game from what was already very good, to being outstanding!

New to this area .. went for a meal last night for my partners birthday. Food was fabulous, large portions, the restaurant was pretty quiet as it was Monday evening but the staff were fantastic and talked to us in great detail about the different food culture ... Would highly recommend. Will be back very soon.

Keep this short not been for while and decided on change and to say not disappointed was Superb the starters were mixed platter and every item was full flavour cooked perfection oozing flavour and thumbs up ,move on mains all four commented on how good it was the sauce is big part of the dish and was close to perfection my main was the Tandori mix grill its for bigger appetite so didn't manage to finish and bagged up ,

We popped in for a bite to eat on Sunday. The restaurant was quiet but soon picked up.

Whilst looking for somewhere to eat near the rossendale Valley visiting family and was lucky to come across the ashoka. Everything about the place was top notch, the food was mesmerising. I would gladly have stayed all night if i could have fit another mouthful in. I often find myself wishing I'd chosen whatever dish my wife has ordered as it was beautiful (had chicken and minced meat in it) .The staff and owner were all amazing nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend, my only complaint is that its too far from my home to make it my regular. Although I will definitely be making the hours drive from Lancaster more often.

We visited this restaurant for dinner and were warmly greeted by the staff. The staff were attentive and adapted their menu by providing Tikka cauliflower which was no problem. The food was well presented and tasty. We enjoyed all the 3 courses including the very good Pistachio ice cream.

Food here is top notch only issue is the chips are very old and often taste like they have been re heated

Went with friends . Staff were very friendly and helpful as we had never been before. Food excellent ,couldn't eat it all and brought it home!!!!!!!! Certainly will go again and would recommend it to anyone wanting good food, friendly staff and a lovely calm atmosphere .

We ordered from here because we had had a leaflet through our door yesterday. Normally we get our takeaways from the Indian Harvest and we will be sticking to that in future! The main problem was that we had to wait for an hour and a half after being told 45 minutes for delivery.

Went with a very large party. Food was fine, not outstanding, just good, When it came time to pay we all paid separately one by one and it was only aftwerwards that I realised several of us had been charged full price for naan breads even though we had shared them. Not only that, but to add insult - when I got home and checked my total against menu prices with a calculator it appears i had been charged £5 for two popadoms with chutney, They may have made a couple of quid off me this time but consequently I will never ever set foot in there again. This was pure greediness and not a geniune mistake,

You know when the food is fresh when you wander in and ask for something that isn’t on the menu and the chef says he’ll be pleased to make it for you. Furthermore the spice level was adjusted to our individual taste. I fully recommend this restaurant and will definitely use this again.

Visited with a party of nine most of who live locally and visit regularly. Service was spot on as was the food. I asked if I could be given a dish of their choice that would impress me. I was presented with a medium lamb curry with peppers tomatoes and onions it was delightful. Very impressed. Just don't understand the 1 star reviews.

This is definitely the best curry I have had in a very long time. We could taste the layers of spices through the meal. The waiters were helpful. The restaurant and faculties immaculately clean. We will certainly be back.,

By far the best Indian restaurant in the local area. Food is a very reasonable price, service is always quick and efficient. I have tried the Sunday buffet menu, the Early Bird and the normal menu, and I am yet to disappointed by any of them. The chicken tikka pakora is a must have, but I would not recommend any particular curry, as they are all delicious! Never had a bad meal at Ashoka!

I have visited Ashoka many times. The staff are always welcoming and it is always a pleasant dining experience. The Sunday Buffet is a must try. More than ample portions. A selection of freshly cooked starters and a selection of main meals, including a vegetarian option. If you order off the menu I can highly recommend their Chicken Korahi - the vegetables in it are delicious. You won't leave this restaurant hungry. Tasty, inexpensive meals and great ambience.

Have been here a few times with work colkeagues. 20 of us had the early bird menu which was tasty. Lots left took doggy bags! Great value great service.

Been back a couple of times , defo worth a try. Only had one problem here I ordered a garlic chapati got a plain one so I told them they brought me the same chapati (which was cold ) with a lump of butter in so had to send back he then came back and asked if I wanted a garlic one I sed yeah and I got a plain one so I gave up!!!

Absolutely the best restaurant in the North West. Superb food, excellent taste and portion sizes... Excellent menu and options. Very friendly staff and waiters. Always made to feel welcome. Very reasonable pricing and good selection of lagers. YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER!

I use to love this place but it has changed. The service was terrible. We waited nearly 2 hours for our meals, when the place was close to empty. We saw people get sat down served, eat and leave while we waited we still waited. 1 of our meals even came out wrong but they changed it in 2 minutes. Won't be going back till it's changes owners.

I visited Ashoka midweek to sample the delights of the well advertised early bird menu. Upon arrival at the restaurant I was kindly welcomed by Bulal and Ali whom are both humorous and courteous. I enjoyed a refreshing pint as I stood at the bar enjoying conversation about current affairs with the pair. Upon being seated, we ordered starters of the specials menu (not on the earlybird menu, but kindly substituted by Bulal) and main courses which were of an exceptional standard. I highly recommend the Asian style chips (not on the menu!) and a lamb tikka chilli saag masala. Staff were attentive all night and were a pleasure to be around. The bill for the evening was great value for money and I eagerly look forward to my return trip to Ashoka.

Extensive menu, well served by attentive staff in a pleasant atmosphere and with good décor. Value for money as far as food concerned but drinks (particularly non-alcoholic!) are expensive.

Ashoka is the best restaurant to go for a curry in all of Rossendale! The food is excellent and the waiters are great, especially Bulal! I often go to Ashoka to either sit in or order take out maybe one a week and can never get enough of their Chilli Masala and tandoori lamb chops! The early bird menu during the week will having you leaving with your pants top button undone for just £10! I will definitely recommend anyone to go their.

Just received a take away from ashoka, Food was cold, nan bread and chips burnt, chicken pakora hardly any batter on them, rung to tell them of problem, they blamed taxi for it being cold and said not to come back again as i have complained beforeThis is true, we used ashoka on a weekly basis and even went for Xmas dinner which was a farce, but when spending between £15 to £30 a week I expect my food to be spot on, and if it's cold or burnt then yes I will be contacting themBut enough is enough after the telephone manner ashoka will no longer be having my money

Fabulous Had the Sunday set meal £ 9.99 so much we couldn't eat it all. Staff can't do enough for you. Had a lovely time there.

Visited this restaurant a number of times over last three years.indeed we had our daughter's wedding party there in 2015. Honestly it was spectacular tonight. Went with my wife and two adult daughters. Bilal gave us a most warm and sincere welcome. The food is fantastic! Subtle and dramatic flavours in the different dishes we had. It is ridiculously good value. But I stress again it is glorious food. The service was impeccable . All four of us were delighted with every aspect. We look forward to our next visit.

If you want to be completely ignored whilst the staff discuss their social lives this is the place for you! If you actual want a meal in a timely fashion and to be served by polite people then don't bother. Pity as the food was lovely - when we eventually got it - but the service was so bad we will not go back.

High quality Asian food, not the generic fayre served up by many restaurants. This is not a fast food joint, go here for a relaxing evening. The service is excellent and staff very helpful and courteous.

We had a Family dinner there. We are from Canada and our Family live in Rawtenstall. We found the service,food and prices very good. We wont hesitate going back and look forward to our next visit there.

Ashoka has by far the best Asian food in town. Excellent service and great prices. Easy parking too.

There was 13 of us who came to ashoka for Xmas dinner. When we arrived we was waiting about 10 minutes to be seated. When we was seated our drinks came pretty quickly. I had a mixed starter which consisted of onion bajhi pakora shish kebab etc omg it was beautiful. We was waiting about 20 mins maybe longer for our main course when it came out there was too much turkey on my plate and the pigs in blankets were way to salty. It was alright tho. We all had a mixture of desserts which I was waiting 45ish minutes for my dessert and it was ice cream but it had melted and about 7 people from our party was waiting on Xmas pudding. After a 55 minute wait we were told that there was no Xmas pudding left so 7 people didn't get a dessert!!! Disgusting! The waiters didn't know what table had orderd what drinks as they kept coming over to our table with other people's drinks. Very badly organised. Was 30 pound each for this meal. Not worth it. Definitely wouldn't have Xmas dinner here again. Sorry. Doesn't mean I wouldn't come here for an Indian as I would give it a try. Need to be more organised.

went here on xmas day and after waiting 40 minutes for starters...waited 2.5 hours for mains only to be offered dessert....then when they bought out a main meal it was inedible the steak was like shoe leather .....had to take our drinks order 3 times before getting any....in the end we made a token payment the service was terrible and all they kept saying was "we are busy" what do you expect on xmas day?I will never go her again

Went to this place with my family for a meal. We were seated in the bar area foe what seemed like at least half an hour. They then took our drinks order and then our food order before we were seated at our table. I felt this was a little squashed and impersonal. I would rather have place my order at the table. The service was good the food was even better. Would go here again very nice place

Had a takeaway last night,delivery was on time,food was good if just a tad cold £22 for a nice meal for two excellent value will use again.

We have eaten here before so know that the portions are generous, and that certainly has not changed! There is an extensive range of dishes which are quite different to your ordinary korma/madras/masala, etc, and my Chicken Delhi was really tasty.The only issue we had was that our guests did not have starters, and the mains took over an hour to be served. Other than that it was a great evening with excellent service from all the staff and we will definitely return again.

We read some good reviews and heard good stuff about the Ashoka and decided to give it a visit.Service was good but the food was a little bland which surprised us. décor was in need of an upgrade I am afraid. Most if not all of the chars were worn and really did need replacing I am afraid.

The food wasn't terrible but the furnishings looked dated and the staff weren't particularly enthused. It wasn't too busy but it was still difficult to get the attention of staff. Good prices though.

Awesome food and service everything you'd expect from a good indian. Lots of choice on the menu and at the bar. Even a free delivery service. The mixed phal is to die for

The Ashoka at Rawtenstall is a well establshed and well like restraunt in the area. We have been many times over the years its opening have never been disapointed. The staff are all very friendly and helpfull and if your not sure about what a meal is they will take the time to explain everything about it and them make it to suit your taste requirements wether its "Spicy" "hot" or "EXTREME" if you are that brave.Highly recommended for Indian food lovers

Visited recently with work colleagues.Sat down at 7:30 and it was 10:15 by the time the main courses arrived. Over an hour wait for poppadoms, hour wait for starter then 30 min wait for main. Starter poor, greasy and stodgy. Vegetarian starter had a lamb samosa on it!! Prawns still had black vein in and lamb was tough. Replacement cutlery was just thrown along the table. Chairs tatty and ripped and your feet stuck to the carpet.Felt ill within hours. The only recommendation for this establishment is AVOID! Will never be going back.

We had a great time with the local Labour Party fundraiser meal at Ashoka. The service and food was excellent and it was real value for money. Thank you to the staff who made sure that everyone was well fed and comfortable.Joe W

We regularly eat here and often arrive without a booking. The staff are attentive and friendly and always find a table for us. I cannot recommend the food enough. They also deal with large groups really well and the food is timed well.

Having abandoned our local curry house as it has gone a bit modern it is nice to find a more traditional restaurant. Very busy when we arrived but straight to a table, service great, food superb and great value for money look forward to our next visit

Not being from the area we were recommended to try this Indian restaurant. We were shown to our table immediately. The bar was well stocked and the menu had lots of choice. Our food arrived hot and was very tasty. Upon leaving we asked for the nearest ATM and were offered a lift from one of the staff. Absolutely blown away by the service. Next time we are in the area we will definitely eat here again. Thank you X

I wrote a review for the Ashoka last year. Just been back tonight. It was very quiet and I am truly puzzled by that. This place is a gem. The staff are delightful. The food is excellent. The quality of the very varied menu we had was first class and the portions are enormous. Honestly this is wonderful and fantastic value. I won't leave it so long until our next visit.
